This little Italian take out restaurant-bakery has been around for as long as I remember. We decided to use them to cater our Super Bowl party and the food was fantastic. Stuffed Italian peppers, chicken marsala, carbonara, penne, meatballs, all were excellent and full of delicious flavor. We also had some salads and they were outstanding. If you have the chance to go, you will see that it is filled with exceptionally pretty Italian pastries and cookies. On my most recent visit, I ordered some tiramisu and chocolate bomb cake. Also, you cannot go wrong with their extra large muffins and sconces. They have coffee, a robust selection of lunch goodies, and a super friendly staff. This will give less of just cake and give a little more of the moist chocolate soaked cake around all of the outside. My husband and I ordered our Cinco de Mayo dinner from Casa Dolce in an effort to support local, family-owned and operated businesses during the COVID-19 quarantine. We absolutely love this bakery and have ordered our wedding cake, dozens of birthday cakes and catering from this establishment for years. After reviewing their Facebook post featuring several Cinco de Mayo specials we decided to order a chorizo burrito meal and a chicken quesadilla meal - both of which came with house made chips, a mixture of rice and black beans and sides of sour cream, salsa and guacamole. After being a more than a three-year, steady customer... coming in nearly weekly and spending on average $55 per visit (for my weekly 'provisions' as I called them), I've finally broken up with Casa Dolce. There were numerous times over those years that I felt I was cooly welcomed. And I had long ago become resigned to the fact that I would never become 'a regular.' But I respected their food and they respected my money --the fundamental groundworks of a business relationship. Today, I returned for my weekly trip with four gift certificates ($100 total) that I myself had purchased as a back-up gift the year prior but that were never given. Since I shopped regularly at the restaurant and the certificates indicated no expiration date (In fact, there was no space, line or box for where an expiration date would be indicated. However, a date of purchase had been written in --7/16-- along with a pre-printed identification number) I kept them for my own future use. Today, upon presentation of the certificates, I was told Sorry... there really was an expiration as of July that should have been handwritten in at the time of purchase. I was gobsmacked. It was then that I accepted that this local business truly did not respect our relationship and did not want my money. Sadly this is the only conclusion I can come to. My friends and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite before heading home. We decided to give this place a try, since we pass by it so often. The bakery is a cozy place, and the perfect setting for a lazy weekend lunch. They have so many options to choose from, including different pasta dishes, to cutlets, meatloaf and even fish or scallops. Everything is displayed, so you can fill your plate with whatever pleases you. I've been here twice now, and both times had delicious food. I also took home some yummy desserts, and shared them with other friends who really loved them. I think the prices are a tad pricier than food in Little Italy, but it's worth it because you don't have to worry about finding parking or crowds...plus the food is higher quality here in my opinion :). Agree with the previous reviewer - this place can get pricey very quickly. But and its a big BUT, the food and desserts are top notch. Casa Dolce gets it right because their individual ingredients (even though not fancy) are great tasting. Casa Dolce has two deli cases full of prepared food like chicken parmesan, stuffed artichokes, various cold pastas, lasagnas etc. They also have a loooong case lined with delicious cakes, cookies and pastries. But I always order off their 'Specials' board. I have ordered their 'Wrap of the day' a couple of times. I really dislike the raw taste of preservatives that most wraps leave in your mouth but Casa Dolce gets rid of that problem by grilling the wrap. What you end up with is a warm, slightly crunchy wrap filled with simple but tasty ingredients. The last time in there, I discovered their Buttermilk ice cream. Heaven! If you like original tart frozen yogurt (Pinkberry style), you have to try Casa Dolce's Buttermilk icecream. You will not be disappointed. You may become addicted but you will not be disappointed. Will I buy feta or pizza dough from Casa Dolce? No. I can get more options and better prices at the West Side market or Galucci's. But I will get their sandwiches and wraps and of course, the buttermilk icecream. read more

Delicious. I stopped here for breakfast and ordered their traditional breakfast which consisted of two eggs over easy, home fries, bacon, and toasted Italian bread. I also ordered a can of Coca-Cola classic and a milk. Sometimes when you stop at random places for breakfast the bacon is not very good, or worse, at times even gross. I felt that the service was quite varied, but it tended to be more on the rude side. They even whispered insults about an older gentleman that, in there opinion, asked too many questions. Excellent food! We ordered food from Casa Dolce to cater a small graduation party, and it far exceeded expectations. When I called to place the order, the person to whom I spoke with so helpful, and was spot on with quantities. The artichoke fritters and rumaki were absolutely delicious, and the chicken Parmesan was amazing too. Even the garden salad and balsamic dressing were wonderful, and the garlic bread loaf was out of this world. Alas, we got our cake from somewhere else, but next time we will definitely get desserts from here as well. We did buy some breakfast pastries while we were there, and those most certainly did not disappoint. Maple nut roll was out of this world, as was a chocolate pastry and the biscotti. I always order my daughters Birthday cakes here. The cake is amazing (we get the almond cake with buttercream frosting) and everyone always raves about it. I give them one star because year after year I promise myself NOT to go back because they have some of the rudest and nastiest people working there. Every year I bring in a couple ideas of what I would like put on the cake and they are always so nasty and snippy about it. I used to love this place! They are pricey, but it was worth it coming in for their huge selection and their fantastic service! That's all changed. The food is hit or miss, either its delicious and fresh, or it looks and tastes like it's been sitting in the case for days festering. There are still a few staff that I recognize from before that are still happy and welcoming, but mostly its nothing but a bunch of bad attitudes, like waiting on customers is a chore. During one visit one of the kitchen staff came out to do something while I was waiting and I heard her be exceptionally rude to people I can only assume are regulars because they asked her how she was doing. Part of the appeal of this place was how it felt like a close knit bakery where everyone was welcome and were treated like family. Like I said, there's still a few familiar faces that provide this kind of service each time, but I feel like the whole atmosphere has changed. For the price of the food, I could just go to Heinen's prepared section and get the same unfamiliar service that I would get here. read more

Earlier this month I ordered a custom birthday cake for my fiancé as a surprise. Our families were meeting for the first time so I wanted it to be extra special and was willing to spend $80 if it was going to be what I wanted. I called two weeks in advance because I wanted it to be a Lego themed cake. I asked the lady take the order several questions as I wanted to make sure they could do the Lego designs I wanted or else I was planning to go somewhere else. The woman put me on hold to find out if they could do what I was asking and she said they could absolutely do it. I called that day to see what time it would be ready and she told me it was done and I could come pick it up. When I got there, she told me to come back in 3 hours because it wasn't done yet...why would she lie on the phone and then waste my time? When I went to pick up the cake the second time, I was extremely disappointed to find it was just a plain white frosting cake that they put multi colored sprinkles on with a few Lego boxes on the side. It was too late to get a different cake so I ended up going to a store to get Lego candies to put on the cake to make it look even decent instead of embarrassing. The red velvet cake tasted awful and not a single person took more than a few bites of their cake. It looked awful, it tasted dry and the frosting consistency was off, in sum, never getting a cake from here again. The only saving grace for this place is that their cookies are good. read more

This is a great lunch spot in an area low on good, homemade food (i.e., the depressing drech of Mayfield). The wedding soup is the best I've had and the prepared dishes such as chicken marasala iarequite tasty. I always pick up a selection of dolce -- adore the pine nut almond cookies -- for dessert later in the evening. It's also reather pleasant to sit in the warmer weather with the glass doors open. It reminds me a bit of the sort of places we love to have casual lunches in Italian cities -- where the locals go for a quick, homemade lunch -- some pasta, a cold salad maybe.
