We were excited to try this coffee shop with bakery. We ordered our one drip coffee and one bittersweet mocha. The coffee tasted a bit bitter and possibly sat in the pot for a while. I exchanged it for lavender honey. That one tasted like plain hot milk.. There was no hint of coffee at all.. the bittersweet mocha tasted like bitter cocoa. No hint of Coffee and that one either.. needless to say this will not be a place we will revisit. Although the bakery looked good we did not try it. They do have a lot of different kinds of bread, French bread and baguettes so maybe that's where they get their high reviews but it's definitely not from their coffee.. the service was nice though because they did offer to exchange my coffee for something else and I appreciate that very much. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do love how quaint and cozy this place is it's not really big. It's just really nice and there's also an outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Croissants are large and fluffy, full of great buttery flavor. Service is fast and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And th cafe is bustling, a great place to relax, catch up with friends, and catch up on work![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am so excited I found this gem of a cafe in the Cleveland area. Also got a raspberry croissant and chocolate chip cookie to go to enjoy at home! Worth the drive if you're in the Lakewood area! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Absolutely lovely cafe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I use to come here a lot when I lived in the area, I'm very happy to say it's stayed the same! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I adore all the local, changing art they have on the walls[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], I love the variety of excellent, fresh bakery items, and I love the London fog tea they have!

I have wanted to try this popular bakery and Cafe out for a while but never made it out before today. I wasn't able to try their famous chocolate chip cookie as they were all sold out when I stopped by at 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. I ended up buying a peanut butter cookie instead ($1.85). It was big and tasty and I could tell it was homemade. I hope to stop by again soon to try their famous cookie and perhaps bring home a loaf of bread but none of the loaves they had left today spoke to me. Overall, I had a good experience and was happy with the friendly service I received.

They have a lovely selection of baked good including a wide selection of breads and some delicious pastries and sweets. The service is fast but there is usually a line if you go later in the mornings so plan accordingly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are tables inside that provides ample seating for study sessions or coffee dates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was on the hunt for a solid bakery option after an early morning car appointment when I stumbled on Blackbird Baking Company. Early enough, I chose to order online and wait for some of their options only available after 9am, and boy was it worth it. Blackbird has some of the most reasonable of pricing when it comes to freshly baked goods I have ever seen. Their assortment of croissant flavors, bread types and forms, cookies and more is unreal. Mixed with the low cost and deliciousness of their product, it is hard to beat. They also have smalls (!) of some of their loaves and focaccias-and this single person is beyond content at the option. I treated myself to a variety of goods including a ham and cheese croissant, olive and feta focaccia, coconut macaroons, french rustic dinner rolls, and a small brown levain loaf. Everything was great, my only caveat being I wish the focaccia wasn't so crunchy and had a bit more toppings. I suggest ordering ahead, besides the website making it super easy to use, the line outside and quickish sellouts will make you want to guarantee your goods. I also have a hard time working under pressure in front of a glass of pastries for choosing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a large parking lot, cute patio space at the entrance and sizable seating inside, though it can get loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to go back and check more offerings out!

This was my first time stopping into Blackbird Baking Company, and I enjoyed my time in the cute cafe/bakery coffee shop. The menu for drinks was fairly limited but the classics were there for sure. I tried an iced americano (not pictured) and the flavor of the espresso was really nice, after trying the cappuccino as well I had wished I ordered a hot drink because those looked really delicious. the only thing I did not love was that they gave the iced coffee in a hot cup and i am not sure if they offer glasses for cold drinks, i forgot to ask but it is not the end of the world! :) we had gotten there about 1.5 hours before they closed so the bakery items were limited, and I was bummed because I have heard such great things about the bakery items so I will have to stop back in. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, I could appreciate the crisp on the outside and the soft gooey inside with lots of chocolate. I also tried a bite of the peanut butter cookie, it was good but not as good as the chocolate chip. The staff was friendly and there was a pretty decent size seating area, but I can definitely see how it gets very packed on weekends. they also offer a station with half/half, milk, honey, simple syrup, cinnamon, coco powder, and some other options in order to add to your drink if needed which was really nice. overall, good experience and I look forward to coming back earlier in the day to be able to try their other options!

Yummmmm is all I can say about the peanut butter cookie! Also ordered and iced vanilla coffee - which was just ok. The place was packed on a Friday morning but the line went pretty quickly, and the employees were super friendly. Ample parking and ample seating! All of the goodies looked so delicious and lots of bread choices. I will definitely be back!

I visited Blackbird Baking Company at 11:00a on a Thursday and the dining area was full and there was a line out the door. My visit was part of a Yelp Elite event. Even the outdoor seating was busy. You could tell this is a place where the community members meet. It appeared several people new one another, but did not come together. A group a bikers arrived from the Metroparks and took advantage of the bike parking. Overall it was a cute neighborhood hangout. They had a large menu of baked good and even had dog biscuits. I took two dog biscuits home to our dogs and they loved them. The chocolate chip cookie lived up to it's reputation. I ordered a Oatmilk latte and appreciated it was in an eco-friendly cup. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would like to return and try additional baked goods.

Whenever we are in town we stop at this small place by where we are staying. I quickly decided that their croissants were my favorite. They often sell out before we get there. The next time we asked if they made them or if somewhere else did. That is how we learned of Blackbird. On this most recent trip we decided to stop in at Blackbird. Besides the plain Croissants which I love. Buttery and flakey inside with nice texture on the outside. They have a variety of other flavors. I'm a huge Almond Croissant fan. They have a lot of different Breads, Pastries and Sticky buns. As well as Muffins, Cookies, Scones. Thirsty after all that snacking you can get your coffee fix. They have Cappuccino, Espressos, specifically drinks and Tea. We tried a Chocolate Chip cookie as well. Which was honestly one of the best we both have had in a long time. Oddly enough the only negative was that it had too much chocolate. We both agree it would be better with less. I know ........ who ever thinks that let alone says it out loud. It also had a sprinkle of salt which helps to balance out the sweetness. My husband says it got better the more he ate.

Came to Blackbird for a Yelp event but was really pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it!! The baristas are so friendly and the general vibe is homey and cozy. There is plenty of seating with outlets, making it a great place to study. I got a chocolate chip cookie for free through Yelp and it was so delicious. I'll be buying another on my way out.

Parking can be challenging, there is a very small lot in front with 2 regular spaces and 1 handicap space; plus there are several spots on the street, all of which were full. I ended up parking on the nearby side street by the Burger King. Inside the cafe there are two distinct sides, the right side is set up as a coffee shop with the service counter, some high top tables and some comfortable seating; the left side is set up as a dining area with a bar. The decor is bright and modern with some touches of whimsy, overall very nice and comfortable, the kind of place you can relax and take your time. The menu is set up with a number of categories: breakfast, paninis, salads, wraps, flatbreads, wafflesicles and drinks. Prices are reasonable and there are some interesting items. I had a certificate for $20 so I ordered the Smashed Egg Avocado Bagel, the Bang Bang Shrimp Wrap and a big Chocolate Chip Cookie. The staff was great getting the certificate redeemed and guiding me through the menu. The food came out in a very timely manner, presentation was simple and straightforward. I had plenty of food for a very nice lunch. The egg and avocado bagel was interesting, the bagel was a bit soft for my preference, it was topped with a generous spread of egg and avocado mix plus some fresh spinach leaves. A very nice and healthy breakfast sandwich, a bit milder in flavor then I prefer, but good. The shrimp wrap was a good sized flour wrap around cold cooked shrimp with shredded cabbage and a great spicy sauce that perfectly complimented the wrap. This was excellent, the cool meaty shrimp contrasting with the crunchy cabbage and the zippy creamy sauce. I would highly recommend this if you like a bit of spice. The warm cookie was a great way to finish my lunch, very soft and gooey, packed with high quality chocolate chunks. About the only issue I had with the cookie was that it was hard to eat with just my hands, I ended up using the fork for most of the cookie. Jade Owl Cafe is a great local place to grab some high quality food, pastries and drinks. It is woman and minority owned, very well thought out and executed. The food is fresh and tasty, service was great and the overall experience was just what you could expect from a cafe. If you are in the area give them a try.

You enter in and pick which mug you'd like your drink to be served in. I thought this was a super fun concept! (I tried not to think of other germy hands touching my cup though haha). I got a cappuccino which was tasty. And I got a s'mores waffsicle, which was so delicious! We sat on the bar side because there were plenty of clean tables over there. (One table was very cold and drafty so watch out hahah) Service was slow; I think maybe only two people were working. There was a giant garage door which will be so nice to have open in nicer weather!! We were also wondering if the mugs will be switched out for glasses when it's iced coffee season! We didn't have kids with us, but noticed some kids toys, a high chair, and changing table in the bathroom available making this place a kid friendly option! Overall, I would definitely come back !

The front is unassuming, and this combo isn't something you see every day, but somehow, it works... or at least, it's interesting enough to give it a shot. I visited the coffee shop side while working nearby (walking distance) at the co-working center (Icon Cowork). I ordered the red eye. Honestly? It delivered. It wired me for days. It was extremely strong and not well crafted (too much, definitely not barista made). But boy did it do its job. While at the coffee shop, I noticed a small menu of other drinks and no baked goods in the case. It just really had the basics. Service was very quick. The barista (who worked both sides of the house) was nice enough, but the vibe was more transactional than inviting. Not rude, just kind of indifferent. The space had enough tables to sit at and very quiet atmosphere. One thing I couldn't ignore was the scent of vape juice hanging in the air. It didn't bother me personally, but I can see how that could be a turn-off if you're expecting more of a traditional coffee shop aesthetic. Of note is that both sides of the business have the same entrance. They're working on dividing the space into two separate ones according to my quick chat with the employee. Currently the coffee shop has no age restrictions while the smoke shop is 21+. Overall? Burning River Coffee is quirky and good for a simple cup of coffee. It's not a textbook coffee shop experience -- it's its own thing. Just don't expect the usual indie-coffeehouse playlist and aesthetic. Expect something unexpected and different.

The location is great to walk to neighborhood shops and restaurants in Lakewood. The friendly staffer really worked her latte magic! She said she always adds a little bit of vanilla to punch up the flavors of the lattes. The coffees were so good. I also appreciated that they used lots of ice....perfectly cold and creamy. The baked goods looked nothing like the pictures on Yelp, but they did have several vegan and gf options. This morning they also had fresh cinnamon rolls.
