Whats left of my $5 Hibiscus Mimosa
    Pat H.

The girls were really nice. all 3 of them. From the little blonde host, in the other one came and checked on us right away. Our waiteess was Evelyn. She came right away made suggestions, and got our food out to us right away. My husband loved his chicken enchiladas with a Mushroom twist and I had the steak fajitas that were tender with beans and a baked potato. They had $5 mimosas today too. Very good.

A chimichanga style meal with delicious, succulent beef and a tasty green sauce with Mexican cheese.

Let's rate this Mexican restaurant in La Mesa FOUR and a HALF Stars...meaning quite good. When most folks around here think about dining in La Mesa they think of the Chopes family restaurant. But across the street is a new entry that is getting a lot of recognition...Casa El Camino...a more traditional style Mexican restaurant. Unlike the place across the road which specializes in New Mexican food Casa El Camino features more traditional Mexican food from the state of Jalisco. The emphasis is on traditional Guadalajaran seafood dishes and Birria. Casa El Camino is a very attractive and open restaurant with a dining area on one side and a cantina on the other. At certain times they do feature live entertainment. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and colorful. During our meal there was soft Mexican music playing throughout the restaurant. Casa El Camino has a far nicer ambiance than the place across the road. It is a very comfortable place to dine. And, the PRICES ARE QUITE MODERATE. As I entered the restaurant accompanied by a date we found an attentive hostess near the front door. She immediately led us to a table in the dining area. This hostess also served as our waitress. She was pleasant and efficient and a help with the menu. Although not the most professional of servers she was just fine. After taking our drink order she brought to the table a bowl of tortilla chips and a small rack with chopped onion and cilantro and two bottles of salsa...one green and one orange in color. The salsas were different than any others I've had around Las Cruces...very smooth with a slight kick and very, very flavorful. Rate these unique salsas an "A-." The chips were thin and flavorless. Not very good. Rate them a "C-." They need to do better here. We ordered the Queso Fundido with chorizo added as an appetizer. It was served warm on a little skillet. Accompanying it were several warmed tortillas. Served in the tortillas the Queso Fundido was very flavorful. But, after it cooled it was hard and almost useless. The addition of the chorizo didn't add much to the queso. The chorizo seemed dry and to be lacking flavor. As a result, rate the Queso Fundido about a "B." Don't know if I would order it again. My date ordered a drink which, as with most alcoholic mixed drinks these days, was fairly expensive. It was however very, very good (I did have a taste.) They called it a Chi Chi Fish (made of vodka and pineapple juice among other stuff.) Rate it an "A." She also ordered a meal with a delicious chimichanga-like burrito filled with succulent beef and covered with a green sauce and Mexican cheese. It was called a "Sincronizada" but it was not anything like a Sincronizada that is served in Mexico. It was, however, excellent. Rate it an "A-." I will probably order it the next time. I had their Birria Tacos which came with consomme and a side. Strange to say, the menu did not mention anything about sides coming with the tacos, but the waitress gave me four or five options. (Baked potato, fries, refried or whole beans etc.) I chose the fries. The consomme, served in a little decorative cup was very good. They really did a good job of straining off the fat. Rate it an "B+." The birria meat was really delicious. It had something added to it that I've not experienced previously that raised the birria to another level. The meat was outstanding. Rate it an "A." The fries were better than average. Rate them a "B." All in all, this was a nice dining experience that offered something new and didn't cost an arm and a leg. We look forward to our next visit and trying other options. FOUR and a HALF STARS for the dining experience...just 30 minutes south of Las Cruces.

One of our favorite restaurants in Las Cruces (La Mesa)!! The service is great and the food is delicious! And they have a a crème brûlée martini that is so, so good!4

Their signature soup with sautéed green onions, bacon, pork and quesadilla. Sorry I forgot the name but oh so delicious.

Prices were about what you'd expect, nothing crazy. The desserts were just as solid--very tasty and a great way to wrap things up. Our waitress was super nice and always nearby if we needed anything, without hovering. Overall, a great spot to swing by even if you're just going for drinks and dessert. Definitely worth it.

He has beaten stage four cancer three separate times. Needless to say, his career military background and having just retired in October 2025 served him well. He has faced every diagnosis head-on like the true American soldier he is. During one of our quiet conversations, he shared something that clearly weighed on him. He was heartbroken that he never got the chance to take his wife out for their 55th wedding anniversary in December because he was in the hospital. The next day, I asked him a simple question. If you could pick one restaurant within a 100-mile radius, just one, where would you want to go once you had your strength back? Without hesitation, he said La Posta. Over the next few weeks, a lot changed. He was released from the hospital. He slowly began to regain his strength. First the cane went away, then short walks turned into longer ones, and eventually he was even driving himself from LC to EPT for doctor's appointments. When I finally asked if he felt strong enough to go to that meal we had talked about, he lit up. He started telling me stories. How his father used to bring him to La Posta. How it had remained top notch throughout the years. He went into detail about every menu item he loved. But the one thing he really wanted me to understand was the ambiance. You will get it when you are there, he told me. I called to see if they took reservations. We were not even sure they did. A young woman named Priscilla answered the phone. I explained the situation. My uncle was finally strong enough to return to his favorite restaurant, one that held a lifetime of memories, and he had missed celebrating his 55th wedding anniversary. I told her I wanted to surprise them and make the night unforgettable. I even mentioned I was planning to have flowers delivered. Priscilla did not hesitate. She immediately connected me with her manager, Teresa. I asked if we could have a larger table than one meant for three people because my uncle wanted to order everything. Honestly, I just wanted him to eat, to enjoy himself, to feel normal again. Teresa agreed without question. Then something unexpected happened. Teresa explained that Priscilla was a single mom of two who had recently started a floral business on the side and truly wanted to help make this night special. She asked if it would be okay to involve her. Of course, I said yes. I was transferred back to Priscilla and told her to go big. No expense spared. I gave her full creative freedom and an unlimited budget. Unbeknownst to me, Priscilla partnered with a friend who specialized in balloon arrangements. What she created was nothing short of breathtaking. Place cards. Multiple floral centerpieces. An ornate floral display. A large professional sign welcoming my aunt and uncle to the restaurant. She handled everything with grace, professionalism, and kindness, even as our party grew from three people to thirteen. And then the story took a turn. The day before the dinner, my uncle was rushed into emergency surgery. Suddenly, everything was uncertain. Half the family canceled to stay at the hospital. We kept Priscilla updated as events unfolded. Not once did she complain. Not once did she lose her composure. She adapted to every change with pure professionalism and empathy. She even adjusted the floral arrangements when we decided to bring flowers and food to the hospital instead. That is when I learned that the owners of La Posta had been informed of the situation. The male manager on duty, and I regret not remembering his name, passed along a message from them expressing their deepest condolences and gratitude. He also shared that they wished they could have been there to meet my uncle. There really are still good people in this world. After her shift ended at 4 p.m., Priscilla went to pick up her kids and then came back to the restaurant just to meet me. She walked me through everything she had created and explained the work behind it. When I asked how much I owed her, she paused and said she wanted to bless my family and could not accept payment. I was overwhelmed. Her work would have easily cost four to five hundred dollars. I insisted on tipping her at the very least, and she reluctantly agreed. The food that night was incredible. We had a wonderful server, and the food was amazing. We ordered extra meals to go so my cousins could bring my uncle his favorite dishes back to the hospital. It was a small way to lift his spirits during one of the darkest moments our family has faced. My uncle asked me to thank you for the food. And I want to thank everyone at La Posta for the hospitality, the compassion, and the humanity. When my uncle regains his strength and comes home again, we will return with his wife so he can finally give her the 55th wedding anniversary dinner they both deserve.

We waited 10 minutes at the bar before we were finally asked what drinks we wanted. All for this lady to be nasty toward us the entire night. We wanted a refill on water, we had to ask. We wanted another cocktail, we had to ask. This is not how you work with customers. She should be removed. Finally, we are FETCH shoppers and asked for an itemized receipt and the bartender had a few feelings about it. The entire reason we went there was to get the FETCH points and she was not happy about that request. The manager also failed to get an actual itemized receipt it was missing key information for the FETCH app redeem. Not worth a visit.

Beans and rice on the side are optional / modest extra charge - they are usually very good and worth adding if you're hungry enough. My favorite sauce is the Chipotle. It's got heat as it's also creamy...I would call it medium (I like spicy food.) If you're getting them to go, you might want the sauce and toppings on the side. They usually ask about that, but occasionally they might forget. Service is usually friendly and efficient even when they are busy. Your food is made to order, so it's fast but not instantaneous. Allow 5-10 minutes for pickup most of the time. The dining room is medium-sized. I would say it's a place to eat and go, not stay and linger.

We ordered the flautas with chipotle sauce and the chilaquiles with half red and half green sauce. The chilaquiles were absolutely amazing. We added a runny egg since we couldn't do chicken, and it gave the dish extra flavor and a good boost of protein. The flautas (which I'd honestly describe more as taquitos dorados) were crunchy and tasty. We liked the chipotle sauce that came with them, but we actually loved dipping them into the chilaquile sauce even more. Overall, it was a great spot to grab breakfast before hitting the road again for many more hours. Highly recommend!
