As much as I would like to support a hometown chain, I've continued to be disappointed with Casa even after eating at the different locations at least 8 times over the last few years. The dishes that I have ordered have been mediocre at best. And each time I go, I've been hoping for a good dish. The dishes haven't been really bad. They are just not really good. I've lived in California, NY and DC and I know good food when I have it. But the thing that drove me to post this review is the horrible service I received from the manager at the Stellhorn location on an evening in February, 2012. On that evening, my friend and I chose Casa's for dinner. When we were ordering, the waitress, who was nice, explained that they were all out of bread. She was appropriately apologetic and we appreciated that. I asked her if they had absolutely no bread and she explained that I could order breadsticks, but I would have to buy those. Hmmmm...... I'm thinking to myself, your restaurant is so cheap, that they can't substitute the breadsticks for the complimentary bread that they normally serve and that their customers expect?????? I reluctantly ordered the breadsticks because I like to always have bread with my Italian food. The waitress served the 2 breadsticks and I found that they are charging $2.99 for just the two breadsticks. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I concluded that this must be a poor decision by an inexperienced waitress and that a manager would surely take care of it if I brought it to her attention. So I asked to speak to a manager. A lady with short hair came to the table. She didn't smile; she made no inquiry as to if everything is okay. She just came to the table and stared. I asked the manager if they could substitute the breadsticks for the bread that they were out of. She said, no we don't do that. She said that was a decision by the owner. She made no apology, she didn't offer to do anything to compensate for the missing bread. She just stared like she could care less. I wouldn't expect that from a new waitress, let alone a manager!!! I was pretty stunned. Rarely, have I had such bad customer service and never from a manager. Manager's are normally trained to try to make every customer satisfied if possible. She made absolutely no effort. On the contrary, she was a bit snippy. At that point, I quickly concluded that it would be useless to try to point out what a poor customer service position she was taking. I just told her that I would never return to Casa's if that's the way they treat their customers. So not only, will I never return to Casa's. I will tell everyone I know, at every opportunity, about my experience there. And I will encourage them to take their business to a restaurant that appreciates their customers and understands good customer service. Clearly, Casa's doesn't get it. Maybe Casa's managers should be required to read a customer service book like "In Search of Excellence" or some similar book which talks about companies who provide great customer service. If an owner of Casa's reads this review, I recommend that they have their managers go through some customer service training. Surely, if this manager would have been trained, she would have handled the situation much more appropriately. read more

Casa is my favorite Italian restaurant in Fort Wayne. Very authentic. Who doesn't love an Italian restaurant that serves endless amount of breads, parmesan, butter, and olive oil? Casa salad is a must have when enjoying your pasta dish. Casa is famous for this very simple recipe and people love it. I do not believe I have ever ate here without ordering a salad to start. I always opt for the small bowl for myself or the large bowl to share. The side gives you just enough to keep wanting more. The salad is not endless like Olive Garden either. My favorite pasta dish is the Pasta con Verdura. I get it with double mushroom. It traditionally comes with shell pasta but you can modify that to whatever noodle you want. They have GF noodles too! Extra sauce is the way to go and the bread dips lovely in it. I am also a huge fan of the Tilapia dish with veggies. It is served with a little side of tomato onion bruschetta mix that is awesome with the tilapia. This is a healthier option as well compared to the high carb pasta selections. The scene is casual but this location is romantic in the sense of the dark wood tables, and dark colors throughout the restaurant. Very cozy and the dim lighting at night gives off a warm vibe. This location also has a pizza oven. You can watch a few cooks whipping up pizza or grilling chicken breasts. read more

I can easily say that this is one of my favorite places in Fort Wayne to eat Service. The service is always very attentive and very personable. I never have had a problem with anybody and I think that makes this place even better. Environment : the environment is very well put together. It has a very Italian feel to it! Large tables, many chairs around them, and a wide open space. I really like that you can see the oven that they cook in. In the bar area is very nice. Food: this is honestly some of the best Italian food in Fort Wayne. I think I've been coming here since I was very young and it's never let me down. I went to the DuPont location twice last week and the Stellhorn location tonight with my entire family, the manager there is a stand up guy, and he does a great job with the staff. I've ordered the Gamberi Mainara the previous two times that I went last week and the shrimp wasn't as succulent or as spicy as it was tonight, delicious! For dinner I had the rotisserie chicken with stuffed pork and cherry sauce which were exquisite but the chicken wasn't as juicy as I'd like it to be. For dessert, the raspberry cheesecake was greater than the tiramisu. Overall, Casa is a Fort Wayne gem and I would highly recommend the DuPont and Stellhorn locations to my closest friends. read more

Dear, fans I really enjoyed the meal at Casa. I got the classic pasta dishes that they offer at Casa. The food was full of taste ,but there spaghettini was kind of bland no to little sauce. The other food was good ,but no real flavor. I was a little bit sad for what I got the price was high just for a spaghettini , salad . Best Italian food in the Fort by far and it's locally owned!!! No chains here. The food is good. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is great. The service is great. The portions are large, but I've never had a dish that didn't taste great the next day for lunch. The kids meals are extremely reasonable. The seasonal specials are always worth a try. Try the house salad, the cavatelli quatro fromaggi with the ground sausage, and a slice of cheese cake with the raspberry sauce. Round it out with a few glasses of the Malvasia and you've got a meal to die for. read more

We've been Casa fans for over two decades, and I have to say that the Stellhorn Rd. location is my favorite, not only for atmosphere, but also for menu. Yes, the Casa (house) salad could use a touch less dressing, but there are plenty of other salads on the menu to feed your need for roughage! Par example, the Raspberry Pollo Insalata....PACKED with everything you won't find at your local casual dining chain monstrosity. You get wood-fire-grilled chicken, field greens (not just romaine or iceberg), including everything from frisee to radicchio, healthy doses of crunchy pine nuts, thin-sliced red onions and a lovely gorgonzola, topped with a light raspberry glaze/dressing. The only dish I've ever taken issue with is the Eggplant Parm......I have to order it well-done, or else it often arrives as a soggy conglomeration of cheese and watery eggplant. Perhaps ordering it with the marinara on the side might help that, but who knows, it STILL tastes wonderful! Atmosphere at the Grille is lovely. Maybe I'm just smitten with tile floors, dark woods and colorful paintings, but I think this location has the best set-up, with an exhibition kitchen, main dining area, separate bar/dining area and two side rooms, you can do groups or a 'somewhat' intimate dinner for two, if you can stand the wait! I say 'somewhat' due to the fact that the sound level is a bit high, but you can still hold a conversation at your table without having to scream! Service has never been anything less than professional. Again, blowing away local casual chains, where fake glee and flair rule the tableside manner. Servers just LOOK good and make you feel good about being there! Price level just depends on your particular budget. We save trips to Casa for special occasions, because we have a lower entertainment budget, but it is always worth the price for the amount and quality of food and the high standard of service. All in all, I think this chain, and particularly the Stellhorn location, is one of the best in Ft. Wayne. read more

When I first called, the lady on the phone had somewhat of a tone and it sounded like she had a side conversation with someone else because she was giggling. When I got to the restaurant it took a few minutes for me to get help and there was 2 of them. I didn't mind it however when I got helped for my pick up order, the lady didn't put it in the system so it wasn't ready and she had to redo my order. I was very annoyed because I was on my way to work so that's why I ordered ahead of time. She charges me full price, I wish should would have offered a discount or added something complimentary because she didn't put in my order. She told me it would be about 5 minutes so I waited in my car at the carry out lane. The food was good but it made me question the quality because they made it in 5 minutes...I won't be returning here. For example the rotisserie chicken with the raspberry glaze is not even worth the trip. I went to this restaurant this past Sunday. The food was fine and the service was good as well. The issue came when it was time to pay the bill. I had received a five dollar off coupon from the restaurant previously. To be clear, this was given to me by them, and not something I got online or elsewhere. I gave that to my waiter and he was gone for a few minutes. He came back and said the manager would only honor it if I had spent $25 or more. I was by myself and my bill was just under $12. Nowhere on the coupon does it list a minimum purchase amount. I guess the manager is okay with just making up policies. I get that the restaurant needs to make money, but he still should have honored the coupon. I didn't argue because how can you argue with someone that just makes things up on the fly? I've always had good experiences at all of the Casa's, but this was the exception. read more

Went last Sunday, I choose one of the dishes al forno. The food was delicious and the size was huge. Two people (not that hungry) could easily share it between them. And the bread was really good, made me remember the French bread we have in Brazil! Really good, specially with butter, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil! Great place! read more

We were with friends and went to the Stellhorn Road location Tuesday night before going to a performance at the Embassy Theater. If you are a vegetarian or are watching your intake of saturated fats, you need to be extra careful. In looking through all the pasta dishes, the tomato sauces contained meat. The house dressing contains anchovies and even the croutons are crisped in meat "juices". In a panic, I misread the description for pasta con vendura thinking is contained all the veggies listed. Instead it has a few mushrooms and you can add one veggie to it for $13.49. My husband followed my lead and ordered the same thing. The pasta and few mushrooms were swimming in a heavy cream sauce. This is really fettuccine alfredo (heart attack on a plate) with large shell pasta from a box. The "loaf" of bread was just really plain white bread similar to the rolls from Subway rather than nice crusty Italian bread. The people of Fort Wayne deserve better than this. I suggest the owners get out and try some real Italian restaurants and see what they offer. Even the chain Macaroni Grill has some lower fat/vegetarian options and good bread and salad. With a glass of wine each and a side salad we spent $55 and I feel totally ripped off. read more

Frequent diner (for over 3 decades) and received the WORST experience at dinner tonight. Upon entering the restaurant the hostess staff was incredibly rude. When a situation arose with seating our party, we calmly addressed our concerns with the manager on duty (Nico) whom specifically told us we were lying. Once we were actually seated the hostess who made the error was exceptionally rude as she showed us our table. We readdressed this with the manager who was still not apologetic nor willing to make our experience better. We will NOT be back to this location. read more

Though there are several Casa locations in Fort Wayne with the same menu, each has a distinct style and personality. My favorite, by far, is Casa Grille on Stellhorn, because of the 1920s vibe, jazzy artwork, and beautiful dark wood fixtures throughout. A visit to Casa is a splurge for us (partly because there are so many delicious must-haves on the menu), but that's okay because the beautiful atmosphere makes it perfectly appropriate for special occasions. It's a place my husband and I love to visit when marking birthdays, anniversaries, or other events worth marking with a delicious meal. The service is always impeccable, and the food, flawless. We always start off with the Garlic Cheese Bread, which is one of his favorites, and we split the house salad because you can't leave Casa without having some! Though we've sampled several of the entrees over the years, we've discovered our favorite--Tortellini Burro--and it never disappoints! Equally enchanting is Casa's classic take on Tiramisu, which is not to be missed, and provides the perfect ending to this delicious Italian meal. My one complaint is that there are TVs in the restaurant. Although they are never blasting sound or anything, their presence detracts slightly from the otherwise pristine atmosphere. read more

The atmosphere is usually kind of loud, and the place is generally full, so that makes it more fun for dinners out. The gluten free pasta is fairly good, and the vegetarian menu is so-so, kind of limited and pretty salty overall. I've been going to this Casa restaurant for a number of years but stopped a number of months ago after a bad experience. On my last visit I had asked our waitress for more butter and after waiting ten minutes the waitress walked by our table and instead of bringing the butter she took our bread without even saying anything. After another few minutes I was able to get her attention and when asked about the bread and butter her reply was to make a face and in a baby voice asking, "Did you want more butter?". Was she on drugs? Who the hell hired and trained this idiot? The manager (one that I didn't recognize) offered me a free desert, like that was going to fix things.
