We had a great dinner at Salvatori's. Two of us ordered calzones. They were huge and stuffed almost too full of toppings. Hubby wanted to eat lighter, so ordered the peppers, onions, and sausage appetizers simmered in red sauce. The portion was huge and definitely enough for his main entree. Another of our party ordered spaghetti and meatballs side, which he also enjoyed and was a huge portion. We loved the hot breadsticks. The only down side is that my daughter's entree was late. The server told us that the kitchen had pretty much just spaced it and didn't start making her food with the rest of our order. She did not receive her entrée until all of the rest of us were completely finished eating. Well, we were good natured about it and didn't create a fuss or complain or asked to talk to a manager,, but Salvatori's also didn't take the initiative to offer any additional words of explanation, apology, or even a coupon off our next visit. My daughter's entrée came out so hot, that the ceramic plate was actually steaming. Ordinarily that is not a bad thing if she would receive her order at the same time as everyone else.. She felt so awkward about having to wait until it cools off before she can eat, and knowing that all the rest of us were finished and waiting on her that she just pretty much asked for a box and packed it up to take it home. For me personally it's the slow service. I do food delivery and there's always been an issue when I go there. I just drove about 15 minutes to get there only for the order to get stuck in the printer. Lol yeah right, they just didn't want to do it right then. Ok, hear me out, my husband talked about this place all week when he knew we would be driving through Ft. Wayne. So it was being held at a very high standard for the other three who had not been there. It did not disappoint. The bread sticks were nicely cooked, airy with holes in the middle and choice of sauces. Manicotti with meat sauce, fettuccine Alfredo add chicken, spaghetti and meatballs and a small pizza were all delicious. They do have a gluten free option. Single bathroom that can accommodate a wheelchair but likely not a large enough turning radius. It is attached to a gas station so that would be alternative option. Sangria was on par, not too sweet. Server's are all experienced and very nice. Management checked on table to insure food was good. Full size portions are enormous. We definitely have left overs. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. Yes, this little family-friendly Italian eatery is located in a truck stop/gas station - but their Italian food and house-made desserts are legit! Daughter and I stopped on our way from northern Columbus to Fort Wayne. I filled up the car with gas and she got hungry - so we took a chance and went inside. Whoa, it smelled great! Service was friendly and menu looked terrific. Kiddo had fettuccine Alfredo - the best she's ever had, she said, and she orders that all over the world. We also got their "cinnamon roll" which is basically a Stromboli filled with cinnamon, brown sugar and butter. Made fresh to order, it blew our minds. This cozy, small place has all the authentic dishes you know and love, with a 5 star wait staff and the owner walking around talking to people. The real score is 4.5. Ok, first things first. It is right off the highway, shares a wall with a Taco Bell and next to a gas station. Full stop. If you keep reading or stop, you will do yourself a favor. Really a great meal. It is the original location of which is now 7-8 other locations in greater Ft Wayne. It is cozy and cute inside but small. Short wait for a table (we called ahead which helped and was appreciated). Started with Bosco Sticks which was a cross between bread sticks and fried mozzarella. Choice of 4 dipping sauces. Delicious. Our party of 4 sampled the menu - chicken Marsala special for me, a spaghetti supreme, pasta apuilia and a white pizza. Everything was great and HUGE portions. 2 got the "small" Which they couldn't finish. The large is only like $2 more. Authentic cannolis for dessert. Limited beer and wine menu. Friendly and attentive service and food came out quickly. The only reason why I hold back from 5 stars was that this was not "to die for" Italian food or super creative. But a very solid choice and so glad we stopped. read more

This is a tiny restaurant as part of a truck stop. Tiny, and extremely busy on a Friday night. We were greeted by the owner and directed to the only empty booth. Wait service was prompt. As Italian goes, it is definitely Americanized Italian. My wife had the Basilicata which was quite good, with excellent sausage and a nice sauce. A half-portion was plenty large enough. The exterior appearance is deceiving. (This location is located in a small "strip" adjacent to a Shell gas station.) Once you enter, the restaurant is inviting. Sherry (I hope I am remembering her name correctly,) our server was so welcoming and friendly. She told us she has only been at this location for a few months after transferring from another location. The restaurant was packed; however she made is feel as though we were her only guests. Our party ordered phenomenal salads (Traditional and Cesar) to go along with our main course. Our server made recommendations and we decided to go with the Baked Spaghetti and Chicken Piccata. My wife and I are commercial driver's and we decided to try the food at Salvatori's. I had a taste for pizza. We were staying at the Flying J truck stop acroos the highway and I phoned in our order for pick up to take back to the truck stop. It was a Friday evening and the place was pack. The counter service was great and our order was ready to go in just a few mi utes. Salvatori's has an extensive menu but I chose a 14" Pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza and my wife had the Baked Spinich Ravioli 1/2 order was more than enought for her. We added a chocolate Canoli and I had the Cheese cake for dessert. I was told by the owner that the construction next door will soon be a new truck stop. We look forward to enjoying the food at Salvatori's again soon. The only downside is the limited parking space. It's not big rig friendly. We drive a 40 foot Expeditor Truck and I was able to get in and out with minimal difficulty a bobtail would have an easier time. But the lot is currently marked for no tractor trailers but that willchange once the construction is done. read more

Amazing! Don't be fooled by the location (attached to a gas station). This place is legit. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable (although small so not a ton of seating). The food is wonderful. We enjoyed the breadsticks and three meat cuscino as appetizers. The breadsticks were delicious, especially with the homemade alfredo. The meatball was good - too much meat for me but everyone else loved it. I had the spinach and mushroom ravioli which was fabulous. Tons of fresh spinach, tender mushrooms and a decadent white sauce. I didn't get dessert but my dining partners gave the cheesecake 2 thumbs up, and they said the cinnamon roll was incredible. Fantastic find well worth a return visit. read more

Third time I've stopped at Salvatori's on my way to or from a soccer game in Michigan, and this place never disappoints! The food is always amazing and the atmosphere cozy. On this visit we split a loaded calzone with marinara for dipping. It was cheesy, full of meat, sauce and veggies and super filling. We also split a small house salad - it was so full it spilled over the bowl! Finally we got one of their decadent cinnamon rolls to go - perfect with a cup of coffee later in our hotel room. Not just authentic, but, BOMB DOT COM Good! Incredibly good small thin crust pizza that is probably one of my top 5 and a spicy cajun rigatoni in a creamy Alfredo sauce that was seriously so good! The first thing that dawned on me was how good it was and it is located in gas station. 2.5hrs from my house and I stumbled upon this as I was near ft Wayne Indiana. Elle was an amazing waitress so please go see her, she told us exactly what to get. A small little place with maybe 10-12 parking spots that are probably meant for gas station guests but don't let that detour you! You will not regret this. It's worth a long drive to experience it. Two experiences this weekend: Dine-in Friday night with my Indiana family, had excellent, friendly, efficient customer service, large portions, absolutely delicious pastas, breadsticks and sangria. Saturday afternoon, I placed a take-out order on their website. They forgot an item that we didn't notice until we were 10 miles away, but the manager, Tom, went out of his way to make it right for us. The pizzas were delicious, especially the spicy one with homemade giardiniera! Wow!! I could only wish they had a bigger place... but you could bet it would still be crowded because it is so good! Next time we're in Indiana we'll be back for sure. read more

This place might have the best Italian in Fort Wayne! We ate at the New Haven location, which is the original location. I got the Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad and it was so good! The salad had crushed up croutons mixed into the salad so every bite had a nice crunch. And the dressing was so full of flavor. It might be the best Caesar salad around! I also got the lasagna to go but had a few bites while it was hot. It was amazing and might be my new favorite! I will definitely be returning to Salvatori's for sure!! read more

Oh my goodness! This place is phenomenal! We are in town visiting and it was the first place that popped up when we were looking for dinner ideas. We were confused at first because of the location but still wanted to try it. When we got there it was busy! We were told there was a wait and it ended up being a little less wait time. They were playing a lot of frank sinatra music and it really made it cozy and fun. The staff were really nice and on top of it. You couldn't tell if they were stressed. They all seemed to work together very well. We ordered some cheese bread as an appetizer, pasta dishes and cannoli. It was absolutely amazing and delicious! Pasta was cooked perfectly, sauce was delicious and that meatball... can't wait to go back and try more! read more

What a gem of a place! My family randomly stopped here on a drive home and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the Cajun rigatoni and sausage and it was delicious. The portions are the largest I've ever seen. I left with another 3 meals worth of dinner just off of my single entree order. You often see gas stations where food mart and fast food chain are combined in one building, but this place is unique in a way that it is not connected to the store inside, and it's a sit-down dining where servers bring food to your table. I was on my way to Detroit from Indianapolis , wanted something for dinner but wasn't really in a mood for gas station food or fast food... I was fortunate to find this place because the service was great and food was quick. The dining area is not big and tables are close from each other but it was not crowded yet when I got there for dinner (Saturday night). Server was super nice and I ordered a linguine with chopped clams in white garlic butter sauce. To be honest this pasta dish was below my expectations as the sauce was rather watery and didn't have rich butterly taste or texture. I tasted more of the veggie medley (green peas and carrots) more than clams or the sauce... my menu choice was a miss but I'm pretty sure there are good items I would enjoy. Overall This is a solid choice for someone who wants to take a break with warm food during a road trip!! read more
