This place is soo cool! And not in the waiters in white suits or cutting edge interior design type of way. It's a community center where the spanish locals, young and old hang out. The front facade has the look of a church so it's hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. When you walk inside there's a crowd of older men standing near the bar watching the football (soccer) game on tv and drinking. The space opens up to a dining hall-ish area where you can seat yourself. It was almost empty when we went; on one side of us was a spanish couple in their 30's, an older man by himself at another table, and a group of young 20's (including asians) at our right. The tapas available are in the back on a white board and average at $10/plate. Thank goodness I came with my Spanish friend because he knew exactly what to order, even though we ordered everything on the menu. Except he ordered for us in Spanish, and our nice waitress didn't flinch when we asked for all the wines they had in stock. The food came and... Oh YES!!!!! I swear, I swear, I suh-WARE it was the BEST octopus I've ever had! The most tender, juicy, flavorful octopus that melted in my mouth! And then, I got all up in the octopus flava (oil) with my bread and dunked away. The tortilla was great. The shrimp was my bf's favorite and the chorizo was my friend's fave. The wines were perfect! So buttery smooth! This isn't a restaurant so people don't come here to eat exactly. It's a place to watch Spain play soccer on the big screen tv and chill out with friends and family - parents and grandparents are talking at the table, kids running around to occasionally check the score of the game. But man, that octopus is going to have me comin' back for more, even if I have to come back by myself. Cash only!

Great food, reunited with old friends. Casa Galicia is always a stop when ever we return to NYC.

This is the best spanish restaurant in NY, and probably in the whole US. Period.

Awful. Incredibly rude and unfriendly to our entire party from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Almost comically so.

The food isn't maybe the best in town, but the pulpo is f**king good.

There was always someone to fill our water or check in on us, and even dirty napkins were removed and replaced. Some of the best service I've ever experienced! As far as my gut issues go, I had no trouble with the dishes I eventually went with: the Burrata flatbread pizza and the Chocolate Salted Caramel Soufflé. Both were absolutely scrumptious. The ambience is classy and soothing, not too loud, even as they got busier later in the evening. Overall a perfect experiene. I will definitely be making Bocado my weekend go-to!

The menu is impressively large, which made it easy for everyone at our table to find something they wanted -- including this hungry vegetarian. The food was delicious, comforting, and satisfying, with plenty of options whether you are looking for something light or a fuller meal. One of the little highlights was the bread basket, which added such a warm, welcoming touch to the table. There is something about good bread arriving at the beginning of a meal that immediately makes the experience feel more generous and inviting. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, making it a nice place to settle in, catch up, and enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. For a large group, that combination of location, variety, good food, and welcoming service really matters -- and Bocado delivered.

But after trying their cuisine, this restaurant became more than just a place to watch a mini concert, glass of wine in hand. My favorite dish here is their carbonara, and I dare say, it may be the best carbonara I've ever had. The pasta is wonderfully creamy with generous bits of guanciale. I mean, just look at this beauty - it's glistening! As though this dish weren't creamy enough, it's topped with a half cracked egg, the yolk a vibrant orange. The idea here is that you incorporate the yolk into the pasta while it's still warm. This is a French restaurant after all, so I will warn you that the service here is quite European. From my experience sitting at the bar, the server won't fuss over you as you dine, and if you needed anything, you would have to flag him down. It's not an issue to me. I don't like feeling rushed at dinner. Just looking at the marvel that is this carbonara is a reminder that I should book another reservation here soon.

Nicely appointed 3 stars for food. The AOC burger was ordered for Medium rare and came back medium. The French Onion Soup was recommended but my friend said it wasn't cheesy enough and the cheese seemed to get stuck to the bowl and not enough in the soup. The Brussels sprouts were rocking. The prosecco was delicious. But still a 3 star rating because we expected more in terms of flavor and getting the burger order right. I'd come back and order something different.
