I'm usually not one to write bad reviews , however sometimes I feel the need to advise people so they don't have the same horror experience. I am a Brazilian native and I travel a lot , with that said I have been to tons of restaurants , specially Brazilian ones and I must say this is the worst I've ever been . From service to food , please save yourself the disappointment and just go elsewhere . We visited on Sunday 7/12 . I made a reservation online and I browsed through the menu just to have an idea , the place was also recommended by a friend who has been there . Here is how it went : Arrival : not necessarily a warm welcome you want when you walk into a place , we had reservations and arrived at that exact time , the place was pretty much EMPTY aside from us and one other table . They set us at a table that was a hit uncomfortable (way too small) we asked if we could sit at a different table and were told it was reserved ( to who ? The ghost ?) because there was no one else there and even if they arrived there were plenty of other seats. Eventually she set us at a different table . The whole place is old and outdated , with large mirrors on the wall that are not properly secured. I had some questions about the menu since it seemed to be different than the one I found online so I started asking some questions and the waitress had no clue and obviously didn't understand English , so since I also speak Portuguese I figured I speak to her in Portuguese but guess what ? She didn't speak that either ( you work in a Brazilian restaurant in America so you either speak Portuguese or English ) so I found out she speaks Spanish no problem because I speak that as well . Asked her about the menu in Spanish and she still sounded confused and had to go in the kitchen and ask . Not to mention the menu u online says they have boiled yucca and there it only says fried so that is false advertisement. As you can tell the whole waitress service was just a sh... show and it didn't even end there but we will talk about that later on . The food : Ordered Picanha , linguica , boiled yucca and carne seca. The Picanha was DEFINITELY NOT PICANHA, that meat had so much fat and nerve on it it was horrible , not to mention iron it. Was as hard as a shoe . The linguica was basically mediocre slim piece so also no good The carne seca came in a bowl of French onion soup and the cheese on top was so burned we almost needed a hammer to get through the cheese and get to the meat which was also nothing to brag about . The only thing worth saving was the boiled yucca , as least that was done the right way . Back to the waitress , not only she didn't know the menu she also didn't know how to operate ( or read English) the machine to place the order , I technically had to do it with her and show her the correct options . After we were served she basically disappeared and we even had to get up from the table to go ask for the check . ( even that part of the job we had to do ) We were also served warm water and it was 85 degrees outside . Wow !! I haven't had such horrible experience in a very long time , it was so bad we ate whatever was eatable , paid the bill and went elsewhere . Oh and let me not forget the fact she gave us an attitude at the end , didn't say thank you or have a nice day in any language would be nice , but NO !! I guess she didn't like the tip which she was lucky enough to even get one for terrible service and terrible food . Completely overpriced for the food and service they provide . Kind attentive waitstaff is about all there is to say beyond the drinks. Overcooked, tough, dry meat, no flavor whatsoever. Day-old, mealy, flavorless rice. Had the picanaha and marinated beef appetizer with Yuma crisps - meat was warmed over and old tasting, just a shade away from microwaved . Been awhile since I've been to a Brazilian restaurant that I haven't visited at least once so I decided to come around here. It was around lunch time that I came in and the place was virtually empty, though that's not a complaint since it means better service. The one waiter that was around was very courteous and attentive. I opted on the Beija Flor Burger lunch special with fries and some Mango juice. Not gonna lie, it was the longest I've waited for food, about 20 minutes even for an empty seating area. Wait aside, when the food finally arrived, it was plated very well and the food was delish. The fries were nice and crisp, even salted very well, it was very appetizing. The burger was tender and solid, it was a nice lunch. I may have overindulged myself, the waiter asked if I wanted dessert and I said "why not?" What was originally a $25 meal became $41 with the addition of the Brigadeiro Caseiro & mochacino. Extremely positive first experience! (tl;dr at bottom of review) I'm from the neighborhood so I definitely have my fair share of Brazilian places to choose from. Got delivery from Beija Flor tonight which was well discounted as a first-time customer, so that was a great start! Roommate is Brazilian so I thought I'd get him a little something to help cheer him up and cure the "saudades do Brasil" he's been complaining about lately. It worked! He loves and misses the carne seca that he grew up with in the northeast so we ordered the escondidinha. It's like a cottage or shepard's pie but with yucca instead of potatoes and without lamb or peas. This version was delicious. It had cheese on top which gave it a nice creamy-saltiness. To me the yucca was like the melted southern biscuits from baked casseroles. It was so good! Brazilians make a great version of Russian Strogonoff but theirs felt very elevated. It tasted like it had roasted garlic and maybe a splash of something acidic like red wine vinegar but overall it was definitely head and shoulders above the typical buffet style chicken "Strogonoffe" I'm used to in the area. Rice was typical (beware of the tiny red pepper served on top as it is quite spicy!). Brazilian style pork and beans were exceptional. They taste like American style pork and beans but they don't add molasses or brown sugar and I prefer them unsweetened when I eat Brazilian food. Coxinhas are like pizza or sex to me. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. These were definitely great as well. tl;dr First time ordering from this place. Did it for a homesick buddy. We both loved it! I was in the long island city area and happened to pass this restaurant. The restaurant is actually very small, but aesthetically pleasing; has a bohemian vibe. Our server was friendly and took our order fairly quickly. We ordered a pitcher of passion fruit capiriña, the cheesy bread as an appetizer and the steak as the entree. The food did take a while but it was totally worth the wait. The drink was refreshing and strong. The cheesy bread was warm and a great way to start the meal. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and was packed with buttery flavor. It also came with a side of rice and beans which were also very delicious. On an especially cold day, I stumbled onto this Gem. I was met with warm, friendly service and food that almost felt tailored to my palette. Our server was uniquely attentive without being intrusive. I adored the rustic & floral decor and the drinks somehow complimented our orders. I'll say this: We came hungry. If you're looking to grab a drink and enjoy live music then I certainly recommend dropping by. If you are looking to have lunch, dinner, or cocktails and a bite: I do not recommend. I have been to Beija Flor for both dinner, lunch, and pre dinner bites and cocktails. Overall I would say the food is just okay - normal size portions, okay flavor, and ultimately something outside of the NYC norm to try. Tonight, I had an experience that left me not wanting to come back. I ordered two premium capirinhas guava flavored and got a cocktail that tasted like college jungle juice. When I told the waitress after one sip of the drink she said all she could do was add more juice. When she returned with the drink it tasted even worse. The manager came by and asked if everything was good. I said no these drinks are not good and ordered something else. When our bill came much to our surprise the drinks were still on the bill. Honestly something I would have been willing to ignore if it weren't for the waitress who came by to pick up plates and slid a sauce off the plate and slammed it on the table. What a terrible experience and such a shame because it really is a wonderful crowd and amazing music. To sum it up, the music is amazing, the staff is rude if you disagree, the food is just okay- better off at Copacabana grabbing the cafeteria style food and coming to drink here after. I came to this Brazilian restaurant for their live music and we had a great time. It was Latin Restaurant Week and Stella Artois was in the house. We had their burger and their chicken. The chicken was an appetizer which can easily feed three people. The portions here are huge. The burger was nice and tender and served with perfectly crispy fries. They had a live band from Friday to Sunday. Saturday they said is can get crowded but it's the most entertaining day and it is highly recommended to get reservations. Looking for a Brazilian restaurant that's not a chain, this is your spot. The minute you walk in you can tell it feels like a close knit restaurant. The minute we ordered the apps and I took a bite it tasted exactly like what would Come straight from my mom's kitchen. Every dish felt like it was made with love, and has delicious flavor and seasoning. The staff was delightful and attentive. First things first, I want to give a huge shoutout to the servers here... so kind and attentive and answered my friend's and my questions very thoughtfully. Atmosphere is lovely too, it has a cozy vibe with nice dinner lighting. I could go on and on about the Feijoada which was one of the most delicious stews I've had in a very long time - the smoky flavor of the sauce combined with the rich sausage and beans tasted simply unreal. We got the Moqueca Baiana (fish/shrimp coconut stew, which comes with rice, yucca powder) and Picanha na Chapa (sirloin steak comes with rice, beans, yucca powder, and pickled vegetables) both for $28. They were both good, but the quiet star of the meal was the farofa (yucca powder) - add that to your rice and beans, and it really enhances the flavor. The stew was a little thinner than I expected, but mixed well with the rice. The shrimp was not overcooked, which I appreciated, and there were 4 of them. The steak was ordered to a medium rare, and the garlic on top added well to the taste. Otherwise, a standard, good steak - there were 2 pieces of them, which I'm not sure is standard or not. On another visit, we ordered the flan and this is a MUST. It's one of my favorite flan that I've ordered, on par with Casa Enrique's in terms of deliciousness, but the texture/taste is different. I have to try Lety's Bakery's flan again to see if this place replaces them as my go-to flan. read more

The live band definitely added to the overall vibe and ambiance of the restaurant. The lighting here is also nicely dimmed as well. My buddy and I ordered the Churrasco Misto for 2 which was pretty good. We just wish that the portion size of the steak was more. The "Little Brazil" scene was once one of the great micro-communities that at its peak, could've been considered a pseudo ethnic enclave. The area has since dissipated with the closure of bars, restaurants, and even my favorite underground churrascaria (#1) but only a handful of bizes remain, which includes Beija Flor. They have been consistent as a venue that offers a little bit of everything: quality food, great drinks, live music, and a fun, date worthy atmosphere. In the pre-pandemic version of this place, I enjoyed quiet weeknights in their serene yet group friendly dining room and also loved the energetic weekends with live Brazilian music and fun vibes. Whether it was date nights, group outings, or simply a solo night at the bar, I always had a good time. Service is generally a bit more relaxed than most hustle-n-bustle spots in the neighborhood, so dining in a hurry would not be recommended. Food wise, I'm obsessed with their moqueca de peixe ($26). It's a fish and shrimp based stew that is cooked in palm oil, coconut milk, rice, and fish gravy. It's so good that I just wish there was more of it instead of a small'ish bowl. I also think their traditional dish, feijoada ($24) really shows off the meaty flavor of the stew. Both of these dishes go well with rice. While I'm never opposed to the bacalhau or picanha, I think a better deal is their churrasco misto, which is really a pile of meat on a board served with fries, rice, and is one of their heartiest options. I'm also strangely loving their yucca mash, which is rich and my favorite side dish. Their drinks are a fun addition to the experience, which I think is best encapsulated by their caipirinha cocktails. It's a little too easy to have more than one and get completely sauced while watching people dance on the weekends to lively music. When in doubt, go with the passion fruit. My sincere hope is that they continue to keep the Brazilian presence alive in western Queens (#2) and continue to serve quality food. First time going to Beija Flor and you have to go! This cute and lively restaurant left the best impressions! All the meals ordered were to die for and melted in our mouths. From the grilled salmon with vegetables, to the burger, to the mixed green salad with grilled shrimp, to the shrimp with garlic sauce, and the yuca fries, everything was *chef's kiss* mouth-watering! Service was excellent! The servers were efficient and polite. Cícero was hands-down such a hospitable, welcoming, accommodating, and friendly host! Our party went to celebrate a birthday and he came out with a candle sparkler on the most delicious and creamiest flan while the band sang "Happy Birthday" in Portuguese! Here they don't have parking so street parking it is. but depending on when you get here it is not super hard to get parking They have live music on certain days so make sure to check it out cause if you love it yay if not nay cause there is a cover charge associated with the live music. Also pay attention if you come in and the band starts well after you been there cause they may sneak the cover charge on you too. Here they have Brazilian food and it is all a la cart, so don't expect a buffet not a by the weight. The atmosphere is nice, the decor is warm and sophisticated. The staff is friendly and very accommodating to larger and small parties, however keep in mind that they do have live music here on certain days and then it can be very difficult to find a table. But they are amazing to try and accommodate, they will try to give you a table for a quick dinner whenever possible even if they are all booked. We came over for a late dinner. We were a larger group but at the time we came it was near closing time so it worked our just fine. They were amazing Batida de coco- amazing, a must try when coming here, nice and sweet. Loads of coconut flavor and little coconut pieces. this is my go to cocktail here. Guarana- this is a very popular soda in brazil, I love it and if you never had you should! Pasteis de queijo- I was not impressed with them, the cheese was almost non existant I was expecting a lot more cheese, this appetizer is not a great idea. It comes with a ketchup and mayo sauce and still did not save it. They should add more cheese and have the pastry a little drier cause it was a bit too fatty Manjar de coco- that takes the prize, amazing!! Not heavy and very yummy with lots of coconut pieces, loved it. Brigadeiro- this mousse was a little heavier so unless u are a crazy chocolate lover this is not for you, this dessert is very strong and thick. Pao de queijo- as expected, fresh and warm from the oven very nice, these are worth to have for sure. So I been here plenty of times and some of them the food was amazing and others not so much, I think I don't have a pic but the feijoada is awesome, you might have to order your protein separately but none the less it is a very worth it dish. The Picanha Na Chapa is absolute garbage. The sirloin steak with rice and beans for $35 is a ripoff. The steak literally tasted like it came straight from the microwave. The steak texture was plastic/rubber and it didn't taste god. You can get a better deal going to a Chili's or an Applebees or an Outback steakhouse for much less money and get better steak.
