Always loved this place free roaming birds! Been here for so long and still love it! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a bird!

This place is so awesome. They have free roaming birds, they have a variety of options of birds, all different sizes too. I found my baby there today and I found my new favorite place is GR. The owner and staff are the sweetest, friendliest people. They answer all your questions and just talk to you as genuine people and I love love that in a business. Their shop is so clean which I was so impressed with especially with seeing how many birds they have. They have SO many toys to choose from and even though I couldn't take my bird home today (because she was still too young), they told me I can come in everyday and visit and I even got to walk around the place with my bird and let her pick out toys. All birds are sterile and they wont tell you that. I got told by one of the old employees that used to work there and told me that they sterile all their birds thats why you can't breed them or they wont live their original life span. Wont recomendable to buy there unless your looking to have a bird for short time period. read more

First thing's first: I know NOTHING about birds. I don't own a bird and I've never been around them. As a pet owner and lover- birds are NOT my expertise. But that's why I have a few things to mention; Casa La Parrot is definitely off the beaten path (at least mine- I really don't make it to 28th street much if I can help it) and it's pretty quaint, slightly crowded- but charming! Every staff member I came in contact with was extremely friendly, never seeming bothered or annoyed and generally pleasant. This is BIG. Specialty shops of any sort can seem intimidating, unwelcoming and cold and let's face it; having a complete rookie asking silly questions really isn't the most enjoyable work-time task. It's refreshing to be around connoisseur or even novice level folks who seem happy that you're interested in their niche. As someone who hasn't ever cared about becoming a bird-owner, I now really want a parrot--so, there's that. I have a feeling I may be updating this someday with my new found bird enthusiasm! This is only four versus five stars due to my lack of bird knowledge or knowing anything about the quality of product they carry. read more

Incompetence 100% drove 3 hrs round trip and spent about an hour there to get DNA done on our macaw. They claimed it would take 2 weeks for results. I called 2 weeks later like they said to (if we didnt hear from them) ahe said "we havent heard back from DNA place and may take another week, we will call you for sure when we find out more info." So i waited over 3 weeks after no call back to give them another buzz. Jessica answered the phone and replied "DNA place hasnt recieved it because we possibly didnt put ENOUGH postage on it" and was very rude. although she did offer a refund, i told her it wasnt worth 3 hr drive and cost more in gas than to get refund. She said they would send me the check! Besides being very rude, she did reply that if i mentioned any of this and gave a bad review, that she would just respong on here that i was rude and i was in the wrong! Are you serious?!?!?!? They are very incompeten, and when called ou on it, they blame the customer. I will drive to another state than deal with people with this kind of treatment to their customers. My question is..... if your business has been inoperation fo over 41 yrs, wouldnt you already know how much postage to send a DNA that you have dont countless times in 41 yrs?!?!? Also to send with no tracking info on a delicate matter is just MiNd BoGgLiNg!!!!!!! read more

Don't have a bird, but I definitely would shop here if I did. Wide variety of toys, birds, cages, and other related products. I also believe their staff are very knowledgable and can answer any question you might have. I loved visiting and browsed for about an hour interacting with the blue and gold macaws. read more

They have a pretty nice collection of birds, but their prices are excessively high and the staff are ridiculously rude and snobbish. Nothing quite like being talked down to by retail employees. Also, why have the birds out or in open top enclosures and make sanitizing liquid available, which would seem to encourage interaction with the animals, then actively discourage customers from interacting with the animals? I overheard one staff member telling a potential customer that he simply would not sell her a bird if he didn't observe there to be a rapport between the customer and the bird. When the customer asked if she could hold the bird so as to develop a rapport, the staff member refused to let her, stating that if the bird didn't like her now, it would never like her, as these birds are very particular and set in their ways. The people at this place are complete idiots, and behave like snobs to compensate for it. read more
