Casa Laguna is a fantastic venue. I say venue as the approach to the restaurant is amazing. Located in the Marina you walk among the million dollar yachts and all the lights approaching the entrance.
As we arrived there was a fantastic saxophone player who was playing along with backing tracks to a lot of U.S. standards from 40's to Kenny G to modern groups. He was excellent.
We were seating and ordered our drinks. We were on a Sangria kicks so we ordered Sangria which is a combination of red wine and lemonade or fresh squeezed lemon and sparkling water. At this location the Sangria wasn't very sweet so if you like a sweet Sangria this one is not that type.
The food was very good. I think the atmosphere really provides a lot of relaxation with all the lights and nice music playing throughout your meal.
For starters they give you fried zucchini which is lightly breaded. This was a nice way to start dinner. For starters I had the octopus and toasts. This was one of the best octopus dishes I have had in Mazatlan. This was Ajillo style (garlic) with nice big chunks of octopus. Quite a large portion which could be shared with two but no one is sharing my octopus!
For my main course I had Imperial Shrimps which are one of the dishes you can always find at most restaurants in Mazatlan being the shrimp capital. These were huge shrimp probably U11-15. U size means you will get UNDER 15 shrimp per pound so you can imagine how big U15 shrimp get. These shrimp are sliced open and stuffed with cheese, then tightly wrapped with a blanket of bacon from tip to tail and then grilled. Oh yeah, it's rich and it's great. 6 shrimp are served and trust me, you will be stuff like the shrimp when you are done with this dish, especially after the Pulpo for the appetizer.
We didn't do dessert, too full. This is a beautiful place for dinner, can be very romantic if you have a special event, and don't wear shorts or a t-shirt, pants and shirt and shoes are the attire for this place.
5 stars. read more
