For drinks we had the Maracuya Juice and the Chicha Pisco Sour. It was very smooth. For food we ordered Chaufa Rice with Seafood, Pescado Saltado and Ceviche Mixto. Each dish was pretty big, even to share and take home. Flavor was exactly like Peruvian food should taste (my mom is Peruvian and I have been in Peru a few times). Los Chapines, is the place for some amazing Guatemalan food. I had an order of the revuelta pupusas, cheese and meat and beans. They were very authentic and good sized. They are served with a vinegar slaw and red sauce. I could have eating many more, they were just like my moms. Then I noticed that tamales were on the menu. I ordered a tamale con carne, pork tamale. Huge tamale with a nice sauce and veggies. Served with bread very traditional dish. Lights out the best tasting tamale that I have had in years. The restaurant is tucked back in the plaza next to a Dotties. Very unassuming location. They also have many other Latin favorites on the menu and a bakery! OMG, I hit the lottery. The menu is mostly small plates and they recommend 2 to 3 dishes per person. We ordered five total. I ordered the jicama salad, octopus and snapper-- all of the items were delicious and there was nothing left on my plate. The Bartender forgot my colleague drink, but once we let them know, got it right away and comped it. Overall, an amazing experience and would highly recommend. The owner did let us in a few minutes earlier as they continued to set up the tables. The interior felt like we were in Cuba, not that I've been but I imagined the decor would be like this . The owner is very friendly, took the time to explain any questions we had as we are not familiar with Cuban cuisine, this included how to properly enjoy some of the dishes. Everything we had tasted fantastic, full of flavors, fresh, just delicious. The empanadas were definitely our favorite, we saw a Cuban lady coming in and taking two big boxes of them, we almost wanted to ask her where the party is at. I'm thinking about those empanadas while writing this review, I think I need to go back again soon.
