My husband and I have eaten here before but it's been a couple of years so we decided to go for dinner on a Friday evening. It was around 7:00 and only a few tables were occupied near the window, while the rest of the dining room was empty, as well as the bar. We ordered a soda and delicious lavender blueberry cocktail which was nicely garnished and tasted great! We informed the bartender that we were gluten free and started with the tuna tartar gluten free (no soy sauce). It came out with regular bread which the bartender quickly absconded from the runner as it was not gluten free. I appreciated the urgency and thanked him. By the time the gluten free flatbread came out, we had taken a bite of the tuna. It was warm, and it tasted like it's been left out for a while. The color you see in the picture is not filtered. We thought maybe it was the lighting above the bar, but sadly, it wasn't. When we were asked if we were ready to order entrees, I explained to the bartender that we need the check because that tuna was absolutely awful and should never be served to a guest. He looked bewildered but gave us the check. We were charged $25 for that obviously expired tuna tartar. Now that I've checked Yelp, I see that the restaurant has multiple health code violations. I'm not surprised given the lack of quality and complete disregard for guest service. Sadly, another once fine restaurant is off my list of places to go. read more

Cute spot on the UES. We came here for brunch and it was not too crowded on a Saturday afternoon. The interior was stunning and thoughtfully decorated. We ordered the pancakes, burger, and lamb kebab wrap. The wrap was tasty and packed with colorful veggies. The burger was cooked well and the patty was juicy. My boyfriend asked for everything on the side, so just a heads up that the burger does not normally come like it does in the picture. We went here just before taking the Gandola over to Roosevelt Island because it was very near the area. The vibes are nice, super decorative and nice setting. We ordered an espresso martini that wasn't the greatest. The food was just OK, nothing special for the price, there are other places in the city that have similar food for much cheaper. Delicious!! I was here for lunch, end of February 2026. We were a table of 8 people. Food and service were excellent. I definitely recommend enjoying a meal here. Located on First Avenue, between 61-62nd Streets. In warm weather, there are a few small outdoor tables. We have several appetizers for the table. We enjoyed the fresh, beautiful salad. Several of my colleagues were very impressed with the olive oil on the salad. I just know that all the food I ate was delicious. LOL ABOUT THAT SALAD--the beautiful red tomatoes, cut in quarter chunks were delicious. The round, thin slices of cucumber with a yummy dressing were great. I tasted a bit of sweetness at first bite with the cucumber slices . My faves were the tomatoes and cucumbers in the salad, there was also fresh red onion, green pepper, possibly red pepper too. Overall, a delicious salad, served feta cheese triangles. Other appetizers we enjoyed were: Spinach pie, fresh warm Pita triangles with delicious dips, a round, deep fried feta cheese ...if you can imagine an egg roll, but with feta cheese inside, and a honey sauce. my entrée was absolutely delicious. It was the Koftedes Plate, featuring delicious lamb/beef patties, juicy and delicious. As far as I was concerned, my flavor on these was totally lamb. Absolutely delicious. Also on the plate: mixed greens, red pepper delicious tzatziki sauce in a small dipping cup-perfect size. And a yummy rice portion-loved it! The lamb patties were on top of the warm pita. I loved this.!! It was flavorful, juicy, and delicious. Many of my colleagues ordered the chicken kebabs and they loved it. The plates also had mixed greens and a sauce. And one person had the dorado fish which she said was delicious; a small size portion size but delicious. I missed seeing the fish, I was busy eating the yummy food in front of us. Sorry, I didn't photo the fish. I look forward to coming back. I might even have the same thing again! It was so good. Service was excellent, friendly, fun and professional and patient. Atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. Unisex rest room was clean, and small. On the street, You'll see flowers surrounding the front windows and entrance. And, in nice weather, there are usually a few small tables outside. Sea Salt Restaurant is located on First Avenue between E. 61st St. and E. 62nd St. It is across the street from Rodney's, formally called Rodney Dangerfield's club. Half a block away you will see the orange sign of Home Depot. And about a block and a half away, you will see Trader Joe's located under the 59th St., Bridge. So if you need a reason to come to FIRST AVENUE..., you have Trader Joe's and Home Depot waiting for you, and Rodney's too, and a nearby Starbucks. The waiters were really friendly and the restaurant had really nice decorations and great ambiance. We came here for lunch and I got the chicken kebab. It came with 6 pieces of chicken, rice, tzatziki sauce, and salad. The chicken went really well with the tzatziki sauce. Their menu is interesting because we were given both the brunch and lunch menu. I noticed that there was "chicken kebab plate" on the brunch menu and "chicken kebab" on the lunch menu. I asked the waiter what the difference between the 2 were (if there was any difference at all) especially since the price was the same, and he said that the lunch portion is a bit bigger. So, I went with the lunch portion. Not sure if it is actually bigger since I did not have the brunch version to compare it to, but just thought this was interesting given that it was the same price. I've never seen this before, but our bill was a total, and there's mention of a "cash discount" (instead of a 3% charge for credit card). I was pretty nervous about coming here. The reviews were great, but we had on a whim so we can be close to the Roosevelt island tram with two young children. It was lunchtime on a Monday is very quiet with only three tables. As soon as we sat down, I thought the prices were a little steep for lunch. Nonetheless, we had already selected the restaurant. My review lost a star because we waited almost an hour for our food to come including bread. The waiter never checked in with us to let us know. However, the food blew me away. If this is what Greece is supposed to be like I want to fly there now. All of the dishes were truly authentic and nothing like many of the Greek food I have ever had. Hummus was not even a highlight on the appetizers. There were a lot of dishes that I had never tried before. One of them was the beef yogurt dumplings. I thought it was such a strange concept, but it turned out to be one of my favorite dishes. The fried cheese was spot on. The bread balanced it. I also really enjoyed the moussaka. The only dish that I would not get again is the fish. I thought it was a little standard. What turned out to be a random try turned out to be something that I would return to in the future if I want a real Greek food experience. The place looked sophisticated. The bar was vast, and tables had enough privacy from each other. Once the whole party joined, we all ordered a different drink to toast. It was a bummer we waited a longer than usual time for them to come out. The wait was a little ridiculous for drinks in a half empty restaurant. Other than that the service was pretty great. The waiters were very cordial. Once the drinks arrived ($16-$18) I was impressed with a beet/ pomegranate drink I ordered. The flavors weren't overpowering, it was delicious to drink. For appetizers we ordered the Mezze Sampler which was 3 different types of hummus and well made pita bread ($25) Our absolute favorite was the red pepper walnut spread. We also ordered Spanakopita ($16) which is a traditional Greek pie of spinach, feta cheese and seasonings baked in phyllo. It melted in your mouth! So so good. For main me and one of my friends had Veggie Pasta ($19) and our other friend had Mussels ($19). She noted the mussels tasted like the sea, but in a good way. I pass by this restaurant all the time when I'm walking to and from the gym. I always admired the floral decor at the entrance. Today I finally got to try out the restaurant during its happy hour mid-afternoon. I'm not a drinker but I was interested in the food menu and was impressed with each dish I tried. My friend and I shared basically the entire happy hour food menu. It's a very good value in a clean and modern setting with courteous and attentive service. By the time we were done, the place had filled up (and it was only a little past 5pm). We saw a lot of good looking dishes and were happy to learn brunch, lunch, and dinner service are also offered here. Came for a very late lunch around 2:30 PM and it was completely empty as expected. Super cozy spot. The wall of flowers outside definitely makes it look very inviting and picturesque. Staff member seated us and was the only one manning the host desk, the bar, and waiter for us. Food came out a little slow. The prefix menu is really not a bad option for $35 to get an appetizer, entree, and a dessert! The only thing is that not everything on the menu can be found on the prefix menu and the portion size of the grilled octopus would be an appetizer and not an entree portion. My coworker and i shared a grilled octopus and chicken souvlaki. Octopus was delicious and cooked perfectly. The chicken was good but a little dry. Stopped in here with my friend after going to Shaken not Stirred bar which is like right next door to here. We had no idea that this restaurant/bar is powered by Shaken not stirred. When we sat at the bar for a drink, I noticed that the cocktail menu was the same as it was at other place. The bar area here was nice and we chatted with the bartender for a little. This was my second time at Sea Salt. The first time I came for lunch which was very good. Wednesday we came for a 4pm early dinner. The waiter was attentive, but we did find the constant various members of the staff asking if we were ready to order entrees annoying. We had ordered drinks and appetizers and did not understand the rush for the entree order, there were plenty of tables. The main issues; I have Celiac Disease and appreciate that their menu clearly states GF options. I ordered the Lamb Chops which were labeled as a GF dish (not an inexpensive dish). It came with fries. I was concerned about the cross contamination and asked for the fries to be substituted for Jasmine rice. The waiter said that wasn't possible and I would need to pay the additional $8 for the substitution. My daughter spoke with, the original waiter we had, and explained my health condition (this is all very stressful when eating out). He also said we cannot substitute on $50 lamb chops. Honestly, I was in shock. On the food note, the lamb chops had little flavor, the branzino was under seasoned, and the salad with grilled shrimp was just ok. The best dish we had was the appetizer of GF scallops and spinach risotto. On to dessert. I was very excited as the first listing on the menu was GF Blueberry Cheese Cake, which I ordered and was told we don't have it! Do you have decaf coffee? No! It's NYC for God's sake who doesn't have decaf coffee in 2026. I am use to navigating restaurants with my disease, but honestly don't present yourself as a restaurant as if you're concerned about health conditions and/or allergies when you are unwilling to make an accommodation. I had really high hopes for Sea Salt due to the great reviews and their beautiful website. Unfortunately, the food fell pretty flat. Three of us had brunch at Sea Salt on a Saturday. I had the sirloin burger. The onions were not caramelized and were barely cooked, and my fries on the side were missing the cheese. I ordered the burger medium but it was very well done. My friend got an omelet - which was okay, but her potatoes also had no cheese, and they never brought her bacon. My other friend had the feta rolls which she said were good! Our Greek sangria was extremely watery. The service was definitely very friendly and attentive, so big kudos there. Unfortunately, with so many great brunch options, I would not come back again. Nice ambiance and attentive service, but the food overall was lacking in flavor. We ordered the mezze sampler, spanakopita and tuna tartare to start. The dips were good, but a bit bland. The spanakopita had perfect texture but no taste other than spinach, which was a little bitter. The tuna tartare had a more mexican feel to it than greek, and was refreshing, but again was underseasoned and just tasted of raw tuna and avocado. For entrees we had the branzino, sea salt kofte and the lemon potatoes as a side. The fish was cooked perfectly and was a good sized portion, but sticking to the theme of the night, did not have any spices/seasoning on it. The kofte were tasty and were the only dish of the night that had good flavor to it. The lemon potatoes were mediocre and I have had much better elsewhere. The portions were as expected and we left feeling full. The prices were as expected for the area/atmosphere, not unreasonable but not cheap. Because the food fell flat and because there is no shortage of good Mediterranean (Turkish/Greek) restaurants in NYC, I do not plan to go back. read more
