We've gone several times and taken family that have not been there. They all liked the entrees that they ordered. The food is very good. Staff has been very friendly and gone out of their way to help with my 92 yr old Dad. Our food has come in a timely manner. A course timing is different when you go during lunch or dinner time which is understandable. We have not had any problem with service. First off this place is super bright on the inside. Ridiculously bright white fluorescent lighting like you are in an office or at a grocery store in the freezer section. way way WAY too bright inside. Stark gray walls. Such terrible room ambience. Food is just OK, very average food. not great. but salsa they bring with the chips is excellent. The music they are playing (all Mexican music ) is ok but seriously way too loud. Yikes I can't even hear myself think it's so damn loud inside here and I'm by myself! Prices aren't too bad. I got a two taco plate with beans and rice and a Pacifico beer. Would I come here again? Possibly. But most likely not. It's not that great. The music is cranked up so loud and I'm sorry but it is just ugly inside here with the super bright white light everywhere. The food it's just OK like I said, it is not fantastic Mexican food. It's just ordinary mex. Not sure if they make the food from scratch. It didn't taste like it. Recently I posted a review for Tio's Tacos in Doentown Riverside and gave them 0 stars but I actually gave them 1. But this place Casa Mota is completely opposite. Tucked in a hole in the wall by Arlington St in Riverside CA, this place has crazy awesome food, a fiery salsa, really good quantity per price, and most all they make you feel like home. Their customer service is brilliant. I was dealing with the owners son but everyone in that little place was awesome with their customer service. And I love it that this operation is a family run place. The dad was cooking in the kitchen and the son was outside managing. We ordered a bunch of food and plates and we were not at all disappointed. We were so happy with their salsa that we took some home and the next day we made some eggs and added to it. They also sell their own michilada mix. Try them guys, they are good. Oh and they are open late. read more

Alright. So, think of your local taqueria where the flavor is smackin and never lackin. Basic carne asada burrito, rice and beans, cilantro and onions. Flavor is consistent, call it in be ready when you get there. Place is clean, they have the caguamas in the back and menudo is good. Service is quick and the staff is friendly. This is the second time we stopped in at this place and for the second time it was pretty darn good. You can always tell if a Mexican place is good by their salsa and this place has really good salsa. The chips are nice and crispy too. This time I ordered the pozole with all the fixings and flour tortillas. It came out piping hot and smelled so good. Everything tasted great and the pozole was spicy just the way I like it. The only prob was the cabbage was a tad wilted. Other than that all was pretty perfect. If you come in on a Sunday expect to wait a bit but not too long there are plenty of tables. Absolutely Delicious!!!!!!!! My food group of 20 came here last night #friendfunTuesday . The location had set up a room for us and gave us free range to sit how and where we liked.. The gal who served us did an amazing job by taking everybody's order in a timely matter. They were short staffed (someone called in just 30 mins before their shift started) I would have never known. The place was busy but still they did a wonderful job.. All our food came out quick and warm. Our chip bowls and drinks were constantly being filled. This is Spanish restaurant was a great surprise. Only a quick 15 minutes from my house in Norco. Wow what a find! Real authentic Mexican food, including seafood. I'll give you the cons first. It can be a LONG wait to either get a table or to get your food BUT that's because it's so good. The place is popular and the food is fresh so just know right away that you might have to wait a while to enjoy it. It's a bit pricey as well but every where is experiencing inflation so that's not a surprise. Anyway, I love the enchiladas, the nacho, the tacos, the chilaquiles...my husband gets the asada fries almost exclusively, that's is fave. My kids love their tacos, especially the Al pastor. The food is so good. Took my mom out to eat, seated right away. The waitress came took our drink orders gave us chips came back and took her order. We received our food 10 to 15 minutes everything was so delicious. Prices are normal range for three people I paid $50 some dollars. I don't get to say this very often, but this particular little hole in the wall represents the best of the best of the Mom and Pop restaurants that embrace the south of the border influence. This appears to be a very popular spot with the most delightful, down home Mexican food and hospitality. We came on a Sunday morning and found it to be most casual, warm and friendly, and incredibly busy. Small wonder...excellent food, big portions, wonderful service, great prices. Close your eyes and you hear mostly Spanish spoken. There is Banda music broadcasting from the speakers, the music that sounds to me like a European polka music with its "um pa pa" tuba and brass component. Flair your nostrils and inhale, and your nose will pick up great down home smells of tortillas, carnitas, salsas, chile. Open your eyes and you find yourself surrounded by bright colors, archways, tables full of families sopping up the last of their bowls of dark red menudo or enchilada plates. You have my permission to start salivating, but go, find a seat. Every man for himself. No hostess here. Let's start with ingredients. This is "real lard" country! Sink your teeth into the complimentary chips and bright salsa and you will understand what I mean. In my experience, this is definitely a good thing, not for my waistline or occluded arteries but most certainly for my tastebuds. I was thrilled they offered 3 sizes of menudo. I ordered the small, and it was plenty. But next time, the medium bowl with a pata bone or two would sure be nice. Yes, I will definitely be coming here again, just for that (or maybe even the pozole). It was tremendous on so many levels, a complex, rich gelatinous broth that was generously packed full of oh so tender tripe and hominy. That alone could have stood on its own, but honestly, who wants to miss out on the chopped raw onions, cilantro, oregano, lime juice and chile? Not me. Superb! I am a big fan of a well done chimichanga. Mine was huge, filled with carnitas, beans and medium cheddar cheese. And I could barely make a dent. The guacamole that was spooned over the top was possibly the best I have ever tasted, and thus never made it into my leftovers box. Yes, leftovers. As in big time leftovers. Eight hours later and I am still not ready to eat. Mr. B loved his carnitas plate. A generous serving of shredded fried pork that, when done well, results in a most particular savory bite. This one was done very nicely and was quite moist. Not my all time favorite, but most enjoyable and recommended. Just an observation, as I am not a beer drinker, but they have serious beer here, quart sized bottles. Good to eliminate that day-after hangover I guess? Now for the constructive criticism. No flan! Just sayin'. And it was a brisk, 65 degrees inside. I know because I was staring at the thermostat. And it was a bit of a culture shock to see a vendor walking around, table to table, trying to sell cds. I guess we did not look like likely customers. He ignored us. Small "hole in the wall" mexican restaurant on Arlington near Van Buren. There's also a taco shop and pollo place in this same small strip mall. Came here on a Saturday about 1:30. It was pretty busy. A line for take out, but if you want to sit down and eat don't wait in the line. There's ample seating with table service. We had a breakfast burrito, shrimp fajitas plate, carnitas plate, 1 hard shell taco (shredded beef), campechana, 2 drinks. Hard shell taco was good, plenty of beef but I was told this place has the authentic style fried in shell taco and it was not. Campechana was expensive ($12.00) but was some of the best ever. Better than the food truck near LAC-USC, where I have been ordering campechana for years. I got the small size and it had plenty of avocado and at least a dozen shrimp. Also generous amount of fish and octopus. Only drawback is they serve it with regular saltines and it is better served with tortilla chips or a fried corn tortilla. I did not try the other items ordered but was told it was good. If you visit here, order campechana if nothing else. read more
