So I place an order late Tuesday night through Uber eats and I literally had the best surprise ever. I am vegan so I usually place a order for a dish and ask for casa nova to substitute the animal protein for whatever they can. They always accommodated me and I'm supper grateful or that. There is a difference between a restaurant that prepare your food and the restaurant that does it with love and care. I got the most delicious meal with a couple different options of sides instead of just one. I can't explain how that made my meal much more enjoyable. I want to thank the whole staff for their job and I hope they are appreciated as employees. One special thank for who was working that night. The person who took my order even drew a heart on the order's note. I'm beyond grateful for that. P.s I've always ordered food here and it is absolutely delicious. read more

Server doesn't speak Spanish or English, food is mediocre at best. Ordered a juice midway through my food and never arrived, only after the check arrived they brought the juice. If you're looking for a good Rodizio buffet in the Newark area, this is a great option. Rodizio, of course, is Portugese for "meat raining from the sky." and Casa Nova does it better than most. Unlike other all you can eat meat places I've been to, the meat at Casa Nova was never overcooked or dried out. Just delicious, juicy, meaty meat. While most of these places try to get you to fill up on bread and other buffet items, and Casa Nova is no exception, I recommend you have at least a few of their cheese bread nuggets. It's going to be tough to resist eating your fill of those, so try and just have one or two. I know, it's probably impossible (it was for me) but do as I say, not as I do. The buffet alone was worth the money, even without the delicious meat. Fried shrimp were good, but the pastas were amazing. I think it was a ziti in vodka sauce with chicken and mushrooms - yum. After all that food, our waiter tried to tempt us with some dessert, but we had to pass this time. I also have to recommend the capirinhas. Very good drinks. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is that the meat was sometimes over salty. This is a pretty typical problem at these places, but I wish they'd be a little more careful with the salt. read more

I am not used to spend my time writing comments about places I visit as a customer. However I felt compelled to do it this time. Sunday October 17th-2021, around 3:45 pm, me and two of my brothers enter this restaurant since my friend recommended it. A very attentive waitress welcomed us and took our orders. I noticed a guy who appeared to be the manager was staring at us many times, presumably I guess he doesn't like customer talk with the personnel since he looked upset the waitress was talking to us, sincerely I don't understand why he would approach the table looking thoroughly  at us without saying a word. It was an uncomfortable weird moment. We are customers, but it seemed like the manager was doing us a favor by letting us be and eat in there. Any ways, my 2 brothers and me order drinks: bottle of wine, beer, water. As for dinner we all order food: steak, fish and myself rodizio and we were going to keep ordering more drinks and food. Apparently, the manager does not know the meaning of sharing not allowed on rodizio. He came to my table and told me we cannot eat from each other plates or he will charge me. I asked to myself "Is this army boot camp or a family restaurant?" You can't share when the other person didn't order any food and then you are sharing rodizio which is not allowed, that I understand. But it was evident this guy was annoyed by our presence there I still don't get the real reason unless he is racist ( we are latinos) or a jealous person( I don't care about his private life) on female staff talking with customers. He really ruined my time with my family and felt mistreated. I asked for the check and he still charged for two stupid piece of meat I gave my brother. Unbelievable!!... Had dinner here with my brother. This is one of his favorite Brazilian Grills/Sports Bars. The staff are very friendly and attentive the food was good and the prices were reasonable. The buffet was stocked with many options and the meats that were served was ample. We ordered the buffet as a part of the meal. Make sure you are hungry when you go. Some of the best rodizio in Newark in a casual bar restaurant with fair prices. This is the restaurant I frequent the most. Been there 10+ times. Items from the rodizio can be ordered al lacarte. Favorites are skirt steak and drum sticks. Place has great buffet that can be ordered by the pound or included with a meal. There is a social scene in the bar area and they have very entertaining music after 8 or 9 pm almost every night that lasts the rest of the night. Local artists Portuguese and Spanish speakers mostly. No one is shy on karaoke nights and volunteers seem like regulars who want to put on a good show. -Recommend the red sangria, while strong it is extremely good. I went there to surprise my husband for dinner. Everything was very good until it was time to pay the bill. I had purchased a certificate on Restaurant.com and validated it in front of the waiter. There must have been a communication barrier because he went to the back and then came back and explained that we could not use it because, we were suppose to tell them that we had the certificate before ordering (my husband translated). I did not see any of this in the instructions once I purchased the certificate. Also, I never had to do that at any other restaurant. Usually we present the certificate upon payment for the deduction. The waiter then went and got the manager who also said the same thing. A traditional Rodizio is and should be an endless amount of Brazilian BBQ at the request of the customer. I mean, the restaurant even gives you a double sided card to tell the server "more" and less/stop...BUT for some strange reason every time I've experienced this restaurant, I've had to flag/wave down the sever because he keeps skipping our table and ask again and again for more BBQ....then after waiting for 5+ minutes...I get my BBQ. Then it stops again, and the process continues... So after, 1.5 hrs at the restaurant, only an appetizer amount of BBQ had entered my stomach. Not to mention, we know the Manager Very well...and the complaints only fall onto deaf ears! This $@%¥ won't fly in Brazil!!!!!! read more

Went here for the rodizio and was not disappointed. The meats kept coming non stop and I was stuffed to the gills. All of the food was top notch, juicy and tender. If you get the rodizio (which I highly recommend) be sure to start with an empty stomach if you want to enjoy it fully. read more

Came here mothers day without a reservation after going to another restaurant that just disappointed (porta jersey city) and they said a 30 min wait and ended up to be only 15 mins. Came here on a Sunday evening with 6 other people. They accommodated us nicely. The service is pretty great, friendly. There may be somewhat of a language barrier but just be patient, maybe learn how to say a few Portugese words like frango (chicken), bife (steak), or Coracao de galinha (chicken hearts) Or even Obrigado (thank you)....not gracias. We started off with some Sangria, 1 pitcher of white, 1 pitcher of blue; the blue was tangier more bluey than I've experienced before. With the full rodizio menu you also get access to the awesome salad bar, clean and full of salads, fishes, breads, fruits, etc. BUT don't fill up on that. MY favorite was a type of beef almost like a prime rib, that would be brought out in huge chunks, but only a few slices could be cut until it was very rare, they would bring it back in the kitchen, then come back with a new one...awesome. The pork loin is great, rich and juicy and the chicken hearts were pretty awesome, salty... Overall great experience, the food is salty, but still very flavorful, not just salty. Good place. Came and met up with a friend while I was waiting to pick someone up at the Newark airport. We didn't opt for the rodizio unfortunately because my friend couldn't eat meat that day. We ordered two appetizers and shared an entree. We got recommendations to get the barbecue strips (prior to knowing she can't eat meat) and the clams with white wine sauce. We got both (i wanted to try the BBQ strips). They were just alright. The BBQ strips is a bunch of meats and bacon wrapped chicken with yuca fries. I swear that's probably how they get rid of old meats. I was upset. The clams were small and did not taste fresh. For the entree, we shared the seafood paella. It came with half a steamed lobster which was good. But a pain to get out of it's shell. The rest of the paella was ok but it was a bit too salty for my taste. For dessert we got the flan and the papaya creme. The flan was good and really sweet. The papaya creme was different and had a funny taste to it. The best part of the meal was my drink. We ordered the mango caipirinha with Brazilian rum and it was amazing!!! Apparently late at night they clear the tables and it becomes a dance club. You begin to see a lot of girls come in with right short dresses. Some large group also had a birthday party there though I wish it wasn't so close to my table. I have been going to Casa Nova for many years. Their service has gone down hill. The waiters need to be trained better. You ask them a question and they don't know the answer. Food was ok. It took forever to get our drinks. We had to ask for bread while we waited because our apps took a while. (No, it wasn't busy at all) I posted a pic of my bill because I was 1 of a party of 3 and they added the tip to my bill before bringing it to me. Yes, I always tip. I usually tip between 18% to 20% depending on the service. I was very upset because they took the right from me to choose the tip. I understand if you give "suggested tip" at the bottom of my bill because I know some people don't know how to tip but don't add it to my bill. Plus on the final bill for me to sign was another "tip" line. So be aware next time you go. The tip is already included in your bill for party of 1 or 10. That is just bad business. Terrible Service! The fish was bad/ old and even had a loud smell! Placed an order on DoorDash and spoke with the driver because the food was 40 mins late but it was not her fault. Called the restaurant and they had me on hold for 10 minutes. I could hear her having conversations on the phone. When I finally got her attention she acted as if she couldn't understand me. I was missing 2 drinks, napkins and utensils. We ordered potatoes* with food and they just gave us soggy potato chips*. The food was even cold! Delicious food that tastes homemade. We came around 11 when they just put out the food for the buffet. Lots of healthy options from vegetables, to grains, to soul food. There are many leafy greens to choose from, cucumbers tomatoes, some fruits, chickpeas, potatoes, abobara ( pumpkin), lasagna, pasta, meatballs, rice... list goes on.
