I appreciate that the names of drinks are straightforward, so I can easily get an idea of what I am ordering. I ordered a toasted coconut matcha (50% sweet), while my group ordered a vanilla latte (50% sweet), a lavender vanilla matcha latte, and a banana pudding matcha latte. I would say we probably could have gotten 25% sweet as the drinks were very sweet. Even though the matcha flavor wasn't of the prominence and quality I preferred, I enjoyed the flavors of everyone's drinks. Service was acceptable with a minimal wait time. The interior decor is really pleasant reminded me of a library, and at the top was a picture of baby Alessie, whom the cafe is named after. It mixed well with the matcha, I preferred this over Honey Cold Cream Matcha...my friend thought that one was a little too sweet since there's also added syrup, but she would definitely come back to try their other matchas! I stumbled into Cafe Alessie by chance when Izola was closed--and I'm so glad I did. What started as a backup plan quickly turned into a new favorite. The BF Sando sandwich on an everything bagel was a standout--the bagel was clearly freshly baked, not store-bought, with the perfect texture and flavor. It even came with a side of freshly made potato chips that added the perfect crunch. From the first bite to the last, it left me wanting more and already planning my next visit. The cafe shop is very small but cute. The outdoor seating has such a charming touch--each table is adorned with a small flower vase that subtly elevates the entire experience of dining outside. It's those little details that make you want to slow down and enjoy every moment. The coffee was just as impressive. I love that they offer a "sweetness meter" to guide your drink selection, especially since I prefer less sweet options. The Banana Pudding Latte (I ordered mine without vanilla to cut the sweetness) and the Honey Cinnamon Latte were both delicious--rich, balanced, and thoughtfully crafted. There's also some seating inside that is perfect for working or hanging out with friends! Parking is metered street parking around the block. My friend and I got the Lucky Double Matcha and Lucky Charms Latte, which were specials for their spring season. We first tried the matcha latte, which definitely had more of an astringent matcha taste. The foam was on the more airy/foamy side rather than creamy. However, the cream top on the latte was very thick and creamy! It was not as green as expected since we did see a TikTok of their green cream colored w spinach, but the light hint of green was still a fun touch. The amazing barista, unfortunately I'm blanking on her name, was so sweet too as she made the cream fresh for me. I also feel like she gave me a hefty scoop of cream.. So, thank you so much to her. This is another one of the IG/tiktok popular spots for matcha. Believe the hype. Their matchas are so good. Probably my new fave spot for matcha. People usually get the banana pudding matcha but I got the grinch drink from their winter menu which is a double matcha. It did not disappoint. If you like a stronger matcha flavor but still has the right amount of sweetness, it's perfect. The matcha is very well blended in their matcha cream. It is pricey at $9.42 with tax but matcha drinks are usually pricey. You have to wait a bit for your drinks because it's usually pretty busy. I went near closing time and there were still a bunch of people. It's a small shop with limited seating inside and more seating outside. Parking is horrible here because it's in downtown. So just be careful of the event parking rules downtown. I'll definitely be back to try their other items. read more

Super helpful for people like me who don't always want something overly sugary. For example, the banana pudding matcha is a 6 (sweetest), while the honey cold cream is a 1 (least sweet). I ordered the lavender vanilla matcha with oat milk (5 tics on the sweetness scale). Even though it was pretty busy when I came in, my drink came out fast. It was fluffy, smooth, and had a great balance of lavender and vanilla without being cloying. For food, I tried the breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cheddar, jalapeño aioli). The bagel was soft, and the chips on the side were a nice touch, but overall I don't think I'd order it again -- it was fine, just not standout. The staff were friendly and quick, and by around 11:30 the rush had died down, so I could sit and enjoy my food inside. There are about three small tables inside and five small tables outside, mostly for one or two people. Overall, a really cute spot for a matcha fix or a cozy catch-up with a friend. The banana pudding matcha has always been my go to and for my partner he recently tried the lavender matcha and it's now his go to. The employees are always super nice when we go and they're always really quick making our drinks.
