My husband and I came to Provecho because it kept showing up on lists of the best coffee shops in San Diego, so we had to check it out. It's tucked into a cute neighborhood near Logan Heights. We came around 9 a.m., and street parking was easy to find. There was already a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty quickly. The baristas were friendly and welcoming, and I thought the prices were really reasonable for San Diego. I ordered the black sesame matcha, and my husband got the Piloncillo. The matcha was creamy, rich, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. One thing to know if you're ordering matcha or a latte--they only offer oat milk, not almond milk. My husband loved his coffee and said the espresso was smooth, flavorful, and let the coffee shine without being overcomplicated. The shop itself is really cool too. There's an art installation inside, an outdoor patio with additional seating, and I noticed quite a few people picking up bags of espresso beans while we were there. I've tried their pour-over coffee and the Orange Dream. They were both rich in flavour. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seatings with open spaces. Came with some out of town friends to show them this spot. Very busy even on a Saturday afternoon still. Got the creamy cold brew this time which was on their seasonal menu. It's cold brew with condensed milk cold foam. Unfortunately this one was a bit of a miss for me. The cold brew while smooth was less coffee forward than I prefer. The condensed milk cold foam was pretty watery and not condensed milk enough. It just tasted like a sweetened cream. I'll still with the other foam tops! Also a little bit of a pet peeve when they don't fill a drink all the way up, especially when I didn't adjust ice level. read more

What a vibe. Everyone had the same idea for Saturday coffee in Barrio Logan. The line was long the entire time we were there. The aesthetic is clean and on brand. The coffee is good, once size to keep things simple. My only complaint is that the sesame cold foam was the end of the bottle; so it was more watery than dense. I always have an awesome time down at Provecho! Coffee Co. in Barrio Logan. It's situated inside of Bread & Salt, an incredible and down-to-earth art gallery that hosts a great range of installations and exhibits year round. The atmosphere is welcoming, open, and feels friendly toward people from all walks of life, families, and even dogs! I've had a handful of drinks here, including the Americano, cortado, and oat milk latte. Everything is really smooth, balanced, and tasty. I really enjoy working here with my laptop sometimes. Since the WiFi is so strong and the vibes are so nice. Definitely recommend trying Provecho! out--I'd even say it's worth the drive from further spots like Chula Vista or Clairemont. read more

I actually really love this spot. It's right next to a cool museum / art history place where you can walk around while waiting for your coffee. It's super artsy, the staff are very nice. Provecho has been around for several years as a coffee catering service and the company launched a cold brew coffee service during the pandemic. Soon after, they settled into their permanent space in a former bread factory in Bread in Salt in the Barrio Logan neighborhood. They mostly offer single organ coffee, pour overs and specialty beverages and they like to feature coffees from Mexico. On a tasting trip we tried the Costa Rican and Columbian options which are two of my favorite coffee regions in addition to beans from the Chipas region of Mexico. We met with the owners and purchased beans and hats. They have a fun merch program. The space is open, relaxed and offers an array of art both inside and on the outside patio. At the time of this review, there is a " What You Carry" display outside in which you can place something from your pocket or handbag to add to the art exhibit. Stopped by Provecho to sample their coffee and was pleasantly surprised. Located in a large industrial looking building, the shop itself is spacious with plenty of seating and easy parking on the street. I ordered a flat white that was ready a few minutes later and came out absolutely delicious. The barista looked familiar and turned out he used to work at blue bottle before starting work at Provecho. Small world. Definitely will be my go to for coffee when I'm in the downtown San Diego / Chicano park area. read more

This coffee shop was definitely off the beaten path. Had a unique vibe within it. That was artsy and welcoming. I really liked the vibe inside and you can tell there was a lot of regulars posted doing work or visiting. I have never been to a coffee shop that offered the flavors that this place did. The barista at the counter was very helpful answering all my questions. I was very pleased with her suggestions for our coffee. If you have a hard time string from traditional coffee, shops that are more mainstream like Starbucks this may not be a good fit for you. However, if you're open for adventure, I highly recommend that you come here and enjoy something new and exciting. It also seems as if there is lots of different art pieces you can walk around and see. Provecho is one of those spots that just gets it. Big warehouse energy with huge tables. It's right next to Bread & Salt, so there's always something happening- events, art shows, people vibing. My forever orders: the iced sesame latte and the orange dream (don't question it- just trust). Both are dreamy, balanced, and creamy. I've hung out for a few hours without feeling rushed or weird about it. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, good energy, solid flow. Parking can be a little difficult on weekends. Cool little coffee shop with unique drinks. The space is pretty big but, if you didn't plan to go there, you would probably miss it. I was stuck between the Orange Dream Latte and the Black Sesame Latte. The barista suggested Orange Dream if I wanted an iced latte or Black Sesame if I wanted a hot latte. I went with the iced Orange Dream. It was delicious. It has a nice balance of coffee and a subtle orange flavor with a slight sweetness. We came a little before 10am on a Sunday morning and there were only about 3 people in front of us but by the time we left around 10:30am, the line was very long. I had the sesame latte with oat milk and it was very tasty, definitely recommend and the taro concha was delicious. It is a very spacious coffee shop with seating available both inside and outside. This is seriously a not so hidden, hidden gem! Cako and I just finished our walk and I searched for coffee, and Provecho came up! I honestly did not know where I was going, but I saw people, and luckily there was a parking space in front. Had I known they were dog friendly, I would've brought Cako in. Lots of neighborhood people which is always a good sign. I saw on their website that they had coffee beans from Chiapas and I grabbed a bag. There was a line and it did take a while but no fault of the workers. You'd think after waiting in line, you'd know what you want. Finally got to the front, met the owner Gerardo, and was able to get my beans ground. He told me they'd been open for two years. Man I must be living under a rock! There are plenty of seats and small tables and two large communal tables inside. They also have a great outdoor seating area. Definitely worth checking out! I got an iced provecho!mocha (yes, that's the name!) and asked for it half sweet. It came out sweeter than I prefer, but the chocolate was super evident, which I appreciated. I came here with a girlfriend on a Tuesday afternoon around 12pm. It wasn't crowded at all - this place seems to be a spot people will hang out and work from. I got their black sesame latte which I loved! It wasn't too sweet but was just right. They offer pastries here, but I didn't get any last time. Pricing wise it's on par with most of the other trendy coffee shops out there. They have a lot of seating inside and out. We ended up sitting outside for a couple hours catching up and enjoying the weather. I wouldn't have expected this coffee shop to be on a more residential block of Barrio Logan, but it works! And there's plenty of free street parking around the area. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit here to try their other drinks! read more

Provecho is such a cute spot, and I absolutely love their coffee! Last time I came, I think they were using chocolate espresso beans - or if memory serves correctly they switch it up often - either way, it was amazing and I love that concept. I'd definitely ask next time because I loved it so much! I'm hooked on the Iced Orange Dream and Sesame Latte. The cold foam on the sesame latte is heaven, and I always go with oat milk. I rate both drinks a 10/10. The service is always great - they really know how to pair flavors and pay attention to the details in each drink. Not gonna lie, I've sometimes ordered two coffees back-to-back for three reasons: my caffeine addiction, the incredible menu, and... well, the cup sizes are a bit small for the price. That's my only downfall! Parking is about 50/50, but the space is lovely, and I adore everything about their menu. I definitely need to come back on a weekend to try the weekend menu! Great coffee, wonderful pan dulce and artsy space. Often times, when the place or ambiance is great, the drinks/food are subpar but this is certainly not the case at Provecho Coffee. It has a warehouse-y vibe, very chill and spacious with plenty of tables both inside and outside. There's even a magazine stand in the corner if you like to buy some zines. Even if you sit inside, take the time to check out the mural outside! (there was also a food truck/food vendor that was setting up as we were leaving) I got the sesame latte and it was heaven. I got here 10 minutes before they opened. There were about 10 of us waiting for them to open. From the other reviews I read they get busy! The line went by quickly and my drink came shortly after that. Everyone working here was inviting and friendly. I ordered a Sesame Latte with Oat Milk and an Orange Matcha Latte as well as a pastry. Had to try it all. Everything looked amazing. Everything I ordered was 10/10. Very well crafted drinks. I enjoyed everything. I will be grabbing an additional cup on my way back home to Long Beach. I ordered the PILONCILLO LATTE, and of course it's equally amazing. The ambiance complements the coffee well. There's a nice museum and community center surrounding this establishment. We noticed there was a vendor advertising her tamale business and of course we approached her to purchase a plate, turned out they were free once you sign up to their community e-mail. The tamales were absolutely delicious, and catered by an independent business @isas_tamales. It was such a lovely day, great coffee, & a surprise treat. I highly reccomended this place. If you're up for a walk they also have amazing murals at a park near by. Provecho is a shinning diamond amongst the trove of hidden gems, and a nice addition for anyone who is planning a day trip down to Tijuana or San Diego. read more
