WuzupWuzup! I was in the mood for an Mazapán Latte, so I figured I'd try this one out as I never tried this location and heard positive things about this place. Artwork is very beautiful and fits the Barrio Logan scene perfectly. I arrived with nobody inside the business minus the workers, you had maybe 2 people outside enjoying the scenery and their drinks. Not greeted upon entering the business just gave me that stare with not asking if I had any questions. I dont recall his name but he was very skinny, curly hair or wavy and i believe he had braces, but not sure if he was having a bad day but something wasn't all there. I ordered 2 drinks, I forget the other but it had cinnamon on top. The drinks were just hand on the counter without saying which drinks is which, so i asked which one is which. Didn't hear me, so i kinda said again and he pointed them out not in a nice or rude way but the approach of how it was handled was not friendly. How can you have Mazapán without the Mazapán crumbles which are very iconic to the drink. I just found it super strange and did not care for it. The cinnamon based drink was good tho, which I'll give them that. Experience could have been better. read more

Where to even start! Such a dope little place. Coffee shop...art shop...DJ just rippin sometimes. Just never know whatcha gonna get. But, I bet it'll surprise ya. Staff was as dope as the setting. Por Vida Coffee is such a gem in Barrio Logan. The space has so much character filled with local art, vibrant culture, and even a fun photo booth that makes it feel more like a creative hangout than just a coffee shop. I tried their horchata latte and it was incredible. Perfectly creamy with just the right balance of coffee and that sweet, cinnamon horchata flavor. Not overly sugary, just smooth and satisfying. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and recommend to anyone exploring the area. read more

Small and local spot in Barrio Logan. Love to support a small business. The inside has great art pieces showcasing the chicana community. Tried the horchata latte (only available in 16oz). The flavor was more on the bland side. It doesn't have a strong coffee or rice flavor. I was disappointed in the flavor but would possibly try other items in the menu. It can take a while to get your drink, but don't mind. Great customer service. Parking can be tricky due to area but cars move in and out at a good pace so don't have an issue unless you're there during an event. read more

Por Vida is a nice, minimalistic little coffee spot in the heart of Barrio Logan on Logan Avenue. It's gone through several decorative changes in the past couple years, and is now a very simple shop with one row of small bench/chair seating with low round tabletops, plus a few shaded tables outside. The coffee quality has remained constant and good eve since I first came here several years ago. I like the Calle de Olla Latte, Por Vida, and cold brew the most out of the menu. Owner is a cool guy who's not super talkative always, which I think people mistake for coldness. It's not that! Also, there are rotating art exhibits shown here on the walls and they're always really unique and interesting. Overall it's a nice spot to grab a drink at while out and about in Barrio Logan. read more

It was around 10:35 am when I came in and there was already a handful of people there. The worker greeted me as I took a look at the menu. And there was one worker during the time I was there. He took orders and made the drinks, I think he did it in a timely manner considering it as just him. I didn't know how to pronounce the one that I wanted (Cafe de Olla) so I went with the Hot Por Vida Latte (Brown Sugar & Cinnamon), Half Sweet, with Whole Milk. This tasted great hot as it was super warming and not overly sweet. It was a great balance! It was $6, I believe. They take card and exact change -- if you pay with cash. He was able to do latte art, it was very pretty - although I didn't take a photo (mental image). Interior was clean and half the coffee shop was filled with food donations which was amazing to see! They have both interior and outdoor seating. You may have to wait a bit since there's only one worker, but the quality is great. I recommend asking for less sweet. read more

I visited Por Vida Coffee in San Diego today and had a great experience. The shop has a unique and beautiful atmosphere, with lots of artwork that made the space feel creative and special. Very hip and cool coffee shop that offers a variety of Mexican inspired coffees, teas, and fruit drinks. The inside has very nice murals of Frida Khalo, Virgin Mary, and other Mexican inspired art. Very cool and very fitting for the location. There seems to be no street sign, but you can't miss it, since it's open concept vibe. We ordered the horchata coffee, not too sweet and just perfect with the flavors of horchata. Also ordered the Calle de Olla coffee and this one was our favorite, it had notes of orange, coffee and just so good. There was only one person ringing you up and making the drinks so depending on the day and time you might end up waiting a bit for your drinks. If you're walking around Barrio Logan, order yourself a Jamaica lemonade at Por Vida before getting tacos at Xicanitos. It was the best way I could've spent my Sunday afternoon I've also tried their Mazapan latte. In my opinion, it tasted more like a standard latte with mazapan pieces at the bottom. Still delicious, but other renditions of mazapan lattes I've tried offered more mazapan flavoring. If you don't mind the pieces at the bottom, I still recommend trying if you enjoy mazapan! read more

OKKKKK been to this place before an I had forgotten until I stepped in yesterday during Chicano park day. BF ordered Por Vida Latte and I ordered the spicy Jamaica lemonade. The rim on my Jamaica had chamoy and Tajín and the drink itself was a 10/10. For sure coming back here to check out the photobooth !!!' We were excited to try this place seeing it on social media. Upon walking in the vibe was empty, maybe they were changing their art this day. I asked the barista for a "red eye" which is pretty well known as a cup of coffee with a shot of espresso. I'm happy to explain if the barista was confused but instead of asking she just gave me a weird look and said "so you want a latte?" (Assuming it was the owner) chimed in from the side that they don't make drip coffee... and like laughed at me "what did you call it a red eye??" I left feeling dumb and disappointed. I would have preferred to go somewhere that seems to even want my business. read more

Terrible service. When I said, I wanted a small the owner looked at me and said it's only this big ...holding up his fingers. I proceeded to order a larger size and instead of hot like I said, he made it iced.. My husband ordered an iced Horchata latte that they said they could no longer make cold so they had to do it Hot. Extremely rude service. Drinks made wrong. I even tipped. The drinks are not good enough to be treated like this. I will not return. read more

Mazapan latte - drink itself isn't overly sweet, but the crushed Mazapan bits add a concentrated sweetness and a subtle nutty finish. I'd recommend asking for 50% sweetness to balance things out, the Mazapan alone brings plenty of flavor. Free street parking, is a bit limited and does get filled up pretty quick. Shop has plenty of tables and seating - perfect for work or chilling. Staff friendly and drink came out really quick! read more

The drink was very mid, no flavor at all. It's ran by a bunch of young kids that are asking you whether you want all ingredients or 1-2 shots of espresso. They all seem to be very confused and not fully understanding of how to make the mazapán drink. I said 1 in the end but had zero flavor. Seems very overhyped and elevated by social media. Stopped by after a field trip for an afternoon pick me up. We got a spicy lemonade, strawberry lemonade and the brown sugar iced coffee. All were very yummy. The barista was very friendly and apologized when she realized she didn't have an ingredient for one of the drinks. She offered to substitute it for another right away. read more

This is such a cute coffee shop located in Barrio Logan a Latin/ Chicano area I loved it . The coffee shops is decorated with Frida paintings and low riders tables . I loved all the art inside . The coffee cup had a cute label to it too. The attention to detail is key . This place definitely represents the Chicano culture All the staff were super nice and attentive . The coffee was so delicious and they had a lot of great flavors like Mazapán and so many others . I really enjoyed this location I would definitely be coming back when in the area . I was so hesitant to leave this review. I came into the coffee shop and they had no customers. The person working behind the register was on the phone. I waited several minutes before they took my order, where they never hung up the phone and took my order while still taking to the person on the other end of the phone. They then continue their phone call and did not start making my drink for several minutes until another set of ladies walked into the store and they told the person on the phone they would call them back. They then quickly started my drink and began taking their order. After finishing up with them, they finished up my drink and handed it off to me with no acknowledgement of the fact that I had waited almost 15 minutes for 1 latte in an empty coffee shop. I started this review saying I was hesitant to leave this review because I'm a big believer that maybe I caught this shop at a bad moment or a bad, and maybe this is not a reflection of the overall experience of this shop. But at the same time it would dishonest of me to not share my experience at this shop. My drink did taste good, and I hope moving forward that this isn't the experience in the future! read more

I came from out of town here but I found this place on TikTok and saved the video I so I had to stop by here to try the coffee. Coffee was pretty good. The vibe and setup was what really drew me in. I ordered the iced Por Vida Latte and a hot Dulce De Leche Latte. It was $15 for both, so not too terrible. First off, the hot latte looked so nice! I took a sip before adding my lid and it was sooo creamy. It was hot but not too hot so I could enjoy right away. It's really sweet and super tasty! The por vida latte is also sweet, but not too sweet, with tons of cinnamon you can actually taste. This was my first time here and the ambiance is nice. The art is beautiful, the garage doors add natural night and fresh air. The music was fitting and the barista was soooo sweet! I'll definitely be returning! read more

I've been coming here since the beginnings. It's been through a few renovations and even when they opened a side store just north of it. Then they shut that one down too. I would always admire the ambiance and the art. They stayed true to the lowrider culture. It was iconic. I did my usual San Diego trip and per usual I always hit up por vida for coffee and the lowrider culture murals. They were all gone. All you get is white walls with picture frames. All the lowrider Chicano culture stripped from the walls. There was a different feeling. It felt like I was in just another gentrified coffee shop on sunset blvd in LA. I left disappointed and saddened. The only street art left is the public phone they have in the store with true art left by many in form of stickers on it. Which you see people taking picture of it and posting it here now. read more

Luckily my boyfriend goes near by for work and he always will bring me back a latte It makes me so happy to see them at farmers markets around the city. The matcha was creamy, rich, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. One thing to know if you're ordering matcha or a latte--they only offer oat milk, not almond milk. My husband loved his coffee and said the espresso was smooth, flavorful, and let the coffee shine without being overcomplicated. The shop itself is really cool too. There's an art installation inside, an outdoor patio with additional seating, and I noticed quite a few people picking up bags of espresso beans while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.

A sign behind the bar described the ceremonial grade matcha that was used with the region of origin and the flavors imparted to the powder. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

The prices are pretty good (coffee and milk teas) and they also have smoothies (which can be on the more expensive side $9-12). Water cup is free upon request. They also have only a handful of seatings, but it's a nice area to walk around. They have umbrellas as well, but they do need a heavier stand for windy days as I've witnessed it fall into a car several times. Other than that, I recommend checking out It's Cafe Thai in Barrio Logan!
