Too many memories here! My 22nd birthday, my college graduation lunch, dinner before i got engaged, and the list goes on and on. Love that this place is real Mexican food, not tex-mex. I went on line and noticed that things seemed pricy for Chico. I saw. a burrito the dose amigos that was half chili Colorado and half chili Verde. I thought what a great idea, 2 tastes in one plate in one burrito. I went on father's day with a group of four. We were greeted and seated right away. The service was quick and personable. Short turn around time.one person ordered a margarita which was large and pretty. The food came. And now I understand. The food is not served on a plate. It is served on platters. My dose amigos burrito was so large that it was cut into two. I thought that they had made a mistake and had served me 2 huge burritos topped with vegies and avacodo chunks. The plater was filled side to side. I was told it was one burrito. I think they are nuts. There was a tud ( my word for a ton) of food before me. Now I'm a big guy pushing 3.. Lbs.(I'm fat). I could only eat 1/4 of the meal. ITS A PLATTER!! I especially liked the chilie Verde because it had a good spice. We have been here 45 minutes so far and still no food. Waitress has only come around once to check on us. Out of chips for half an hour. So hungry. sighhhhhhhh. Good family-run Mexican restaurant if you want a sit-down meal with a waiter/waitress. I would not call it "authentic" Mexican food, but that seems very hard to find in Chico. I have been twice and was favorably impressed both times. The enchiladas I got on my first visit were OK, but the Mahi-Mahi tacos I got last time were much more memorable. Very tasty! The rice and beans, which are one of my favorite parts of a Mexican meal, are acceptable, but not great. They give you an option of whole beans, which I may try next time. The service was pleasant and attentive. They refilled our chips & salsa and drinks quickly and easily. The chips were warm and tasted fresh. The salsa seemed house-made and was chunky and only a bit spicy. They even made me my new favorite non-alcoholic beverage - an Arnold Palmer. I didn't expect them to know what that was, but they did and even refilled it a couple of times. The food came out in a normal amount of time, I thought, so I don't agree with the other reviews about slow service. Maybe it was an anomaly. I *do* agree with other reviews in that their pricing seems on the high side. It is a nice atmosphere and a good place to take people, though. I will go back again, I'm sure. read more

This place wasn't too bad, the server wasn't so attentive so the person who I suppose is the manager attended us most of the time, I ordered the grande burrito which did not come with a lot of meat and mostly bean and rice filling, for $18 bucks I'd expect better food and more meat, if you're going to spend that kind of money on Mexican food, go to tres hombres, it's way better, they serve better tasting food with more and better meat, and it's probably cheaper also. read more

I have always enjoined Casa Ramos, but today when I went I had such a bad experience that I will not go back. The host was showing us the special (at the door) and could even look our way. She never once smiled or asked how we were, nor did she even say welcome. After seating us, the salsa was oddly dry. While placing the order she seemed as if we were a bother. The food took a LONG time, and I was missing beans, and rice on my plate. When I flagged down the waitress, she said they do offer rice and beans with that plate. It should be noted that I eat the same thing each time I go there and YES it does. Lol they never checked on us during the meal, and I was forced to just walk up to the cash register to ask for the bill. The food was "ok" but for the $40 (for two) I would rather go to tres hombres downtown. Around the same price yet nicer environment and service. I will be calling the owner this week to complain as I would want to know if I was the owner. read more

Order three tacos to go only to find that they looked and tasted as if it was microwaved. The tacos were either microwaved or had been sitting in the kitchen for a while since they were very soggy. The tortilla was falling apart five min after they were made. And to make things worker they didn't have good taste. Hope they make this better. read more

The staff is really rude now. I have always loved Casa Ramos food. My Family has done dine in and pickup over the years. A time or two something would be missing and I would let them know and go back and pick up what ever it was. No big deal We all make mistakes . I called to place an order at 3pm to be ready at 4:30 for pick up. Sent my son to pick it up . He called me saying they had no order. While in the middle of placing an order again someone came out and said it's almost done cooking. Okay great. NOT! Went home And we are missing 1 diner. I called Casa Ramos asking them to let me know what my order was( because I needed to know if I needed to pay for it or was it already paid for) . I don't know if the girl on the phone took offense to this because she wanted me to tell her what my order was. I had 2 fish taco plates,flauta dinner ,2 carne asada and mas plates. (This was almost a 100 order).We were missing a fish taco plate. She told me that the kitchen said that they gave it to us. I told her no we didn't get it . She had no desire to resolve this and I wasn't gonna argue with her because who knows what would be done with the food. It's sad Casa Ramos use to have very nice workers. My fiancé and I call this our "go to place". We've been customers for years! I always get the super nachos with chicken and he consistently orders the three enchilada plate(cheese, chicken and beef) with rice and beans. The food has ALWAYS been good. Huge portions and always satisfies. HOWEVER, we visited last week and noticed a new waitress. She was slow to get to us but when she did, we ordered our usuals. The restaurant maybe had four to five people in it. Not busy at all. We waited at least 25 minutes for our food. It's never taken that long on any of our other visits. Of course, the food was wonderful as always. The waitress never checked back with us until I waved her over to refill my soda which had been empty for awhile. She had been standing and chatting with a co worker when I waved her over. We were really disappointed with our waitress but NEVER disappointed in the food! read more

This place is still ok. However, I think it was better when it first opened. It seems that many of the dishes are a bit on the bland side now. I also think they have raised their prices as well. A friend of mine ordered a burrito along with a soda and it costs him almost 20 bucks. The general consensus from people I know, is that it is a bit expensive for what you actually get. I have ordered food from here many times but have found it to be less and less consistant as of late. They do make the best green salsa by far...but not tonight? Nice presentation, but everything tasted extremely bland and the green salsa looked and tasted like watered down guacamole. We used to come here a lot, but it seems as though the quality has decreased while the prices have increased! It has become quite expensive for a casual meal. They do have some good items still on the menu, but I'm afraid it isn't as good as it use to be. So i wad having trouble with my truck so my girlfriend, my service dog, and myself decided to just get some lunch at casa ramos; she had never been and i remember the food was decent. I never even got to order because i quickly told i was not alowd to dine because my service animal does not have one of "service dog" vests or a certificate. I informed the host that the ADA does not issue "vests"; they can simply be purchased by an consumer at any pet store, or give you a certificate of any sort and that the ones she is refuring can be purchased online for a small fee so that people who are uninformed would not bother them rather then go through the embarrassment i suffered. My disability and my medical information is private. I dont use a vest because i dont like the stares and gossip going on around me when im just trying to live my life as normal as possible. The whole restaurant heard our conversation and was staring at me which made me extremely uncomfortable. I was still going to order to go but my girlfriend said no to which i agreed and we left. I returned a few moments later, less then 2 minutes just to kindly inform the host that it was actually illegal to refuse me service and ask me any type of question reguarding my disability or reasoning for having a service animal to which her manager shook his head in agreement implying he was aware of this yet still alowed myself and my girlfriend to suffer the embarrassment of the situation before hand. Needless to say i wont ever be back to another casa ramos. And should sue them but i just dont feel right about that.. read more

went here for a lunch meeting yesterday with the boss. We'd both heard great things about its amazing margaritas. So, we had to try it out. Its Mexican, so go big or go home. So... we went big and then went home to take a nap. We both had had one of the lunch combos with a taco and a burrito with rice and beans. That was more than enough food for me. The food was excellent. The chicken and the beef were both well seasoned and the beans and rice were so good! The service was wonderful. Never had to ask for anything. They were on top of it. Ordered a burrito and got a big taco. The tortilla was cold rice was cold and bland and so was everything else on it. They somehow insist that it was a burrito. Even the avocado I asked as a side was black in some parts from it sitting out. If you want authentic Mexican food look elsewhere. read more
