They have the best machaca in the world, their salsas, party trays, chicken enchiladas, beef tacos, shrimp diablo plate, ceviche tostada, chicken quesadillas, carne asada plate, rolled tacos, el jefe rolled tacos, birria tacos, everything there is so good. The lady and I are definitely taco shop connoisseurs, so we can be very discerning from place to place. Most know that one taco shop normally does not excel in every single thing on their menu. And we have our favorite spots for certain menu items no doubt about that. Over the years staying at the nearby Harrah's resort, I have been sent to this taco shop several times. Never had anything but great burritos, plates, and friendly service from here! The chorizo plate is my personal favorite but honestly I really haven't found anything we didn't like. I feel like we have tried a good cross-section of the menu, breakfast, rolled tacos, asada and more. It has all been very well prepared, good portions and great bang for the buck. I have them at 4.5 stars overall for the 6-10 times visited, which I'll round up to 5. No other taco shops around nearby to compare them to, but they have been very good to us. Holy....... This review is for one burrito and one burrito alone.... Surf and Turf- packed with plumb shrimp and steak.... The shrimp cooked perfectly with that snap and the steak that has that beefy flavor. It also come with onions and bell peppers, lettuce cheese and sour cream. It's probably the best burrito I have had in a years. No fluff, no fillers, just pure goodness. The family stopped for lunch here while on the way to a local hike. The lady at the cash register was very polite and helpful as it was our 1st time here. The service was prompt. The quality of the food was excellent! I had the Cali Burrito, the kids had a steak quesadilla that was excellent and could have fed a small army for $12. In the heart of nowhere, this gem sits. Was visiting a friend, who admittedly always has the best food recommendations, and has yet to disappoint. From here house we had two taco stands to choose from, in opposite directions. I let her choose. She chose right. We got 12 beef rolled tacos, a chicken quesadilla, beans and rice and one of each of the big drinks. Everything was amazing. I think the quesadilla was the best, but not one thing was sub-par. The staff was wonderful, the prices reasonable. Salsa bar for what you want. Seating inside and out BUT! Flies are a plenty outside. We moved inside before we even got our food due to the swarms(nothing they can do about it, and aren't at fault, but worth noting). I will for sure be stopping by again! read more

This place is really good... After a night at Harrahs it was time for some comfort food. To YELP I went. I saw the reviews here were consistently good and had to try it. Parking was easy and abundant outside the location. Once inside I was immediately greeted. There are menus posted on the walls with pics which are easy to read. The prices all appeared fair. I placed an order at the counter for the chilaquiles and the chile relleno. Both arrived hot and were presented well on the plate. Ok maybe a little to much shredded cheese but hey just don't eat it all. Both plates were delightful and hearty. I truly enjoyed the flavors of the main dishes. The rice was fluffy as expected. Unfortunately the beans seemed to be the refried canned type. They were adequate but not outstanding. Coffee refills were self serve and definitely satisfying. Was in the area and decided to stop for tacos. Although a bit pricey ($2.99 each) for street tacos, they were not stingy with the filling! Ordered 10 chicken and 10 carne asada, large rice/beans and all the toppings on the side (onion, cilantro, guac), also ordered cheese quesadillas. Everything was super tasty and like I said, lots of meat on the tacos! The only disappointment was they gave me lemons instead of limes, and I actually asked twice if they packed me limes. We stopped in on Saturday after a nice nearby hike and completely stuffed our faces with delicious burritos. Dad got a breakfast burrito of some sort and didn't expect it to be so large (he's from Maryland), my husband got a Cali burrito, and I got a Shrimp burrito. Everything was so good! I was expecting the shrimp burrito to be more of rice, beans, whitish-pink sauce, but it was actually more diablo style with red sauce and fajita veggies. Very messy and very tasty. Why do places say "open til 11" and then you get there at 9:45 and they say "we're closed"? Here's the thing, we were driving by and the open Sign was on, it said "open". If it didn't, we would have kept driving. So we pull into the parking lot, park our car, and As soon as we approached the door, the girl turns off the sign and says "we're closed" lol. I had their food a month ago and it made my stomach upset. Win or lose a burrito makes you feel like a champ. Jilberto's used to be located in the middle of Valley Center and Pala. Literally down the street from Pauma. Service was good and so was the food but the people that hung around looked sketchy to me... I always felt like I was on an episode of 60 Days in or Sons of Anarchy lol. My and my friends would order and eat quickly to get back home. Safely and in one piece. Sometimes you feel like you need to eat something that isn't comped.
