We had such a great experience at Rita's Cantina! It ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. I ordered the birria tacos, and wow... they were incredible. The meat was tender, flavorful, and every bite was delicious. My mom and brother both got the shrimp tacos, and they loved them too. The shrimp was fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Before our food even came out, we couldn't stop eating the chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crispy, and the salsa tasted fresh with just the right amount of spice. It's one of those places where you have to remind yourself to save room for the main course because the chips and salsa are that good. The biggest reason this visit stood out, though, was our waitress, Gina. She was hands down the best waitress we had during our entire trip. She was so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy taking care of her guests. She checked on us often without ever being overbearing, made sure our drinks never went empty, and always had a smile on her face. It's rare to come across someone who provides service that makes you feel like you're a valued guest instead of just another table. If you visit Rita's Cantina, I hope you get Gina as your waitress because she truly made our experience memorable. Service was super friendly and fast. We didn't realize we could order just regular food until 1 pm until we sat down on Sunday - only a brunch menu. We opted for a breakfast burrito and eggs/bacon/pancakes - both also had a spicy hash brown included - not my favorite. Each table gets a basket of chips and salsa to start - those were delicious. If I ever return, I need to ask which menu is which during that time as it was confusing as a different one was posted outside. Margaritas on point--my fav is the Blood Orange Margarita, my bf's is the Watermelon Margarita, and my mom's is the Peach Margarita. Carne Asada Fries were thick with an airy crisp. Meat kind of lacking, but overall flavors were there. Combo Fajitas were my favorite. We got the large to share $37, came with 6 tortillas, sides of rice and beans, guacamole, and the fajitas itself. Gotta love the bell peppers. Flavors overall were there. Didn't like the birria ramen. The ramen noodle texture was thin and fragile, like instant ramen. Meat was tender but there was barely any. Overall lacking on toppings. Soup was salty, needed more lime to cut it. Saturday, 11-01-2025: My husband came to pick up his free gift from the casino gifting center. While we were here we decided to return to 'Rita's Cantina after a long while. We were happy there was no wait to be seated. Our server was very friendly but could have been more attentive. He brought out complimentary tortilla chips & salsa, which was very good. The o food orders came out quickly. My husband ordered the cheese enchiladas and I had the chicken quesadilla. Both meals were delicious and satisfying. This restaurant is decorated very nicely and it's clean. It's adjacent to the pool area with its tropical theme. Holy smokes! The food was fantastic here. Did a staycation and decided to grab a bite while we were here. The service started strong with our waitress, Gina coming to the table with waters in hand. Pro tip for sure, having water from the start always sets to tone for me. We ordered a couple margaritas and looked over the menu. Once the drinks arrived we were set on the meal. Combo plate and carne asada fries. Ok, the fries are under appetizers and they are a full blown meal plus some. The fries were perfectly crunchy and the carne asada so delicate. The tamales and enchilada were fresh as heck and gave a classic abuela made vibe. The food was such a large portion we couldn't eat it all so we packed it to go. Gina again was amazing. Complimentary first round of chips and salsa, $4.99 additional. Chips made in house, thin and crispy. We ordered: -Pork belly chicharron: deep fried crispy pork belly in this elote salsa purée with tortillas and fruit on the side. Tastes exactly like the description. Tortillas made in house. -Guacamole: Had corn and pepita seeds that look like Sun flower seeds. Adds a nice little crunch. -Fish tacos: crispy beer battered fish cod were huge! My family and I were staying at Harrah's Hotel for spring break, trying to create special memories with our kids, and we decided to eat at Rita Cantina. What happened after that is something I honestly won't forget. After finishing our meal, my husband paid, signed the receipt, and left a tip. Everything felt normal--until we got back to our room and security knocked on our door, along with another staff member, telling us we hadn't paid. My heart dropped. I felt confused, embarrassed, and honestly hurt--especially with my children right there witnessing it all. No one wants to be made to feel like they've done something wrong when they know they haven't. They asked my husband to go downstairs to fix it, and what made it even worse was the way he was treated walking back into the restaurant. People were making comments, and a server even said, "Oh, the man that didn't pay wants to talk to the manager." That moment was humiliating. No one deserves to be spoken about like that--especially over a mistake that wasn't even theirs. What hurts the most is that they had all of our information. We were guests at the hotel. They could have called us. Instead, they sent security to our room, making it feel like we had done something dishonest. When everything was finally looked into, it turned out the server never processed the payment correctly--even though she took the card, returned it, and gave us a receipt to sign. It was their mistake. Yet we were the ones who felt judged, embarrassed, and put on the spot. And still... there was no real apology. To make things even more upsetting, when my husband gave the card again to fix their error, the server asked if he could still include the tip from before. In that moment, it just felt like there was no awareness of how much stress and embarrassment had already been caused. Yes, the manager later offered to refund the meal--but this was never about the money. We came here to enjoy time as a family, to create happy memories with our kids. Instead, we were left feeling uncomfortable, disrespected, and honestly just really sad. As a parent, it's hard when your kids witness something like that. But if anything, it turned into a lesson for them--to stand up for yourself, even when you're being treated unfairly. We work hard for moments like these, and this experience took away from what should have been a beautiful family trip. I truly hope no other family has to go through something like this. read more
