Stayed here for two days during my time at Avila Beach. First time at Avila as I've been to Pismo many times before. This is one of the few hotels right next to the beach so it's very convenient for those that want to go surfing and enjoy the time at the beach. However there were couple of problems with the hotel itself. 1) Lack of security I noticed that the gates to the swimming pool and rooms were all unlocked. Even though there's a "key pass", you can simply push the gate and open things. When we told the people at the front desk, they merely acknowledged it and didn't do anything about it, saying that this is a known fact for a couple of months now. This is concerning because anyone can basically walk inside, regardless if they are staying there are not. 2) Lack of direction for EV charging My family and I wanted to charge our Tesla before heading back home. While EV charging was free, there were only two ports available and both were occupied. However we noticed that one of them, the car was fully charged already but didn't move their car out. As such, this was hard because we didn't know the owner of that car and we wanted them to move so we can charge. It would be great if the owner can provide clarity to EV chargers on ensuring that people comply with moving their car once they are done charging. 3) Bathroom amenities In the shower room, there is no ventilation so when showering, the air gets congested and the mirrors become blurry because of the heat. Another thing I didn't appreciate was how high the bathtub was. As someone who's 5' it definitely felt like a huge jump. Additionally the location of the amenities were located super high up in the shower. I had to tippy-toe to get the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They should move it down or put it somewhere else, easier for people to grab. For the high price per night, these things need to be reevaluated and considered by upper management.

I graduated from Cal Poly and I love visiting Avila Beach. It's been a tradition for 30 years. Staying at the Avila lighthouse suites always makes the trip seems so magical. Our visit this time we were coordinating with Brittany from the front desk. She's so amazing and efficient. Gave us the best customer service, we are so grateful to her for everything she did for us. We will definitely be back. Anybody thinking about staying here? It's right across from the beach, the staff is amazing, the rooms are always clean. And there are wonderful restaurants and shops and walking distance. And to add their beds are super soft and I love the amenities so I don't have to bring my shampoo and conditioner and lotion. Just another addition to make a trip easier.

Absolutely stunning spot! We will go back as often as we can! Friendly staff, amazing breakfast and adorable suites! Something for every member of the family, impeccable cleanliness! Love this place!

I've been to the Avila Lighthouse Suites twice now, and had nothing but amazing experiences. The rooms are always clean, smell good, and have great amenities. We always book an "ocean front" room, and it's just incredible to be able to open the doors, sit on the deck, and just let the ocean breeze blow in. They have a nice simple breakfast in the mornings that we've enjoyed, and it's so nice to be close to other restaurants, shops, and steps away from the beach. The service is always great and everyone at the front desk is very helpful. I can't wait to stay here again!

Best customer service ever! Nicole at the front desk was SO amazing and helpful! As we're all of front desk staff! She got us a room last minute and made check in so easy and enjoyable. We had to change rooms on day two and they made that so easy and took such good care of us. They even moved all of our things while we went and got food waiting for our next room to be ready. Both rooms were amazing and beautiful with a view of the ocean. They had everything we needed wine opener, robes, actual coffee cups. All of the housekeeping staff was so hard working and professional. Make sure to tip them. Their job is so important! Just a great little 2 day vacation! The grounds and rooms are some of the cleanest I have ever seen. Definitely going back every chance we get!!

Perfect for our 27th anniversary! E-bikes available on sight for a 9 mile ride around Avila and the Bob Jones Trail, and free breakfast. We wish we would have know. About this when our kids were little. Poll, across the street from the beach, games, warm cookies, and lots more. Elaine was the best in the lobby!

We love going to Avila beach ! This hotel as always been on our bucket list to stay at. The price here can be high, so for us I knew off season would be the best price for us. We were lucky to be able to stay twice in the last 4 months. Back in October 2023 I had found a deal on Expedia and we had a good stay $226 a night . Lucky for us we got an email from lighthouse talking about a great deal that started this month of 40%off rooms! Yay!! So of course I had to check it out. First off more about the hotel, it offers free breakfast which is better than the pismo location in my opinion (eggs, a breakfast meat, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, muffins, bagels and more) . The pool and hot tube are right in front of the beach and are good sizes. Both times we had park view rooms and I could still see the ocean. They have corn hole, big checkers, ping pong, and a little putting green. The lobby is nice and has a few little snacks and drinks you can buy. Also everyday they have fresh cookies I. The lobby , that was my kid's favorite part was walking down there to see what cookie was there that day. Now back to our last stay, we got a great deal with taxes it was like $124 a night for a king size bed that has a living room with a queen pull out couch and a park view. We were so excited but towards then end of booking it says by the way we have a new resort few of $45 a day(and this is taxed to so it's more like $50 a day). I had got such a great price on the room I was like that's fine, cause I mean the property is a cross the street from the beach , right next to the three of the main restaurants in town and you get breakfast plus last I came parking is free. When we got to the hotel to check in we told what the resort fee included which was 8 am yoga on the beach (since there is no gym),free checkout of beach equipment (chairs, balls, toys), free one hour bike rental for two , a bottle of wine and 10% off at the local restaurants and I think a few more things. Even though I thought it was high at first , hearing all the thing's included I was fine with it. But then I find out they are now also charging for parking! Now it's only $15 a night but I mean come on, why can't the resort fee cover parking. All in all the rooms are spacious and clean. We love the location of this hotel, it's our favorite part.

During the 10 minutes it took me to check in, I witnessed a woman come in at 4 PM and be told her room would not be ready until 5 PM no apology given just told "housekeeping has a lot of rooms to clean." I also witnessed a man come in visibly frustrated, saying that maintenance had knocked and requested entry multiple times when he had a do not disturb sign on the door. Another guest came in and was requesting sheets because the sheets that had been left for the pullout couch were not the right size and she had called the evening before multiple times and nobody ever brought her a sheet. Keep in mind those are three instances that happened just while I was standing there for check-in. I can only imagine the other issues that were had. Personally, I called multiple times for pool towels and other towels and was told that the housekeeper was busy and she'd be there with they could. I got the stuff I needed only half of the time. I asked for our trash cans to be emptied, and only half of the trash cans in the room were emptied. The door to our room would not open unless you gave it a good kick or threw your shoulder into it, which is absolutely ridiculous. Empty Vending machines, subpar service to say the least. No one who worked there was incredibly welcoming, and overall they claimed to be short staffed, but we had issues and throughout our entire stay. Incredibly uncomfortable couch bed too. This stay was absolutely horrendous and disappointing.

Stayed here only one night, on New Year's Eve, but will definitely be back for an extended stay/vacation. Apparently this is a popular (timeshare) destination for families; with beautiful suites & fully equipped kitchens. The $30 daily resort fee included access to common areas with bbq grills, game room, pool, spa, tennis courts, etc. There are a few shops and restaurants a short drive away; but I recommend doing a quick grocery run prior to checking in so you won't have to leave and you can enjoy all the great things this property has to offer.

In a way, I was actually relieved to read some of the other recent reviews and realize that we weren't alone in feeling disappointed. I'll start with the positives. My daughter and I stayed here as part of a special graduation gift, and we were in Building F. While it is an older building, the beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning worked wonderfully, and our room was nice and quiet. The owner of the Secret Garden was absolutely fabulous and a bright spot during our stay. Unfortunately, the other employee we encountered there was not nearly as welcoming. Sadly, I agree with several other reviewers that the overall experience simply does not match the price point. Our check-in experience was awful, and overall we found the level of service from several employees to be very disappointing. The property itself is beautiful and has so much potential, but for the price, we expected a much higher level of hospitality and attention to detail. The hot tubs are also in serious need of updating. We visited the spa as well, which was just OK, but unfortunately found some of the young women working there to be surprisingly unfriendly and rude. I truly wish our experience had been different, especially since this was meant to be a special mother-daughter graduation getaway. It's a beautiful setting, but based on the service and overall value for the price, we would not return.

My late husband and I purchased an every other year timeshare, directly from another owner here, years ago. I love visiting Avila Beach and this timeshare continues to serve its purpose. Some years back it was taken over by Hilton. As far as the property itself, the ownership change hasn't had a noticeable impact. I've always viewed this place as a bit outdated. However, it's maintained very well and is very clean. A majority of the room offer views of the ocean plus there are area on the property that you can relax outside with an ocean view. It's also a short walk from here to the oceanfront restaurant/shop area and the spectacular Bob Jones Trail! On this trip, I was very pleased with the new ceiling fan over the bed. In addition, they've replaced the terrible polyester bedsheets with cotton ones. I really hated the polyester ones, so I'm extremely happy about this! It seems to me that the housecleaning staff doesn't deal with recycling but I did notice recycling containers in the club. A tip, for those that would like to come for a week, but not purchase a timeshare, is to look at the RedWeek website. Here you'll find timeshare owners renting out their week. It can be an affordable way to stay here. I've included balcony view photos from a couple different rooms I've stayed in these last years.
