We really enjoyed the carne asada plate. Big enough to split when you include all the sides--including a grilled jalapeño and whole onion!

Very good, Authentic Mexican Cuisine. I live here in LV and it's our "go to" Restaurant.

My family ate there for dinner and overall it was a good experience. We ordered the fajitas for 2 which was plenty of food for the 4 of us. We do have 2 small girls, so they don't need much. I would recommend. read more

Food is good, service too. While decor is quaint, surroundings are kind of grungy. Ironically, a worker cleaned a table near use (spraying bleach) while we ate, but our table could have used a cleaning. This disregard for cleanliness and protocol for products containing bleach is the reason for 2 stars. read more

Stopped in 10 min before they closed and when i saw the greeter and asked for a table. Instead of saying "sure, welcome" or something like that, he looked at his watch as if to say "we are closing you idiot". I was seated, nice music was playing but in the next room the employees were playing some loud rap in Spanish so i was forced to listen to 2 blaring music types. As previously mentioned by others, the water was served without ice so if that's a problem just make sure you ask for ice in advance. I ordered rice, beans and regular crispy beef tacos. The tacos were tasty as well as the rice but the refried beans did not taste normal. Service was prompt but not overly friendly. These people need to learn to smile. Instead they make you feel like you are a burden on them. I paid with cash and when I handed it to the waiter he said "do you want change?". Pretty rude. I said yes and he owed me six dollars but instead he said "two dollars OK? I have never been to a restaurant where they presumed to take out their own tip and recommended the amount verbally to me like that. I was pretty shocked. Though most of the food was tasty I think the rudeness of this establishment needs to not go unnoticed and I will never return. I understand that there are two food trucks with Mexican food that has much better food and service in Leadville. There is also another restaurant called Casa Blanca that is reported to have better service and food. read more

This was a great find in our road trip, we had our dog we us so we were going for something fast and easy and we got more than we expected. Service was amazing and the enchilada suiza was even better. Their house margarita was great but the best part was their salsa which got to the table as we were sitting. read more

My wife and I had just arrived in town and were looking for something reasonably priced. We walked by Casa Sanchez and decided to check it out. The food was mediocre. I've definitely had better Mexican food in the metro area, but it wasn't bad. The price was reasonable, about $10 for entrees. Service was fine. This is a lovely, family owned establishment. The food was as good or better than in Mexico, with hot, hand made tortilla chips and salsa, delicious mole sauce, and spicy, lemony aguachile! This is a great little place. Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Service was great. Food was tasty.

Just pulled "she who must be obeyed's" camper up to this 10k ft high town of Leadville and we both said "Mx Food" sounds good for lunch". What a surprise to see Casa right on the main drag. We found a parking spot down a side street and entered the menagerie of brick walls, lamp lights, hovering vines, and blue painted skies. Yes...all indoors. We ordered our fav's, sloppy cox burrito for her and a tamale relleno combo for me. Excellent flavors, but wished for more "heat". Next time I'll order green chili on the side. Oh, did I say the margarita with Patron was to die for. I snooped around and found a cool bar in the back surrounding an old cistern. Is had a glass floor over it and could be used for dancing.... It's some 15 feet down and 12 around. Probably the water storage for the turn of the century building. Service was excellent and we felt like family!! If you can't drag yourselves up to the top of the world, I hear there is another Casa in Copper Mtn. Anyway, we are onto our next stop in Avon! read more

Hit this place up after summiting Elbert. Staff noticed us walk in right away, were very friendly, and seated us immediately. Place was packed. Chips and salsa were brought to table as we were being seated. I didn't care too much for the chips, they were just okay. Salsa was good and spicy! Drink orders taken right away (only ordered beers, no mixed drinks). For lunch I got the carnitas plate. Carnitas was delicious. I really liked the rice as well, and the beans. Guacamole was good. Overall a good experience. I don't know when I'll be back to Leadville but whenever that is I will eat here. Couldnt give 3.5 stars so I rounded up. I didn't give 5 stars as it's not my favorite place for Mexican food, and took off 0.5 stars as the chips were just okay, Modelo only in a bottle (not on tap), and my wife's shredded chicken was a tad dry. However, for Mexican food in Leadville this is the place. read more

I don't know where people have eaten before who gave this place 4 or 5 stars, but anyone who has ever eaten in a good Mexican restaurant would be appalled by the food at this one. I ordered a "green chile" burrito, in quotes because this thing had never been in the same zip code as a green chile of any kind. The plate was covered with some kind of yellow colloidal mass containing yellow cheese and ? Pushing this gel aside, I found a chewy tortilla that contained canned, dry stringy chicken and some other stuff of ambiguous provenance. It's just not that difficult to make a good burrito. Why they can't manage is a mystery. The staff seemed friendly but poorly trained as they were slow. Very slow. read more

Stopped by on our 'Colorado by car' tour. The steak tacos were good. I had the carnitas tacos with corn tortillas. I'd stay away from the corn. One star is too much. SO gross and absolutely disgusting. Nearly everyone in our party contracted food poisoning within two hours. Anything with chicken was rancid and contaminated. Got up to Leadville early and hungry. Casa Sanchez was open. Breakfast burritos -- one with chorizo and one with ham - were outstanding. Whoever was in the kitchen knew what they were doing. No cheese overload, Tex-Mex mess here. The large burritos came smothered, the flavors were outstanding, well-balanced, very tasty. Even the tortilla seemed a cut above. Most uncomfortable dining experience of my life. Seriously. To preface, there was a large event in town and we came in at the tail end of a busy lunch period. I will forgive much, including the wait, staff disorganization, the luke-warm mediocre food, and the general sense of hopelessness that hung over the restaurant. However, the waitress' (Angela) attitude can not be forgiven. This appears to be a family run business and it further appears that this individual was being forced to work against her will. Other than placing our order, we didn't directly interact with our waitress for the duration of our two hours there. We had to ask other staff members for menus, silverware, napkins, refills, our food, our check, etc. What we and everyone else in the restaurant did experience was Angela's eye rolling, sighing, complaining in Spanish, and multiple tantrums in response to seemingly benign requests, such as may I have my check, some silverware, a refill, the side that came with my meal, etc. You may have better luck, but I suggest trying another establishment. read more
