It took long enough for this place to open! But now that it is, it is my new go to place for Mexican. At first I noticed the slightly loud mariachi music playing on the outside speakers but it made it kinda fun. It was around 830 at night on a Thursday when we decided to try this place. When we entered, we were greeted immediately by whom looked like the manager. He was warm and friendly and seemed to take pride and be grateful that we came in and sat us promtly. It is very colorful and well decorated with Mexican tiles. The chips, salsa and a refried bean dip were perfect with no salt on the chips. I like to sprinkle a little salt on mine. We were greeted by Ana our waitress who was very nice and prompt with everything. My gf got a margarita and she says it's the best margarita she ever had! I tried it and it was delicious. We did not order an appetizer, although everything on the menu looked amazing! I ordered the seafood burrito which was so good! It had shrimp, scallops, and fish. I love this place and come here once a week. My favorite is the queso dip. Every server I had has been excellent and attentive. My only disappointment with eating here lately is watching all the staff hang out in front of the main register/door. I've sat there waiting for my server to offer me a drink while watching 6 of the employees hanging out, flirting, joking, while I sit waiting. My Mexican heart is so happy that I have finally found a Mexican restaurant in the North Shore that is as authentic as it gets. In my opinion, the real test of a good Mexican restaurant is the rice and beans. If they can't get this right, and they try to give me some "Mexican" pilaf rice, then I can't trust that the rest of their food. But this place makes their rice and beans on point!! I had the Chile Verde plate and it was delicious. The meat was tender and the sauce was just spicy enough without being distracting. My friends had the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo (Shrimp in a Garlic Sauce) and the Fajitas. Everyone enjoyed their food. I also have to mention that our server (Alberto) was fantastic, actually everyone there was nice and very attentive. Alberto who took care of us was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and so many menu options, that everyone is sure to find something they like. Just one thing. I live right off Rt 1 and been waiting months for this place to open. My boyfriend and I went on opening night, were quickly seated and helped. Our waiter was Carlos. I have to say this place is so close to what you get down south. Finally someone gets it here up north. My wife and I went here about 2 weeks ago and loved it. Our favorite spanish spot closed but Casa vallarta has taken that spot now. The staff was friendly and attentive even though it seemed busy as hell. The food came out at what i would say is the perfect pace, not rushed but not to long a wait between apps and entrees. App Taquitos We went for the shredded beef. The sauce with them was good, the meat by itself was a little bland but when you combined every thing they were awsome. Entree Casa vallarta combo of enchilada,chimichanga, and burrito. And Pastor tacos and a tamale. Everything on my plate was very flavorful and good, but the only gripe i have when places do the combo plate that has a burrito is that the burrito is basically another enchilada of ground beef rather then a burrito. Went to this place on a Friday night after seeing that the Border Cafe had an hour wait. My coworker had told me she went here with her boyfriend and the drinks were good so I figured I'd try it out, I'm a big fan of Mexican food. We walk in and immediately the hostess is very friendly, and brought us right to our table. Our server came over promptly, service was extremely efficient. We received an appetizer on the house!!!!!! My frozen strawberry margarita was delicious as well as my meal and the free appetizer!!! Our server and other staff members periodically checked in on us making sure everything was great. I think I was the first person to review this when it first opened. It was amazing and the service was top notch. Now ..I have been there about 4 times in the last few months and it has gone down hill. Understandable that once a place opens great there may be some slipping here and there , but last night was the worst yet . We waited for a bit after finally getting old chips cold dip and salsa with nothing to pour it into like plates or little bowls. The "manager" was asked by my girlfriend about a suggestion on a drink and he told her "why don't you just get a daiquiri" like a real jerk. We ordered and within 3 min my food was on the table. Cold no spice on the chicken or steak fajitas (they use to smoke and sizzle before) . Got drinks with zero alcohol straight fruit drink, and the manager could be bothered less because he was too busy watch a car auction. When he finally came over to hand us our bill and not even ask if we needed anything else . I asked if Jorge and his brother still ran the place . His smart ass replied with "ya but you'll never see them here anymore" .. I know that Jorge having met him many times and knows my face would be bullshit to see how his staff acts when there is no real boss watching over them . What a pleasant surprise. We are always looking for something on the way home from Red Sox games, and this place was excellent. They start you with delicious warm nacho chips and refried beans as well as plenty of salsa, and if you get low they bring more! The guacamole was delicious and the house margaritas were as well.
