This was my first time at Scopa, and unfortunately, the experience was a bit subpar for me. My friend and I started with the oysters, crab cakes, and meatballs. The oysters were delicious, and the crab cake was probably my favorite of the starters. The meatball was interesting. It had pork and ground beef and was quite gamey, but it lacked the flavor I was expecting. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken broccoli Alfredo. Unfortunately, the chicken cutlet was pretty bland, and overall, the dish was just okay. I've definitely had better Italian meals. There were a few highlights, but overall, Scopa just didn't leave the impression I was hoping for on my first visit. Maybe I didn't order the right dishes, but based on this experience, I wouldn't be rushing back. read more

Overall it was just ok. They upcharge for the purse drinks that weren't even available for the entire party of 4. Went for girl dinner. Glad I didn't get the salad cause it looked over dressed. Nearby parties were also not impressed with the food. My dish was salty and wasn't hot. The place was packed towards the end of the night yet the conversations were challenging to have as they tried to raise the music above conversation. I will not be a repeating customer as parking was a challenge and service wasn't up to par with other local Italian restaurants. I did find some comic relief from the older crowd not enjoying the clientele coming in and out of the neighboring dispensary. Maybe that'll increase some senses and appetite next time. read more

This was based on a delivery, but it came very quickly. I am just not sure if i'm just picky on my chicken broccoli ziti. I would say the sauce did not have very much of a garlic taste.It had more of like a chicken broth taste and it was pretty thick. The pasta and the chicken were good, but I wouldn't say it was my favorite, maybe if I went in person. It would be better because it wouldn't have sat for a little bit. We had a very good lunch yesterday afternoon . We decided to eat indoors instead of outside due to windy conditions- Although the outdoor dining next to a marsh stream would be a choice in the future . The Caesar salad was split and was quite good and plenty for us. The fresh bread with oil mixture was a nice addition as well. After walking though North Boston and smelling all the delicious aromas of homemade food, we knew we wanted to fit an authentic Italian restaurant into our itinerary during our roadtrip tour of the northeast U.S. The problem: We did not want to deal with finding parking in North Boston, nor did we want to wait for a table as we had already wasted many hours waiting in lines during a long holiday weekend. So we entered Scopa into our Google maps and made our way to this delicious restaurant on our way back into Boston. We are so glad we did. It was the best meal we had over five days and in three different states. Plus--easy parking and no wait times! The food was outstanding. You can taste the quality. The fettuccine is made in house. I enjoyed chicken Parmesan and my daughter had the chicken piccata which was fresh and lemony. The service was excellent, and the view was even better. It is located in a quiet neighborhood overlooking a waterfront that I definitely wasn't expecting. If I lived in Boston, it would be worth the drive to eat here. read more

Came here for a date night and honestly, maybe I'm spoiled by better Italian spots that Lynn have to offered, but this place was pretty mid overall. Nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either. Food: Crab cakes - Served lukewarm, which made them taste a little fishy. Not the best start. Meatball app - Decent, but the sauce leaned too tart for me. Lobster ravioli - Wrapper was too thick and weighed down the dish. Flavor was just average. Bolognese - Pasta was slightly overcooked and the sauce didn't have much depth. Service & Space: Service was on the slower side, and the dining space itself felt cramped, which made it less comfortable to enjoy a meal. Between the pace and the tight setup, it wasn't the most relaxing dinner. It's fine if you're nearby and want Italian, but given the food, service, and space, it wouldn't be my first choice when there are stronger Italian options around. read more

What a cute little spot in Lynn! The inside is so beautiful, and there is a nice bar where we sat. Our bartender was amazing and very attentive. We ordered two cocktails and had a wine each with supper. The homemade pasta is absolutely amazing. My husband ordered the bolognese, and I ordered the chicken vodka pasta. Tried out the newly opened Scopa on the Lynn/Saugus line last night. It is teeny tiny and there was not an empty table, so it was quite loud making it hard to converse. It is nicely decorated and full of fun Halloween decorations. The focaccia and oil dip were delicious. I got Chicken. Francese. It came with pasta; and when I asked what kind they had, I was given only fresh pasta options. There was no mention of an up charge nor did the menu mention one. From previous comments on Facebook, I knew to request no salt. We had to request fresh cracked pepper. I also had to request grated cheese. I was brought a glass shaker filled with grated cheese. Later, I observed a waitress actually grating fresh cheese over freshly served pasta plates! Upon asking my waiter about it, he told me he brought me the grated cheese I requested; and what I witnessed was shaved cheese!!!!????? Ordered a cappuccino for dessert, and it was lukewarm after a long wait for it. When I mentioned it to him, he was not familiar with the term lukewarm, but did take it away to have another made. The bill was left and I was charged extra for the fresh pasta. That was a surprise. I asked him about it, and his response was that everyone knows fresh pasta costs extra. I suggested he mention it to his customers and the menu should also reflect it. I also reminded him that he did not give me any other options. He offered to remove the up charge from my bill. While I was still waiting for the cappuccino, the Manager came over asking who got the Chicken Francese. She was lovely and felt my feedback was important so they could do better going forward. I was impressed. She offered to remove the up charge from my bill. When she brought it back, she had also comped the cappuccino. Absolutely incredible food. The Eggplant Rollatini melted in my mouth. The chicken parm was the best I've had in at least half a decade-- perfectly crispy on the outside and well cooked. The service was also fantastic and attentive. So why four stars? The restaurant is far too noisy (though that seems to be the style these days), the vestibule and host stand smell because of the cannabis shop next door (the dining area does not), and the opening of the parking area is... unclear at best. This was our second time dining at Scopa, and it did not disappoint! We had a 5:30 reservation on the patio and were seated promptly. Our server was warm and welcoming; I started with a lemon drop martini--it was lemony and refreshing. For an appetizer, we tried the fried mozzarella, which was delicious. Checked out Scopa Italian when we were in the Rt 1 area looking for something new to try. It a rather small place in Lynn right on the Saugus River. It looked pretty crowded so hubby went in and the host said it would be a half an hour or so and took our phone number to call us when a table was ready. We waited in the car right next to the entrance and in no time at all the host came out and said to come on in your table is ready. We sat at a high top right neat the bar. Perfect spot for me anyway as the Celtics were on and I had a perfect view. The inside is very cozy and welcoming. We had a very friendly waitress who was very accommodating. I started with a Cosmo. Very, very, good. A delicious Focaccia bread and oil was brought to the table as well. I got the Chicken Marsala with fresh Fusilli. Super tasty and delicious! I will say it had a little too much sauce for me. Next time I will just say a little less sauce. Hubby got Chicken Parmesan which was very good as well. We didn't have room for dessert but saw some going to other tables and looks delicious. We went back a few weeks later. This time I opted for an Appletini. Instead of the typical green Sour Apple Martini, it was red. A Washington Apple Martini. Very, very good. I got Chicken Piccata this time and hubby got his Chicken Parmesan. Both were delicious. All in all our experience at Scopa was really phenomenal! I went with two friends, and we decided to share our dishes to try a little bit of everything. For our appetizer, we got the Caesar salad, prosciutto rollatini, and meatballs. All three appetizers were great, but the meatballs really stood out to me because they were simply massive and delicious!! For our dinner, we decided to share the carbonara and the clams and linguine in the white wine broth. Those were also very good! Note that the carbonara has caramelized onions (which is stated on the menu). I thought it was a very delicious spin on a traditional carbonara because the onions made the sauce a bit sweeter! Last for dessert we got the lemon cake, tiramisu, and brownie sundae. Oh my goodness this was my favorite part! I'm a big sweet tooth, but I hate when things are overly sweet and these three desserts hit the spot perfectly. The one that stood out to me was the brownie sundae because it had crunchy bits (chocolate chips) inside with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream!! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it made it very cozy and ambient. It was pretty loud but in a good way, where you could see that everyone was enjoying themselves when you looked around. The water by the restaurant was also gorgeous at sunset. Based on how packed the restaurant was, I was surprised I was so easily able to get a for prime time dinner time the day before! I was excited to try Scopa. I've read a lot of really great reviews recently andread an awesome article on FB. I ordered a takeout order, sausage, pepper and onion pizza and a Caesar salad. I asked for the pizza to be well done not burnt light on the peppers. The pizza was white on the bottom, undercooked and raw with a lot of peppers and the Caesar salad was average at best. It was warm the lettuce was limp and not very fresh and the crouton (one piece of bread) was flavorless as was the dressing. I know that it was takeout but still the pizza was a soggy mess and it was only a short 1 mile ride home. I definitely will go back and try again BUT THIS TIME WE WILL DINE IN. It's a nice place, cozy and the staff are very nice. They should not be discounted just for one bad experience, but the pizza is far below expectations I expect better than that. read more

Homemade fettuccine with it was cooked a perfect al dente. My wife enjoyed her chicken broccoli ziti, which was a bit unique with optional addition of cherry tomatoes and choice of fried chicken. Went at 5:30 on a Tuesday night for a friend's birthday.The atmosphere was cozy with linen tablecloths and a dozen tables. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable and no rush. The food was very good. We started with a half Cesar salad and eggplant rollatini. Both delicious. I had a special of blackened swordfish with asparagus and spinach risotto. Very flavorful and satisfying portions. For dessert we split a delicious tiramisu. I would highly recommend Scopa and will definitely return. Three adults had a martini to start and a glass of wine with dinner. The bill was 200. before tip. This was, in my opinion, very reasonable. Try it- you will be glad you did! read more

I was searching for a local place that served authentic Italian food so the good reviews on Yelp prompted me to try Scopa. Walking in I immediately noticed the beautiful decor and ambience of an old time Italian restaurant . Our waitress was spectacular. Now onto the food :the bread served with the dipping oil ,no doubt is freshly made on site and it was delicious. The entrées on the other hand were disappointing. I personally found the red sauce with the chicken parm to be lacking in flavor and texture . The small amount of pasta that they serve created an entrée swimming in sauce. I had to ask for extra pasta which was an additional 7.95. Unfortunately authentic Italian did not resonate with me but the waitress did make it an enjoyable experience. read more

Wonderful spot right on the Saugus River. The restaurant interior is small, so I would highly recommend a reservation. There was a small parking lot, but on a busy night parking may be tough. The food and drinks were very good. We especially enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the friend calamari appetizer. Service was great. We were seated immediately at our reserved table. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and helped us to celebrate my sister's birthday by having the chef decorate her dessert plate special. But after hearing amazing things about Scopa, we decided to give it a try. And WOW! This hidden gem exceeded all expectations! We arrived for a 6pm reservation for my girlfriend's birthday on a Saturday night. One of the owners (Tyler ) was very friendly and accommodating. Offered us a complimentary glass of wine while we waited for our table , which I thought was very classy . We entered the small and buzzing dining room . And we were caught up in the moment taking it all in . As we settled down . We ordered 2 half Caesar salads , crisp and fresh with a garlic crouton and shaved Parmesan . (10 ) the entrees were rustic and executed to perfection. As a Professional chef and fellow Italian . We could not rave enough about this place . Even during dinner ! She loved her CZB Alfredo and the same for my veal parmigiana. We cannot thank Tyler enough for being so attentive and genuine for a young man in the bustling restaurant scene.
