Food is not good. Bruschetta needed salt. House salad needed salt. Eggplant rollatini was stuffed with WAY too much parsley that I had to scoop it out before eating. The marinara sauce tasted like it was straight plain "tomato sauce" from the can--it had absolutely no taste needs more garlic, onion, orageno, basil, and LITTLE parsley. Penne vodka was too salty & I'm guessing it's because the pasta waster was over salted. Best thing we're the mussels in red sauce!!! The waitress was no where to be found every time we needed something however the bus boys were great & very attentive and professional-- asking us if we wanted black pepper or cheese on our dishes. They were really great and a big reason I'm giving 2 stars.... for that reason and for price of The Complete Dinner Special and the potential of this establishment. Travelled from PA for a lunch this past Saturday to meet family members who live in SI. We all selected items from the lunch special $14.50 I think. Outstanding value. Food was incredible. I had a large bowl of lentil soup (freshly grated Parmesan, of course), eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. I was too full for dessert which was also included. Others I was with had salads (super fresh), stuffed shells, veal parm, filet of sole. Everyone was happy with their selections. Wait staff was great. We took our time and savored each bite! Haven't been there in awhile. Decided to stop in for dinner. Started with Eggplant Rollatini-Very Good. Main Course was Veal Parmigiana and Penne-Good/Very Good. Dessert was Ice Cream with Espresso. My wife ordered the Mussels as appetizer, and Chicken Marsala as entree with Chocolate Parfait as dessert-Good/Very Good. Overall, Rating is between a 3 and a 4, closer to a 4 for this trip. I ordered the chicken parm sub. The bread was hot and delicious. The chicken was good but not enough sauce. I also thought it could of used more chicken. Definitely under seasoned. My husband and I come here about twice a month. I love all the eggplant dishes, and my husband usually order one of the veal dishes. The price fixe are great deals, too much food really. The five star is for its marinara sauce - the best ever; not too sweet, not too salty, not too tart...(go ahead and drool, I am), just perfect. The decor goes with the food, the old Italian restaurant. Get a bottle of Red, and you finish the picture (or song). The staff are friendly and efficient too. I was just about to leave a 5-star review for dining here once about 4 months ago; however, I happened to see that their recent health department inspection results found 3 violations. This concerns me because I never want to have any restaurant's kitchen practices possibly cause me some type of illness. With that said, I am basing this review on only one previous experience which was excellent. Even without a reservation the owner was extremely obliging to accommodate a group of 4 with only a 10 minute wait for a table to be prepared for us. The wait staff was adequate and the meal was delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them. We plan to visit this restaurant again in the near future with hopes to have a similar experience. My impression of the owner was that he is a hands-on manager who will make an effort to see that the health violations are remedied and will not incur any more on the next inspection. Additionally, there is a takeout pizza kitchen here which we do patronize for very good pizzas and sandwiches. read more

a great stop for Italian in Staten Island. Me and my family came here after one of my cheer competitions at the college of Staten Island. It was snowing and we didn't know where to go but we were hungry so we came across casa verde and thought we'd give it a try. It doesn't look like much from the outside but once you sit down and try the food you'll be amazed. For the 2nd stop on my summer Italian restaurant tour we ate at Casa Verde. We haven't been there in about a year and a half. Adam the owner seemed to remember us and welcomed us back. So nice to see the same staff too. Happy to see that they still offered reasonably priced complete dinner specials which include an appetizer (even mussels) delicious salad, main course (I had the chicken francese and they gave me 2 pieces - enough to take one home!) Great tasting traditional Italian food. The place is small, so you'll probably need a reservation on weekends. 11 of us ate here for my cousin's birthday. Every table was full and more people kept coming in during the 3 hours we were there. The service is terrific. The owner came over to us several times to make sure we had everything we needed and greeted us on our way in and out. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The fare is traditional Italian food. Coming from a traditional Italian family who gets good homemade Italian food all the time, I can say the food was very fresh and was delicious. The place is deceiving from the outside. I always thought it was only a pizzeria and I didn't expect such a great restaurant. I pass this place all the time and never really took note of it. We had dinner on a Friday evening from the alacart menu. The restaurant is clean, well-decorated, and quiet. Service prompt and courteous. Amuse vouch of eggplant caponata and olive; both seemingly vanished. Dinner special of chicken and veal in a brown sauce with chopped shrimp and shiitakes was delicious, with very tender meats. Chicken Parm was perfectly flattened, fried well, with their delicious red sauce. Bottom line, they are well-worth the trip. read more

HIDDEN GEM.... My husband and I finally decided to try this restaurant and we are happy we did. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the owner who showed us to our table. Mary (I believe is her name) helped us with our wine selection and served us. The food was absolutely delicious. It was flavorful and very nice sized portions. My mom and I came here for an early birthday dinner. We ordered from the complete dinner menu. She had the eggplant rolitini appetizer and chicken with vegetables as main. I had the mozzarella capproza appetizer and cavetelli mulberry street feast. It also came with a house salad for each of us. Everything was delicious. Just stopped in real quick for a couple plain slices, service was fast! Restroom was clean and the restaurant area was decently crowded for a Tuesday night. I heard the food was pretty good but I'm strictly reviewing the pizza because I haven't made it there for a meal yet. The 2 slices are huge, I'm not sure if I got lucky or it's a regular thing here. The slice kinda has an oven taste to it, I'm pretty sure they left it in there for a little to long. Not the worst pizza in the neighborhood and not the best. I wouldn't mind eating it again. I have been coming to this restaurant when it was the old Bella Vita on Richmond Ave. The food is delicious, always served hot and yummy. We enjoy the bread basket before the meal as well. The service is great and the mixed drinks are made well. The owner always seems to be there and checks on every table to make sure they're enjoying their meal. It's a comfortable and reliable staple for my husband and I. We even order pizza and take out on occasion. They have a small pizza parlor that delivers. I definitely reccomend. read more

Fabulous, thin pizza , with a nice sauce to cheese ratio. Fusilli with sausage & broccoli raab , veal parmigiana , salads, sauteed vegetables , fabulous . Potato croquettes are too dense & pasty tasting . This was a delivery , and fabulous (pizza I had in the store). If it was so good on a delivery, you know the food is off the charts fabulous in house. That being said, the pictures of the restaurant , make the seating look claustrophobic , and it appears to be tables only, with no booths. Parking can be tight. Have gone here quite a few times with my friends and family. Very good place to eat. All the food always tastes fresh. My favorite is the sole Francees, so delicate and light in a perfect lemon wine sauce. Mussels are also delicous as well as the pizzas and pastas . Calamari is very good too. My friends father brought the family and I here to try to pizza and chicken roll and i have to say prob the best I've ever had.Not to mention I've taken friends and my girlfriend to the restaurant side of the place. I hadn't had really good Italian food in a while. this place set the bar even higher for Italian. The location leaves you wondering bit trust you won't be disappointed. My waiter was attentive. I'm not a big bread eater usually but the bread was so GOOD. I had the chicken marsala, amazing. Pasta was good. The star of this meal was dessert, the tiramasu. I can't get it off my mind. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! We made reservations but when we got there we were told they were overbooked. Initially we were told it would be 10 minutes, which turned to 20 and then over 30 minutes. When we went to leave the staff walked out to the parking lot and said it would be ready soon. Very small restaurant that is obviously not capable of managing a busy day. Thanks to the restaurant we called, who gave us a "real" reservation and a great meal. read more

I ordered from here a few times the pizza is usually great. But, I ordered 2 orders buffalo wings recently at $8.00 each and they were greasy fried chicken wings with no buffalo sauce. I Called and they said they don't put buffalo sauce on the wings and I would have had to ask for hot sauce... umm it's called buffalo wings. Lol...anyways $45 dollars later I was still hungry.
