We came here to celebrate my father in laws bday, and we didn't regret it! I liked how the kitchen was the first thing you see as you opened the front door. We were greeted right away by the chefs as you entered in. The place was really colorful inside, and showed a lot of culture through its decorations and artworks. It was a fun environment to be in. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, and it was really tasty. The steak was tender, and it balanced out well with the acidity from the onions and tomatoes. It was a great hearty meal. My girlfriend got the Arroz Con Mariscos, and I liked that even more! The seafood was fresh and they had a lot of variety. Almost reminded me of a paella in some ways. The parking wasn't bad, we had to park in the neighborhood behind the building, but if you're lucky there's a few spots on the street at the front. The server was friendly, but she was definitely worked though. Not sure if someone called out, or if they're understaffed in the front. It did take awhile to get our orders in. As a Peruvian visiting Portland, Casa Zoraya immediately made a great first impression. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, colorful, and unmistakably Peruvian the moment you walk through the door. The atmosphere feels authentic, the space is immaculate, and the attention to cleanliness was noticeable. Easily 5 stars for the ambiance and overall presentation. For food, I ordered the Lomo Saltado Criollo. It wasn't your traditional lomo saltado, and I'm assuming adding the word "criollo" and changing the presentation is what justifies the nearly $30 price tag. That said, flavor-wise it was excellent. The seasoning was on point, the ingredients were well executed, and the presentation was beautiful. No complaints about the quality of the food itself. Unfortunately, the service was a different story. Upon arrival, I stood waiting for approximately 7-10 minutes before anyone assisted me. A kitchen employee repeatedly told me, "She's coming," so I assumed the server would be right over. During that time, other guests arrived after me and were also waiting. When the server finally came out, she acknowledged me by saying she'd be right with me, then proceeded to assist the guests who arrived after I did. They were only ordering drinks, but it was frustrating that she didn't take a moment to determine who had been waiting first. Once seated, service remained inconsistent. Another table that had arrived before me was still waiting to place their order, and since I was dining alone and trying to catch a flight out of PDX, I was concerned I'd be overlooked. Thankfully, the food came out quickly. However, throughout the rest of the meal, not once did my server check in to see if I needed anything. I had to flag down another employee for aji and later for my check. Coming from California, where I'm used to paying California prices, a quality lomo saltado typically runs between $22-$27 and is often accompanied by attentive service. I don't mind paying $30 for a plate when the food delivers, and this one certainly did. But for that price point, the service should match the quality coming out of the kitchen. Cozy ambient and intimate covered outdoor seating enhanced the overall experience. My husband made reservations to this restaurant for a Friday evening. We arrived a bit late and were asked to wait 5-7 minutes. After that, we were quickly taken to our table. There, our waitress handed us the menu where we looked over the selections. We decided to ordered one appetizer to share and two entrees. We decided to go with the Papa Rellena. It is filled with meat and an egg and enclosed in potato. There is a cheesy sauce that it's paired with and it's goes so well together. I can easily chow down 4, but that will be my entire dinner. Our main entrees were the Arroz Chaufa and the Lomo Saltado Criollo. I had the Arroz Chaufa dish. It is a fried rice with pork belly. There are sausage, bok choy, snow peas and a fried egg on top. Everything goes so well together. Overall it is a very nice fried rice dish. My husband ordered the Lomo Saltado Criollo and it's a steak with potato and white rice. First of all, the signage is non-existent. When I thought I was there, I had to go in and ask if it was the restaurant. After that, however, everything was wonderful. We sat outside and the patio area that was covered and had heaters - - if anything it got too warm (was 50 degrees outside). It is a lovely area. There were four of us, and we all enjoyed it immensely. The empanada appetizers were delicious. We had the special entrées of the day, one of which was similar to a paella. All the food was delicious. Our service people were very knowledgeable and there when they were needed. Oh yes, the Pisco Sours were also very good - - particularly the passionfruit one. read more

I am always in a lookout for an excellent Peruvian Restaurant. This place blew our minds off!! Being daughter of a Peruvian I am very picky for excellence and a real and authentic Peruvian Dish. This place is outstanding. Every bite of each dish took me back to my family's homemade Peruvian food in Peru. We ordered the Passionfruit Pisco Sour for drinks and it was made to perfection. For food we had Anticuchos de Pollo, Fish Ceviche and Rice with Seafood. For dessert we couldn't miss the Picarones (staple dessert but barely a few restaurants make it). Every dish is delicately made and super thoughtfully decorated. Service is amazing. Our server was extremely nice. I was celebrating my birthday and they gave me a delicate dessert on the house. They have one seasonal fish with the regular combination of calamari (sautéed to perfection, tender and tasty), scallops, all in a creamy rice base with little steamer clams presented in a semi-circle around the dish. Having been to Peru a few years back, we were excited to try Casa Zoraya in North Portland. It's in a very unsuspecting location and the signage out front is not very ostentatious, so it's easy to miss. But, to be clear, nobody should miss out on Casa Zoraya! a must-visit and we would be delighted to come back. Restaurant: There's two front doors, the first enters to a counter to the kitchen and the door on the left is to a modest dining room. We were seated out on the back patio, which is definitely an all-season patio with a roof covering for the rainy season and the addition of fans and misters for warmer seasons. It's quite a casual atmosphere, but inviting with bright colors and touches of Peru scattered across the premises. Service: The wait staff was attentive and friendly. They proactively took our empanadas off our bill because we'd waited for a while to receive them, which was a very thoughtful but unnecessary gesture. We never went without water or drinks and felt that our needs were met from start to finish. Appetizers: Papa Rellena- order comes with 2 perfectly cripsy croquettes with a lovely sauce to complement them. Empanada de Ají de Gallina- order comes with 2 empanadas. Being a big fan of Ají de Gallina, I was nervous that the empanada would not do it justice. But, I was wrong; it was a perfect way to enjoy it. Entrees: Ceviche de Pescado- our fish of the day was Hawaiian ono, which came with a complex mezcla, including 2 types of inca corn. Arroz con Mariscos- this was accurately described to us as their "paella-like" dish. It came with clams and fried ono. Not bad but not our favorite. Arroz Chaufa- a Chinese-Peruvian dish that was the table favorite. The pork belly and rice were both cooked to perfection. Dessert: Alfajor: a very unique dish, with many different flavors. Another phenomenal dish and my partner and I CLEARED the plate SERVICE Friendly staff and was sat quickly without a reservation. The lowered rating was due to a service mishap. When we checked out, we were presented with one amount. But later on my card statement, they charged us way more than the original amount (in print the day of) amount + tips and fees. Not accusing, but seems like they charged us additional items after we closed the bill. Customers beware. ALL IN ALL, solid restaurant and great taste. Be prepared to $$$ spend. When ordering a cocktail & they ask you for a choice of liquor be prepared to pay for the liquor, plus the drink. Example: margarita $3 plus the liquor $9, I assume the prices of liquors vary. Food is good, ambience? Cold! The Peruvian waitress has a very snobby attitude, (she may be the owner) and I think that her snobby attitude is only towards latino women, as she feels superior? Maybe? I go there because is close to where I live & the food is skimpy, but has a good taste., I recommend to look for other options of Peruvian restaurants in Beaverton. My husband and I had a giftcard but had never been before and I left knowing I would think about this meal for a while. It was one of the best meals that I have had in a while. I am not usually super into shredded chicken but almost ordered another set of these bad boys because they were so good. The potato croquetas were also delicious. They were perfectly fried on the outside and well seasoned mashed potato on the inside. I am not a fan of olives and was informed (after) that olives are apart of the ground beef mixture, though that wasnt listed in the ingredients under the item. But no worries, I ate my husbands empanada and handed my husband my croqueta. We then ordered the Chicharron de Puerco, Fried pork with sweet potatoes and it was really well done. Lastly, my favorite dish of the night, the Arroz Chaufa. It is pork belly and shrimp, stir-fried rice with egg, oyster sauce, passion fruit & rocoto sauce. The portion is huge and we split this dish. The first bite was mind blowing and the egg was perfectly cook. This is a must order! Overall, gift card or not, we will be back! We are excited to bring our friends and try other parts of the menu. Stopped by last night on our way back from watching the Formula E race at PIR. Got good reviews on Yelp, so thought we would try it. Again, the reviews have nailed it. Five stars for food, atmosphere and service. My wife and I had the Classic Pisco Sour, which was amazing. Our friends had the Pinot Noir and said it was really good. We split the Aji de Gallina because other reviews said it was large enough to split. Not quite. It was enough, but really not quite splittable. It had really good flavor, but was mild. Our friends had the Ceviche de Pescado and he really enjoyed it. And she had the Arroz Chaufa and enjoyed it as well. She let us taste hers and I think we liked it better than the Gallina. Next time. Hers and his both could be splittable. We sat on the patio which was perfect. Great atmosphere and very nice ambiance. Our server was helpful, friendly and attentive. The recipe for a 5 Star review is pretty simple -it's a mix of stellar food and beverages , good service and cute ambience and Casa Zoraya nails all of them and then some . I came in thinking that I wont be very impressed with the Peruvian food here but boy was I wrong ! Everything and I mean everything I tasted blew my expectations out the park . There was a slight wait (20ish minutes) which I found annoying because I could see at least 50% of the tables empty but they just wont seat us .Maybe standing customers at the door makes the curb appeal better ?? who knows !! Anyways we were eventually seated at there outdoor patio and it had a very cute vibe . I would have preferred a little bit of heating because the evening was chilly but I saw no heaters in sight . The menu is not very long but has some really good options. We had - Passionfruit Pisco Sour- This was my favorite drink in Peru and casa zoraya indeed made it well ! Highly recommend Classic Pisco Sour Cocktail - Classic and very light , another must try here. Chilcajito Cocktail - This is like a mojito mixed with a Moscow Mule .I love all things ginger and lemon so this was a good cocktail for me El Capital Papa Rellena - Fried balls of potato, sirloin, carrot, sweet peas, eggs that come with huancaynas sauce. What a delightful place! The staff was among the most friendly and welcoming/helpful in recent memory. Every dish we ordered was excellent, and I enjoyed my "pisco manhattan" The veggie empanadas, ceviche, chicharrones and picante hongos (mushroom entree) were so flavorful and delicious. This is one of those places that you'll be thinking about for a while. It was a bit of a trek from our neighborhood but was absolutely worth the trip. The reason we were here tonight is because I wanted my boyfriend to try Casa Zoraya's amazing pork belly dish. He and I share the love of juicy tender pork belly, so I had to take him here because it was out of this world good! So I made a reservation in advance, and we arrived right on time. We got seated in the whimsical back-patio garden seating area, and everything seemed very promising. Because I already knew what I wanted, we quickly ordered a ensalada verde, a Pisco sour, the Ahi De Galllina (chicken) and Arroz Chaufa (pork belly) to share. The salad and the drink came first. Both were flavorful and enjoyable. After enjoying our shared salad-starter and a cocktail in the nice ambiance of the back patio, I was really excited for the entrees. Unfortunately, that's when things went downhill. I don't know whether its because we made a reservation near closing time or something unexpected happened to our food, but something was not right. Long story short, the two main entrees were very disappointing. First, my Arroz Chaufa AKA the pork belly dish. This time, It was so disappointing I felt deflated because I was excited to order it. The presentation looked nice, but right away I noticed something was different with the pork belly. The taste, the cut, and the texture were all off. It didn't come as plump and juicy as it did the last time that I was here. The pieces were very thin and dry. The other thing that was off was the seasoning of the rice and egg underneath the meat. After a few bites, I realized that it was way beyond a little salty. As we ate more of the egg and rice, we both needed more water and I just cannot imagine that this amount of "savory" was intentional. It had to be kitchen error. For my boyfriend's Ahi De Gallina (shredded chicken), he said it tasted bland and reminded him of canned cream of chicken and mushroom soup poured over cooked chicken. He didn't think it met the standard of a well-regarded local restaurant. I gave it a taste, and I agreed that it did taste like something you would make at home when you didn't feel like going to the store. I am not sure how a dish that was so good (just a few weeks ago) which brought me back to the restaurant, became a dish so bad that made me never want to return. I honestly don't know! The server was friendly and ask how the food was. I was still a little perplexed with the experience being so different than the last time I came in, that I didn't know what to say, so I didn't say anything. Overall.
