If there's a family with kids I highly suggest sitting outside. Terrible acoustics, good God tonight's experience was painful. They employ the entitled money-grab trend of an automatic 20% tip. Consumers are beginning to abhor this assumptive practice and the illogic of it all. The homemade lemonade was refreshing on a hot Summer evening. Shrimp Donuts were creative and delicious, but not a good value. Eggplant was decent, but small portion. The big miss was the side of steamed vegetables. Basically a small bowl of cabbage with some broccoli pieces. The standout winner was the curry dumplings. Be sure to add rice (sadly, a silly surcharge) to mop up the curry. Small restaurant with some inside seating and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor because it was really nice out and it was perfect. Lots of street watching and people gazing! Staff were very kind and attentive. Repeated our order back to us to be sure they got everything and delivered with promptness. Just an FYI they do add a 20% gratuity to the check. They do state that on the menu. The menu has lots of options plenty of appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes and some desserts. They also have a fabulous array of cocktails and beers. We got one of the cocktails and a Sapporo they were fabulous. My wife had the shrimp donuts and raved about them. I am allergic and did not try. I had the chicken bao buns and they were absolutely wonderful. I also tried the angel wings. The flavor was great however they were probably one of the stickiest things I have ever eaten! Really did stick to my teeth of course after it was not as hot and started to gel a bit. Was not a fan of that. My wife got the koi soy and said it was very very good. Pretty close to our house, in and out in an hour, and very good food. Positive we will return very soon. Street parking in that area can be tricky for sure. read more

There was nice outside seating but we decided to sit inside. We started with drinks. My friend ordered the cherry blossom lemonade. It came in a very pretty cup. I think they use cherry blossom syrup since they told them to stir it up thoroughly. It wasn't sweet, had a nice cherry blossom light tart flavor. Our food came out quickly. I got the pad Thai with tofu. The first few bites were fine but as I kept eating it, the tang got stronger and stronger and not as enjoyable to eat. It was missing some sweetness. I didn't eat half of the dish. The panang curry katsu wasn't too bad. The curry was very runny and the flavor wasn't that strong. The katsu was nice and crispy though. read more

What a bummer! I live in the neighborhood and was out running errands and thought I'd give this place a try. I went to order online and noticed they had a $4.5 fee to order online so just decided to go there and place my order. Turns out ordering takeout there has an even higher fee and they automatically add a 20% gratuity on top of the take out fee. I always tip at least 20% but give a girl the option. What a scam! We visited on a Saturday night and I was glad we had reservations because it was packed. It is a small place so I'd make a reservation if possible. It was a cozy and bright space and I was optimistic about dinner. We were seated quickly and service was attentive. We had beers and the shrimp donuts to start followed by pad see ew and the panang curry. Everything, especially the pad see ew was delicious. So I leave this one star review not because of the food or the service the food was wonderful and the service was great but as a professional chef, I find it very rude and insulting that you automatically put a 20% gratuity tip on a bill to anyone that walks through the door. It's not like I had an extra large party or anything like that. Say automatically giving yourself a large tip is like patting yourself on the back and saying that you deserved it no matter what I think, but I understand this younger generation comes from the participation trophy era where they feel their entitled to everything they haven't earned and don't deserve but a tip is for me to let you know how I thought of your performance how I thought of the flavor quality and taste of your food or performance and you automatically adding a tip I find very insulting and rude. I mean if you want to charge more just charge more but deciding what I tip you it's like rewarding yourself and that's what a tip is for me to do to decide how much I am to reward you and what you're worth was to me granted the food was great here. The service was good and I probably would've left an even larger tip as a matter of fact, I know I would've because before I realized that they added an automatic 20% to the bill I was telling my wife how this was one of those places I rarely make an attempt to give the chef a personal cash tip directly to him because I'm a chef, and when I recognize very little of a tip goes to the back of the house and from one chef to another, it's a way to say I really really appreciate this and your food was amazing but as a professional chef for over 35 years in the industry, I found this very rude very insulting and I probably will never go back to this restaurant even though I enjoyed my experience very much. Fresh, authenticate ingredients and preparation resulted in spectacular dishes! From the fresh spring rolls to pad Thai to pad se eww, delicious. The "crepe" dessert was spectacular but the banana options looked delectible, too. The server was gracious and prompt. She told me what music was streaming (it was lovely for dinner). We're in SW Portland, but made the drive to check this place out based on their well-deserved and outstanding reviews. The place has a lot of charm and the service was very attentive and friendly. The food was incredible too. I had the Chicken Katsu Curry (Panang). The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy on the inside...perfectly brown and crispy on the outside. It came with a generous portion of rice. While the curry was flavorful and delicious, my minor nit would be that it were a little more plentiful to match the rice serving. And I like my curry on the thicker than watery side. Still, overall fantastic. My girlfriend had the Pad Se-ew and honestly, this was the star of the show. The flavors perfectly harmonized with one another and we learned that they make their own noodles, fresh. That clearly makes a huge difference. We were both very impressed. We will 10/10 return again. This place is a true gem, but I'll leave just one other minor nit...the bench seating is nice, but the pillows were not that comfortable. I would have preferred they lined the benches with long memory foam filled, lounger-style pillows. read more
