Vanderbilt Hotel (San Juan/Condado, PR), out did themselves throughout the week we spend our vacation in their accomodations (Dec. 14-19, 2025)! Their seasonal plates in the 1919 restaurant are amazing and also their service. Their food is really good and the quality of their ingredients were fenomenal. We follow the recommendations of the rest. Main Server regarding drinks, starters, main courses and deserts; we're on point. My wife & I have been extremely busy throughout these past months and we decided to do a mini-escape from Atlanta to Puerto Rico. We love the food and service of the 1919 Restaurant but, were we felt really at home was in the Hola Ocean Front restaurant. We felt at home with the atmosphere but, what really took us back was their service. Their service, their people (specially Ruben Quiñones) is what it makes this rest. and experience an outstanding gastronomical experience! Ruben's service was beyond AMAZING, super attentive, quick and efficient. The whole staff make sure your experience is an amazing one but Ruben was above & beyond! For sure, if you are having a sit down dinner; definitely request Ruben. I'.m not sure how long he has been in the service industry but, we could tell he has been taking care people very well for some time. His service is superb and his personality makes you feel like you know him from many years ago. We also had an amazing and relaxing time in the AVO Cigar Lounge. One of the best cigar lounges we have ever visited in our lifetime. And that's comparing from cigar lounges in the United States and around the world. Beautiful decor, amazing atmosphere, and the very best of cigar selection. But what it makes to cigar lounge the best, was their service! Miguel Padilla and Adriana were the greatest servers/hostess any cigar aficionado can ask. This duo made us feel super special and relax. Miguel and Adriana make us feel like we were the only two people in the lounge the whole week. They were simply the best! Waited 2 hours for my room for them to tell me I have to wait online in the lobby at 6pm. They would rather serve their colonists I see. I hope they get anll annd everything they deserve. I will not have a thought about it. Not hospitable at all, felt like a second class citizen. For the amount of money spent in this hotel you would expect to be treated better. The Vanderbilt is an historic hotel. Originally built at the beginning of the 20th century, it has undergone many renovations and was restored to its former glory about 10 years ago. The decor of the lobby is warm, rich, and elegant. The staff is always willing to help. Our rooms had balconies with city views. They were fine, but considering the price I thought they could be a bit nicer. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower, but not much counter space. Snacks are complimentary and we ordered our fair share of chocolate bars! In order to use the fridge, you will have to take out all of the mini bar beverages. The main pool is lovely. It is located on the second floor, so the chaises look right over the ocean. All of the beaches in Puerto Rico are public. The hotel has chairs and towels available on a small part of Condado Beach. On that side of the hotel you will also find the small adult pool and jacuzzi. The hotel has several restaurants, including STK. We only ate at the restaurant near the pool when we arrived. The restaurant was good but it was a pricey lunch. Everything at the Vanderbilt will be pricier than most other places, including the spa and even cocktails. There is no casino on the premises, but you can walk a block to the the La Concha, a Marriott managed hotel that has a lot going on as opposed to the more refined Vanderbilt. It simply feels like luxury! And when you're greeted with champagne upon check-in, you certainly feel like royalty. Spacious. Beautiful views. We had a not-so-mini fridge that had drinks stocked and I still had room to add the fruits and water I brought with us. The staff show great attention to your needs. If you are staying in San Juan before a cruise or even to visit for a short stay we really liked this hotel. The lobby and common areas definitely need updating but once we were in our 2-BR suite with the family we were very happy. Large and comfortable living space. Modern baths with white marble. Two balconies overlooking the water, and we received a $250 resort credit from Amex Travel PLUS free breakfast for 4. Hungry after our long trip we ordered a huge room service lunch with lots of leftovers and we somehow still had $100 leftover to spend which we won't be able to do in our short time here. This never happens. Great lighting. And stocked free minibar were all pluses. read more

I left 2 designer belts on the top shelf of my closet forgot them when I checked out and when I called later that evening was told lost and found doesn't get logged until late at night (I found out that was a lie) there was no new guest in my room and the throw pillow that would be on the made bed was suspiciously where the missing belts were. There are no cameras in the hallways either. Needless to say my belts were stolen by employees of the hotel and I had to continue to follow up with them. They didn't offer or want to do anything to make it right. read more

STOLEN!!!!!!!!So my boyfriend's Gucci and LV belt were stolen from the staff. Police reports, manager, security, front desk and bellman interactions regarding this situation. I wouldn't write this but they won't even give money back for the $700 plus a night stay so he can do his insurance claim. What type of people do you have working there that you can't feel safe in at a hotel charging $700 plus taxes/ resort fees a night. Thank god the next day it was $1300 plus fees a night and we left. Can you imagine what else they would have taken. It's old... needs remodeling to be charging that. Besides the theft prior to that we were treated well till this incident occurred and it seems to be that this is a reoccurring problem how they handled it. There was no misplacement. I recently had the pleasure of staying at this property, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming, champagne and water in hand while checking in and making check-in stress-free. The lobby was beautifully designed with a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy warmth. My room was spectacular. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with high-quality linens that made it hard to leave each morning. The view from the window was stunning, and I appreciated the attention to detail. Every amenity, from the luxurious toiletries to the high-end coffee machine, was thoughtfully put into place to make the stay as relaxing and convenient as possible. The hotel's facilities were top-notch as well. I took full advantage of the gym, pool and the restaurant, plus both cigar and liquor bar , offered delicious meals and cocktails. The staff was attentive and always went above and beyond to ensure every need was met. What truly set this hotel apart was its service. The team consistently exceeded my expectations, always with a smile and a willingness to help.My only draw down was that it's located so perfectly in Condado, but the property doesn't have a beach right behind it. The waves are crazy big saw some surfers out my window maybe that's the reason why. If you're looking for a memorable, relaxing stay with exceptional service and comfort, The condado Vanderbilt is the place to be. I'll definitely be going back soon but after Bad Bunny's concerts because the island will be erupting with tourist from around the globe. read more

I must admit, I rarely write reviews. But I thought this story would be important for those making the decision of where to stay in San Juan. Upon check in, we arrived at our room to find a large rumbling and ticking noise from a maintenance closet inside of the room. It was locked, but presumably held the AC unit for the room. Whatever it was produced a loud rattling noise that prevented us from sleeping. That evening I went to the front desk to ask if they could just send up a mechanic to take a look. They replied that a mechanic couldn't come until the next day so they offered to change our room and have a bellman pick up our luggage. It took fifty minutes for the bellman to come by to pick up our luggage. Five minute walk to the lobby, but it took fifty minutes for the bellman. Upon checking into our new room past 10pm, we noticed another loud rumbling noise. Too tired, we just chose to go to sleep. Presumably, now on a higher floor, from building related machines in the adjacent floor or roof. But the next morning, I turned on the bathroom faucet to find that the pipes underneath the sink were cracked and were literally flooding the bathroom with water. I went back to the lobby to notify them and show them a video of the flooding. (I attached photo evidence below, video on Google Reviews.) Looking to be collaborative, I asked if we could just return to the original room to avoid the flooding. They notified me that the room had already been booked again, by 7am. This indicated that they never intended on fixing the issue in the prior room, but simply rebooked it immediately after I left it. They proceeded to give me keys to yet another room to move to, without a single apology, discount, even an offer of anything to improve our experience. This meant in a period of 12 hours, I now had 3 different room keys. The hotel itself looks very nice. It has a very upscale lobby, fitness center. But especially at this hotel's high price point, to have such poor service, and multiple glaring room issues, I would recommend avoiding this establishment entirely. read more

Worse, they overcharged. For example, for a cocktail when all we had was juice. They overcharged at check out too. Lots of apologies when I complained, but our room continued to be uncleaned and under-supplied. Instead the manager sent a bottle of inexpensive champagne to our (still dirty) room. This place sounds like paradise! The ocean views are stunning, and the staff are wonderful. The location and ambiance are top-notch, but the buffet could use some fresh fruit and flavor boosts. This is a true 5-star hotel in the best location for San Juan/Condado vacations! The resort property and staff service were truly luxurious and rank among the best resorts and hotels I've ever stayed in. If you've seen photos you know the decor and architecture truly transport you to a vintage Caribbean experience. The pools were incredible and a local beach was a short walk away. The rooms were clean and the staff were incredibly thoughtful, always looking for ways to spoil us or amplify our trip. Throughout our stay we were able to sample all of the finest restaurants in SJ as well as the local Criollo spots with the best authentic PR staples. We were also lucky enough to book incredible massages at their luxurious spa which could take up a whole day if you're not careful. The breakfasts at Ola were consistently great, the drinks at the mojito bar were awesome (coming from a Master Rum sommelier) and the service kept us shaking our heads thinking how we could stay anywhere else? I also want to take this time to recognize the Manager Pablo for assisting us with poise and authority, Francisco for his incredible dining and cocktail bar recommendations, Ms Falcon & Hernandez for being incredible breakfast hosts, Mei Lynn for her assistance on our last day, and Manuel & Ana for keeping the party at the pool rockin' with great music and drinks, & exceptional service. Not Worth the Hype! I stayed at El Condado Vanderbilt 6/25-6/30 with my daughter. Housekeeping skipped our room for 3 days--no cleaning, no fresh towels, no trash removal--despite repeated requests and a complaint to the manager. I was told they were short-staffed, yet new guests kept arriving. To top it off, I was wrongly charged $360 for bar drinks I never ordered. I don't drink alcohol. After disputing it, I was finally refunded, but the stress and poor service ruined the experience. Won't be coming back. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel in Puerto Rico for our anniversary in March 2025. Having had previous positive experiences, we expected the same level of excellence--but were instead deeply disappointed and disrespected. On March 29, we returned to our room around 4:30 PM to find it had not been serviced. A nearby housekeeping staff member appeared to be on a personal phone call. When my wife commented (in English) that we should call guest services to inquire, the staff member soon approached and, believing we didn't understand Spanish, unleashed a string of profanities directly referring to my wife. This behavior was not only unprofessional--it was offensive and completely unacceptable. We escalated the issue to hotel supervisor Torres and requested to meet with the Director of Operations, Mr. Juan Carlo Velázquez. Despite several attempts to connect with him, including providing our contact information and visiting the front desk, he made minimal effort to engage with us. When we finally met, he was dismissive and refused to share how the matter was being handled. His parting words were: "That's handled in-house--you needn't worry about it." We returned the champagne, hotel credit, and apology note left in our room. We were not looking for compensation--we were looking for accountability and respect. The way this was handled, especially by hotel leadership, does not reflect the standards of a luxury hotel. Shower door would not close causing bathroom flooding. Two repair requests were not fulfilled during 6 day stay. Inside drawers were very dirty. Hangers were too chipped to chance hanging my blouses. Glass walls were smeared with unknown substance. The pool and beach was nice. Poolside and beachside service was not on point. It seemed the entire hotel lacked employees. Every employee encountered was very nice. Morning room service was very good. Good location. Easy walking distance to bars and restaurants. Overpriced for a listed 5star hotel. 4star at best. read more

This is probably by far the best hotel I've stayed in. From the location to the service. Everyone at the hotel was SUPER FRIENDLY. Everyone is so helpful with a smile on everyday. From the front desk to the pool staff to the room service. Vanderbilt hotel is an awesome location that is close to literally everything. From old San Juan to the airport. Everything is pretty much walking distance or you can take an Uber for less than $5! I highly recommend this place to everyone. It does get a little expensive if you're use to all inclusive resorts. So if you're a budget person, keep that in mind! My only complaint is the prices for their drink is ridiculous lol almost $20 for a mixed drink with barely any alcohol lol save your money and go across the street to get a bottle and make your own drink. You'll save a ton of money that way. read more

Stayed at this hotel for a 3 night/4 day trip for a bachelorette recently. Pros: - receive complimentary champagne upon arrival -A/C works great, shower has great pressure, and the bathroom looks great The staff is really nice. They accommodated us when the maid of honor wanted to decorate the bride-to- be's hotel room. - The lobby is gorgeous and smells amazing like there's a constant perfume in the air - The housekeeper organized my roommate & I's toiletries and shoes and tied our cable cords all neatly - personal pools and jacuzzi with concierge service until 7pm - the pool is open until midnight (they give you towels, after sun gel, spf 30 sunscreen, & hand sanitizer - located near a lot of food places (Starbucks, waffles Avenue, Ben & Jerry's, etc ) Staff constantly open the door for you when you're coming and going Cons: - cocktails at the bar were pricey, $23.50 for 1 mojito - No microwaves in room, and you can only access the community microwave during operation hours of the bistro - mini fridge is too stocked with drinks that you are charged for if you drink, and there's no room to put any leftovers you may have -no ceiling light in main area so the room is dark at night Overall I'd still recommend booking this San juan Hotel. It had a luxurious vibe to it. But keep in mind it is pricey. read more

I don't even remember what these drinks were, but this was just a quick nightcap before we headed back to our hotel. Absolutely delicious, so good and so flavorful. Just a glass of it did the trick before we were finally told that we had to close out our tab due to the last call. But one of the most fondest memories I had in Puerto Rico, was just hanging with my friends here, laughing and chitchatting. Taking pictures and just marveling at the beauty of the decorum that was laid and not downstairs area where the bars are. I'm certainly coming back without a doubt if I ever return to Puerto Rico again. But it was absolutely delicious and just like absolute great time. read more
