Stayed at Casa Loma to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation. She wanted to stay in Laguna Beach. We usually stay at a Hilton brand hotel, there weren't any on the beach. I researched every hotel I could find that was within walking distance to the beach in Laguna. I was not sure what to expect since reviews were a little inconsistent. I was very impressed by the ambiance of this hotel! It's gorgeous! It's warm, tropical and beachy. Very unlike a chain hotel. There were a lot of beautiful details that made the hotel unique. The bed was very comfortable too. Our room had direct access to the pool and that was a nice feature. Other reviews mention the high cost, I agree, it was costly with additional fees. However it's not an economy hotel. It's directly on the beach and I expected to pay a premium rate because of that. A welcome note and fruit were left in the room upon arrival. The staff were great, Sam checked us in and he was very sweet. There was another young man with long hair that was also very kind (I didn't get his name, he gave great direction on some local shopping). So I said well we are showering now please come 4:30 ok 5min. later knock on our door I said we are showering please come back 4:30 ok same thing the next day but this time no one came to clean in fact they put the do not disturb sign on our door !!!! I also gave them a heads up we were leaving the next day 4am so if they wanted to clean the room we would be gone so they can get someone in for early ck in ! When we got back to our room I was shocked about the Do Not Disturb On Door Crazy went down to the desk they said they would tell head of house keeping ! As others have stated, for the price point this is unfortunately not a place I'd stay at or recommend. Pros - 100% the location. Lovely ocean view and can hear the rolling waves with the sliding door open. You can easily walk to the main street and beach front. - Comfy beds - Clean rooms & cute california style throughout lobby and rooms - Check in woman was very friendly, and explained everything about our stay - Welcome drinks - Pet friendly ! Cons - Our room was not serviced for our 2 night stay. We removed our dnd sign from 11-3 and no one came. For $600 a night this is wild to me that our mats were still wet and no coffee refilled, I didn't see the cleaning staff once throughout our stay. - There is no true restaurant at this hotel. Bites and drinks but no substantial meals. Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get. read more

The location is exceptional, perched above the north end of Main Beach with the ocean immediately below and downtown Laguna's restaurants, galleries, and shops just a short walk away. It was a terrific value when we stayed, and the recent transformation into Casa Loma looks like it has given the property a much more refined, design-forward coastal character without losing what made the setting so special. I'm sure it's even better now, and it remains one of the most appealing places to stay if you want to experience Laguna on foot and right by the water. read more

The location of this hotel is great being that it's within walking distance to many attractions, and the view from the room was beautiful. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing in several areas. The room was not very clean when we arrived. We found leftover drinks and cups that had been squeezed and stuffed inside the safe, and the air vents were noticeably dirty, which caused us to sneeze throughout our stay. Pool service was also difficult to find, and it seemed like the hotel could really benefit from having more staff. Additionally, the elevator made a very loud and disturbing noise every time the doors opened and closed, which was concerning. Overall, the location and views are definitely highlights, but the cleanliness, maintenance, and service need significant improvement. read more

Overall this hotel has such potential due to beautiful views and truly an amazing location making it easy to walk and explore but really needs major help. I wish they would put more money into maintaining the rooms since we were paying $700 a night it just didn't seem worth it to us, felt like a hotel that should've been half the price if that. We had a wonderful stay at Casa Loma. The hotel's vibe is chill, relaxed, and comfortable. You can enjoy a beautiful ocean/beach view from the balconies, lobby, and roof deck. The staff was friendly and attentive. The location is amazing - it's a short walk to downtown Laguna Beach for restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, and shops. You can take the beach path on the ocean side of the hotel (there are a lot of stairs) or take the sidewalk on the street side of the hotel. We stayed in the Sunset Suite on the 5th (top) floor. The view from the room and balcony was incredible, especially at sunset. The room was very nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. The bed, pillows, and towels were perfect and felt very luxurious. The cleaning staff did an exceptional job - everything was spotless and nicely tidied up. read more

Nicely remodeled hotel in a great location. The beach is at your doorstep. The service is friendly as we were warmly welcomed. The rooms are clean and spacious. The king size bed is great - firm mattress, great pillows (they aren't soft that they don't offer any support). The shower amenities are so good ... love the Debaser DS and Durga soaps. The location is also steps from downtown - tons of restaurants and shops all in walking /strolling distance. There were a few gaps between their website and what they offer. They no longer have a daily happy hour, but there is a welcome cocktail (you just may have to ask for it). There is a cookie happy hour from 6-7. The website mentions they are vegan, but the chocolate chip cookies are not. They are fresh and warm and so, so, so good. Grab one when they are warm and enjoy! It is an expensive place and parking overnight is a lot (per the other yelp reviews). I think the cost vs benefit of location is an important factor. We ate at restaurants that we could walk to and those were really affordable (sometimes shocking so, at least compared to Silicon Valley prices). read more

Fantastic location, right in town near Main Beach and all the great restaurants. They are so nice at the front desk and by the pool they gave us frozen grapes. They also lent us umbrellas to go to the beach. The only surprise was that they charged $70 for parking which seemed quite stiff $70 a day which when we were there last year, we don't remember that charge being there but other than that it was a great experience. read more

Disappointing Stay - Not Worth the Hype Casa Lola looks charming online, but the reality is far less serene. There's very little privacy -- thin walls and shared spaces make it feel more like a hostel than a boutique hotel. The property is noisy, both from street traffic and other guests. The staff was nice but our room was right in front of the pool so we had to draw the shades, allowing no natural light in. The AC is very loud when it kicks in. Didn't feel safe sleeping with door open as anyone could jump the pool wall and enter, public walkway is right behind the pool. The entrance is odd, there was no where to park when arriving. And it wasn't clear where to park. Parking was $75 a night with no valet. It has potential but it's not worth it. read more

We hosted our wedding weekend at Casa Loma Beach Hotel recently, and it exceeded every expectation. With guests flying in from across the country and around the world, we heard nonstop praise about how cozy, elegant, and effortlessly chic the hotel felt. The staff was incredibly accommodating--helping with portering, clear communication, and even a few lost-and-found rescues (thank you Amber!). Allene and Elisa were standout stars throughout the weekend helping us host several events at the hotel over three days. When a once-in-a-blue-moon monsoon forced us to pivot from our planned rooftop events, the Casa Loma team handled the change with grace and creativity, preserving the overall vibe we envisioned. Guests--both locals and out-of-towners--couldn't stop raving about the views and the unbeatable location. Some spent time in the cute nooks and crannies throughout the hotel or relaxed on their balconies with those unmatched ocean views (when the rain finally let up), while others wandered over to Marine Room for late-night drinks thanks to the perfect location. And of course, the food via Sapphire was amazing! We were able to check off all our boxes when it came to cuisine and transport our guests to all ends of the earth with food from the Mediterranean, Malaysia, and South America. The Late Night Bites of sliders, fries and chicken tenders were crowd MVPs at our Afters. We're already looking forward to visiting Casa Loma for our first anniversary. The only reason to stay at Casa Loma Beach Hotel is the location. We had reserved a block of rooms for my daughter's wedding . when I arrived, most of the room reservations were missing. After talking with the manager on duty, he stated there was nothing he could do other than reach out to the person that puts together group stays. He said he was going to do that first thing in the morning and reach out to me after he heard from her. when noon came around, I return to see that manager I was told he was unavailable to see me. I again returned to speak to that same manager, who told me that he would reach out again to the person that deals with group reservations he told me that he would give me a call after he heard back via email. I told him at that time that I was going to wait in the lobby until that happened at that time, he walked upstairs one flight where lo and behold the person I was needing to talk to was available and came down . She stated that there was a misunderstanding in the contract and that she would take care of the missing reservations, which she did, but by this time I was beside myself. Keeping track of my bank account. I realized that I was being charged for things that shouldn't have been on my bill. I had to on three different occasions three different days go down to the lobby to adjust my bill even then the day we left and reviewed our bill it was still was not correct. Ugh ! As far as the room, the view was beautiful, but there is absolutely no storage, no Dresser no drawers in the nightstand and the closet can hold maybe 10 things. we lived out of our suitcases in our small room for six days ridiculous!!! I stayed at Casa Loma Laguna Beach for my birthday with my boyfriend, and it ended up being one of those trips we'll both remember for a long time! From the second we arrived, everything just felt easy and welcoming, no pretense, just a really warm and genuine vibe. Our room was beautiful in that coastal style that doesn't try too hard, and we found ourselves at various moments just absorbing the atmosphere, having coffee in the morning, sitting and talking longer than usual, and just enjoying the quiet view. One of my favorite moments was watching the gorgeous pacific coast sunset together from the property. It feels like the hotel is designed to help you slow down and actually be present. The service throughout our stay was thoughtful but never over the top, and the whole hotel has this calm energy that made it perfect for an intimate birthday that wasn't about having a big bash, but more so being somewhere beautiful with someone I love. This hotel has an incredible location--right by the beach and walking distance to a charming town--and a genuinely cool vibe. There are even thoughtful touches like the cookies that make you think you've found a great spot. Unfortunately, the experience fell so far short that I would not stay here again. I travel frequently (for decades, often 80% of the time), and this was one of the most bizarre and poorly managed hotel experiences I've had. When we arrived, I asked if there was any way to check in slightly early (around 3:00-3:30) so my daughter could get ready for senior photos. We got into the room at 3:45--disappointing, but check-in is 4:00, so that wasn't a major issue. What followed was. On our first day, I overheard one guest telling another that her belongings had been stolen from the pool earlier in the week and that there were ongoing issues with towels and keeping the area reset. That turned out to be completely accurate. The next day, after a morning event ended around 10:00, the pool was still not reset by 2:00. No chairs. No towels. Multiple guests asked repeatedly. People were going back to their rooms to grab bath towels just to sit by the pool. It wasn't overcrowded--it simply hadn't been handled. Staff were polite but completely ineffective. Guests were told "soon" over and over again. One guest said he asked three separate times over more than two hours before finally getting a towel--only after staff eventually decided to bring them out. The entire pool was reset by 2:30, which makes it clear the issue wasn't time--it was prioritization. At the same time, there were two employees walking around handing out menus. One could have easily handled that while the other addressed the actual problem. It felt like no one was thinking about the guest experience. That same day, after overhearing the earlier conversation, we had an even more concerning experience in the parking lot. A guest had parked in the middle of the lot, completely blocking the ability to turn around. When our Uber driver politely asked him to move a few feet, he refused and said we'd have to wait until his phone call was over--and that it might be a long call. It was clear he was enjoying being difficult. That part is not on the hotel. What is on the hotel is how it was handled. A staff member came out and never addressed the guest who was parked improperly. Instead, he directed our Uber driver to back into a very tight space between cars and spoke to her in a way that was belittling and, at times, felt like he was yelling instructions. When she expressed concern about hitting a car--or even him--he dismissed her concerns. For context, she was around five feet tall. Shorter drivers have more limited visibility and larger blind spots, especially in tight spaces. I often drive in New York City and Chicago--both challenging driving environments--and there is no way I would have attempted that maneuver. Her concerns were completely valid. The space was extremely tight, and the expectation that she should back into it while being spoken to that way was unreasonable. This delay caused us to miss my daughter's scheduled senior photos, which had to be rescheduled the next day--completely disrupting our plans. After finally getting some time to relax at the pool (once chairs and towels were eventually brought out), we returned to our room to find it covered in ants. We had no food in the room--they were coming up through the sink area. We reported it and left for four hours, asking them to handle it. When we returned, nothing had been done. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there wasn't one on duty. I asked them to call one, given how unacceptable the situation had become, and was told they would not put me in touch with a manager and would instead "send someone up again." At that point, the issue had already been reported hours earlier with no action taken. That response was honestly shocking. I believe the staff are likely good people with good intentions--but they are not being supported, trained, or managed in a way that prioritizes the guest experience. There seems to be a consistent breakdown in communication, accountability, and decision-making. At this price point (around $600/night), these are not minor issues--they fundamentally impact the experience. This hotel has everything it needs to be amazing: location, atmosphere, and potential. But until management improves and the team is trained to think through the guest experience--"what would matter to me if I were the guest?"--it falls very short. If you prioritize service, consistency, and basic operational competence, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere. If you're willing to overlook those things for location alone, that's the only reason to consider it. read more

Suite 507 beautiful views, wrap-around deck separate bathtub and shower, It has a traditional record player, there's a little wet bar and refrigerator. Nice comfortable bed just need some drawers to put in clothes instead of open shelving. Also have to be careful of the bed frame itself. The wood portion of it is about 2 inches from to the floor so when you get close with your foot, you could stub your toes (which I've already done twice). The food is delicious, although it is a limited menu. Everything has just been really wonderful here. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It has underground parking that makes it easy to get to the rooms via elevator. read more

We flew in for the night from Florida for Mom's funeral. My sister's house was full with her 3 children, Mom's house is devoid of furniture and on the market, so, not wanting to be alone, I asked my cousin where she and her mom (Mom's sister) were staying. They said Casa Loma because of the view of the beach. Yes, the estate was paying for my room, but, I still did not want to be extravagant so I booked the least expensive room available. Right behind the wall of the top parking deck by the lobby entrance. Very convenient! They also were gracious enough to allow me to check in early! A huge blessing! Front desk staff was friendly and offered genuine, warm, condolences. The room was newly renovated, clean and the bed was comfy. After dinner, my cousin joined us in the hot tub which is easily one of the best hot tubs I have ever been in! After a restful sleep, we awoke to appreciate all the eco-friendly touches. The shower is beautiful with a short stool in the corner, and the provided shampoo, conditioner, and bar soap smelled nice. The water pressure was definitely "Cal-eco-friendly". Yes, it rinses you off, but, if you have issues getting all the soap out of your hair, I would recommend going to a local salon. The low-wattage bulbs in the room provided soothing light, but I would not recommend packing too many dark colored items because it might be hard to find what you are looking for. The picture window overlooking the walkway had a lovely curtain over it for privacy, yet still let in enough natural light to do your make up. We did not get much chance to explore all the hotel had to offer, but they are lovely people there and I highly recommend it if you can afford it. read more

We loved our stay at Casa La Loma! The location could not be better, just steps from the beach. Everything felt clean, new, and upscale, and the fresh cookies were a great touch. It felt very worth the money! Our only small hiccups were with the in-room tech. The Google Home did not connect to the TV, and while the hotel kindly offered to comp a movie, that function unfortunately was not working either. The other thing was that while the amenities are wonderful (beach towels, umbrella, rooftop lounge, lobby cookies, etc.), they were not really offered upfront. We had to ask about them, and honestly we would not have known they existed if we had not done our research, called ahead, and asked questions. Without that, our experience could have been very different. That being said, every amenity we used was excellent and added to the value of our stay. My husband and I have a long history with this hotel... or shall I say, The Inn at Laguna Beach, the former resident of this location. That said, it is by far my favorite location in Laguna Beach, now having stayed at several. I have noticed that many of the negative reviews come from the period of construction and renovation which was almost finished during out stay in late August 2024. As far as the location, it is along the main beach, a lovely walkway along the cliffs, steps from many restaurants, galleries and shops, and a 15 minute walk from The Pageant of the Masters. Truly,, it cannot get any better than that. This is really a small boutique hotel. I really like how the remodel worked with the style and charm of the original hotel. The hotel, which had always been quite charming, now has a fresh, mid-century modern look. Our room had stunning views of the ocean and overlooked the small pool area. I liked the retro speaker, the working rotary phone, the nice in-room cocktail glasses and cocktail shaker, as well as the working fridge stocked with fresh creamer for coffee, and complimentary water. The hotel itself, doesn't have a lot of space for amenities, as it is quite small, with no restaurant on premises. They do have a small bar, that is not fully set up yet. There, however, they do a wine and cookie reception from 5-6 each evening. We went the first evening and they had a nice selection. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the. hour. In the morning, the bar area became a coffee and tea bar. Staff was very friendly. The pool area is small, but quaint. They have a small pool and a jacuzzi. I noticed that it had not changed from the Inn at Laguna Beach, except for maybe some added seating. Anyway, my husband and I decided to go to the hotel bar and ask to buy some wine in plastic cups to take to the poll. The staff member asked us to wait and then brought us back a couple of complimentary glasses to take with us. I imagine it is probably because the bar and the register were not set up yet, but it was a nice gesture. My only issues were with our room. First, because of the size, there was a very small closet area and a few small shelves, but nowhere else to put things like clothing or shoes away. I think that the dressers and drawers might take away from the style they are going for, but a little more storage would be helpful. Also, I noticed a few hairs under the closet and again near the shower. For some, they would have complained and asked to change rooms. For me, it was certainly not what I wanted to see, but it was minor, and I hope they pay more attention to cleaning. However, aside from that, the room did appear very clean. All in all, it was nice to be back in our favorite location. I think the remodel is quite lovely. I hope they keep some of the throwbacks to the former Inn. My daughter and I have stayed here three times under the Inn at Laguna Beach brand. It is obviously pricey, and I meticulously watched dates and rates to get the most "affordable" price. The one thing that made the resort fee worth it was the rooftop complimentary wine hour and amazing view while enjoying the vibe. This was the highlight for us of each trip and a core memory for us as mother and daughter. We were looking forward to our next visit after the renovations. But now, not only have room rates become so insanely ridiculous that I don't know if we can afford to ever come back, but the resort fee I think is higher and they took away the wine hour??? If I could give Casa Loma Hotel zero stars, I would. This place is an embarrassment to Laguna Beach. The so-called "management" is a disgrace, and the "customer service" is nonexistent. We arrived at 9pm, tired and ready to relax, only to be shoved into the absolute worst room in the building -- basically a glorified broom closet facing the street, loud and miserable. When we asked (nicely) to move to an oceanfront room -- which was clearly EMPTY -- the manager smirked and said we could "upgrade" for an extra $200. Seriously? That's not an upgrade, that's extortion. Any halfway decent hotel would take care of loyal guests who have been coming for years. Casa Loma would rather bleed you for every last dollar than show even a shred of hospitality. The management is rude, arrogant, and completely clueless about what it means to run a hotel. It honestly felt like they were going out of their way to make the stay as unpleasant as possible. The vibe here isn't "boutique hotel" -- it's cheap roadside motel with a view you'll never see unless you fork over more cash. Save yourself the misery. Casa Loma is a money-grabbing dump with terrible management and staff who clearly hate their jobs. Laguna Beach has far better hotels where guests are actually respected and valued. Casa Loma should be ashamed of itself -- but judging by how they treat people, shame is something they're long past caring about. Exhausted. Mattresses are fire tho. read more

We booked this hotel for the great location on the beach and close to shops and restaurants. The property is stunning even when under construction. We were not informed of this at the time of booking the hotel. There was no restaurant, bar, spa or any amenities. We were charged $30 per day for zero amenities. I typically do not dine in hotel restaurants, so I was not concerned about it, plus Laguna beach has many excellent restaurants blocks from the hotel. It is nice to be able to have a drink at the bar. We made up for it by purchasing Prosecco at a store and having drinks on the terrace at sunset. I think many reviewers would have crushed the place with 1 or 2 stars. Why the four-star rating? The place is in an amazing location and will be a stunning place to stay once the renovation is completed. The rooms are going to be beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Just make sure you are aware of all of the costs, parking, amenities fee, taxes and whatever. We will stay there on a return visit and cough up the big bucks. read more

Room 435, at $350 a night in the winter. Patio has room for 1 kinda weird for a room for 2. Heater is broken loud and we didn't use it so we were cold at night. Didn't help the room is located with a door that is in the elements with a 2-3" gap letting more cold air in. I honestly loved the view and saw the difference in the renovation just think they forgot a couple important things. read more
