Moldy frozen grapes given at pool
Sara G.

Pros - Beautiful location with great views - Cookies at 6pm - Welcome drink - Common area is cute Cons - expensive for what you get, toothbrush is $12 if you forget one - Only give you 1 soap bar in the shower for your entire stay - Rooms are run down: stains on couches, carpet coming up on the edges, damaged walls not properly fixed - Ants invaded our room but luckily we were able to switch to a higher floor - Balcony doors didn't lock on lower floor making us nervous so we switched rooms - Man with "ladies of the night" showed up to book a room late night so would be careful if you plan to bring kids - Parking would've been $75 a night if we had a car - Limited menu and bar options and limited amenities - Water is not in room but you can get some at the lobby - Bed only comes with 1 comforter - Offered frozen grapes at the pool that were all moldy - Charged $40 a day for amenity fee for moldy grapes? Overall this hotel has such potential due to beautiful views and truly an amazing location making it easy to walk and explore but really needs major help. I wish they would put more money into maintaining the rooms since we were paying $700 a night it just didn't seem worth it to us, felt like a hotel that should've been half the price if that. Wouldn't stay here again in the future or recommend at all but enjoyed the views and location. Left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed.

Ocean/beach view from Sunset Suite balcony

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Loma. The hotel's vibe is chill, relaxed, and comfortable. You can enjoy a beautiful ocean/beach view from the balconies, lobby, and roof deck. The staff was friendly and attentive. The location is amazing - it's a short walk to downtown Laguna Beach for restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, and shops. You can take the beach path on the ocean side of the hotel (there are a lot of stairs) or take the sidewalk on the street side of the hotel. We stayed in the Sunset Suite on the 5th (top) floor. The view from the room and balcony was incredible, especially at sunset. The room was very nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. The bed, pillows, and towels were perfect and felt very luxurious. The cleaning staff did an exceptional job - everything was spotless and nicely tidied up.

Our stay at Casa Loma Beach Hotel was beautiful. The ocean views are unreal--waking up to waves and salty air never gets old. The rooms feel fresh, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and the location is unbeatable: steps from the beach and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. Staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Relaxed, stylish, and exactly what a Laguna Beach getaway should be. Would absolutely stay here again.

This place was great! Free parking, great location, cute aesthetic. The rooms were clean. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was to die for. They also have fresh cookies in the lobby and give you a free drink at check-in. Would definitely recommend.

This was an $1,100/night view

Disappointing Stay - Not Worth the Hype Casa Lola looks charming online, but the reality is far less serene. There's very little privacy -- thin walls and shared spaces make it feel more like a hostel than a boutique hotel. The property is noisy, both from street traffic and other guests. Worst of all, there's a lack of attention to detail -- from cleanliness to amenities, everything felt rushed and underthought. For the price, there are far better options in Laguna.

Sunset Vista Suite

We hosted our wedding weekend at Casa Loma Beach Hotel recently, and it exceeded every expectation. With guests flying in from across the country and around the world, we heard nonstop praise about how cozy, elegant, and effortlessly chic the hotel felt. The staff was incredibly accommodating--helping with portering, clear communication, and even a few lost-and-found rescues (thank you Amber!). Allene and Elisa were standout stars throughout the weekend helping us host several events at the hotel over three days. When a once-in-a-blue-moon monsoon forced us to pivot from our planned rooftop events, the Casa Loma team handled the change with grace and creativity, preserving the overall vibe we envisioned. Guests--both locals and out-of-towners--couldn't stop raving about the views and the unbeatable location. Some spent time in the cute nooks and crannies throughout the hotel or relaxed on their balconies with those unmatched ocean views (when the rain finally let up), while others wandered over to Marine Room for late-night drinks thanks to the perfect location. And of course, the food via Sapphire was amazing! We were able to check off all our boxes when it came to cuisine and transport our guests to all ends of the earth with food from the Mediterranean, Malaysia, and South America. The Late Night Bites of sliders, fries and chicken tenders were crowd MVPs at our Afters. We're already looking forward to visiting Casa Loma for our first anniversary. Thank you to the entire team for transforming a rained-out wedding weekend into the chicest group sleepover of all time!

You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

However, I am only giving three stars because first impressions are lasting and the woman who was working the Office check-in desk when I arrived made me feel like an annoyance who was interrupting her work. She was efficient but less than welcoming during the check-in process. Unfortunately, I had to interact with this woman two more times during my stay and each interaction was equally unpleasant. My goal in staying at The Tides was to destress but she made me feel like "Bad Dog". Soon after checking in, I had to return to the Office to ask for assistance with accessing the WiFi and a day later, I had to ask for assistance with accessing the pool. I assumed that I needed to use my hotel key to open the gate to the pool. The Office woman made me feel like a fool when she rolled her eyes and said in a tone that I interpreted as exasperated, "There's a latch at the upper top corner of the gate." She was right. There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog." Someone needs to explain to this Office woman that without these pesky visitors, her business will have no customers and she will have no job.

When I reported the incident, I expected at least a professional investigation and clear communication. Unfortunately, neither was provided. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication from hotel management. I had to follow up seven separate times before receiving any meaningful response regarding my claim. Even then, the information I received was inconsistent and contradictory. One hotel associate told me that security cameras were being reviewed, while another later informed me that there are no cameras in the parking lot at all. This lack of coordination and transparency made an already stressful situation even worse. When the hotel finally responded, they pointed to a limited liability disclaimer allegedly printed on the parking placard. However, the placard I was given was already torn when I received it, and I was never asked to read, acknowledge, or sign anything related to parking liability. Using a damaged placard as evidence that guests were properly informed feels misleading and raises serious concerns about how these policies are communicated. While I understand that hotels may have policies limiting liability, I expected better security measures, more professional communication, and a genuine effort to assist a guest whose property was damaged on-site. Instead, I encountered delays, conflicting information, and a complete lack of accountability. Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage future guests to exercise caution when parking here and to carefully document the condition of their vehicle and any parking materials they receive. The hotel's handling of this situation has left me with little confidence in its commitment to guest service and customer care.
