Love five vines and the atmosphere. I had the mystery flight and the server was great. The food was not as amazing as the other times I've visited, but overall great experience

Such a great local spot to wine tasting or simply eating and yapping in SouthOC. There's a variety of flights you can choose from. The Malbec flight was tasty and my personal favorite is the froze. As for apps we had the garlic fries, flat bread and fried cauliflower. It did not miss! All staff were so transparent with their favorite menu items, and super attentive and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is great for a little dinner date, happy hour or intimate get together.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend.

Five Vines Wine Bar was a great find. I had this place on my list for quite a while but was never in the area. On the way back from a recent trip down to Ramona we had decided to stop in here on the way home and I am glad that we did. The place has a great look and vibe to it and the menu is diverse and has a plethora of wine options from glasses to tasting flights and so much more. We walked in and managed to snag a tow seat high top table near the bar and were greeted and given menus within just a couple of minutes. My lovely wife and I both opted for wine flights and started with the famous cheese ball as we decided on what to eat. The cheese ball was really good and definitely lived up to the reviews I had read. You can truly see how this is a favorite. For my meal I went with the 3-Cheese Crispy Prosciutto Mac + Cheese Skillet. This was cheesy and delicious in all the right ways. There were several other menu items I was looking at so a return visit is definitely in the cards. We ended our meals with some ice cream of the several varieties offered and this was also great. The place is a bit pricey for the portion sizes but the quality more than makes up for it in my eyes. The parking in San Juan is always frustrating and tough. We managed to find a spot in a nearby lot just a couple minutes walk away but be warned that it can be tough to come by. Overall, I was very impressed with my initial visit to Five Vines and hope to come back again real soon. I recommend checking them out if you are passing through or spending time in the area.

This was a cute spot. Perfect for an easy date night or catching up with friends. Loved the casual vibe of this place. They have a great wine selection with good food as well. Pretty friendly service too. Definitely worth a stop next time you're in San Juan! There is paid parking nearby, street parking can be found too.

We took the train out to San Juan Capistrano for the day and were looking for a nice spot to relax and grab a bite before our train back. We came across Five Vines since it's right by the train station and we're so happy we stopped by! We came during their happy hour around 2PM and it was not crowded at all, and very low key. We enjoyed this since we were looking for a more relaxed outing. The space indoors is cozy, and there's also outdoor seating as well. We came for their happy hour and there were great deals! While they had a $14 wine flight available on Wednesdays, we opted for individual glasses ($7 each glass) and some food plates to share. All the wines we had were great, but the food was the real highlight for me. Our hummus plate was tasty, and very fresh! The pita bread that came along with it was warm, and had a great flavor. The Margherita flatbread was also good, and it was nice to see that the spot had quality food options for their happy hour menu. Our server was friendly and attentive and overall made our visit an ideal experience. If I'm in the area again I will definitely consider stopping by and trying more of their food and wine.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very nice ambience. The vibes were great and busy enough that the atmosphere was still lively.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food and drinks were delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area

After visiting Mission San Juan Capistrano, we were super hungry! I checked my Yelp and found a quaint wine bar that was currently doing happy hour! My husband and I got a little cute table near the bar, and ordered the meats and cheese platter! We waited about ten minutes and our platter came out. What a gorgeous platter filled with various cheese, meats, strawberries, pickles of all types, jams and mustard, and a delicious array of crackers and piping hot bread. When you combine all these tidbits together, you get a savory flavor explosion. I loved the fig jam paired with prosciutto, cheddar, and carrot pickles on warm bread. There were so many different combinations you could put together. My husband loved it too- especially all the tasty meats. It was a truly decadent experience!

Omg. Had such a great time here for our first time. I think I saw it on social media and living in South OC, I did not know this existed. I am a total fan. We arrive just before 6 PM after parking in the city garage that is two dollars per hour. I'm not sure if there's any street parking But the garage was about a 50 yard walk from the door. I think it was still happy hour when we arrive, but that was not acknowledged during the server's introduction. We opted to share a couple of different items, including the crispy chicken sandwich, spinach and artichoke dip and a glass of wine and beer. I love that you can get 2 ounce tasting pores of wine as well as 4 ounce and 6 ounces. We really enjoyed the chicken sandwich was was plenty to share. The spinach dip was good although it was served with I believe some type of French or ciabatta bread, which seemed a little dense or chewy if that makes sense. It wasn't necessarily a dipping spinach dip, but you had to put the dip on the bread. We probably would try something else like the pear and brie skillet or any of the other small plates or charcuterie boards. The ambience is super cool with both inside and outside dining. There's an upstairs celebratory room. I would definitely come back and try other items. Some guests around us ordered salads, hummus, and the olives, which all looked delicious.

I did some research and somehow last minute I noticed Five Vines Wine Bar on line before a trip to San Juan Capistrano for my birthday. Usually a wine bar has a small food menu, but Five Vines has an extensive one. I was lured by it, wine tasting options, seating inside or outside and 21 years and up age limit. An adult environment is important these days, quieter and cozier. For our visit, Five Wines didn't disappoint, it is easy to find, close to the train station. We were greeted right away, picked our own table, chose an indoor one since it was a tad cooler and their decor is so cute!!! We started with a Flight of Malbec and that was a great choice, you get to try 3 types. We also shared their Pear and Brie skillet which comes with delicious baguette, fun hot app, great for a romantic night out. We continued with a flatbread, got the Oh Honey one with bacon, goat cheese, basil, drizzled with honey, one of the best flatbreads we ever had! I got a complimentary Lava Cake since it was my b-day, they forgot the ice-cream, but they brought it in a nice dish. The cake was melting in my mouth. We also got more Malbec, you can get a taster, a glass, etc. Lots of options, in size, type of wine, they have an amazing menu. Great wines, great food, service, atmosphere. I really enjoyed a night out here, especially a celebration! They have a HH M-F, if you live in the area, take advantage. If you visit San Juan, this could be a fun place for lunch or dinner, nice atmosphere, one of a kind place!

    Amanda H.

In the heart of San Juan is a stunning yet cozy wine bar. The staff was extremely helpful with selecting the perfect choices in a build-your-own flight! The "Whole Hog" was my favorite. This spot was even the first location to serve a frosé in the area; be sure to ask about their unique flavors! My only regret is that I didn't walk out with a bottle (or two) to bring home with me!

There's a lot of places to eat, but I wanted to try Rancho because I saw them in San Clemente. This location is bigger and there's a nice outdoor patio. The hostess was friendly and excited it was our first time. She gave us a great table away from the other diners. It's just better for Cako. Jane was our server and one of the best! Made a couple of recommendations for lunch, but we saw the steak frites and well, I'm always down for a good steak frites. We also tried the fig bruschetta. This was delicious, though I was hoping for real figs instead of a fig jam. But it all worked nicely with the cheese, arugula, and balsamic. The steak came out and was very tender and had an herb butter that was soooooo good! I loved the salad that came with, spring mix with strawberries, blueberries and dried cranberries. I also like putting the butter on the fries....soooo good! We chose the Trestles Tempranillo and it was the perfect pairing with everything! They have a dog menu and Cako got a chicken and rice bowl, which she loved. The patio is a great place on a sunny day. They do have umbrellas and a covered area but it's all very pleasant. The service was fantastic, the staff was very attentive, and the wine was great. The whiskey Bundt cake was absolutely to die for! Unfortunately, the ribeye was a disappointment. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out closer to medium well, and four plates were served incorrectly. To their credit, they fixed it right away and were very kind to offer a complimentary glass of wine, which was appreciated. Even with the great service, I was still disappointed with the ribeye. It lacked the char and flavor I've come to expect from the San Clemente location. The difference in how the steaks are prepared between the two locations was night and day. I'll definitely continue supporting Rancho Capistrano, but I hope this location can bring the ribeye up to the same standard.

Great service and friendly staff. Everyone is very knowledgeable and shares little tidbits about the wine while you enjoy. A few Suggestions / observations: 1. The self service wine area has a massive wine display that limits access to patrons who are there. A thin long belly bar would make it much more social and accessible. Constantly feel like I am bumping into people or wine bottles just to grab a taster then standing in a corner to get out of the way. 2. The massive LED tv's would be so nice if there was nature or a beach scene or something to set the ambiance. Having a massive advertisement of an appetizer stock photo and happy hour fliers illuminating half the store is not enjoyable, they could be utilized in a much nicer format. 3. The location in River Street Marketplace is a winner. The western-inspired ambiance is warm, inviting, and makes it an easy place to relax with friends. San Juan Capistrano has no shortage of great dining options, though, and that's where Finca struggles to keep pace. The wedge salad missed the mark. It wasn't served cold enough, and the dill-heavy dressing created a funky flavor that overwhelmed what should have been a simple, crisp starter. The blistered green beans were another disappointment. Instead of tender with a nice char, they were undercooked with an unpleasant crunch, and the accompanying sauce was forgettable. The bright spot was the smash burger. It leaned a little on the greasy side, but it was flavorful, satisfying, and easily the best thing we ordered. Overall, three stars feels about right. Finca has the setting, the vibe, and the potential. Now it just needs the food to live up to the promise behind its name.

The staff are welcoming, friendly, and always smiling! They've started adding some events to the schedule, like Whistlepig/Cigar tastings, Cajun Boil, Macallan tastings, and wine tastings. They're also introducing a late-night happy hour with food and live music, which is a great way to enjoy a sophisticated drink when most restaurants have closed in the area. The second part of the lounge is the two cigar lounges: the day lounge and the VIP lounge, which has lockers. Both lounges have high-end luxury seating and lots of screens for all your favorite sports. The staff keeps the lounges clean with friendly service. At the back, there's a walk-in humidor that's well-stocked with a great selection, including Davidoff, Padron, Opus X, Fuentes, My Father, Foundation, and Placencia, just to name a few. The Winston House stick blended by Placencia is an incredible stick for an exceptional price! Both lounges have a bunch of friendly regulars, so it's always easy to find conversation, or you can just relax and enjoy the moment! This place is a hidden gem that I consider to be the best cigar lounge in SoCal!

It feels like a local spot with endless options to enjoy. Their baristas (Lucy is the best) can make everything but also don't shy away from suggesting something new. I've recently fallen in love with an iced flat white with vanilla for a little summer sweet treat. Their drip coffee is divine too! Talk about range... we frequent for brunch/lunch/date night too. Their wine list is truly endless. You can sit inside at the bar, at a gorgeous table with air conditioning, under their adorable pink-striped umbrellas on the patio, or in an extended patio off the sidewalk with plenty of seating. You will be treated with exceptional service regardless of seating. Their brunch menu is delicious. Their chive biscuit breakfast sandwich is incredible, as is their breakfast burrito, chilaquiles AND biscuits and gravy. To be fair, we visit most regularly for a cheese board and meat with a glass of wine. Recently enjoyed the ceviche and smash burger with side-winder fries which was hand crafted and filling. Even our young boys enjoyed every bite. On Sunday's (1st and 3rd of the month) they have live music which is wonderful. Last thing, the cellar cookie is incredible. It's hard to just drop in for a coffee and not leave with one when available. You will never regret a visit to The Cellar! One of the best places in San Clemente.

It was the kind of place where sharing plates and a bottle of wine make sense. From my visit, we tried the Charcuterie & Cheese Board, sliders, ceviche, and the Burrata Salad with grilled peach. Everything was solid, but the Burrata Salad was the clear favorite. The combination of creamy burrata with grilled peach, heirloom tomato, fresh herbs, and the bright vinaigrette had a great balance of sweet, savory, and fresh flavors. It was the dish I'd come back for. The other plates rounded out the meal well, especially for sharing, and the wine selection was a highlight. For tips, I'd come ready to share several small plates and take advantage of the wine program. Since the room can get busy, expect a more energetic experience during peak times rather than a quiet dinner. This is a good fit for date night, catching up with friends, or anyone who enjoys wine, cheese boards, and a lively downtown San Clemente setting. The only small drawback is that the busier atmosphere may not be ideal if you are looking for a calm, intimate meal.
