This was my first time here and maybe my last. I should have taken a picture of the paper menu. But I ordered a mango & coconut shaved ice. So long story short, the coconut syrup is made with milk and nowhere on the menu does it state that it has milk, which is super weird because I never heard of coconut syrup made with milk. Guess what? I'm allergic to milk! not knowingly I ordered a shaved ice with coconut and mango syrup and the coconut syrup has MILK in it. The cashier said nothing about milk being in the product I ordered and no where does it state about milk is in the syrup. So the lady who gave me my shaved ice, I told her what was wrong and she gave me the biggest attitude and said sorry "we don't give refunds, you can buy a new one!" Whhhhaaaa!? For being allergic to something that isn't stated on their menu in the first place. AND nowhere did it state anywhere that they don't give refunds! I really liked this place. It had some great potential and has a lot of great juices/smoothies to offer. The only thing that I didn't like was that they didn't have what was actually in the juices you have to ask them and I felt bad and weird asking the girl what was in every juice. They have nice big pictures on their wall of the juices and what number they are but they don't have a menu or something as to what EXACTLY goes in the juices. So I don't really know it was truly fresh or not. They also have a large variety of ice cream. I order the strawberry and chocolate dipped one it wasn't bad but I have to say my smoothie was delicious. I have no clue what number I ordered but if you see my picture you can see. It had mango and strawberries on the inside and outside and it was really refreshing. I loved it!!! I definitely will be back again and hopefully next time I can get more of a run down on each of their smoothies/juices and what they have to offer. Take a look at the wall at all your choices, then place your order and wait. There are also zero prices. You won't know how much your going to pay unless you ask. Most range from $4.75 to $9.00. Man am I ever glad I stumbled across this place while looking for a juice bar in the area. If you like smoothies, raspados, malteadas, mochas, ice cream bars, frozen bananas or juice in general than Cascada Refrescante is the place for you. Let me start by saying this place is busy busy busy. As soon as we arrived the line was to the door and this never wavered throughout the entirety of our visit. The selection here is HUGE and it really is hard to make up your mind on a single item to try. Having wanted a smoothie, I opted to go with the Strawnana variation and it definitely lived up to the hype of previous review I read. The smoothie was refreshing, delicious, fruity and made perfectly. The smoothie is topped with fresh bananas and strawberries and even the straw has a piece of each atop it. The pricing here is also a major plus as despite the fresh nature of the products served they cost no more than other major smoothie retailers such as Jamba Juice or Juice It Up which is a plus in my book. Be forewarned that you will spend a significant amount of time waiting for your smoothie or item to be prepared but the outcome is most definitely worth the wait. I spent my time in line carefully perusing the massive menu and already came up with several more varieties with which I need to try. Another great find in a local area! I need to visit more! This place is loaded with raspados, natural fruit juices, fruit bars up the wazoo, frozen bananas, ice cream, and tons of fruit smoothies!! There are multiple things that I need to try here, but once I find something that I LOVE, I tend to stay with it. Although now I tend to expand my horizons and go with various varieties, but tend to stick to the same type of item. So needless to say, since I was obsessed with the fruit smoothie that I had, I will probably stick to the fruit smoothies for a long time. No problem though, they have over twenty! Based off my memory, they had at least five different types of frozen banana toppings, and they also had coffee blended drinks such as a mocha frapp. It looked like they had about eight to ten different raspados and natural fruit juices. I didn't scope out the ice cream, but they have it! As for the fruit bars, there must have been over thirty!!! There is a gigantic sign displaying all the photos and what they consist of. So, it will be hard to get bored of this place!! There are over twenty fruit smoothies, and they are displayed on big signs across the whole place, with a number and a name. The picture shows what fruits are included next to the cup, as well as on top of the straw in the photo. The smoothies really do come out like the picture! Not like those sloppy burgers at fast food joints that look nothing like the photo or what you ever dreamed of. I went with the berry beauty, which consisted of kiwi, strawberry, and banana. Yummy!!! Everything tasted so fresh, and that is rare these days. I already have a few things in mind for future visits. I am thinking of the mixed berry next time. Pricing is average and about the same as every other smoothie place. The down fall? The wait is crazy. We were almost out the door right when we walked in, and it was just as long when we left and we had been there a good fifteen minutes or so. CARL'S JR COMPLEX!!! - if you physically enter the address given from Yelp, it'll take you to the Big5 complex and that's wrong. If you just click the "map" pin in the Yelp app, it'll take you to the right complex. I read some reviews on Yelp and they were totally right!! On a hot day, the line goes out the door, but rightfully so because this place is amazing!! It's definitely a little hole in the wall, but you'll notice it because there's a crowd of people just waiting to place their order. Order: there's popsicles on the right wall when you walk in and then throughout the other walls, there's the infamous fruit drinks, ranging from Chamangos to all coconut and everything inbetween. Most of their drinks come with a smoothie type base and fruits attached to the straw. --Number 21 $6.50: your typical Chamoy/Chamango. The base is a mango slush drink with lots of spicy syrup along the sides of the cup. On the straw, the places several pieces of fresh mango with tajin, spicy syrup, and a hint of lemon. There is also mango chunks in the drink and the mango slices on the straw is super fresh and the flavors work well on the entire fruit. The drink itself is a bit spicy for my taste, but very good overall. --Number 24 (Cupid's Shot $8.50): comes with watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe. Watermelon based slush and heart pieces of all the melons on the straw and throughout the drink. Honestly, I think this is super refreshing, not too heavy, the watermelon base is so cooling- if you've ever had a watermelon slush, this is just that. Fruits: you can definitely tell that they buy all their fruits fresh. You can also see the ladies making the drinks so you know that your drink hasn't been sitting around all day before they give it to you. The guy in the back is the one making your drink base. Price: I think it's on the pricier side, both drinks that i got came out to $15, which is definitely more money than any other drink place (boba or jamba juice). I think for the quality of the fruits, it's worth it, especially since it's all fresh and nothing is from concentrate. Service: the ladies are all super nice and the cashiers are very friendly. Where are the paletas (popsicles)?!! They haven't had them for a couple of months!! I know at least 3-4 months if not more. And although they have no paletas, they still have the pictures of the paletas posted,...why? I was looking forward to coming to this place, but once I got here it wasn't the best experience. Young female cashier was not helpful at all. Making my customer service experience not good. I felt like I was bothering the young woman as I was ordering and paying. After making my order, I did make a request to put a little tamarind syrup flavor that they use in the raspados on my the drink but she said she couldn't and wanted to charge me $1 for the optional tamarind stick which is not what I wanted. What ticked me off is that the drink comes with shaved ice and tamarind could've poured instead of the pineapple flavor. Delicious! Got the coconut smoothie and it is soooo good! Coconut on the straw and on top of the drink itself and shredded coconut added to the blended coconut! It is a coconut lover's dream. It is milk based with a medium sweetness (very similar to a coconut boli). The customer service was on point, very nice. Cascada Refrescante is an awesome smoothie place. This is our go to place after visiting Knott's. The smoothies are perfectly blended with just the right amount of sweetness. The servings are big and the prices are very reasonable. I get a different smoothie every time I go and I've absolutely loved each one. My son always gets a shaved ice. They're very tasty too. We always LOVE to hear the positive comments but we also love when our customers point out the cons and give us feedback, since we are always looking for ways to improve. My job at Cascada Refrescante is to ensure that the service and quality product our customers walk out with is always at its 100%. FRUIT SMOOTHIES: Our smoothies listed from 1-20 are all $4.75 If you're brave like you mentioned, you can prepare any one of these with chile, chamoy, limon, and salt for an additional charge of $1.75 Our number 21 (Summer Hot) is basically the number 4 (Mango Mandess) prepared which is $6.50 22-25 are all $8.50 26 & 27 are both $4.75 & 28 our berry mix is $7.50 "Why are they not all the same price?" many people ask. Since our smoothies are made with real fruit & fruits don't cost the same price our smoothies don't either. I know these prices can sound a bit or (very) ridiculous! Unfortunately there is nothing I can do. I will however, say that good quality can never be cheap. We don't have a supplier that delivers our fruits to us. The comment that really caught my attention was the blueberries from their original packaging. Our blueberries come washed and ready. Before sending them to the front they rinse them throughly again just in case. I can see how this can be a discomfort for some people so starting today April 9, 2014 we will transfer our blueberries to a clear container and rinse them not once, not twice, but 3 times. Cascada Refrescante has so many options it can sometimes be difficult to settle with one option. Due to having such a large menu we are struggling to put up a menu. As you already know we have all our smoothies going around the wall. We also have the fruit bars posted up. Hanging a traditional menu is something I stood against because It is going to be ridiculously long and I feel like it will be too much for the eye when you walk in. We concluded that we are going to put up a flat screen with a slide show of our menu. Pros: Very good smoothies! My dad and one daughter got the strawberry banana, my other daughter got the berry mix, and I got the strawberry, kiwi, banana smoothie. All were absolutely delicious with a very pretty presentation. My dad was completely blown away by the taste and presentation (strawberry/banana have always been his favorite), he asked me over and over again where the smoothie shop is at! They also had a wide variety of to choose from, which I really liked. Cons: Some of the smoothies were more expensive that I would have liked to pay. The berry mix was over $7!! I would have steered my one kid to a more reasonable priced one if I knew that was the case. The menu available when I went was only in Spanish, so I didn't bother to look at it very carefully. Upon first glance of it, the prices all looked the same, next time, I will be more mindful of the prices, I just didn't want to hold up the people behind me. Ordered: Three fruit bars: coconut pina, mango and jamaica Raspado: tamarind and mango For the non Raspado drinkers, wondering what it is and heard of it? It's basically Hawaiian shaved ice but Mexican style. Instead of the flavored syrup it has real fruits in it so much better the syrup flavors. There are over 40 different fruit bars that is 100% natural. I can honestly say how much I love it here and love that they believe and serve natural fruits and make them all in their fruit bars and drinks! I have to yet try them all but I'm getting there. This place has been a fav of mine for many many years. They are clean, sanitized and it's not some typical bionicos! Its a more upscale reversion. Everything is very fresh and make to order. It's a little shop that I probably would never have thought of going to until I saw a friend go and the fruit smoothies looked too good to not go! I usually go to Lynwood or LA to get everything that they have here! I am so glad a friend told me about this place! They have all kinds of delicious fruit smoothies, popsicles, raspados, and choco-bananos which make my heart beat! They don't display prices, which is kinda downer if you're on budget. Especially because the Mango Chile one I got was $6.50! I would have just bought myself two popsicles had I known beforehand. Since this place is so close to home, the price is worth it. It was delicious, fresh, and spicy! The fruit is beautiful, and they aren't stingy with it. It's evident in the presentation, and the fruit you see at the bottom of every popsicle.
