I had a wonderful first visit to Strange Brews Coffee & Bites, and I'll definitely be back! There is plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. The ordering process is easy--you order at the counter first, find a table, and they bring your food and drinks to you when they're ready. The highlight for me was the Banana Cloud Latte. It was my first time trying it, and I absolutely loved it! The banana flavor was smooth and natural, perfectly paired with the espresso and creamy foam. It wasn't overly sweet, and it was one of the most unique lattes I've had. We also ordered the Cream Top Matcha, Strawberry Matcha, Banana Cream Top Latte, and Butter Cookies Latte. I asked for the Butter Cookies Latte with less sugar, and it was perfect--the buttery cookie flavor really came through without being too sweet. For brunch, we had the Breakfast Burrito, Omelette, Avocado Toast, Chilaquiles, and French Toast. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The portions were generous, and everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. The café has a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and a great selection of specialty coffee and brunch items. Strange Brews didn't live up to the expectations we had as customers of Strange Cafe, the previous restaurant at this site. It's obvious Strange Brews took over the yelp page and partial name of Strange Cafe to ride on the coat tails of their excellent reviews. You have to order your food and drinks at the register, then go find yourself a table. There is no prompting from the person at the register like, can I take your drink orders? Or is this for here or to go? He just said hello and kind of stood there looking at us. He did make suggestions once we started ordering and after he asked if it was our first visit. The process was slow, for us and those who ordered ahead of us. The seating area is so so. There nice booths on either side, but the center row of tables is a bit too wide so when sitting there I felt like I was in the way of people trying to walk by. There is no decor, besides scattered plants, which is fine, it's just funny that they didn't stick with the "Strange" theme from the cafe with their psychedelic 70s prints. The food was ok. My husband had the tres amigos breakfast tacos with chorizo. It came with no sides, just 3 chorizo and egg tacos. Beans would have been appreciated. They were not very flavorful. I had the chilaquiles with asada and the green salsa. The green salsa was very tasty. The asada was ok. My husband took some of my salsa covered chips to add to his tacos for more flavor. One annoying thing is the amount of single use disposable plastic they use. All the drinks come in plastic cups, even water, the salsas come in those small salsa containers with lids. I'm no tree hugger, but i think we do have a responsibility to be conscientious and not create more waste and trash than necessary. Just buy reusable and wash the dishes. It just seems lazy. You can tell the owner is trying to save money wherever they can, to the detriment of their customers and the environment. If they had servers taking orders at your table and real serve ware, the experience would have been better and maybe we'd plan to come back, but as it stands now we won't be back. My husband said "they don't know who they are", and I agree. read more

Small little dine in restaurant; cute and cozy. We ordered to go and there was a seating area to wait in. Banana Cloud iced latte- a sweet, delicious and creamy drink! Once the cold foam melts with the coffee, you really get that banana taste. Swirls of cinnamon and subtle maple taste. Wish the cold foam was a little thicker in consistency. French toast with berries and cream- comes with condensed milk, syrup and butter. The condiments make the French toast. Without the dressings, the bread is a little plain. The bread is soft and fluffy inside. The edges have a little caramelized sugar. Love the thick cut of the bread. Breakfast sandwich- Good average sandwich. It was good but nothing special about it. Would've preferred it came with cheese. Would come back for the coffee and SUPER friendly staff! A little pricey ($30- 1 coffee, half order of French toast and breakfast sandwich). read more

Stopped by for a couple lattes before I started my day. Decided on the cookie butter latte and banana cloud matcha (although I ordered the banana latte, but the matcha came out - all good, though). Both were reshreshing and delicious, but I preferred the matcha more. Cute cafe in a strip mall. Order the AM burger with home fries. The burger had a good sized patty and the egg was perfectly over med. When you bit the burger, the yoke was soft but not runny. Good seasoning. The bacon was that nice thick bacon where you actually taste it. Home fries were delicious too The matcha lattes hit the spot. I ordered the banana matcha with oat milk. The taste was really good and banana flavored but over powering. The matchata was matcha mixed with horchata which my dtr enjoyed. The food was OK, the breakfast sandwich had way too much sauce on it and overpowered the sandwich. The banana coffee was very disappointing. This is a little more than 1 week old review. In term of food and drink, I would give this a 3.5 stars, but the cashier was really nice so it round up to 4. At this place, you ordered at the counter first then choose an option to dine in or togo. We opt for dine in as they have a huge area for dine in. Very minimal decor, but they have like an arcade game at a corner. We ordered a sandwich and the breakfast taco. The sandwich is huge but mainly filled with spinach. The breakfast taco was delicious in term of flavor although the meat was a little chewy. Drink was average. The banana matcha has strong matcha but lack of banana. Was looking for a coffee place next to my work and came across Strange Brews. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the friendly barista's. It was early on a Saturday morning, so thankfully, there was only one person in front of me, but they have lots of seating if you want to sit down and eat. I ordered the banana cloud. It was so tasty love the banana chunks, and the banana chip on top was a nice touch. So happy to have a good at coffee place near work for when I need that extra caffeine. Cute place. Small ish and not decorated the cutest, it's simple, but they had no wait which is what we were looking for. You order at the front and they bring you your food. Stopped by one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. This place is tucked away in a plaza and definitely feels like one of those hidden gem spots you wouldn't expect until you walk inside. The space itself is very open and comfortable, and the staff were super friendly and helpful with recommendations. We ended up trying the Breakfast Tacos, Chilaquiles, and two coffees; the Banana Cloud and Maple Matt. First off, the coffees were incredible. Easily the highlight of the visit. Both drinks were super flavorful and well balanced. Definitely worth ordering if you're coming here. The food was also really good overall. The portions were generous and everything had great flavor. My only small note would be the chilaquiles, I personally prefer them a little crunchier, and these leaned slightly on the softer side because of the sauce. Still very tasty, just something to keep in mind if you're big on texture like I am. The breakfast tacos were great and definitely hit the spot. Prior location of the sunrise cafe. They said they have been open for about 6 months and we decided to try it out. Get the chilaquiles, we got it with carne asada and half red and half green salsa. The chips were crispy and the meat portions generous. We also ordered the sausage omelette with home fries and also the portion of sausage was also generous. The ice coffee with blueberry cold foam was also top notch . We legit cleared out plates and were debating if we could eat another order of the chilaquiles Service was also good and everyone seemed friendly. We decided to try this new spot after seeing photos and reviews online, but unfortunately the experience didn't match the expectations. It's no longer really a sit-down restaurant and feels more like an order-and-seat-yourself setup, which wasn't clearly reflected online. The menu also seemed very different from what was advertised, with limited options and unclear drink sizing/pricing that increased the total unexpectedly. The service was just okay. The cashier came across annoyed when we asked questions, almost like we should've already known the answers. We also noticed a younger employee bringing in family members, cutting ahead of other customers, seating them personally, and taking their order while everyone else waited. On top of that, a customer in a wheelchair was placed in a very tight corner without a proper accessible seating area, which was honestly disappointing to see. The wait time was also long considering the restaurant wasn't extremely busy. We waited close to 30 minutes for two plates while still waiting on the rest of the order. As for the food, it looked promising but lacked flavor. The pesado Burrito especially was disappointing -- mostly onions, dry carne asada, and missing the tots that were supposed to come with it. Overall, the food felt very bland and under-seasoned. This must be the place!! We found an amazing brunch spot and it was AMAZING! The service was top notch with Hector and Gonzalo! WOW these two and their staff nailed it! I was looking for a spot with some good avocado toast in OC awhile ago (yes this is a late post) and found this little gem. I went Sunday morning and there was only one couple there other than myself. Many seats, and honestly this place should be packed, because the food looks like it would all be good and the vibe was cool. It had posters and a little mini arcade. I ordered their avocado toast and it came with pickled onions which i love on avocado toast. There was also a fried egg on top. Honestly one of the best avocado toast I had. I also got this ice cafe de olla drink. I was able to get a refill which I liked, but it is a little water down. Overall I would come back for that avocado toast, but will probably try another coffee drink. I also want to try other things they have like their Chilanquiles. I ordered a Cranmelon Drink, and Omelet with Toast and Hashbrowns Keep in mind this review/score, along with all my others, are solely based off of comparison to other places within this price range. That being said let's continue - The Cranmelon Drink was very tasty, they make their own syrup in house so it's a unique spin on a soda which I really liked. I would recommend to try any of the flavors. The Omlete plate overall was pretty comparable to most places, but this one takes an edge because of the size. The Hashbrowns were definitely above average, they were warm and had a thicker consistency which I personally like. If you're into thinner strips and crunchy Hashbrowns then you wouldn't care for these. The Sourdough toast was good, nothing really unique about the bread; HOWEVER, the jam they provide with it was very very good. I would definitely order this again just for that. Overall this is definitely a place to stop at if you want a simple breakfast place with a cool unique ambiance to it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. So many savory stuffed waffles that I wanted to try, but I'm also a basic breakfast gal so I went with the buttermilk pancakes combo and as simple as it was, it slapped. Bacon cooked to a crisp, just as I like it. Eggs over easy and scrumptious. Hashbrowns cooked perfectly. Fluffy, buttery pancakes that I got Sweetella style and it was delicious. This location has switched hands so many times I didn't realize a new breakfast joint had taken over. I think this used to be Spencer's Bistro, then some Korean restaurant, and now this. The decor and vibe of this place alone is enough to bring me back. It has a great 70s hippie decor. It's much more spacious than how it looks from outside. There's even a little corner with classic video games. Great to kill some time while you're waiting for your food. Will need to try some more food to give a more accurate rating but will give it four stars for now. Tres Amigos (three tacos) were quite good. They were served on small corn tortillas with chorizo, eggs, pickled onions, cheese, chipotle sauce, and cilantro. Thick Brioche French Toast Combo was quite massive. The customer service here was great! It really felt like every need I had was met even before I spoke sometimes haha. Solid 10/10 there. The restaurant was clean and everything looked very orderly and organized. The food was good! The portions were big and it was worth the price. Some things needed more seasoning and whatnot and the presentation left a bit to be desired. The concept of the restaurant seems cool but is rarely implemented within the food itself other than having a title attempting to attach said theme to it. Cool place but left a bit to be desired. I'm not a breakfast person I do t really like much breakfast food and 90% of menu is breakfast themed. I found one of the only dishes that didn't have egg. My grilled chicken sandwich was great had great flavor tears were nicely fried. My friend ordered the am smashie burger which he loved. The vibe is cool retro ish with some arcade games free sample also got a free sample of cafe de holla. If you are a breakfast fan or enjoy a runny egg in your burger this is your spot.
