Ordered take-out at the place and waited about 30 min. I had been there before and really liked it, so ordered a med. sausage/mushroom pizza, loaded tots and an Italian beef. The pizza is very good...thin crust, delicious sauce and sausage. It's tavern style, which I like, so it's just the perfect thinness. The tots were good: cheese, real bacon (not the store bought in a jar) and sour cream. I didn't try the beef, but was told it was good. Will definitely order pizza more often from here. read more

I love their pizza. They have a taco pizza that takes a little longer but it's worth it. Went for a party and they were great about refilling and keeping food hot. Had the beef and sausage for the first time and it was really good. The bar is small but they have a party room and a tent outside when it's warmer. Drink prices are average. read more

The thin crust pizza is good and the sausage taste flavored well seasoned. The ambiance is nice not so loud music isn't as loud and we can hear ourself talk. The fries are really good! Jaime attended us. There should be more servers though. read more

The bartenders are too busy playing darts and overcharging for drinks to actually pay attention to their clientele. The attitude from both the bartender on shift and the so called manager is absolutely disturbing. This used to be a place I'd love to visit with friends. They have nothing but men in here. Maybe they should give the same grace and courtesy to their female patrons as well, maybe they'd have a better coed set up. On two separate occasions my friends and I have visited the establishment and each time we have been ignored and not served appropriately. Money that could have been spent, tips that could have been made but missed because the female bartenders on certain shifts want to ignore everyone but men. From the outside it looks like a rough place, but it's not quite as bad inside. It's a local place for sure but they're friendly to most people. Waterworks is a bar and pizza place in Lyons in a pretty nondescript part of town. Coming to drink and eat here is the only reason to be in this area. The prices are great on drinks and okay for food and pizza. Actually this bar recently had a big renovation because of a fire. It looks much more modern than it used to be, so that's what helps it look better inside. The bar is the main part, and there's plenty of tables. Can still get very crowded. This place is hella loud to be sure. Great drink prices. It was $2 for wells. Got to think it must have been a mistake. Oh well, there's no complaints about that. As for the food, not that impressive but okay for a bar. It's $8 for a plate of some spaghetti. Basic looking. The service is pretty slow, understandable because this is a busy place. Also it's hard to hear. This makes it hard to properly get orders. Good enough for a bar. It's better than it looks from the outside. We live in Wisconsin 200 miles away but my father in law lived in the area his whole life up until 5 years ago we had to move him up here...his friends and other family are all still down there. When he passed his wishes were to get his friends some good pizza and have a few beers.He has been a patron here and loved their pizza so we tried to do exactly that...we booked the patio knowing we would have 50+ people coming for celebration of life. We called a Danielle and one other lady 2 months out and discussed what they had for food and set up. We told them we would call the final few weeks for a more accurate head count. Day of celebration we showed up and literally were told they had no clue what we wanted and had booked a kids birthday party outside on the patio. We were now shoved in a back room with maybe 25 seats. We have 50+ adults and need room to eat. We were given menus and told to order like regular customers!! She claimed she didn't have our contact information and had no communication about anything! We have call records that show otherwise! We brought a cake from our local bakery, they remembered somehow that we ordered family serving of salad and that was ready and we ordered 5 family size pizzas to start. The waitress informed us she would just add stuff when she saw we needed it. She was working 2 parties..we rarely saw her. 45 minutes we waited for the refill pizzas! No food was available in between pizza refill so I cut the cake to appease some people! Half of Dad's friends had to sit in the bar on the other side of the building from this room...we were split up. People missed the speeches and mingling amongst one another because there was no room! Money was not the issue for why we had it at a place like this...this was our father's last wishes. You made our day from start to finish total chaos. Lies of communication, giving the area we needed away to a kids birthday, lack of attention to our guests. We had veterans and elderly leaning up against walls. 420.00 for 9 pizzas,family salad and 5- 2liters absolutely did not match with menu prices. No breakdown just 420.00 circled on a green kitchen ticket. Not really one positive thing I can say about the place. read more

Was a loyal customer and enjoyed the pizza in the past. Been a customer for several years with good quality pizza and praise. This time around, I ordered 2 pizzas to celebrate Fathers Day - family size pepperoni and another that was sausage. I was very surprised that the pizza doesn't taste the same as it was and to make it worse, it was as if the pizza fell and they filled it with whatever pieces were sitting on the shelf. It's like a rookie cook attempted his/her first shot at making pizza and I was the unfortunate customer. Paid 51$ for this crap. DO NOT SPEND UR MONEY ON THIS TRASH!! This is 8 times out of 10 the best pizza around. Lacks perfect consistency but when they get it right, look out, because it's fire.

As my favorite pizza place went out of business. I thought I'd try a new place. I have eaten pizza from waterworks before and it was good, but it had been awhile. So I place order for delivery. I wanted to get a meatball sandwich but sorry we had a large order earlier and we have no bread. I go ahead and order a large supreme pizza. Pizza gets here and the box is so light I didn't think the box had anything in it. Pizza was a thin crust pizza, thin and crispy. I'm not a fan of thin crust but I wanted to experience the waterworks style. Toppings were good with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Absolutely worst service. New to the establishment, outdoor vendors were setup, cruise night too!! Seemed like fun. It was until I entered the bar/dining area. Fiancé and I sat at the bar and awaited approx 10 minutes for bartender to finish her rounds of drinks with patrons before greeting us. I asked for menu and chose items other than pizza. Was told only items available are Beef and Meatball Sandwiches...we ordered both. THE GOOD PART: Over AN HOUR, still no food. NO food came out that kitchen for well over 1/2 hour however the chef did. Came out to enjoy the party with the Bartender as well. I seen no one washing hands however lots of germs being passed. I had enough. I asked for my card back that was being held. Told just another 15 mins for a second time. Everything is made to order. Seriously?? Like I've never cooked before?? Doesn't take over an hour and crinkle fries aren't homemade either. Nope. Bartender became irate WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS. A gentleman asked out loud for service her response was WAIT MOTHER FKR...Wow. Then turned to me and said Never order here again in a threatening manner. I"ll do you one better, how about I never return and go ahead and write that yelp was my response. I'm very sad to report that even though it is still called Waterworks, they had a fire. After the fire they decided to rebuild the bar completely. Gone is the old dark New Orleans dive bar charm, the old men telling dirty jokes, and just the entire experience is gone. Gone is also the horseshoe bar. It is now a well-lit modern long bar where you all face the wall/bottles except for a little curve at the very end with TVs everywhere. When I was there, hip-hop music was blasting. It's not the same place. If you're into sports bars/modern bars with that kind of feel, cool. Waterworks just isn't for me anymore. I also had an issue with the pizza I ordered (the meat on it was bad) but instead of complaining, I opted to ask for a to-go box because I didn't want to stay there any longer as it was not my scene anymore, and I dumped the pizza out in the dumpster in an alley down the street. read more

My girlfriend turned me on this place. I live in Oak Park and would have never come here. Their thin crust pizza is the definition of Chicago tavern style. Perfect combo of cheese, sauce, greats sausage and pepperoni. Crust is crispy and not soggy. Can't say enough about it. I getting hungry just thinking about it. I have been there pre and post fire/remodel. The old place was very old school but the updated version is more family friendly. Not a big fan of DJ night since he really is loud but I come for the pizza. I wish they had frozen pizza to send to my kids at college. read more

The pizza is above average but not worth the lousy business practices you have to put up with to regularly patronize this establishment. More than one time I let it slide when they forgot and didn't even make my call-in order but last time when the shorted me an order of wings, I took them at their word, they would put a note on my profile and get me back on my next order. Today when I called, the genius working the phone could find no such note in the computer and after some back and forth it finally occurs to her they have a whole new system after the fire in February. Still, she can't fathom I'd be telling the truth and tells me in her rudest candor, I'm SOL. Businesses like this are better to not be in business. I'm sure the economy, the health inspectors and eventually anyone who expects some civility for their money will see this place out before too long. read more

It's a bummer to spend almost $25 for a single pizza with delivery and have it come after an hour and 45 minutes, not hot, with no offered compensation - and on a Thursday, so not a day I'd expect an extra long wait. The delivery guy was lovely, absolutely not his fault, but I called the restaurant after the hour delivery window and the pizza still hadn't left - obviously late delivery wasn't the driver's fault. I called twice, and the second time was told they would call the driver and call me back. He showed up shortly thereafter, but I was never called back by the restaurant and never offered so much as a coupon. Bummer. I totally get being busy, and the pizza was solid, if a little greasy, but worth what I paid with the wait? No. I would stop in in person to give them another shot, but I won't be ordering delivery again. read more

I will put Waterworks pizza in my top 10 Chicago pizza joints. Ordered a 16" all mushroom 1/2 sausage 1/2 pepperoni. I'm a sausage guy. Wife is pepperoni. Came here to listen to a band (Caliente Old School). There were six in our party. Staff was extremely accommodating, ensured we had a table and enough seats. Ordered our drinks - waitress was sweet, courteous and and drinks were served fast, drinks were good. For a night as busy as this was they were short staffed but we never felt neglected. Eventually we ordered a pizza. Pizza was excellent. Loaded with meat, sauce was good and the thin crust was indeed thin and crispy. We start eating and we all said it at he same time - there's people smoking in here. Sure enough - I look up and a whole table directly in front of band was smoking. It's like they all decided on cue to light up. Needless to say - it kind of ruined our dinner. Maybe we've been so accustomed to smoke free environments that we just took for granted smoking was banned from all establishments. That's the only reason I took off one star. I had a Pepperoni, Garlic, Onion family size pizza well done. Deivered to my residence on 5-23-20 @ 5:23 PM. Everything was good except for one major breakdown. The pizza was left on the front porch of the residence without ringing the doorbell. There was a voicemail left on the answer phone which I got 1 hour later. Unfortunately I was left to eat a cold pizza which left me most unhappy. The pizza would have been much better hot. Which is why I knocked off one point in my rating. There were folks home and dogs would have barked if the delivery gal would have bothered to ring the bell rather than left the pizza on the porch and dashed. 5 stars on the pizza. This is easiest one of the best pizza places in Chicagoland. The customer service is another thing. I ordered a pizza via the website and was told it would be 45-60 minutes. When I arrived I was told the website was not correct. They had my even started the order yet and said come back in an hour. There was some bickering between the hostess and the cooks, but it got much worse when I returned in an hour and my pizza was not ready.
