Pretty small menu. I got the deconstructed Tacos which is like a burrito bowl. It was the Chicken Tinga Tacos which you can turn into a bowl for an extra $5 which adds rice beans corn and crema to the mix, it was pretty tasty but nothing to write home about. Meh. I don't feel compelled to come back. $18 for a salad with carne asada that I barely ate because the dressing was not tasty. How hard is it to ruin a dressing? Just put oil and vinegar! Carne asada in the salad was god, though. Plantain empanada was just ok. And this is to say a lot since I could just eat plantains the rest of my life. Too many beans or too much sauce or too little plantain. Not sure what was going on there. Guacamole: something was missing. Was it lime? Tomato? A little spice? Didn't finish it. Service was impeccable. Prices were decent. Food was not authentic or good. We all were in the bathroom as soon as we got back to our hotel (5 minutes away). My first drink was replaced because it was served with a very long hair in it. The queso had no flavor, just straight melted cheese. The chips were cold and stale. It was comparable to chain restaurant food, but with great service. I am guessing it wasn't made fresh to order because the food came out super fast. I had high hopes and expectations for this new establishment. As you know, I'm all about the customer experience. My review is mostly about the experience and slightly about the food. Here is why I gave 2 stars. Party of 5 and approx 5-7 min wait time for a table at around 5pm. No problem. When we sit, we are greeted and welcomed. Love it. I have a warm fuzzy feeling. Then, we get a water container and 5 glasses. One glass has lipstick residue on it. Not a good sign. Waitress comes around and asks if we're ready to order. No "any questions about the menu". Ok, ask what is on tap. The menu states "lager" and "IPA". Waitress replies with "there is a lager and an IPA". Another red flag. I ask what kind of lager and she didn't know. So, I ordered a corona and some appetizers. Queso was bland and so was the salsa but the guacamole was great. One member of my party who is over the age of 18 asks if they had any juice or soda. The waitress replies "this isn't really a kid friendly restaurant so we don't have juice". There are better ways of saying you don't know instead of insinuating that they don't like kids there. Bad customer experience. I had to flag the waitress down to order main dishes. We were a bit ignored. The Relleno was delish, the chicken on the tacos was bland and almost flavorless. It's as if the kitchen dipped the chicken in some au jus sauce for a moment and put it on the tortilla. I gave 2 stars because 1/2 the food was decent in flavor. All in all, decor was nice but hardly visible from the street. Service was not friendly and rude. Food was decent. I would not return. I recommended to my fellow colleagues at work and friends in the Seattle area that this is not a friendly and welcoming place. Customer experience is almost everything!!! read more

Came here for a team lunch. Everything looks good but tastes nothing like it looks. All the flavors are dampened and tastes nothing like they should be. Tortillas are old like store bought ones. Tortilla chips are oily and tasted very old. Everything is bland, can you imagine a bland salsa. Flan(didn't take the picture of it) was hard. Food is good. Tacos are generous sized portions. I tried the Tinga de Pollo - pulled chicken tacos and they were tasty. Chips that were served with a salsa were fresh. Service not so great - some supervisor type lady who brought out my food kept referring to me as 'honey'. Not particularly endearing since she wasn't my type ! We wandered into this new restaurant late Friday afternoon and immediately found two spots at a communal table in the bar. Shortly after we were greeted by the very friendly server, Richard, who was awesome! We ordered chips, salsa and guac and scratch margaritas. The margaritas were strong but very tasty, and the chips and salsa and guac are by far the best in the city. I ordered the pastor tacos and my boyfriend had the fish tacos. The pastor had a decent size piece of pork and chunks of sweet pineapple, a perfect blend of sweet and savory. The fish tacos were deep fried yet light and very flavorful. To end the afternoon, we had to order the churros which did not disappoint! They come with a delicious dulce de leche sauce, a perfect pairing with the not too sweet churros. Every new restaurant has kinks to work out in the beginning, so I'm excited to see how this restaurant will continue to exceed my expectations! Nos vemos! read more

We ordered enchiladas and churros for takeout. For the most part this meal was good. Our takeout order was recieved in a prompt manner and the prices were really affordable. I ordered the chicken enchilada (not pictured) which tasted a little funny but was still decent. My cousin ordered veggie enchiladas which he enjoyed. The churros were pretty good, a lot bigger than I anticipated but a good after meal treat. I'm not sure if I would return because I've had better mexican food elsewhere but it is still a pretty good spot. read more

First time at Casco and they have a lovely ambiance. Lively indoor seating and fun casual outdoor tables in the filtered sun tent. Drinks are nice and strong. Food comes out in huge portions; don't be fooled by having only 2 tacos, they are hefty! I recommend the Al Pastor Tacos and Mole Enchilada. Great new place with ample seating and flavorful food in SLU. We went for a happy hour after work, and were surprised by how big the space was inside. Definitely a great place to make a reservation for a larger group, or to rent out for a team outing. We all started with a 'drink of the day' (fruity and good) and then moved into margaritas. The drinks were well crafted, but are strong so be sure to eat those chips :) They bring out complimentary chips and salsa, and the variety of salsas was fun to try. We ordered a few things off the menu, including flautas (essentially cheese fried in a wrapper.. so obviously was good), churros (light, fluffy and hit the spot - we almost ordered more), tacos, and empanadas. Everything was surprisingly tasty, and they have an extensive menu to keep everyone in your party happy. I'll definitely be returning for more tacos, apps and drinks - really excited to have this in SLU. Really fantastic taco joint. I wouldn't call it "authentic" but the twist they give to each item made it sooo delicious. Big thick cut homemade chips for the chorizo queso, huge chucks of pork for the Al Pastor tacos, and dulce de leche for the churros. Even the sangria was more like a cocktail than a wine, but it was killer. I will absolutely be back. Great atmosphere and great service. Indoor and covered outdoor seating. Well behaved dogs were allowed inside which is always a perk to me. Can't wait to come back amd try all the other tacos! read more

First time I've ever left a bad review anywhere. We had a party of 12, so I showed up early and asked the very nice host if they could accommodate us. He said of course, as soon as half your party is here. I said great and waited for others to arrive. Upon 6 of us being there, I reapproached the host stand and told the man standing there that 6 of us were now here so we're ready to be seated. He curtly said sorry 3/4 of the party has to be here. I said oh ok we were just told 6 so that's a bit confusing. He said the rule is 3/4 and has been since the day we opened, I would know since I'm the owner. I said politely oh ok well it seems like the other host isn't aware of the know the rule and you may want to clarify with them to avoid confusion in the future for your customers.He aggressively said "don't tell me how to run my business" and "it must be nice being perfect". Shocked, my group and I decided to take our business elsewhere. We've hosted a lot of work happy hours there but needless to say we will not be going back. read more

I went there during Covid 19 and I got food poisoning. I understand this is a hard time, but mishandling your food is not good. I'm a breastfeeding mother and food poisoning can dehydrate me and limit milk supply. This should be reported. read more

The food was under salted and devoid of flavor other than oil. The drinks tasted less than enjoyable but at least they were strong. the service was lackluster and we were constantly left looking around for our server. He was also the pm bar tender but that just makes me feel even more ignored by the staff, as they were all turning blind eyes to me and my cohorts needing our bills. We were also informed at the end of our meals we couldn't split the check three ways by person; meaning the person who only had a $9 marg would have been forced to split the bill with the person who spent $40 on tacos alone. read more

First time tryout for thy tummy... Tis was bitter Sweet. Great vibe, location... It's basically North downtown. I reserved a table for two, didn't get our patio seating but service is their. The hostess and waitress were helpful but not Uber friendly - they worked their trebajo (job). Their is a good amount of seating indoor and outdoor patio. In addition, the patio has a view to the city life... Lots of people walking and, is planted across from the Amazon sphere. Great place if your into this kind of lifestyle/vibe. However, a bit too modern for a Mexican/spainard vibe I say. Suggestion to the manager: Consider transforming the patio or a part of the indoor to a salsa dance floor or have flaminco dancers with Mexican or Latin music to give the vibe more a feel to what is served.... Ok, now to the food and quality... I ordered the following: Ceviche, great eat to the eyes. A very modern/contemporary styling and was good! Tinga pollo tacos (chicken tacos), dinner very good! Two shredded chicken, wrapped in corn tortillas! Great and juicy/tender texture! Also, thank you that it was corn and, not just flour! Also, tried my wife's lengua tacos. The fact that had them is good awesome. The texture and taste was greatly well created! Both dishes plus the side of beans were very good! Not just the fast food kind of refried paste of a bean ;) Drinks: sangria and la passion. Ok.... If your a sangria person, this was very well done and not some premix juice. It was a good size and Excellent balance is wine/rum and juice. The la passion, I had asked for light simple (not too sweet) and it came out great! Although, to me it was a bit weak in terms of alcohol. Price: a bit of the pricey side, def. Can find great Mexican food elsewhere at a lower/reasonable price. Your paying for the: location's vibe and presentation here. Parking: Don't expect on site parking where it sits - it's downtown/SLU... I really wanted this to be a positive experience. We walked by the night before and were excited because the building and outdoor tent looked great. Front staff was very friendly and we were seated in 20min once spaced opened up. Seemed like reasonable Covid protocols. And then, well, the highlight was my margarita and that's about it. Let's just say it takes a bit mediocracy to bring me down these days considering I'm just so happy to be out at a restaurant eating and drinking. I couldn't tell whether it was the waiters schtick, or he was just really unhappy. It was very odd. We started with Chips, Salsa, and Guac. The chips are okay, the salsa is a bit smoky for me, but the guac was good. We ordered two sets of the Al Pastor. If you like Al Pastor off the spit you're going to be disappointed. They use a full piece of pork belly and the flavor and texture is way off. The pineapple is supposed to be fresh, and give that nice bite, but this pineapple seems like it has been sitting sadly in a container for a few days. That wasn't the most forgettable thing however, because the side of rice and side of some sort of corn was terrible. The rice was overheated, hard, and bland. The creamy corn was a meh texture. Its actually sad to think I was quickly becoming less interested and more upset with the food as time went on. But I perked up with fresh churros on the menu, and had to give it a try. What's key to a churro, the cinnamon and sugar. They maybe sprinkled some on. Come on, roll those puppies around, make em shine! It was more like a plain long donut. So, there you have it. Be selective of your choices if you go, but I won't see you there. read more

Disclaimer: I recognize that times are tough right now because of COVID-19 and that restaurants are only now opening after being closed several months. They're trying to figure out the new norm and trying to stay afloat. However, that's not an excuse to overcharge for a limited menu and service. We started by ordering drinks, which took 15+ minutes to come out. Then we ordered appetizers: no guacamole available, so we went with chorizo queso instead. Our queso arrived sans chorizo, so our waitress said she'd take it off the bill. It wasn't until we go home that we realized she never took it off the bill. The dinner menu is currently limited to tacos and enchiladas; likely as they sort out supply and demand and restaurant capacity. I understand a limited menu, but I don't understand why the dishes had to be so small yet priced so high. Two small tacos or two small enchiladas. No beans or rice on the side, minimal toppings. And they all came out warm, as if they'd been sitting for awhile. Needless to say, service was really slow. With a restaurant at 25% capacity and mixed interest from customers (some people eager to get out, others still scared of COVID), I'm assuming they weren't sure how to staff on a Saturday night, which would normally be busy at this spot. We had to ask a couple times for utensils and napkins. It took awhile for each round of drinks and food to come, and we had to hail our waitress down once or twice. As excited as I am to get back to dining out and supporting local businesses, tonight was a huge disappointment. The only other time I've eaten here was last year (pre-COVID) and unfortunately I wasn't impressed then either. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this place during COVID or otherwise. read more

I really enjoyed this place the first time that we came. I liked it so much that we came back within the same week. This second visit wasn't about the food or anything. in fact, they have really good guacamole and chips. Great drinks and a good atmosphere. What really threw me off about this restaurant is the fact that they allowed somebody sitting at the bar to go behind the bar and start to pour their own drinks. I wondered who the man was sitting with his young girlfriend. Naturally I looked up owner of Casco Antiguo. Sure enough, one of the first images is the man sitting in front of me. obviously I understand that the owners are allowed other privileges, but this was kind of ridiculous. I would expect this behavior in a dive bar. Also he was wearing a PORN HUB hat which really put a bad taste in my mouth. Great spot for happy hour after work, but beware: The wait is suuuper long on Thursday/Friday nights (1hr + sometimes, the place doesn't take any reservations). Came here for a business lunch with two other friends. As others have noted, food is pretty average, portions are ok for 1-person, however flavors are missing. Most of us didn't feel like really finishing our plates. The service is pretty lax. Water and soft drinks not being refilled. Servers (Jon David) disappearing and not checking on the table. The habanero salsa was very weak, but I really don't expect spiciness in Mexican food from downtown Seattle. Also ordered chips with guacamole and salsa for the table; guacamole was simple but delicious and salsa had a smoky flavor. The service here was also fantastic, considering I was with a group of nine near closing time. For dessert, I ordered the churros which were pretty good, definitely need to use the dip that comes with it for more flavor. I stopped in on a late summer weekday for first dinner... or heavy snacking, what ever you want to call it. For drinks I went with the sangria (red), which was okay. I've had a lot better, but it wasn't bad by any means. I was hoping for a more refreshing beverage I suppose. The guacamole however, was straight up bad. Like there were brownish/grayish portions that tasted old. Not old like they made it earlier in the day but old like rotten. Gross! How can you serve that? It was presented in a mason jar which I guess is kind of a cute idea but I just want my guac to be fresh and taste good, especially when spending $6 on a smallish portion. I also split an order of fish tacos which thankfully was edible however they weren't great by any means. The place has tall ceilings and is pleasant, so no complaints there. Stopped in to get some lunch. No one greeted me or the two other gentlemen at the door. We waited a few minutes. I decided to go to the bar to see if I could order to-go from there and have a seat while I wait. The bartender was was nice, asked me if I knew what I want or if I need a few. She let me know that any of the tacos could be turned into bowls. Cool. I ordered carne asada, and the Cochinita tacos but in a bowl. I asked if i need to buy rice for the bowl and she said "no, it comes with your order unless you want a side". Which I did not. I also ordered the Tacoma Pear cocktail for while I waited. The Tahoma Pear was excellent. The smokey salt rim was very yummy. It drinks extremely easy, be careful with that one. The food came out before I even finished my drink. Quick. I took a lyft home and opened my containers and the asada tacos looked great. Super generous with the protein and my husband said it was pretty tasty. I opened my container, and there was chicken, and 1/4 avocado in tacos. Hmm, makes no sense to call them to fix it, I'd have to lyft over there and lyft back. So I made some sticky rice because that's all I have, and poured the contents of the taco onto my sticky rice. It was okay. Not bad. My check was $40.79 and I gave the bartender a $10 tip so for $50 bucks we got two great carne asada tacos, one cocktail, and ok cochinita because I had to make it with rice from home. The food was good, the service was pretty bad. The waiter did everything he could to push us out. He asked us for a chair from our table even though there was a stack and of chairs nearby. He just wanted us to leave, even though no one was waiting for a table. When we first arrived they told us they couldn't take our names to wait for a table. They took the names of other people for a table, but not ours. It was weird. The waiter chastised the hostess for even asking if we could wait for a table. After we were seated they barely came to our table. It's too bad, we were excited to try this place out as we work downtown. Another reason not to be down here. UPDATE: I wanted to amend my review. The food was really good, drinks were delicious, and the other staff was very nice. It was just our waiter was so unpleasant and rude it made us feel bad about the entire place. Just left this restaurant. Was really excited to try it because it was recommended as a really great Mexican restaurant in downtown Seattle. We are visiting from Los Angeles, and we're expecting to experience a good time at Casco Antigua, Especially since we are Latin and are accustomed to Mexican culture. We got there at 9PM, 1 Hour before they closed, the host was trying to convince us not to eat at the restaurant because they close at 10PM, yet the kitchen was not closed yet. Then host told the waitress "sorry I tried to convince them not to eat here" as she rolled her eyes. Which was very disrespectful. The waitress could not get our order right and we had to go up to her three times to make sure our food was right since she never checked on us. When the host finally came with my appetizer I asked for limes and he brought 2 limes for a party of 4. We finished eating and we had to walk up to the bartender "Tyler" which was nice, to get our check. Our waitress was too focused on cleaning to ever come and check on our table. We left before the store closed as we don't want to be stay after hours. Very very rude service. The one star is for Tyler the bartender and the food.
