WOW - I literally have never experienced better customer service in a restaurant in my 25+ years of life. I highly recommend the queso appetizer, the chicken tinga tacos, and the churros for dessert. The food was good, the service was pretty bad. The waiter did everything he could to push us out. He asked us for a chair from our table even though there was a stack and of chairs nearby. He just wanted us to leave, even though no one was waiting for a table. When we first arrived they told us they couldn't take our names to wait for a table. They took the names of other people for a table, but not ours. It was weird. The waiter chastised the hostess for even asking if we could wait for a table. After we were seated they barely came to our table. It's too bad, we were excited to try this place out as we work downtown. Another reason not to be down here. UPDATE: I wanted to amend my review. The food was really good, drinks were delicious, and the other staff was very nice. It was just our waiter was so unpleasant and rude it made us feel bad about the entire place. Just left this restaurant. Was really excited to try it because it was recommended as a really great Mexican restaurant in downtown Seattle. We are visiting from Los Angeles, and we're expecting to experience a good time at Casco Antigua, Especially since we are Latin and are accustomed to Mexican culture. We got there at 9PM, 1 Hour before they closed, the host was trying to convince us not to eat at the restaurant because they close at 10PM, yet the kitchen was not closed yet. Then host told the waitress "sorry I tried to convince them not to eat here" as she rolled her eyes. Which was very disrespectful. The waitress could not get our order right and we had to go up to her three times to make sure our food was right since she never checked on us. When the host finally came with my appetizer I asked for limes and he brought 2 limes for a party of 4. We finished eating and we had to walk up to the bartender "Tyler" which was nice, to get our check. Our waitress was too focused on cleaning to ever come and check on our table. We left before the store closed as we don't want to be stay after hours. Very very rude service. The one star is for Tyler the bartender and the food. I had really high expectations for this place . The service was not the best. The drinks were not good at all . Our margaritas were so unflavored and really bitter. Was excited this place was opening near us and looked forward to eating here. It was busy for a few weeks when it opened but I noticed the crowds died off quickly. I had heard rumors of bad service but thought we'd try it anyway. I regret doing so. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Saturday evening but it took a bit to greet us when we entered and then we sat at our table for almost 10 minutes before someone came over to help us. He asked us what we wanted to order. I told him we hadn't even seen menus yet. He then wandered around the restaurant looking for menus. He even stopped to help another table while he was looking. We finally got our food ordered and then delivered. The food was pretty good. My enchiladas were a good sized portion but for some reason were on a tiny plate. Had to be careful with the first few bites not to get sauce on the table because there was no room on plate to cut food. Check out service was similar to our early service and after being tired of waiting I just paid at the bar. Food was fairly good and location and atmosphere are great. Once they notice you're almost done with your food they bring the check, not even offering desserts or anything! Wow! This place was damn good! Classic margarita strong and delicious with not being overly sweet. Octopus (PULPO) was melt in your mouth tender, though the portion was a bit small, that is to be expected when you order octopus. The sauce served with the octopus was just delish and all the other sides were equally amazing! My friend ordered the MARISCOS AL MOJO DE AJ which was freaking epic! Piled high with all kinds of yummy seafood with a perfectly fluffy and well-flavored quinoa. It was really good. And they make there salsas in house daily. Must love dogs... there was a miniature horse sized poodle-y dog laying on the floor next to the table adjacent to the kitchen, he/she even got up to go IN the kitchen! Yum! So sanitary :/. Minus two stars right off the bat. Pets do not belong in a restaurant kitchen. It was so off putting to all of us. Without the dog this would have been a solid 4. Anyhow, I went here for the first time for a co-worker's birthday. Our table of 5 was seated for a very long time without any service, albeit it was a full space. Nonetheless, after flagging someone down our server came immediately and apologized that she did not see us there(despite us being seated right next to the host station and across from the open kitchen). She was very nice and was patient with our variety of dietary restrictions and made sure everyone's order was correct, so lady, two of the stars are for you. The food runner, however, got them all wrong and putting a platter of meat in front of a vegan is not very appetizing. The food, mostly good, mixed reviews. The chips with salsa and guacamole was so good!!! I wanted to take the cute little jar home. One person loved her carne asada plate and was super happy, she took home leftovers of the other (picky) person (who hated all of her sides) who also had the carne asada. The beans were smokey and reminded me of Tex-Mex. Good but not as expected. The corn is super creamy and cheesy, great flavor but very rich. Fish tacos got a thumbs up as well as the vegetable tacos made vegan. The potato tacos, one of the many gluten-free options, I so wanted them to be good, the filling flavor was nice but these were absolutely saturated and dripping with oil. It was only palatable when it was hot, and the second taco was left on the plate. The last star is for the salsa, sangria and the dessert! Churros, with dulce de leche. The actual churro is vegan. Yay for two of us. There were no options for gluten free desserts. Loved the sangria, it was sparkly and perfect. Our first time trying casco antiguo thinking it was going to be a great time, we arrived at exactly 9:18, the waiter states their kitchen is closing any minute and we tell him we were ready to order so he lets us sits down. The waiter ( short female with dark hair up) makes a face at him and he stated well I tried saying we were closed as I was walking to the restroom. As she took our order she took it wrong, when we asked for lemons for a party of 4 the white gentleman (waiter) gives us 2 PIECES OF LIME. We asked for extra utensil he stated they were on the table, we said yes but need more and he responds "you need extra?" With an attitude. LIKE YES WE NEED EXTRA. HOW DO YOU EXPECT A FAMILY OF 4 ADULTS EAT WITH 2 FORKS? We literally walked in after everyone else and STILL left before everyone else. We were out the door at 10:04PM and that's only because the waiter (female) took forever to come back to our table so I got up and asked the gentleman Tyler (nicest of them all) for our checks. I spoke to him for maybe 2 minutes and was the nicest person there. Every other person in the restaurant was rude besides Tyler and the cooks ! It's sad to see that it is a MEXICAN restaurant, and every other WHITE person in the restaurant was treated way better then me and my MEXICAN FAMILY. I came here on a Monday for lunch. It was empty but 5 minutes after I arrived it became pretty busy. Food was good. Plenty of vegetarian options. I shared roasted veggie tacos and fish tacos with my friend and both were delicious. One thing that was missing in both was any sort of Chile. This restaurant is in a great location with an amazing view of the Amazon Spheres and has indoor and outdoor seating. To me, it has a modern but relaxed vibe and I was surprised it hasn't been very busy when I've gone. The service has always been delightful, everyone has been nice and knowledgeable about the food. Walked in, told bar seating was closed and that it would only take a couple minutes. 30 minutes later I walk in and check on the status and was told that I can sit at the bar? Sitting at my table for 20 minutes, I haven't had my order taken by anyone. As I'm sitting at this table, I'm now seeing people be seated at the bar area with no wait..? Wasn't particularly impressed with any specific item or thing about this place, except our waitress. She was very friendly, great personality and attentive. Her personality didn't match with the food and value. I understand what they are trying to do as a "alternative" Mexican restaurant but I wasn't feeling it. Lackluster would be the best word that sums it up, but definite shoutout to our waitress (forgot her name, blonde girl with bright personality, so sorry). Location is awesome, the decor indoor is typical for the area but please get some window coverings for the extra bright sun baking that occurs in some window seats. We were sweating it out! The food was very good, but the service was terrible. Our waiter disappeared for very long periods of time without checking in with us. There was a long stretch between being seated & first being waited on, we waited a fairly long time between ordering an appetizer & drinks and receiving them, and an even longer period of time before the waiter finally came back so we could place our entrée orders. After receiving our entrées, 45 minutes passed and we had not seen our waiter at all. I want to start by saying I'm really really sad to be leaving a two star review for Casco Antiguo. Like, really sad. I've been to their Pioneer Square location a few times and enjoyed it, but this location didn't measure up. The pros: - Location! Centrally located in the heart of downtown near the Amazon Spheres - Service was good, our waiter was constantly attentive and seemed apologetic when we had to send something back (more on that below) - Happy hour even on the weekends, with pretty decent food and drink prices - Some of the food was good! We enjoyed the chips and guac and the cochinita pibil tacos The cons: - Some of the food was not so good. The carnitas were over cooked, making them dry, chewy, and stringy. My friend commented that it had come out so fast they probably already had it prepped and sitting for a while and just gave it a flash fry. We also ordered the black bean and plantain empanada, a favorite of mine from the PS location but had to send it back the first time because it was straight up burnt and bitter. It was better the second time around, but I'm not sure why they would even plate and send out the first one. - Drinks were cheap and STRONG, but the cocktail I got was really sweet and gave me a sugar headache afterwards Of course, it's a new restaurant so it's expected things will need some refinement, so I'm open to giving it another shot later down the road since the HH pricing and location are so great. read more

I stopped by on a Saturday shortly after they opened, around 2pm. There was plenty of tables available. Excellent location next to the Amazon spheres. There's planters set up. It makes for a nice outdoor ambiance. They have a few tables that are actually outdoors with umbrella cover and overhead heaters (however the heaters on two of the tables weren't working). They also have a large covered tent, but I prefer not to sit in that type of set up. The food was excellent. I ordered the poblano tacos and requested them to be dairy free (vegan). Their soft tortillas are super good. Their tortilla chips aren't that great; they didn't taste fresh, but the salsa is super good! I ordered a margarita and a sangria; so good! Both drinks were well made. Our server was very friendly. I look forward to returning. Since I live in the area, this will be my go-to spot during COVID winter. read more

We went here thinking about eating Mexican food and flavours but to our surprise the food was extremely sweet. We are big fan of Mexican cuisine and hence were left surprised. When we were settling down the server asked "if he could get us started with some chips and salsa". It sounded like it is complimentary like most Mexican restaurants so I confirmed and he said it will be $11. Later I realized that this was a scam that is being played by the servers. Why would you get us started with only chips and salsa? There are other appetizer too in the menu. It is to get easy money, I guess. Anyways, the chips were cold and salsa was okay (bland). Would not recommend anyone to eat this costly chips and salsa. For main course we ordered plantain empanadas and vegetarian enchiladas both of which were sweet and cold from all the sauces and drizzle they added. The server brought us the hot sauce but that was not enough to get us the right flavours. In the end, I ended up paying $46 for my portion of food being totally dissatisfied with my food. I didn't tip as I hated the food. The server came back to my surprise and started confronting us. We told him that the food was horrible and everything tasted sweet which is not what we expected. The server continued with his rant that he expects at least 20% tip from us. We didn't end up paying any tip and why should we pay tip for something we hate. It should be between the server and the restaurant owner and not the customers if they hated the overall food experience and it should never feel like a forced thing. They're always accommodating to my crazy requests of food, seating, and ambience. Even during Covid they've made this place a safe and enjoyable space to be.
