I can't believe it took me all these years of visiting Disneyland to finally try this ride! It's tucked away behind the Dumbo ride so it's easy to miss if you don't know it's there. What a fun surprise! It's a cute little train ride that loops around Fantasyland, and the cage style seating makes it so much fun, especially for the kids. Yes, this ride can have a long line as every little kid loves a good train ride, but honestly I think it's worth it. Especially if you want a few minutes to relax and get off your feet. The ride itself is a fun little twisting turn that navigates above the Storybook Land Boat ride so you get a really nice perspective of all the little models below. While you don't get the narration you do on the boat, it almost feels like you are knocking two rides out in one. My kids might not agree with me, but I think it counts. I have kids that are currently 8, 6, & 3. They all absolutely love this ride. Even when some of them will go on to ride more intense rides, they will always have fun on this relaxing ride. As my wife and I were walking around Disneyland I saw this ride that I have never seen before. It was near Dumbo's ride. It was a train that went around the waterways almost the same as the water boat ride, Storybook. There was basically no wait for this ride. We waited about 5 minutes. So we had to do it. The train has different carts to ride. Some you were locked in like a caged animal hehe. Others were out in the open. We rode in the caboose at the end. It was a short little ride and went around the waterways of the miniature villages and towns. Nice break from the other rides. read more

We went up on Mother's day with my son and parents and after lunch at Red Rose Tavern noticed the line was about 5-10 minutes long so we decided to hop in line. Line went by pretty quickly since there were two trains running. It is a nice little trip and the seating is fun, like a circus train. Pretty relaxing and you get a great view of the boats and mini homes in the canal. Good way to just sit and relax for a bit too. read more

I know this is a kiddie ride, but good lord do I love it. As a lifelong aficionado of miniature trains, there's something oh-so-magical about the Casey Jr. Circus Train at Disneyland! One of Walt's very favorite attractions, not much has changed over the years - and that's just the way us Disney purists like it! Located in a tucked away corner of Fantasyland, there always seems to be a line for this ride. The queue area is very small, and they sort of pack you into a very tiny area before boarding. This leads to some unnecessary and uncomfortable pushing and shoving, especially as people jockey for the best seats: arguably, the caboose and the monkey cage. Be aware that if you or your child has their heart set on a particular car, you need to shove to get to it. But don't be a jerk: if you arrived after someone else, let them have first pick, please (I speak from years and years of personal disappointment)! The train ride is long and fun, and includes a tunnel and all sorts of stuff to look at. Not only do you get beautiful vistas of the park, but the track rides along the same path of the Storybookland Boats. It's easier for Pooh-sized or ADA folks to enjoy the same scenes on the train versus the boat, just FYI. The open-air train ride takes you through enchanted Disney "homes," like miniature versions of Alice in Wonderland's house, Elsa's ice palace, Belle's village, and more. The Imagineers have outdone themselves here in terms of landscaping, choosing plants that look like mini trees! It's just so pretty. I recommend riding this at night, when the lights are twinkling. Even when I'm at Disneyland solo, I always make a point to ride this ride. And guess what? I'm usually not alone! There are still so many miniature train enthusiasts around, and we love a good train. Our last visit to DLand was pre-CoVID. Used to be pass holders but terminated. We wanted to go with a couple Grandbabies we hadn't gone before. Casey Jr has always been a favorite for us with the littles and times haven't changed. TBH, it made ME feel like a little again. We didn't want to get wet in the rain and at the same time we wanted to ride together, so we squeezed into the monkey cage like a can of sardines. LOL! It was worth the discomfort and we enjoyed pointing out all the themed miniaturized scenes from Disney classics like Aladdin! The best part was when our brave train went up the hill! The train cars are circus themed and some have cages and they're built mainly for kids, but adults could fit on the train but it might be a little uncomfortable. Our three-year-old Leo B. loves a train, but the tunnels along the Disneyland Railroad freaked him out on his first visit to Disneyland and he didn't want to ride it again when we went back last month. We were happy to find the Casey Jr. Circus Train in Fantasyland, which was much more his speed, a cute, leisurely mini train ride like the ones you might find at a zoo, but done up in full Disney style. It's apparently one of the park's original attractions, but I didn't even know it was here until this last trip. I guess I had no use for it when I was old enough to make memories but not yet a parent. The circus train is definitely for little kids, small and not terribly exciting, with no height restrictions--both Leo and his baby brother Wade B. seemed to enjoy it. There was almost no wait to get on, and the ride was fun and relaxing. We opted for one of the open cars (you can also ride in an animal cage) and sat back while it wound its way across the track, passing miniature storybook scenery from various Disney movies. Casey Jr. is from Dumbo, which was news to me. This is by no means an essential ride if there are no tiny children in your party, but if there are, it's certainly worth the negligible line. Casey Junior tricked me! The wait time said 25 minutes and we ended up waiting over an hour I got duped by kids ride! They only have one train so one driver and that means very long waits at 4 minutes a pop. Located in Fantasyland, the queue is a bit confusing with no guidance. So many people were confused about where to line up. It was adorable though and I love that little Casey said "I think I can" as he went up the hill. What a little cutie train. But I think it's just that. This was my first time riding Casey which is surprising but I never thought of it as more than a very little kid ride. And to wait an hour for it? I must've lost my mind. You go through the same mini scenes that you do on Storybook Canals. Now the cool bit is that Casey Jr. Circus Train is one of the OG rides that opened with the park in 1955. This is fine for the very young set. On this particular day we were visiting from Florida with our grandkids. Whilee we were on line, one of the trains broke down and came off the line. Therefore, we had a longer wait. It was a long, slow wait. of course, when our grandson picked a vehicle to ride in, he picked the animal cage car where we all had to bend down after hitting our heads on the interior roof. ugh. It was a very short ride and not very exciting for the older children riding it. Matthew's gonna review some individual Disneyland attractions/spots! The Casey Jr Circus Train ride, I will never forget its animation counterpart in the classic motion picture Dumbo. I used to watch that movie on repeat throughout the age of 4 to... up until 8 or 9, really. It's that one Disney feature length cartoon that my parents recorded on the now obsolete VHS tape, and my sister and I would just play it over and over because, well, that's all we had back then. No internet in the early 1990s, people. The unintended result is that now, even as adults, my sister and I both still know the scenes from the movie very well, and that most definitely includes Casey's scene of its carrying all the circus staff and animals miles and miles, up and down several hills, traversing through long tunnel(s) before reaching their next circus act venue. We both still distinctively remember the musical number that accompanied this scene, and how poor Casey had a hard time climbing up the hill, panting and struggling, until finally overcoming the slope and smoothly descending down the other side. Ah! Such memories! So in that sense, this attraction makes total sense for us, for it gives us a chance to actually become part of this iconic movie, and for us to experience the fictional plot, and to relive our real-life memories (of watching the film). I would imagine most kids these days just see this simply as another fun train ride; but for us older folks, it could potentially mean so much more. Of the seat options available on Casey, I highly recommend choosing the cages labeled either Monkeys or Wild Animals. It's not an everyday chance that you get to experience what captive creatures feel like. Kinda wrong in a way, but also so much fun when you don't give it too many serious thoughts. The train ride actually lasts for quite a while, so even if you have the misfortune of lining up for more than 20 minutes for this so-so Fantasyland attraction, at least you'll get to enjoy it for a good length of time. Though it spans across not that big of an area, the train track actually circles back and makes 2 to 3 laps, essentially cycling the same basic premise at different elevations, enabling you to get a decent tour of the area at a decent pace. Whether intentional or not, you'll also get a nice view of the lake that the boats embark on in a nearby attraction, the Storybook Land Canal Boats ride. You'll get to view the same miniature "famous" Disney buildings and scenery as the other attraction, though at a much faster and more brief fashion. You're on a train, after all. So don't blink, or you'll miss it. If you're awesome at this, be sure to check out Arendelle and Agrabah! Final thoughts: It's a kiddy ride, but a nostalgic one at that even for the kiddy-at-heart adults. While it is not at all worth a long wait for most grown ups--especially what you most likely will end up doing is essentially squeeze your full size bodies into tiny little train cars and/or cages--catch this Dumbo locomotive when there is little or short wait. (A 10-minute wait is the threshold for me. No more than that.) It'll bring back some decent childhood memories, which is partially why you pay for a Disney admission, yes? read more

This is such a cute ride, and it's really fun for small children who don't want to go on one of the scarier original rides such as Snow White or Pinocchio. It's longer than it seems it would be, and sitting in one of the cages on a hot day is pretty relaxing with the shade and a cool breeze as the train chugs along. The design is just like a circus train and the kids like to ride in the parts that resemble cages, which is fun. But they don't tell you where to sit so you might not be able to sit where you want if someone else gets there first. The line is never too long whenever I come to ride it. And it's essentially the same ride as the storybook boat ride, but you get to see the same views that you saw below on the boat, from above on the train. read more

I have to say that I have been to Disneyland at least once a year since I was born. I have had several annual passes over the years, and I never remember riding Casey Jr. Circus Train until this last year. This last year I took my 3 year old nephew to Disneyland at least once or twice month. There's several different coaches to choose from... both open air carriages & covered cages. The cages can be challenging for adults like me who are not limber enough to easily slide on or off. :-| If I have my choice, I'd take the first car or the caboose. When the gates open, my daughter runs in to grab a cage because she loves pretending to be a circus animal like an elephant, tiger, lion, etc. Her little brother will sometimes engage in the pretend animal play, but he mostly sits & watches the scenery (of Fantasyland... mostly over Storybook Land Canal Boats) unfolding below. Sometimes the kids will bounce along with the song... we've been on it a few times but still haven't learned the song yet (but they got "it's a small world" down pat). Depending on the conductor, the ride can be fast or slow; I noticed evening rides are usually faster. We had a comical conductor on our latest trip, he told jokes & silly stories while we were waiting in line, & a couple anecdotes during the ride. =) I prefer taking a ride in the evening when Disneyland & Casey Jr. Circus Train are lit up in the evening, especially on a warm spring evening. Casey Jr. is coming down the track, coming down the track, with a smoky stack... I'm an annual pass holder and our routine is to always start the day at Casey Jr's. My son is fascinated with trains, and during the ride we sing along the Casey Junior theme, that's playing as it moves. Its one of the few rides in the park, that you would have to wait for when it departs and make its full route before picking up another set of riders. I'm always surprised how many people get here no matter what part of the day it is. I find it's best to sit on the very rear of the cart, that's facing the opposite direction, you do get a better ride view when going through "Storybook Land" because there's nothing in front of you obstructing your viewing. However, getting the rear-end seat is not always guaranteed if there's many people ahead of you. When the good seats are taken, you might end up in the least popular seats like the caged cart, especially when there can be a party inside and you get crammed in it. It does fool some people thinking there's a problem with the train when it starts slowing down, then stops at midpoint, but its just Casey Junior telling itself "I think I can" before moving uphill. Its a slow moving ride that's good for all ages and for families, but not one of the favorites for those thrill-seekers. read more

After waiting in line you board a really cute small train. You get to sit in either the regular train cars (that fit about 2 people per car) or you get to sit in one of the circus "cages". Why would you not want to sit in the circus cage?? That is just too cool. The ride itself lasts a few minutes and takes you on a nice little tour of Fantasyland and the Storybook Canal. There is one part of the ride when the train struggles to make it up a hill and then glides down the hill on the other side. The total best view in my opinion is the back seat...you actually face backwards so you get a really fun point of view of the whole trip. And the train has a totally catchy song to go along with it. I had never been on Casey Jr's Circus Train before so we decided to ride it twice when it wasn't busy. The best time to ride is at night so that you get a view of the entire park lit up. You also ride by Storybook land so you can see the boats and if you are lucky, you might catch the fireworks as well. Love this ride, even before we had our son (was a fan of it), who, for the first time, last thursday (9/18), got to ride it, and was more intrigued by the other ride (storybook) overseeing all the miniature homes along the water, one with a windmill, one with a wheel; beautiful scenery and the landscaping is just gorgeous (so green, so lush, carefully manicured- I can see why he was distracted). The wait wasn't so bad, but underneath the blistering heat, maybe seemed longer? When we finally got our chance, we chose a train car with shade (animal cages). It's a fun ride, making adults feel like kids again. Went by fast. Had fun some while it lasted, though. The real challenge was, trying to explain to our little guy, that we were leaving one ride to go ride another. I'm sure that we'll be back and this ride will be on our agenda, too. read more
