Story time: I have been having an issue with my car for a couple months and ended up being told by another shop to go to the dealership directly to address the problem. The original codes indicated a potential issue with the catalytic converter. After Casey Kia completed the diagnostic, I was told by the service rep that the tech indicated a new engine was needed as they found metal shards when they drained the oil. I do not dispute this and I imagine that was an issue. However, I specifically asked them if the catalytic converter also needed to be replaced since that was the original code. I was told no and that by replacing the engine, the whole problem would be solved. I explained we would need to take out a loan to cover costs (about $7000), and it took about a day to secure the funding to proceed. I also asked them to replace a rear light as it had gone out as well. Fast forward a week to me receiving a call that I can come pick up my vehicle but the tech relayed the message that "the catalytic converter would need to be replaced soon". I was told the car could be driven. I was told "Yeah I remember you asking me that question and I felt so bad when they told me you needed a new catalytic converter, but we replaced that light for you for free" and "I'm sorry, I'm still new and in training". After speaking with the service center manager, we were told the old engine was so damaged the catalytic converter code was not able to be read. Now from my understanding, codes are stored in the computer, not the engine. In fact the paperwork that was sent home states there was a "stored code" indicating a catalytic converter issue, but I digress. They quoted an additional $3600 for a new catalytic converter. I then asked if I came to pick up my car (since they told me it was "ready for pick up") and the faulty catalytic converter tore up the brand new engine if it would be covered under warranty- of course the answer was no. We were told we would receive a phone call "tomorrow" (Saturday) so they could attempt to find us a better price on parts. I did not receive a phone call until 6pm on Monday, after I left a voicemail expressing my discontent in services, asking for a part list so I could find the parts myself, and informing them I would have my car towed out the next day. Instead of a parts list, I was sent a message the next day (today) with the original quote and a "sorry we couldn't find a better price for parts", and asking if they can proceed with the service. I will not be giving Casey Kia another dime of my money, ever. I am sure lots of folks have had a great experience, and I have never had a bad one until now. I bought the car from them 4 years ago and received phenomenal service., but not this time. Fool me once, shame on them; fool me twice, shame on me. read more

Went in for a manufacture recall issue. They tried to upsell me on services and I had to fight for them to take no for an answer! After I had turned down services they said, "Well we'll at least do an engine flush." I was very unhappy that I had to keep telling them I didn't want other services. Then when I went to pick up my car, I could hear a tire making a funny noise and before I turned out of the lot I stopped to check and there was a screw in one of tires that certainly hadn't been there when I dropped it off. read more

2013 Soul is having shifting problems along with no RPM while driving issues. She explained it seems to be the Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor (thanks to google). They said we need to run a diagnostic ($175.00) and we'll figure it out. They said it's the battery, ($400.00) and they drove the vehicle and said everything was fine. They misplaced her keys for 30 minutes. After leaving the dealership, the driver side mirror is broken and the exact same problem is happening. She couldn't get her car up the driveway. No RPM, while driving 45 mph and car stalled. Obviously, they did NOT drive the car to test it. They saw a young, female, college student coming a mile away. I found the car I wanted online and checked the inventory on the website. It showed as being on the lot, but of course when I got there it wasn't. That's fine. I understand it's probably not updated in real time. So I test drove the same vehicle just a different package and decided I still wanted the other vehicle. They told me the exact vehicle I wanted would be at the lot on a certain date, about 3 weeks out. So I put a $500 deposit on the vehicle, let them run my credit, etc. Well, the date came and went and I didn't hear anything, so the next day I called my sales person and he said my vehicle had already been sold to someone else. Even though I had put a deposit down on it. Then they tried to sell me the vehicle I had already decided I didn't want. I had to go through the hassle of getting a refund for my deposit. And start the whole process again at a different dealership. What a disappointment and major pain. read more

I bought a brand new KIA SOUL 2014 the ending of '14 in CASH. At the time of purchase most helpful people! Now fast forward 2022 My car engine is somehow losing oil. The staff in service had been giving me the run around for not bothering to return my calls every time I call for a follow up. When I finally was able to bring my car in the first time about April I was told my car has 9 recalls. The women who made my appointment the week before said if I get the recalls there's a possibility KIA will help with my engine. My engine warranty of course expired 3 months behind somehow, but you know Kia has "10yrs 100k" but somehow that wasn't for this situation. After my recall had been completed there was no mention of the main problem concerning my oil (which again I came in for. When I asked about it, all I was told is "keep up on your oil changes". To suggest my car problems are all because of "oil changes" is insulting, my car gets regular oil changes from the moment I paid for it in full 2014. My car is out of "warranty" and I still was willing to get it done out of pocket. But the place I bought it from IN CASH clearly did not want to bother with it. When you make a service time for 10 and arrive at 9:15 then told you will be waiting several hours because people didn't show for work that's unprofessional I should've received a call in the morning before my hour drive to get here. Beware of upselling! Do not be me and trusting in a service department to be truthful. Took my '21 Kia in for an oil change and requested any KIA "required" maintance that may have been missed in the 3 years we were overseas. Did not want "suggested" services. We are brand new to the NN area. I'm the idiot in this exchange because I didn't do my homework and look before trusting them. Car had 64k miles- they told me spark plugs need changing at 65k and all the fluids were late being changed. I trusted they knew what they were taking about because I don't know cars and I guess because I'm a female they decided they could take me for the idiot I was. After they charged me more than was quoted and made me pay a service fee for using my credit card (for a bill over $1500) and telling me my "bank is charging you a fee" ($30) when really it is KIA rolling their business credit card transaction fee to the customer- only then did I do my research in the manual and Kia website for my car. Those spark plugs are supposed to be replaced at 97,500 miles, the fluids- most don't need routine replacing like they told me. The engine coolant- KIA says to replace at 120k and then every 30k after. I gave them a piece of my mind and they told me they are "trained" to suggest the maintenance that pops up on their screen- they are actually trained to UPSELL which is good for their business but not good for the customer. They could not tell me what schedule I should be on now with the engine coolant. KIA says to replace at 120k miles then every 30k. They replaced at 64k... do I now wait to 120k like in the manual and KIA website states under my car's REAL maintenance schedule or am I now stuck at every 30k miles? They couldn't tell me.... They misled me into thinking I was really far behind on a lot of maintenance. I told them my tires and brakes were all brand new; however I still somehow ended up paying for a "brake service" I told them I didn't need. They had the chance of forming a relationship with a new honest customer; however, due to their dishonesty and shady practices I will not return nor can I recommend this service department. Do NOT be me. Do NOT trust anyone at their word. Look up the maintance schedule on your vehicle before you go. Do not fall for upselling. It's just a dishonest money grab. read more

I have a 2021 Stinger. It was the store managers car. Bought it as brand new with 5,000 miles on it. 100,000 mile bumper to bumper and life time power train. Returned it within the first couple days because it had a wobble when braking, turns out they had to replace the rotors. I have 24,000 miles on it now and the same situation is happening when I break. I took it in two months ago, mentioned the brakes were squeaking and that there was a wobble in the steering wheel while I got my oil change. When done asked mechanic if brakes were good, he said they should be based on miles; leaving the impression he didn't even check. Wobble persist and squeaking gets worse, call again and tell the service department. It takes a month and a half for them to get me in while break issues worsen. When I show up Christine tells me I have to leave my car over night for the diagnostic. I work nights and that will be a problem; so I asked if I could get a rental and she said there's none available and quips back I could just reschedule my car appointment. Obviously I don't want to wait over a month again, so I took off work. (Thought that waiting all that time, knowing it was break issues, and that they would need it over night; a rental would be set aside..) Later I'm called that I can pick up my car, the same day early like 2pm (could have still made it to work). The tech test drove it, and they told me there is a wobble. (I know) Now they've given me back my car with a verified break/ rotor issue and informed me that they sent my info for review to see if it is covered by the warranty. They don't know how long it will take. I feel like this is very unprofessional and a real safety concern. Tried to call the manager of the service department and another manager said he was at lunch at 130 pm this Friday. As of writing this review; which I really didn't want to, he has not gotten back to me, it's almost 330 now. I even asked several time about the specific VIN number. So set up "VIP" appointment. Faxed credit info and received a call back saying everything was fine. Drove 2.5 hrs to arrive and told the vehicle was not available. I don't think this car was ever on the lot. This is unacceptable business practice. I tried to get info on owner of this dealership but have been unable to obtain that info. I was dealing with the "Sales Manger" not just a salesman. I do not recommend using this dealership. My reasons are as follows; 1. Set an appointment up with one representative only to have that representative switch out at the last minute. 2. We were directed by a manager to a senior saleswoman to look at a specific vehicle. It took 30 minutes to see the specific used vehicle we drove an hour and 15 minutes to view because the saleswoman had us go through paperwork first as if we were going to buy the vehicle first without even seeing it. This was off putting to my wife and I because we wanted to see the vehicle first (to avoid the waste of time if the deal didn't work out). 3. Arguably the most off-putting event was being presented with a non-financial agreement to come to a deal the same day. Essentially the dealership was pushing us to sign an agreement that "gave us permission" to walk from a deal if we couldn't find agreeable terms... why do I need to sign this? I'm going to walk if I don't get the deal I'm aiming for anyway? When challenged, the saleswoman couldn't explain its purpose and had to seek the assistance of a manager. 4. When we finally worked past the "agreement" (We didn't sign it), the saleswoman presented the numbers to us. What she presented for our trade in value was $2,500 less than an appraisal we had received the same week from a Toyota Dealership ($5000-$6000). When we explained to her that this was a deal breaker, she had to again retrieve the manager. The manager then proceeded to "tell" us about how many of this type (07 Toyota Tacoma SR5) were available across the USA and how this one wasn't worth as much because of x, y, z... again, we had literally gotten it appraised at a Toyota dealership the same week with a quote for $5000-$6000). 5. Rather than fight to keep us in the seat and make a deal, the manager simply said I can maybe go to $1000 extra but can't go higher. So we walked. 6. Also, the whole time both the manager and saleswoman were combative with us. Talking in circles and about things which they assumed we had little to no knowledge about. Shame too, that vehicle (17 GMC Sierra 1500) was gorgeous. Anyway, don't go here if you're looking for a quality customer service experience. read more

So nothing to do with the vehicle experience itself. My spouse owns a Kia, but I always come with to wait in the waiting room. But the TV in the waiting room, seriously. Could we please get the front desk to have the remote to change the absurdly loud volume and the annoying sports channel? Not everyone needs or wants to watch sports center (low key toxic male influence at a traditionally male eccentric place). It is so loud that even if we all politely wore our own headphones we wouldn't be able to hear our own media. We can barely hear one another to the point we have to yell at one another (defeating the point of socially distancing and over exerting our voices to keep distance). We all tried to ask the front desk person to change the channel or lower the volume, they replied they didn't have a remote. We tried asking how to turn it off, to which they said there was a light switch that turned off lights and the TV. Then they proceeded to say if you break it, you buy it. So put up a sign that states you shouldn't touch the TV and there's no remote to change volume or channel! I was just blown off for a scheduled appointment for a full diagnostics that was scheduled after a previous visit had shown a catalytic converter issue. Back then, this appointment was scheduled so that a mechanic could perform a complete check. When I came in this morning, they told me that the mechanic had to go out of state and wasn't available. When I questioned why they hadn't called, she said "They don't come in until 8. I didn't have time to call everyone." Well, I was the FIRST appointment that morning with that mechanic. And if the mechanic had had to go out of state, I doubt they didn't know until that very morning! So basically, Casey don't give a damn about wasting their customers time and money! I'll certainly never buy from any Casey dealer or take any vehicle for service there again - and I'd recommend that you not do so either. read more

If you schedule routine maintenance well in advance, service is great. If you have an issue that is not regular maintenance, service is lousy at best. My car is 2 years old, low mileage and I keep having same issues over and over again that should be covered under bumper to bumper warranty, yet told I have to pay for everything . Every time I turn around, warning lights are coming on, many of which are safety related, try to schedule an appointment and they are booked out for several weeks. I raise a fuss and they look at vehicle only to have it happen again and again and they want me to pay for parts that were just replaced. what exactly does bumper to bumper warranty cover, just the bumpers on a Kia ? I have purchased many vehicles from Casey dealerships previously and never had this issue before. Never been asked to pay for parts other than windshield wipers before and certainly did not have issues with same parts having to be replaced multiple times over the course of 2 years on a car that was purchased new with 12 miles on the odometer. After continuously receiving subpar service, and treatment from places like Jiffy Lube, Meineke, etc., I brought my Kia Optima here to Casey Kia for a recall issue, and also had regular maintenance done. I will now only have my car serviced here for now on!! The quality work and service I receive here at Casey Kia is outstanding! Also, there was a part that failed several weeks after I had my car serviced, and without blinking an eye they said bring it in and replaced the part, an expensive one by the way, for free. During this current economic crisis I am happy to support Casey Kia, and there outstanding workforce. read more

They could care less about the customers. Their inventory is low. They will try and bs you into saying it is because they move a lot of cars but the reality is KIA bases the amount of inventory at dealers on good service and quality sales. I came into Kia today to simply look at the Kia Sorrento. Look, not to buy right now just look and possibly test drive. I was completely taken aback by the display of inappropriate conduct this dealership displayed. They kept forcing things on me, trying to get the mileage from my Audi, taking pictures, trying to call my bank, the lady dialed my bank without even telling me. I'm sitting there and she hands me the phone says they need the last 4 of your social. I immediately put a stop to it and asked to simple see the vehicle I wanted to look at. We returned from the test drive and I realized I didn't have my keys, and looked up and a man was getting out of my car. I asked what he was doing and she (Karla) nonchalantly responded with oh "he just took it for a test drive it's fine". Are you nuts!?!? Who told you to touch my car? Who!!?! No one. Not one person who owns that vehicle said go test drive my car, not one. Then we walk inside mind you again I said I wanted to look, I could see the estimate and price sheet for a new car in her hand. These people are insane. This was the worst dealership experience in my entire 34 years of living and I have owned 6 new cars in my life. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect. I was so excited to look at a new SUV today and was so excited to possibly step into one in the future at MY pace, and then this happened, not only am I turned off to KIA now but completely turned off the to this dealership. RUN!! DO NOT GET ANY KIND OF FINANCING HERE! Recently I had purchased a Kia Soul, they whored my credit out to every financial institution they could find. My credit score took a major hit, and the scar is still there a year later. Originally the financing started with Capital One at a crazy interest rate, then a week after I had the Kia Soul I get a call that Capital One had decided not to carry the financing and they were running it through Auto Credit of Virginia at an equally as high interest rate and a bit more. Upon threat of having to turn my Kia Soul in I came in to sign new paperwork on the car. I did end up with the Kia but a lot of pain to get there, I felt that they really had my feet to the fire and at the end it was buy the vehicle or have no transportation. read more

Took our car here for a repair that was under the factory warranty, after getting it diagnosed from a non Kia service department. They claimed that there were NO mechanical or safety issues. Yet after leaving this dealership our car was still making the same noise. They told us it was our non-stock hard rubber tires making the noise. Stopped in to look at the 'bone row' in the used car lot. Everything was overpriced, but that is not unusual for a major dealer. Moved over to new car lot. The Kia Optimas had a side sticker (dealer addendum) for $3899 or some such amount close to $4K for 'market adjustment.' Left the lot and called from home (no one came out and said hello) to ask about $4K. They kept defending the side sticker. Kia vehicles don't really have a reputation for retaining value and I asked how they could justify the side sticker. They kept saying "come back in and pick and car and work with us on the price." read more

I love the Kia brand. The quality is top notch and the 10 year 100k mile warranty can't be beat. This is my second Kia and I have never had to worry about major repairs. I love the free oil changes and inspections for life. I love my powertrain warranty for life as long as I am in this location and continue my maintenance. However, this review isn't focused on the car and warranty, but rather about Casey Kia. There are two personalities to this car store, at least there was when I purchased my car. I ran into the first personality in the sales department, I will start with the bad. I purchased my Kia Niro in 2017. I hated the sales process. The sales supervisor was pushy and used every trick in the book to get a sale. I don't mind tricks being used. I've been in sales and know what to look for. However, he wasn't subtle and just came off as an ass. When I went to sign the final paperwork, the sales manager in the back office advised us that there was no grace period to back out of the purchase. That was a lie and the signs placed in multiple areas of the store confirmed that there was a grace period. In fact, at the time, one of those signs was placed right outside of his office. I almost turned away at that point, but understanding that there is no 3 day grace period offered by law, I decided to overlook the signs. Besides, I wanted my Kia Niro. I will add this caveat, it has been three years since I purchased my car and things may have changed. So, I will only reduce my rating by one star instead of two in the hope that this has changed. Now, for the second personality, the great. The service department has been phenomenal. I am 46-years-old and do not remember a single service agent's name for any of the cars I have purchased.... Until now. Joey has been fantastic. If you want proof, look no further than the fact that I KNOW HIS NAME! When regular services come up, he always works to get everything taken care of that I need (as expected). When I ran into hard times, he focused on the essentials instead pushing everything on me. Instead of letting internet prices for services stay on the bill as is, he always makes sure to remove anything that is supposed to be free. The one time that that I had a major problem with my car, it had to be towed into the shop. It was close to closing time so I called ahead and spoke with Joey. He arranged a loaner and stayed after closing to ensure I was taken care of. The lady who completed the loaner paperwork for me also stayed late to make sure I had a vehicle to drive while my car was being worked on. I wish I could remember her name to add to this review. Joey knows my name, remembers key details about my life that I have mentioned in passing. He knows that I am studying to be a teacher and that I speak Korean (despite the fact that I am a 100% "white boy" from Texas). He knows that I retired from the Army even though I have no stickers or memorabilia on my car. In other words, he knows me. If all he did was maintain the service on my car, he would be another faceless auto service rep. He makes it personal though, and this is where the difference is. For me, the long term relationship is most important. Joey has turned this experience from a poor initial impression into a very positive experience. What a crazy place. I drove almost 3 hours and then was told they already sold the car (I was coming to purchase) when I arrived.

When I arrived to "shop" for my new vehicle I told the salesman I wasn't a fan of pushy sales people and the pressure tactics used by many dealers. He showed the cars I was interested in with manners. When I asked for pricing he acted like he was checking but sent over a finance guy. Ugh. I took their estimates and left for more shopping. At the Honda dealer the salesman gave me an awesome sheet with out the door prices. I was done for the day but I quick stopped by to ask for the same out the door prices on the Kias. My salesman was busy but the same finance manager assured me he would email me by the close of business. Next morning nothing. Text to remind them. Around noon got a call with prices. Still nothing in writing. Day 3 I still had nothing they had promised. I got a phone call from the salesman and informed him I was at a desk purchasing my new vehicle and he asked WHAT!?. I said I will call and explain when I'm done. WITHIN FIVE MINUTES I RECEIVED TWO MORE PHONE CALLS. Even after telling them I was in a meeting. Lying, poor business tactics and not listening to the customer. I will never use or recommend a Casey dealer. I had been warned and wish I had listened. read more

Thank you Kate. I am scheduled tomorrow at 3 pm for monthly service, and an inspection on the transmission. I pray to god casey honors my 2 year warranty with the car and find a solution to the recent problems relating to the transmission. I've been very cordial with the staff here and at the end of the day I've been left with no resolutions other than I'm accountable. This car is my livelihood and I just don't understand for what I'm paying the issues I have encountered. They offered me a measly $200 for my Mini, of which I know they were going to inspect, fix and sell for minimum $8000. The only thing wrong with mine is the headliner, and the amount of mileage the car has, but considering its age.... Anyway... I took a test drive of a used car on the opposite lot, told them I would have to win the lottery, or they would have to do a fair trade. HA! WHAT A FRICKEN JOKE! I even told them that there was no bank in the world that would give me a loan, "oh, we have our own financers" - yeah... so far i have recvd a denial letter from almost every bank in the City of Newport News. I'd like to start by saying this is my favorite dealership by far. This past weekend my car broke down on the way back home to VA from NC and had to have it towed to Casey Kia. My service advisor Katie was great, she made sure to call me daily to let me know what they had done and what they were going to do next as far as inspecting causes for the breakdown.
