Just avoid this dealership. We found the truck we wanted on Facebook Marketplace. The lady who handled the initial online contact was very nice. Because of the reviews I had read on Boditch prior, we were very hesitant to even inquire and shared this with her. I wish I could find this lady so I could share our disappointment was confirmed and sealed as of today! Also note, be careful with their shown price on Marketplace. It will not be the true price. Do not be a sucker like us. Read the tiny print! Because I shared my concerns about the bad reviews it does seem like everyone went out of their way to say hello when we walked into the dealership to buy our truck. Why do I say this? My husband went to today to get our first oil change and our truck detailed (which was a promissory detail from Boditch because they had no detailer on site when we bought out VERY dirty truck). All the windows had slime on them, it was fairly dirty inside and the outside of the truck could have been cleaner. We understood and were excited to get the truck actually cleaned as promised. What a joke! My husband said he walked into the dealership and felt like he could have been a ghost! No one greeted or even acknowledged him! It was reminiscence of the prior reviews we had read! He said it was awful. The detailing was completely SHAMEFUL. Windows untouched, wet puddles of water left on the floor mat and the truck was soaking wet on the outside. A young kid did the work. My husband is going to go outside and clean his windows in his truck for the next 30 mins plus because Boditch cannot back up their promises. We have a dirty truck that should not be that way, period. We should have had a perfectly clean truck and no hard feelings against this dealership! We gave them that opportunity. We truly did!! Did I tell you my husband had to drive an hour and half to get this quality of work done? Hopefully the changed the oil correctly! At minimum, our new truck should have had clean windows! The purchase of the truck... I told them specifically I was not going to pay more than 4.99% interest rate. I assumed they would get that for us considering both my husband and I have 800 plus credit scores. While getting to the home run stretch and filling out the paperwork we were hit with an almost 8% APR. At that point we just accepted it. I also should have EXPECTED it. The finance manager let us down. He never once explained our APR even though I had explained very clearly, nothing over 4.99%. It was slick. It is the finance MAIN job to get the rate you request and deserve! We immediately refinanced our vehicle at 4.62% and got 200 bucks for switching over to Navy credit. MY FAULT, READ THE PAPERWORK!!!Bowditch Ford has always been good to us as a family that has purchased our last 4 cars from them within the last 7 years. My daughter wanted to purchase her 3rd car from them, by herself, which meant taking her name off of my 2024 Bronco Sport and refinancing it. They are VERY short handed there, so I after sitting for hours and watching Casey run around getting stuff done, and me telling him I'm going to be late for my dinner date at 7, he finally came out with refinancing paperwork a little after 7. Sign here, here, here, initial here.... I did, then ran to the restaurant. One month later, I get a late notice. I look up the new finance company online. Guess what... I got screwed big time. After making double payments here and there, I got my original loan down to $16,600. Finance company says that's the dealers are responsible for paying off the loan. AND it was refinanced for a little over $24000. So they made over $8000 on a refinance. WTF. READ THE PAPERWORK. My dad, Bobbie Roland, is probably turning over in his grave. What should have been a straightforward purchase has turned into a massive headache due to a complete lack of transparency and professionalism. ​The primary issue involves a serious breach of contract regarding the vehicle's title. Despite the sale being "finalized," there have been significant delays and complications with the paperwork that the dealership has failed to resolve in a timely manner. When you buy a vehicle--especially a brand-new model--you expect the dealership to have their ducks in a row regarding legal ownership and documentation. ​Furthermore, the customer service after the papers were signed has been non-existent. Calls go unreturned, and nobody seems willing to take accountability for the errors made by their finance and sales departments. I traded in my Ford Ranger 2020 and purchased a Ford Maverick 2025 XL back on May 22nd. My trade payoff has not been paid yet. It has been over 3 months at this point and every time I get in contact with them I am told they will hand the check in person to my credit union and or send it at x date. I've been told this over 3 times in the past 2 months. I am making payments on a vehicle I know longer own as well as a newly purchased vehicle to uphold my credit score. I have contacted them multiple times and there is no resolution so far. I have made a complaint to Ford Customer Service as well as the BBB and will be escalating this matter and am currently seeking legal options, and reporting this to military legal as well to have this remedied. My previous vehicle is still not paid off. they sold the vehicle within one week of me trading it in and the auto loan is still on my bank account. Manager tried to push a $75k "real price" on a handwritten sheet, said online prices "don't apply," then tore it up in front of my wife and me when we refused. Salesman bragged "I know the game" instead of explaining. Classic bait-and-switch, intimidation, and disrespect. BBB gives them a D- for a reason. I am retired and do not drive a lot anymore. I own a 2008 Ford Explorer and it only has 60000 miles on it and it looks new garage kept. I called Bowditch Ford to see if I could bring it in for service today and to check out an issue with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The service person that answered the phone first question was what type of vehicle I had. I told the service person it was a 2008 Ford Explorer, The next question was had I been to Bowditch with my Explorer in the past. I told him I had never been to Bowditch before. The service person informed me that Bowditch would not service my Ford Explorer because it was to old. That Bowditch Ford had a policy of not servicing older Fords that had not been at their dealership before. My plan was to replace this Explorer in the next 12 months. BLUF: DON'T EXPECT YOUR TRADE-INS BALANCE TO BE PAID SOON OR WITHIN THE TIME WINDOW THEY PROVIDE. Unfortunately I can not give stars based on the departments themselves, therefore I am giving 1 star total. Just to Clarify, I give the Sales Department FIVE STARS, especially Samantha Ludwig and her team. They were amazing to work with and took really good care of us. The finance team that was present the evening we purchased our Bronco was great as well, they found us at a better rate than our pre approved and managed to save us some money across the board. My issue now is that we traded in two vehicles, each with a balance due with our previous lender. The balances have yet to be resolved. I was told it would be taken care of within 30 days and not to worry. Due to timing, I had to make payments on those two vehicles for the month of DEC 2024. As of 06 JAN 2025 (Day 28 of 30) the payoffs for these trade-ins have not been made, therefore I am getting ready to make payments on these loans again for the month of JAN 2025. I have tried calling numerous times, have been given multiple numbers, and left messages. I got to speak to one person and was told this issue was not in her wheelhouse and that someone would give me a call back to help resolve the issue. CRICKETS, have not heard back from anyone. Tried calling again today (07 JAN - Day 29 of 30) and all I got was answering machines. Looks like I will be forking over another $1K in payments for vehicles I no longer own. Again, Bowditch sales is amazing, finance and accounting could certainly be better. EDIT 1 - 08 JAN 2025: I finally got through to someone in accounting. They said they would cut the checks and send them over to my previous lender by 13 JAN which will be day 35 of 30 . EDIT 2 -13 JAN 2025: I called back today to follow up and they don't know if the Checks were signed and they have not been mailed. I was told I would get a call back NLT 15 Jan (Day 37 of 30). Unacceptable! Told them I wanted a call back today with a resolution. Let's see if that happens. EDIT 3 - 21 JAN 2025: I did not get a same day call back nor did we get a call on the15th. Called a couple times last week but did not get to speak to anyone, finally got through today and was told management has the checks and they have not been released. Asked what the holdup was, if there was anything I could do, and why they have not been mailed? No answer to any questions. I was told I would get a call back no later than 430P. Day 43 of 30 with no results. EDIT 4 - 22 JAN 2025: I got a call back from Jessica last night. She informed me that the Checks for my trade-ins will be hand delivered to my previous lender. 1 today (22 JAN 2025) and one on Friday (24 JAN 2025). Not sure why they cannot both be done on the same day, but hey, this is progress so I am not going to complain. I was also informed that the accounting manager and the Bowditch Ford General Manager were now taking my issue for action. It appears upper management is now involved so this may help the issue. Day 44 of 30 with positive news. EDIT 5 - 22 JAN 2025: Good news, I checked my loans and one (1) of my trade-ins got paid off today. That is a start. Only took 44 days, 14 beyond what we were told, but hey, it is paid. Waiting on number 2 now. EDIT 6 - 24 JAN 2025: I called accounting today to make sure we were still on track to pay the second trade-in balance today and was assured that the check was going to be hand delivered. I checked the loan status at approximately 330P and it still had not been paid, checked the loan again at 4P with the same results. Tried to call accounting with no answer. Checked the loan again at 430P with the same results, tried to call accounting again with no answer. Checked the loan status again at 5P with the same results. Since the bank closes at 5P the payment is obviously not going to be made today. Will be calling back again on Monday. (today is day 46 of 30, Monday will be day 49 of 30) read more

This was the worst customer service experience I ever had. New to the area and called Ford dealerships in the area to schedule a routine service. They couldn't get me in until the following Saturday. I called 4 days before my appointment to confirm and they couldn't find the appointment in the system. There was no record of it. I always write down the name of who I speak to so the receptionist put me on hold and then transferred me to service. Al was rude, abrupt and disrespectful. He asked me why I was calling again and that he would see me on Saturday. I told him there was no record of the appointment in the system and the receptionist transferred me back. Recently, I received a call from Kelly who is apparently in sales at this dealership. She claimed they just hired a new GSM who was trying to make a name for himself by "getting deals done." We discussed the vehicle that I was interested in and I was very specific in my terms. She stated that she would talk with her manager and sent me a text that they could get to the payment we discussed or lower and would reduce the cost of the vehicle by $1,000 if I would get there that day. Also, they agreed to transport my vehicle back to my home at no charge if I would drive there that day. So, I decided to drive to Newport News, VA which is 9 hours roundtrip and was excited that I would be buying the vehicle that I had been searching for. When I arrived at the dealership, I wasn't greeted by Kelly (who never spoke to me the entire time I was there) but by another person who summoned me to sit with the person who would do the credit application. Once completed, my application was taken to the finance manager. When the gentleman came back with the terms, the deposit was double what was discussed and the payment was $265 higher than what Kelly stated they could do. I explained and showed him the text thread but he said there was no way they could meet those terms. He stated that even though my credit score is above 789, the rate is high and nothing they could do about it and basically the terms presented to me are the terms. I walked out of the dealership in disgust because I had been told anything to get me there in hopes that because I drove so far, I would agree to any terms. The finance manager followed me into the parking lot and stated that he's not sure what happened. I showed him the text thread and the VIP certificate giving me $1,000 off and he acted like he didn't know anything about reducing the price and appeared shocked about her comments about the terms. He offered to drop the payment a small amount to make the deal work but I declined. The next morning I received a condescending text from Kelly basically stating that she was sorry she didn't speak to me but could not believe that I didn't agree to the terms presented to me and how hard they worked for me and the vehicle is a status and how I would be the "recognized Realtor with the big white bronco." I sent a detailed email to the GM, Walter Holmes outlining the timeline of text messages from Kelly and followed up with a phone call to ensure he received the email. He stated that he was reading the email and would call me back. That was almost 48 hours ago and no phone call. Bottom line, I question the integrity of the dealership, there appears to be no accountability for the actions of their sales staff. First I would like to say that I was very disappointed with the service I received from this dealership. At first I thought it was going to be fine, but I was in for a big surprise I tell you! I usually get "The Works" service as it has all the things I needed for this time of service i.e. tire rotation and pressure check. I knew going in that my tires were low and my fluids needs topping off too! I sat there for about an hour at the dealer waiting for my car to get serviced. My car was done in about 40 min during my wait time. When my service got done they drove the car to the bay, but while doing so the technician had the audacity to rev my engine to I guess try and hear the muffler? (It's a 5.0 Mustang BTW) anyways, I got into the car and noticed that my tire pressure was off so I was like okay I'm just going to WAWA because they had free air!!! (WAWA is awesome btw! Land of hoagies I tell yah!) Furthermore, I got back to the house and noticed that my tires weren't even rotated!! Tf?! To put icing on the cake I checked all the fluids and that when I discovered the oil spills on my engine, fluids not topped off (coolant and all) and I'm guessing they did a regular oil change and not the works! I will not be going to this dealer again. I'd rather do it with my incompetent self as I can't even trust them not to leave a drip of my engine. I'm not even mad. I'm livid! Negative 5 star times 10. Worst experience ever!! Made an appoint to look at a vehicle ( Saturday). Agreed to pay full asking price. In the middle of the process we were told they " Just" took a deposit. We had been here for over an hour at this point. We were given the option to still buy it " IF" we agreed to an extended warranty and the interior protection plan. We were not interested in the $5000+ extras they wanted to strong arm someone into buying. Monday I called back and inquired if the vehicle was still available. The exact same salesman said Yes it is!! First come First serve!! I asked if there was a deposit.... No Sir there is not. We do have someone coming this afternoon, however its First come First serve!! I asked for a buyers order and said I will give a deposit and bring the funds for the vehicle. At that point I said vehicle with title tags and taxes is what we are willing to pay. Then the salesman said well the people that are coming later want an extended warranty but we can do the same deal if you are willing to get the extended warranty. I did not want an extended warranty from Ford for a Toyota. The salesman then said well we will have to wait and see what the other couple does first. Also on Saturday the sales manager said he would be willing to take a sale from me and void the other customers deposit if we would do the same deal. To top it off, the next day I was informed that they will not take a deposit over the phone! 2 calls to the General manager and an email, not even a call or follow up email from him. IT IS NOW almost 6 months later and Bowditch ford has seemingly STOLEN my $14,000 dollars!! They cancelled my extended warranties MAY 2 2024. They got the money back from FORD, if I remember correctly 2 days later. The exact dates do not matter as much as the fact that they keep giving me excuses and passing me off as to other people and voice mails, instead of automatically depositing my money into my bank account or the bare minimum sending me a check. I paid cash for the car and the warranties. Bowditch ford still has my money! It is now almost September. After multiple communications with them through email, phone calls, voicemails and text, they keep coming up with excuses. And of course, since Ellie, the financial manager didn't cancel my policy until after she lied to me about having to be there in person, etc. I assume as the delay . She was hoping I would give up I guess. Ellie kept putting me off with excuses. The money that Ford gave the dealership was prorated. So even if and when I can get my money back from the thieves, at Bowditch Ford, it will be less than what I paid. Would you say it is theft? It's looking like I will have to get the police and or lawyers involved! I have tried to be as honest as possible with the numbers and information. Yesterday was probably the craziest day I had in a long time, and possibly the most trying in regards to my patience...UNTIL I GOT HERE. I had been waiting to leave work early to drive to Richmond to see another vehicle I was highly interested in when everything wrong that could possibly happen at work, happened. Didn't end up leaving work until almost 330pm. To make matters worse, I had issues with my bank and had to get all of that fixed. By the time I was ready to go, it was 530pm - too late. I decided to reschedule for the next day and just shop around. I actually Yelp'd and this location came up with great reviews, so I said, why not? Linda caught me as I was circling the lot for the used cars and asked me come inside so she could get some information. I was like, oh man it's a trap...BUT in the end I got a 1.9% interest rate on a brand new 2016 Ford Focus as opposed to a 14.5% on a bank auto loan (I don't have great credit). Somehow, they were able to help me out and get me leaving the lot in an amazing car. I didn't feel any pressure in buying the vehicle and Linda was very honest with me and didn't play any games. She even spoke with my parents on the phone just so everybody was on the same page. I got a good value for my trade-in as well as a rebate and a military discount. I'm 61, retired, and have only owned Ford vehicles my entire life. I have had nothing but good experiences with dealerships until moving here to Virginia. I chose Bowditch Ford because it is closest to my home. I had several bad experiences with the Bowditch Service Department. The last two did it for me. Moving on. Came in for The Works. Service Manager recommended I get a cooling system flush. I agreed. After leaving the dealership and driving 40mins towards home a warning light came on instructing to add coolant. It was pretty much empty. Major Strike One. Next, I came back months later for The Works. The Service Manager this time recommended I replace my oil pan for just over $1000. I sad no. I got home and checked my garage floor. No oil spot. Checked under the truck and no sign of an oil leak. The next morning I started my truck to find a new odd engine noise. Took it back to the dealership. Was diagnosed at bad Cam Phasers. To fix would be $4200. I left pissed. Researched the cause of this new problem. Low oil pressure. Hmmmmm? I ordered the parts under $500. Found a dealership mechanic to do it for $800. Complained to the General Manager. He said thank you for letting him know. read more

I sold a car, the process seemed a bit sloppy from the start and when we asked the finance manager over the phone the status of the payment to the lien holder we got conflicting answers. 15 day payoff was agreement, it's now day 19, bank hasn't received anything. For a dealership that is "desperate for inventory" they don't seem in a hurry to fulfill its part of the sale. I assume that the car will eventually be paid , but since it's past the 15 day payoff quote, they will end up having to send another check which only delays their ability to sell the car. When you work hard to find a vehicle you like and you think you have found a dealership you can partner with and trust..DON'T choose Bowditch. The GM, Chris VanDenheede lied straight to our face and said that he was not able to give us the more than fair Kelly Blue Book because they would have to sell it at auction because the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Excellent (mileage 30948) condition truck had a lift and Bowditch's owner told the GM that he could not give the more than fair Kelly Blue Book price. Less than 4 days later and guess what? Yep, truck is listed on Bowditch website for what we told them they could sell it for, but they assured us they could not because the truck was a liability. Let me start by saying that the dealership is clean and pleasant to go to. Generally. I buy a new Ford every other year. I've recently moved to the area and I've continually had issues with a 2020 explorer ($65k) that I bought in Missouri. The past three encounters I've had with the service department have left me reconsidering ever buying a Ford again. People have their bad days, but literally every single time I call the service department and get the service writer named Al, I just end the call. I don't think I've ever spoken to anyone that is so rude and hateful from the second they answer the phone, and I simply refuse to allow any person to speak to me the way this man does. My service writer is Ken, and though he's dropped the ball and had my car for going on 10 days longer than we agreed, at least he's decent when I call. I'm sad to say, but I definitely won't be using this dealership for anything in the future. Also, the service manager called me at the request of this lady below and he was rude and full of excuses, then threatened to put me in a Ford Focus instead of the car my extended warranty provides. After picking my car up, I found that they damaged my plastic parts during the warranty repair, and the car is now at another dealership because none of the repairs were actually completed. Don't waste your time with anything Bowditch! Only interested in making a sale, not maintaining a relationship. Don't stand behind their work either! Had my 2017 Ford Explorer fixed at the Bowditch Collision Center because they have the Ford dealership. Some of the car repair was actually completed at Bowditch Ford. Total repair just under $20K! We got hit pretty hard, some structural repairs were required. Not exactly the best thing for a fairly new car. I'm still finalizing additional insurance claims with insurance of person who hit me. I made it abundantly clear that I needed to finalize these claims before I could proceed with buying a new car. Staff was more than willing to get me into a test drive (which I did), but helping me to indicate trade-in value, yeah not so much! I've spent a few weeks calling back, talking to now 3 people just trying to get a trade-in value. Basically, they won't put something on paper unless I'm in the process of buying a car. Here's the good part, as for not standing behind their work, they planned to wholesale the car! They don't even want to have it on their lot. They fixed it, but won't put their own determination of value on the car. They contacted the wholesaler to see about getting a price to sell them the car, but the wholesaler said no. When I told them that I would take that explanation for purposes of using with insurance, they wouldn't even put that on a piece of paper or an email. Thanks for the 5-10 minutes of effort to type that up to help me out. Basically, don't waste your time with anything Bowditch! I went to Williamsburg Ford and while they were up front indicating they wouldn't buy the car from me, they put something together for me which indicated a value if the car had a clean accident history and a ballpark estimate of what someone might give as a trade-in. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Repeatedly overcharges, fails to fix things the first time, extremely slow... the list goes on. Met a mechanic who used to work there who told me how they have a personal challenge between each other there to see who can mark up the bill more. The highest mark up wins. THIS is an example of Bowditch. To their credit, they're very nice people. They'll at least smile and treat you nicely as they bend you over. Avoid at all costs. I bought a 2004 F-250 Supercab 8ft bed 4x4 Diesel back in 2003. I just wanted to write that I had my best buying experience there. I've bought over 20 vehicles and recently have purchased a 2014 GT500 from a dealership out in Austin. I still remember that truck with fondness and the great deal I got on it. It was such a good deal that when I sold the truck a year later to another person (obviously truck was in mint condition with only 4k miles) for about $1k less than what I paid for it. Great place to buy a new vehicle. I had considered flying back to get a deal done but I had a trade in that I didn't want to add extra miles to. read more

By far the worst dealership I've ever been to. I have a 2015 mustang ecoboost premium. I got my car towed up there because it died at a red light a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get the car started let alone put my windows up because they were down by the time my car died. I drop the car off Friday at 830am for my appointment. I get a call at 2pm Friday from the same service associate who checked me in and he's asking me where my car is( I told him exactly where the tow dropped it off before leaving the office) and after he finds it he's asking why the windows don't work and why are two panels removed( I explained to him that morning that my windows don't work and that I had to remove the panels to shift into Neutral for the tow and to test my fuses). I decide to go by after I get off work and just as I thought, my car hasn't moved an inch since I dropped it off that morning. So then today just before 1pm I get a call from Bowditch again they're telling me after all that they won't work on my car because " they don't want to touch someone else's repair" ( the two panels that are open). I've been jerked around when asking for a time on my repair and blamed for others incompetence or lack of memory when questioned about the condition of my vehicle. If I could give 0 stars I would!! Bowditch Ford is not a trustworthy dealership. Their service department is the worst. I purchased a brand new car from the years ago, and have NEVER once had a positive experience with the service department. I purchased the extended warranty, too. I had my vehicle in many times for the same problem but they could never figure out what it was and dismissed me. Many phone messages were returned by Al, one of the service advisors. This is an issue that spanned from 2017, to 2019, to 2021. Imagine driving your new car for 70,000 miles with the same horrible sounds and not getting help from the dealership from which you purchased it with an extended warranty. Just an arrogant "I don't have time to deal with you" type of dismissive response. The problem? No one ever thought to inspect the suspension system. Thanks for making buy so many sets of new tires in recent years do to the uneven wear of a faulty suspension. Thank you even more for making me pay more than $1300 for something that should have been covered under warranty when the issue was first brought to your attention. You have ripped me off in so many unique ways. I've owned many Ford's, but I will not return to Bowditch for future vehicle purchase. read more

My Ford Mustang (2004 40th Anniversary) was damaged in transit from Vegas to Newport News by a tarp carelessly pulled hard over her (yes her this car is my BABY) the paint was ruined in so many places and I was devastated. USAA not only came through but so did the wonderful people at the collision center, from Joey to Jacqueline to all the people that painted her back to perfection. I couldn't be HAPPIER with what they did. She goes back in 2 days to be buffed and decals placed back on her and I can't wait to thank them all in person again! I would never go anywhere else and when the day comes that I decide to replace my baby, I shall give my business to Bowditch :-) Thank you all for the great work and customer service you provide! read more
