When they first opened up, the serving sizes were large and the quality of the food was great. However, within a little bit of time, the quality has gone down and the portion sizes have decreased. They have a nice ambiance and really good coffee. The service was good also. I had the eggs Benedict and my husband had eggs and bacon with a side of sausage. The eggs in the Eggs Benedict were way over cooked, more like over hard than poached. The hollandaise sauce tasted more like tartar sauce than hollandaise sauce. It had a lot of yellow mustard in it. The English muffins were really nice (tasted homemade). And the sauce didn't taste bad, just not like it was supposed to. My husband thought the sausage was bland but I thought it was ok. Today we decided to only order appetizers. We had the confit duck wings, rock shrimp, burrata, and house chips and dip. We washed it down with a scotch ale and cream ale. For dessert we had the bourbon pecan cheesecake and expresso martini. The wings were not what we expected. They were very crispy and had very little meat on them. The mumbo sauce was good. The rock shrimp in a chili mayo was exceptional and the pecans gave a nice crunch. The burrata and toast points with marinated tomatoes was very tasty. The chips and chili mayo was surprisingly good. Out of all the appetizers our favorite was the rock shrimp. The cream ale was good but the scotch ale was absolutely delicious. The bourbon pecan cheesecake was divine. The highlight of the meal, which put it over the top, was the chef/owner, Alex Casey, coming by and talking with us for quite a while. He talked about a variety of things to include possibly competing on television. He said he made out of this world expresso martinis, so we had to try it. Our waitress was so great made many fabulous recommendations. We even got to talk to the chef/owner. With that said I had scallops - if you like/love scallops this is a must. Went for brunch with 4 people on Valentines Sunday. Initially service was great but took a turn for the worse. We ordered the Hash, bagel with lox, and eggs breakfast, all of which were just ok. The biggest issue was the appetizers came after the main and only after multiple requests to the server. Our main dishes took longer than 40 min!!! It IS COVID but the restaurant had only about 10 tables occupied and was not busy still our lunch took almost 2 hours. Disappointing service and food. read more

I am hangry and disappointed. I decided to treat myself to an early dinner. This was my first visit and my last. I chose this place based on review and friends suggestion. I went Tuesday at 5:30. The door was open and a sign said Wait to be seated. The dining room was empty. After 2 minutes, I motioned for the bartender. She asked if I wanted a seat at the bar. I said sure and was handed a menu. There was a couple checking out and a man drinking a beer. The bartender brought me water. I ordered a cocktail (it was yummy). And that was it. Never got checked on again. A man came in and sat at the bar. He was clearly a regular. He was greeted by a man who turned out to be the manager. He asked about Happy Hour. They have a happy hour? First I heard of it. When the bartender heard my audible "What?". She said yes, the drink is discounted. No more information. Then he asked about the Tuesday Special. What? No one said anything about that to me. The manager got the regular a beer and took his order. He walked past me three times never once addressing me. I will give the bartender some soak because she was also the waitress in the main dining room. Two families had come in. But when she came back to the bar, nothing. When the manager sat a group in the bar, made them a dirty martini and brought them an appetizer, I was done. I literally flagged down the bartender for my check. I came home to a chicken salad sandwich. I hate to think I received this poor customer service because I was the only person who looked like me there. But that seems to be the most plausible explanation. And if anyone affiliated with the restaurant sees this: 40ish professional black woman in red. Will not go back. Story time! I stumbled upon this restaurant, while looking to see what fredericksburg had to offer. I had no idea the surprise that I was in for. The staff was kind, professional, and approachable. To start, we had the Confit Duck Wings, which had a sweet and smokey flavor and was crispy. Next, my partner had the Pork Chop. Not only was it flavorful, but was paired with garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed mixed vegetables, and drizzle of mumbo sauce. These flavors came together so beautifully. Next, I had the Lomo Saltada. It came with an unthinkable twist. UDON NOODLES. Now, don't knock it until you try it. Every ounce of this meal has flavor. From the tomatoes to the marinated meat. No stone was left unturned resulting in amazing flavor. In terms of beverages, we enjoyed a sweet tea, a berry smash cocktail, and the WORLD FAMOUS Espresso Martini! See below. Trust that you will love it. More than salt and pepper is being used here for sure. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't think to take pictures. Lastly, I ordered the Bourbon Pecan Cheesecake, which I will indulge in soon. I have no doubt that it will be as flavorful and fulfilling as the masterpieces that were served earlier. We made reservations on Tock. When we got to the restaurant, we were told there was a private party so we couldn't sit in the dining area. Appetizers were good. I ordered a Thai entree and at some point the chef came to the table to say they had run out of rice. Apparently the kitchen used all the rice for the private party. Being Asian myself, I am not sure how a kitchen runs out of the basics like rice. Then the chef thought it was fine to offer couscous as an alternative, couscous is not used with Asian food so I declined. Needless to say I will not return here. read more

Not a great start for a new restaurant. I came into a few weeks ago and got the chicken biscuit. It came with a heaping bowl of potatoes and tasted ok. I'm giving them 3 stars for having happy hour on a Saturday and the crab dip was really good. Mixed drinks were also really good and worth the happy hour price. Portions and taste are not worth the price. Burger was dry, thin, small, and didn't really have much flavor. As soon as I started to eat it the burger patty was crumbling. The bun was cold and overpowered the patty. I had a bunch of extra bread on my plate after finishing the burger. The carbonara was a strip of bacon cut up in a small serving of spaghetti. The main entree pasta didn't come with anything extra like bread or side salad. For such a small portion and price I would've expected a little more. Anyway, the waitress was new and said she put it in the register the wrong price and charged me $7.00 instead of the menu price of $6,00. The waitress was very nice but, not trained!! I asked about the mimosa In a jar and she said they're watered down with ice and they weren't doing that today..Sunday!! She said she typed in the wrong Amount in the register?? We got our food at 2:36 And I asked for another mimosa....the waitress came back and said the bartender said "NO". Wow...customer service was a little Neglected!! Just returned from a wonderful lunch at Casey's and I called ahead to ask about getting a catfish sandwich....I was told that they had them, however, when we arrived they were sold out. The chef went out of his way to make us happy by giving us a trout sandwich presented in the same way that the catfish sandwich is presented. It was fabulous and I wish that was an option on the regular menu...our server, John, was beyond helpful in his suggestions and relaying to the chef our disappointment in arriving only to find out they did not have the catfish sandwich. We also tried the Rock Shrimp which was wonderful. We left feeling so "taken care of" in a way that only a hometown restaurant can do....thanks to the chef and the server. read more

Learned about Casey's from a Micah Ecumenical email and decided not to wait for Tuesday's function there. Wasn't disappointed. Got to meet several family members during a relaxed 3 PM early date night dinner. BLT flatbread - very nice!. Smoked scallops - wonderfully tender just like in Digby NS. Trout off the grill..cooked to perfection and topped with a harmony of flavors. What a treat! Made on site banana cake dessert with carmelized walnuts and cointreau caramel ala mode. Can't wait to try the chicken carbonara; something tells me I'm in for a treat. Service was wonderful. Especially appreciated is that Casey's helps the community by sharing revenue each week by hosting a non-profit. The establishment has been redone inside and out. We ate at Casey's for the first time last night, and were absolutely wowed. The food was exceptional --- elegant and yet comforting (probably one of the top burgers we've EVER had), and the service was superb. One of the owners (David) took the time to come to our table several times, and we felt like he really cared about our dining experience and our opinions on the food. Who knew we'd be obsessed with pickled cauliflower! Chef has put together an amazing menu, and the front of the house killed it in every way. (Loved our bartender too). Not only will we be back, but plan to make this one of our regular spots. Well done, five stars without question.
