Pizza-sized pancakes. I'm not sure what else there is to say. The place is definitely a dive which is how I like my breakfast. We sat at the bar which allowed us to watch the chefs in action. They were quite a well orchestrated team. I got the egg sandwich, date for an omelet. Both good. Home fries are the way I like them - cut up into smaller pieces so they can get crispier rather than feeling like it's a huge hunk of potato. Biscuit was fresh and warm. Coffee refilled after. We will be back for the big pancake for sure. Keep in mind it's definitely a diner. The building and decor are not fancy by any stretch. That's how I like it. Stopped here for breakfast since it's right next to the Fredericksburg National cemetery and Maryes Heights. We got basic omelets and bacon and sausage. It would have been only average if the food wasn't overly salty. When I paid the bill they just ran the bill without allowing a tip. I was told to venmo the tip. I did. It's stupid. Some will not .... because it's stupid ... especially if your dinners think the food wasn't worth it. The service was fine though. read more

My sister and I saw a video of the huge pancake on social media and thought we'd give it a try. It's right across from the Fredericksburg National Cemetery (battlefield), so we could make an afternoon of it. It was a fun experience! The big pancake was tasty, as was sausage, egg and cheese biscuit I ate. My sister was happy with her omelet and we got a big pizza box to take our pancake home, which we barely dented. Very cute "local" establishment which is a stones throw from the Fredericksburg National Battlefield. Service was excellent and breakfast was reasonably priced. The food came out quickly. The Mrs. ordered eggs (2), bacon, home fries and pancakes. The server as if she wanted a large pancake or smaller ones. She ordered "smaller." I ordered the biscuits with sausage gravy, home fries and eggs (2) over easy. We saw the server delivering a large pancake to a nearby table. LOL It must have been a minimum of 12"!!! Crazy big. Both choices were $13.99. Keep in mind, that includes coffee so we thought the prices were very reasonable. We both enjoyed it a lot. After that big breakfast, no lunch was required. Heard about this place for a while and finally stopped in on a weekday morning... Service was great! The place is like an old style, neighborhood diner... I definitely loved the vibe. The menu is loaded with all the normal breakfast and lunch items you'd expect from an American-style (not Greek) diner. Prices are very reasonable too! But take cash for the tip, as they don't add tips to their credit card receipts. I tried their corned beef hash omelet and found it interesting to learn that they make 2 or 3 egg omelets, and the ask you which you want when you order... I've never seen this before, but I liked it... having a choice is nice when deciding how big your omelet will be! I also ordered a cup of sausage gravy with it, as it came with a biscuit. The omelet was really good! Their house-made shredded potatoes were excellent, especially with onions added! And their sausage gravy was great! The biscuit was also perfectly done. In all, this was a really nice, tasty breakfast!! Highly recommend stopping in!! Plus - you never know who you might see here... A recent national celebrity was there the morning I went... Charming classic diner near downtown Fredericksburg - a bit of a dive but that's what made it charming. Biggest pancakes I've ever seen in my life - literally the size of a serving platter! We had lunch - I appreciated that their tuna salad wasn't full of mayo amd the blt was excellent. Service was quick and friendly. The only weird part was they don't accept tips on credit cards so either cash or app payments to the server like venmo, paypal etc. We use none of those apps and do not carry cash so be aware if you are a first timer like us. read more

I used to go here when I was a kid but for some unknown reason I stopped. I was getting ready for a ride and decided to stop by and get some breakfast. What a great decision. The staff was friendly and engaged with the patrons. I ordered the standard breakfast. The prices were competitive with other places. The cook brought out the biggest pancake ever because it just came off the griddle and he wanted me to get it hot. Seconds later the rest came. Everything was delicious. We love Battlefield. The coffee is great and breakfast until 1 PM or longer is great! Battlefield is open until 2 PM and reopens at 4 PM for dinner, but we do love brunch there. This is a place my family has been eating at for years. It was my first time and it is definitely a local place. The menus are a bit tattered but the food was typical diner food. I had scrambled eggs, toast and sliced tomatoes. It was good, tomatoes could have been a bit more ripe. We also had biscuits and gravy and eggs and pancakes. We ate it all and several cups of coffee. It is right in front of the battlefields, thus the name. I had the single biscuit with country sausage gravy and a side of over easy eggs-grits are also included. The eggs were one to perfection and the sausage gravy with biscuit was awesome. Not as good as mine but really good and I didn't have to cook it. The other order was scrambled eggs (not liquid stuff - real cracked eggs), hash browns, two sausage patties and a biscuit. Again, no complaints. Two iced teas, free refills of course. Our waitress was so nice and we had a bit of local customer entertainment. Some people just use their outside voice all the time. So much fun eating breakfast and learning/hearing exact movie lines repeated. Prices were so reasonable. I would definitely come back here again. Cheap food, good food, friendly waitresses, eclectic. I honestly don't understand the hype. The food served here is literally nothing more than what the average person can whip up in their own kitchen at a fraction of the cost. The cheese in my eggs was still clumpy from lack of cooking it thoroughly enough to melt. The toast came with cold butter and because the toast wasn't hot the butter had to be scraped on and stayed pretty damn solid. The food was completely underseasoned.
