Metro diner was introduced to me on a quick weekend trip and I had a good feeling about it solely off of how busy it was which isn't a bad thing. Business may be booming but they get you in and out quick without suffering the quality of their food. Chicken and waffles was what was recommended and the flavor was on point seasoned to a tee; the hash browns didn't disappoint neither. Their mimosa flight was solid, almost wanted another one but I had to behave honestly. Overall the atmosphere was really homey of course and Id love to make another trip soon. read more

This is my favorite diner to get breakfast food! Since they closed the one in Richmond, on my way back home from going out of town; I remembered metro diner was in the area and we stopped by to get some food. It was exactly how I remembered it! There was a small wait, it gets really busy in the mornings. We sat down maybe after 20 minutes. Got the mimosa flight and some chicken and waffles with hash browns. The waffles are sooo good and I love the strawberry butter they put on top. Chicken was cooked perfectly and tasted great! It really reminds me of an old school family owned diner and I always feel comfortable there. I'm so glad I am reunited with this gem. I thought it was ok - I had the avocado toast with eggs which it was a simple breakfast so it's hard to judge off that but I liked the seasonal pumpkin waffle so that was good. It's a decent clean breakfast place with lots of options. read more

I need to give Metro Diner a five star review. Just stopped in for a Christmas Eve day brunch with family. It's great to go in and be texted when you are next to be seated. The is greatly appreciated especially with Covid protocols in place and so many people traveling. We were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately. Our waiter was efficient, professional and friendly. Our drinks were served immediately and we were surprised at how quickly our food arrived. A combination of bacon and cheese omelet, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, eggs, waffles and fruit. What a nice mid noon meal. The plating and taste of all the food was as perfect as could be. The biscuits actually tasted homemade and freshly out of the oven. The atmosphere with all the diners was filled with friendly banter and so many smiles towards strangers brought thoughts of holiday spirit. I put the wrong address in maps and ended up here for dinner on 5/15. I took advantage of the breakfast all day. I had a hard time deciding because everything looked bomb. I ended up going with the chicken Benedict and the special, which was a short stack of the banana pudding pancakes. Everything was delicious but the pancakes were AMAZING!!!!! Great food consistantly. Only issue is that the "metro to go" lane is in the pathway of the diners booths so there is a constant flow of door dash types that are either passing the tables or literally leaning on the booth that I was sitting in. The food here is always delicious but they need to move the pick up station away from diners as they are eating. Its not sanitary to have people constantly walking past the diners food. It seems that they could set up the pickup station towards the back of the restaurant. read more

Perfection. That's the best way to sum up our experience. The place was very clean and not crowded and spacious. Everyone was friendly and inviting. The waitress was wonderful even offering to customize my wife's order making sure she got exactly what she wanted. The food was excellent. It was the best eggs Benedict I have had in years. The croissant French toast tasted great as well. My wife commented the eggs and bacon were great as was the hazelnut coffee. The entire experience was a great start to our day. Horrible service!!! Came in at approximately 1:00 pm on a Sunday. Wait time was about 15 minutes, not bad. Once seated, the waitress, Chelsea S, took the order, brought drinks and disappeared. About 30 minutes later she said that the food is coming. Another 20 minutes later she was nowhere to be found. I asked the hostess to look for her since we did not get our food. The hostess used an excuse to explain the delay by telling us that the kitchen is busy. Unfortunately, other customers that came in after us already received their orders and were finishing eating. Keep in mind that we ordered 2 breakfasts, nothing complicated. Eventually the food was delivered. It was cold!!! The butter wouldn't melt on the toast. It means that the food was ready, but she forgot about the customers. At this time the restaurant was no longer busy. The diner was a cute establishment. Started with poutine fries the gravy was really flavorful and the fries were deliciously seasoned. The cheese curds varies in size some were stick. Was in town and stopped by for brunch on a Saturday. It was packed - 35 minute wait, but tables turned efficiently. The girl at reception was very kind and knew we were hungry, rushed us to a table as quickly as possible. Our server was friendly and efficient. We ordered three things. 1) Spicy honey chicken sandwich 2) Charleston shrimp and grits 3) Iron City meatloaf. The spicy chicken sandwich was very flavorful and tender. It was served with your choice in sides. The shrimp and grits were spot on. It was topped with cheese, roasted red peppers, andouille sausage, green onions, shrimp and chopped bacon. What I really wanted was the chicken and waffles, but it's literally half of a chicken, fried, and had more calories than I'm trying to eat in an entire day. So Bride and I actually decided that we would both have the same thing for once- a spicy honey chicken sandwich with a side of seasonal fruit, and coffee. Our waitress, Danielle, was amazing- friendly and welcomingshe gave us the tip that there's also a spicy honey chicken *biscuit*, which I was totally going to get until she mentioned that the other difference is that the sandwich comes with a slice of tomato, but the biscuit doesn't. The coffee is their own house blend- medium roast and delicious. Drinkable black, which isn't always the case with diner coffee. The sandwich itself was a pretty standard brioche bun, which I elected not to eat, with two amazing fried chicken tenders on it, so crispy and juicy and good! And the sauce... O! the sauce! Sweet and slightly spicy, if they sold it, I would have paid cash money on the spot for a bottle. As it is, I'm probably going to spend a few weeks trying to figure it out. The pickle spears were ideal- crisp, cool, and garlicky. The seasonal fruit was a nice mixture of cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, strawberries and red grapes. We would have been happy to stop there, but when my Bride went to wash the sauce off her delicate paws, she noticed that the specials board announced a lemon-blueberry bread pudding. You know we had to! We split one, which was smart and responsible, but my heart cries out for the loss of the other half. This delightful feast, accompanied by a cornucopia of classic rock on the Muzak, was $38.34, including tax but not tip. Metro Diner We visited the Metro Diner on two recent occasions, for lunch and for breakfast. Lunch was on a Thursday, just before noon. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but filled up quickly. Our server was quick and attentive. Our orders of fish-n-chips and the fried chicken sandwich were served piping hot and fresh. The chicken sandwich was definitely the star of the show. The fish was OK, but was not the typical beer-batter that I am accustomed. Breakfast was on a Monday, just after 8 am. Even though they had just opened, it was already busy. Our server was prompt and immediately brought out our coffee and water. The chicken Benedict was tasty, easily large enough for two people. Biscuits and gravy come with hash browns and two eggs, also a very tasty meal. A short stack of pancakes topped off the excellent morning fare. Debra was our server and she was fantastic - our drink and food orders were taken quickly and food followed not long after. I thought I was going 'lite' with just doing toast, 2 eggs and home fries(most of the menu had larger offerings), but I could only eat about half - extremely tasty and filled my belly. Warm and inviting atmosphere, great food smells, people enjoying themselves, and a friendly hostess. I ordered the house special Reuben and well done fries. My server was very friendly, gave frequent checks and provided fresh sweet iced tea without my asking; that raises the tip percentage ... I had the house made bread pudding which was delish! This is a great spo t for a quick meal. It is good for singles, couples & families. The food here is very good. It's not like typical diner food. It's more like restaurant quality & I believe they have a chef working there, rather than short order cook. I feel the prices are a bit on the high side for a diner, but then the food is much better & I don't mind paying a little more once in a while. My husband & I used to go regularly because we loved their Reubens & it's difficult to find a place that actually grills their Reubens, rather than putting them on toast. The last couple of times we went, they no longer had Reubens on the menu, which was a big disappointment. We used to go there specifically for their Reubens because they were so good. That said, their food is tasty & cooked to order. They've always been flexible with letting us change out items on full meals, like exchanging the fries for vegetables. I'd recommend Metro Diner to anyone wanting to get a quick bite to eat, or to linger longer for a slower paced meal. They offer a nice variety of choices. They also offer beer & wine. I believe I've seen occasional special mixed drinks, like Margaritas, but am not positive because I've never ordered one & it's been a while.
