Been a customer for a while and today was worse than the Pandemic.. You have lost a customer.. To start the staple snapper soup was watered down and sour.. The chopped salad seemed to be out of a bag with little to no tomatoes no onions bacon, not sure and the blue cheese dressing was basically sour cream with some kind of cheese.. on top of the poor food quality the service was awful with no efforts from the waitress to at least make the deficiencies more palatable.. There is no excuses for this venue even with the current situation.. Save your money, go buy and cook your own food as it will be cheaper and the quality plus service would be on you.. read more

It seems fitting, that on the eve of my exodus from Newtown Square, I would finally step foot in the Restraunt closest to my apartment. It is also fitting, that I would do so to celebrate the settlement of my new home in Folsom. I felt that I was a man of the suburbs, but on perusing the previous reviews of Caseys, I discovered that the Upper Darby and Berwyn Caseys are all part of a chain. I just thought it was a popular restraunt name! How embarrassing! I don't know why I never had the desire to go to Caseys (Newtown Square). For one, I'm not a seafood fan, and Id heard from others ( my father is apparently a fan) that they had good seafood. I'm also a creature of habit. I work at a restraunt and don't go out to them in my free time often and when I do, id rather pay for what I know is good and what I know Id like. Either way, I had to snicker when I breached its doorway, that I was finally trying it. I must also admit, that I wouldn't have , if not for my Real estate Agent Bernie, offering to take me out , to celebrate the settlement. His treat, his choice and he was apparently a fan of Caseys as well. Part of me hoped that it wasn't a great experience, so that I wouldn't feel like I missed out on anything. Another thing I noticed, from reading existing reviews, was that it got bad reviews, often saying that, "..it used to be better". This wouldn't be a problem for me , as Id had nothing to compare it to. Id always imagined what it looked like inside, from just passing by. It was pretty much what I expected. Nicer than a diner but not too fancy. I loved the menu, which took old routes and stations from the area. The Broomall, the Edgemont, The Paoli. Nice little touch for the local in me. Bernie chose Caseys because he claimed that the crab cakes were to die for. He ordered some kind of crab cake on toast , which looked good , but again, I'm not a seafood lover. I may have been in a different place, but my go-to dishes never waver. I got the Reuben ( had it been after 5 I would have ordered meatloaf...thats how I roll!). Sadly, I cant remember the "town" that I ordered but that Reuben was one of the best Id had in a long while. It was open faced and just tasty as hell. The service was decent.Our drinks were refilled, she was friendly and the whole meal didn't take long. While I was impressed by both the place and my meal, I don't feel too discouraged that I can no longer walk here anymore, although I wish I had given it a shot now and then in my 12 year Marple tenure. Bernie and I parted ways, and as much as I liked the guy, I hope I wont have the need for a Real Estate Agent anytime soon. I have not turned the page on Newtown Square completely. 2 doors down from Caseys is THE best hoagie at A Cut Above, nearby is my favorite corner store Luigi and Giovanni and now I have a great place to grab a Reuben and a beer in Caseys. My husband and I decided to try this place again even though we really didn't like it the last time we went a few years ago. The menu is varied and looks great. For starters we took the waitress' suggestion and ordered the muscles in red sauce. They were simply awful, undercooked and fishy tasting. When asked how we liked them we were honest with the waitress who returned them to the kitchen. Good news is they were removed from the bill. For the main course my husband had the penne puttanesca, which he often orders out. I'm not sure how they managed it, but the pasta was truly tasteless! One good thing is that the pasta itself was not overcooked. I had blackened salmon, which I ordered medium rare. It was like shoe leather. For dessert my husband had bread pudding, or should I say day old bread with a thin sauce poured on top. At this point we weren't surprised. From what I've been told, if you go there stick to the sandwich and burger menus. As for us, we'd rather eat at home. read more

I've probably eaten at Casey's twenty times over the years and generally have been pleased with the consistent quality of the food and service but what I got last night was not good on several levels. The tone was set early when I ordered my drink (Diet Coke with lemon), it arrived with no lemon and something floating in the soda, not sure what it was but it looked like a piece of plastic... Before my dinner arrived I got up to use the restroom and while in there, I witnessed the busboy that was working my section of the restaurant exit the bathroom's only stall and quickly exit the bathroom without washing his hands (there is a sign above the sink instructing all employees to wash their hands). Luckily this gentleman didn't deliver any food to my table because if he had I would have sent it back! That's nasty!!! He did however bus our table when we were done eating. Hopefully he wasn't handling any food back in the kitchen... For dinner I ordered the black & blue salad, it's a tossed salad with balsamic dressing, blue cheese, and topped with sliced blackened sirloin, I was asked how I wanted my steak cooked, I ordered medium rare. What I got instead was well done steak which was dry and cool to the touch which leads me to believe that it had been sitting for a while. I've ordered that salad a bunch of times, this is the first time I didn't enjoy it. We ordered off the kids menu for my children, it's a nice selection of entrees and very reasonably priced but the selections we made were just brutal. We ordered the cheese flatbread and the macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese is straight out of the box (not homemade), I'm thinking Kraft macaroni and cheese. The cheese flat bread was just ridiculous and tasted horrible. What we were expecting was a flat bread pizza, but what we got was this floppy rectangular shaped, flour tortilla looking thing that had a dab of bad marinara sauce smeared on it and a bunch of mozzarella cheese melted on top. It might have been microwaved because it was completely soft and floppy, not crisp, and when I checked the underside, it didn't look like it was baked or toasted. My kids wanted no part of it and they'll usually eat anything that slightly resembles pizza. The other two folks in my group didn't have any issues, they ordered a steak special and a crab cake sandwich and they were both very pleased. I'm hoping what I experienced tonight was an aberration or just a bad night for Casey's because I've always enjoyed going there. read more

Late lunch on a Friday, our waitress Noelle was friendly and a pleasure. Our drinks, martini's were very good. The pomegranate blueberry martini is what I ordered. I had two, not consistent. The color and taste were different. A little surprised since it's on their cocktail menu. I ordered the margherita flatbread, it was good, but very small. The other people in the group ordered shrimp tacos and lobster roll, they said it was delicious and good portions. Well worth it! So three stars is for the inconsistency of the cocktail and small portion of flatbread. I would give the waitress five stars! read more

This is stepped up bar food, done pretty well. But every time I think about going there, I remember that they have those awful coated fries (like at burger king) and then I go somewhere else. PLEASE CHANGE the FRIES! Steak fries would be the perfect fit for this place but any other kind of fries (except for curly) would do. I don't know if those coated fries are cheaper or last longer in the freezer or what but they're terrible and I never frequent (nor recommend to friends) any restaurant that serves them. Other than that, the place is cozy, comfortable, and kid friendly with a friendly and attentive staff. Its the kind of place I'd go for reasonable prime rib (with steak fries) or butterfly shrimp, or maybe a burger for lunch. But I won't go back until they change the fries. And worse, when I complained to the captain who has seen me coming in for years he didn't seem to care. Casey's is a good, family friendly restaurant, and a nice place to go to if you would like to be a bar regular. They have a pretty big menu, but fish seems to be the best choice when going there. I always had food that tastes fresh, and never had bad time. My favorite thing on the menu is their French Onion Soup. It has been consistent for me for at least 10 years, and is one of my more favorite versions of the soup. Their prices are a little high, but they do have sandwich and salad choices. Plenty of appetizers to choose from, and never had an impolite server. If you want to just enjoy an easy, casual dining experience this is a good choice to go to. read more

Casey's is a Newtown Square mainstay. Its a family friendly restaurant and simultaneously a haunt for an array of regular bar flies. The staff is curt but friendly, and the bar is cozy. They've gone through a renovation in the past year or so that opened up the floor plan a bit and the addition of another television actually turned it into a better place to catch a game than was previously so. Its charming interior is a time capsule for Newtown Square circa 1950, and the bar is set to resemble a trolly car. The snapper soup is a go-to if you're not in the mood for a whole entree. As a seafood place its not the best, but still decent. A good bell-weather of a seafood place is the crab cakes and oyster selection. The crab cake was alright, good for a sandwich perhaps. There were no raw oysters on the menu when I was there, though there was a fried oyster app. The portions were decent and the draught beer selection was sufficient for a suburban surf and turf place. Plenty of comfort food options like burgers, sandwiches, meatloaf, and pot-pie. The Roast beef sandwich (the Newtown Square) was generously piled and pretty tasty. My dad lives out here so I've joined him for a late-night pint a number of times when I visit, and in general it's a good quiet spot if you want a bartender that's easy to strike a conversation with and a mature crowd whose average age is mid-forties. read more

When I lived in the area, I would meet a buddy of mine here for beers every Thursday after work. Typical bar and typical food. We went Thursdays because the bartender was awesome. This was when it was Casey's Seafood and Grille or whatever. I know they recently changed the name to the Public House. Do not get your hopes up if you are looking for seafood. Steer clear of the Crab Imperial. Not sure what it is exactly, but it sucks. It looks like a crab milkshake. I was there a few months ago on a Saturday night for dinner with a friend who lives in the area. The crowd there tends to be older, so we went at 8pm because it is usually cleared out by then. We both had the burger. It was actually decent, but i am pretty sure they dont know the difference between medium well and well done. We did sit at the bar. The bartenders were some what hospitable. I am not looking for their life stories but have a personality. Recommendation: Come here if you want a burger and a domestic beer. There is nothing spectacular. read more

Post covid, bread was stale, calamari was over fried and hard, and what was my favorite Chicken Chesapeake was tasteless. I eat anything, but this was a huge disappointment. As regulars, we know the food here is not so great and the service can be a little unfriendly. However, it has been a consistent quick go to for our family for years. Last night was the worst. Wiatress Penny could have cared less and was flippant and rude. Shrimp Cesar Salad had been waiting under the heat lamp long enough to be limp and dried out. Baked potato and mashed potatoes were stone cold. Raw oysters were warm and sandy! We will find another "go to" place! So sad. read more

Great place, a staple of Newtown Square great atmosphere for the whole family, the menu has good variety, and the food is great, beer is cold what more could you ask for. The first Friday night if every month there is live entertainment, Rob is a very talented one man band, he packs the house with his following so you may want to call ahead for reservations on the first Friday of the month. Over all a great experience the owner is always on location and making sure everyone is satisfied, would recommend to everyone. read more

I dined at this restaurant on Friday night. Service was so slow. Food was great. I was very concerned because out the end of our meal my friend gave her credit card to pay for her food and then left to go to the bathroom .I didn't know if she received her credit card back. The waitress handed me two credit cards with two different names on it .Either one being my friends .I told her and then she came back and tried to hand me the same two credit cards again! Had delicious french onion soup & 1/2 a chicken salad sandwich on rye (the chicken wasn't shredded & it was a bit dry but I figured that had a bit to do w/me requesting toasted bread). I didn't expect the best meal of my life, but I really did expect better. My fiance ordered wings and I the boneless nuggets. The wing sauce had so much butter that I couldn't taste anything else. My nuggets were so hard and difficult to chew. I barely made it through half of them and couldn't eat any more because I felt sick - and I hadn't even eaten that much! I stopped in here for a fast bite between two work events and had a turkey club with fries on wheat. It was an ok sandwich, nothing to write home about and the fries were of the frozen ilk. Like other Casey's the place was decorated in dark woods and has that bar/saloon feel. Service is ok though not particularly friendly. Had an awful meal there last Tuesday night! For starters, the bartender has no idea how to make a simple cosmopolitan (all he did was vodka and cranberry). Then, my friend, who is gluten free, had several questions about the GF items identified on the menu and the waitress had no clue! When she left several times to ask the chef she kept coming back and saying things weren't GF (even though they were identified as GF on the menu), but she had no idea why. My friend finally ordered the GF chicken parm with broccoli rabe and even commented on how much she looked forward to the broccoli rabe part. I ordered the shrimp risotto special. Place was very slow, yet it took over 1/2 hour for the entrees to arrive and when they did they were terrible - apparently, they were out of broccoli rabe but the waitress never told us until she brought out the dry chicken breast covered in cheese alone on the plate, along with my coagulated risotto with exceptionally dry (almost to the point of disintegration!) shrimp. She offered to comp my friend's meal but not mine, even though my friend choked down her chicken, but I barely touched my dish. Thank God for the good company of my friend. We both went home hungry that night, and each paid over $24.00 ( for 1 drink each and 1 entree???) for the privilege!! Never again!! read more

Food & service where perfect! I wanted to find a place to watch the eagles game and relax. The crowd was great also.

Nice ale house type restaurant interior. The snapper soup lacked actual snapper! The French onion soup on the other hand was was an improvement. I had the roast pork with provolone and long fried hots. They lied...they weren't hot. My wife had the Blackened Chicken which was a little dry and spicier than the hot pepper on my pork sandwich. The total bill for the two of us 1 cup snapper 1 french onion 1 pork sandwich 1 blackened chicken sandwich 1 draft beer 1 glass of wine was 43 dollars. I tad ffor the quality. This is my first time at Casey's, it is a convenient location for meeting some high school buddies. No complaints, the atmosphere was pleasant, the food is very good. I had the Italian Roast Beef sandwish, yummy. All of my friends were commenting on the good food. Casey's will be our meeting place moving forward. The wait staff was on top of our things, but not on top of us. My only small issue was the parking, a little too crowded for Monday lunchtime. read more

Went here for a few happy hours after work. Food has always been good. Service could be better. This past visit was a little too WTF for me to go back. We had a group of people sitting at high tops in the bar area with people joining in as they finished work. We attempted to pull 2 chairs from the mostly empty bar (there were 12 open seats...I counted) and the bartender yells at us for taking a chair. People left to allow others to sit down. I stand for 30-40 minutes with the bar getting more and more empty and still was not permitted to use a chair. Finally, a level-headed employee must have realized how ridiculous the situation was and brought one over for me. I could have understood if the bar had been crowded but making a paying customer stand when there are plenty of empty seats is just moronic to me if you want to keep people coming. I love this place. Laid back, comfortable atmosphere. Clean and updated. Nothing fancy. Menu is extensive...and admittedly not every dish is five stars. But the place just has a great easy going neighborhood feel. Service is consistently good. Corned beef Reuben, French onion soup, and Cajun chicken pasta are some favorites....and the fried pickles (so good)....keep coming back here because once you find what you love, it's just like being at home. read more
