We stopped by Zephyr Cove for breakfast and, at first, the experience was fine. They were out of blueberries and several other menu items we requested, which was disappointing, but the food itself was decent. The real problems started when it came time to pay. We were given our bill and placed our credit card down. One server took the card, processed the payment, and returned it for us to sign. A short time later, another employee approached and asked for my husband's card again, claiming the payment hadn't gone through. Later, when I checked our credit card account, the charge appeared twice. We were assured the duplicate charge would be removed, but it still hasn't been, so we'll now have to spend time contacting the restaurant to resolve it. Unfortunately, things got even worse after breakfast. After spending more than $100, we stepped outside, grabbed our sunglasses from the car, and planned to take a quick five-minute walk to look at a boat by the lake. As I was putting things away in the car, a golf cart came speeding toward me and stopped abruptly, nearly hitting me. The driver immediately began yelling that we needed to move our car because we were not restaurant customers. I explained that we had literally just finished breakfast there and had spent over $100. His response was, "We don't care, you need to get your car out of here." I told him there was no reason to drive a golf cart at me or speak to me that way. A simple, polite conversation would have been sufficient. At that point, my husband and I decided to leave. Between the duplicate charge and the aggressive, disrespectful treatment afterward, it turned what had been a decent breakfast into a terrible experience. We will not be returning and cannot recommend Zephyr Cove based on our experience. read more

Zack gave poor service and the food really disappointed. He was too busy horse-playing with the other 2 guys working to notice we were waiting to order, or that we needed silverware, or that the ice tea needed refilling. The joking going on with these 3 staff members was so loud we had to stop our conversations more than once. He never offered dessert but just gave us our checks. We asked what was for dessert and he claimed he didn't know (?) but had to go into the kitchen and check. He then forgot about us. My grilled cheese had so much cheese I was spitting some out. HOWEVER... upon being seated by a sweet, young girl named Valentina, a large bald man named Vicente came out to yell at her for seating us because he'd told her not to seat anyone for 10 minutes, and when she said, "ok" he continued to reprimand her VERY loudly in front of all the customers throughout our entire time there! It ruined the ambiance. I almost felt guilty for being there. I've never felt so unwelcome in any establishment or so badly for a hostess in my life! He has no business being in management. If you need to talk to your staff, do it quietly and not in front of customers. read more

I wanted to like this place because the food was actually good, but the service completely ruined the experience. The waiter, Vicente, was incredibly rude--not just to us, but also to the other employees. He spoke to them disrespectfully, which made the whole atmosphere uncomfortable. While we were there, he also got into an argument with another customer, so it wasn't just our table that experienced poor service. He seemed to be in such a rush to take our order that he missed one of our items entirely. Instead of making the experience feel welcoming, it felt like we were being hurried through our meal. If Vicente is a manager, I don't think he's setting a good example for the rest of the staff. The food deserves credit because it was genuinely enjoyable, but the service from him was disappointing enough that it overshadowed the meal. No customer or employee should have to deal with the attitude Vicente displayed during our visit. I hope management addresses this, because the restaurant has great food and deserves service that matches its quality. read more

I don't even know where to begin. We sat up at the bar hoping to order togo food and first got ignored for a while and then after we saw the bartender and asked to order togo. He proceeded to ignore the rest of the group that needed to order a side after being incredibly rude while taking our order and saying he's very busy. then the poor gentlemen next to us also got ignored for 15 minutes after getting his drink and he wanted to eat but ended up having to order togo by the time the bartender came back to decide to take care of us. He was short, curt and, very rude. After having to wait to place the rest of our order we talked to another worker who said this restaurant has no manager we could speak to over this awful experience. Would've left but unfortunately already ordered togo. DO NOT come here unless you want to wait for 30min + and to be treated rudely. read more

We came right when they opened as i was concerned of busy parking. It was 8am and we were one of the first batch of customers. At 9am more diners came mostly families. There's 2 sides to park and it can accommodate about 8 cars. Come early as it can get packed! There's also $12 all day parking by MS Dixie if you are staying for the day and it's just a few meter walk away from this restaurant. Place was clean and bright. Lovely and naturally lit cabin. The young man greeted us nicely and an older heavy set dude was not as friendly but not too bad, though not as nice as the younger waiters. He just needed to maybe smile and relax and not hurry up. People are there to relax, let them! Food was great--nothing extraordinary, menu is simple and straightforward. Service was fast and we headed out to take our Tahoe walks just like any other weekend. It is a great place to be in when you are around Tahoe area. For the price of 2 people, we paid about $ $60 including the tax. Pricey but it's touristed area and a lovely summers day! Great location, cute cozy style restaurant but lacking food! We went on Thanksgiving night, we got there at 5pm. Lots of families but not packed. We had made a reservation a few days before. We are not quite Thanksgiving food fans so we opted to eat out. It was me and my sister and my nephew so not a big party. Upon an entry, the host sat down, gave my nephew, a coloring page and Kids menu. We were not given a menu. We just sat there. And sat there. We noticed that the waitress was pretty much working alone besides someone dropping off food. It would've been better if the hostess handed out menus.. By the time the waitress came to us She asked us if we wanted Thanksgiving meal. We did not know what was on it or other choices. She then got us a menu. Leaving us to review the menu for another 10 minutes. We ordered hot cocoa, as it was really cold outside. The hot cocoa was not hot very lukewarm if you call it that. My nephew liked his grilled cheese and fries. My classic burger was so so the fries were great My sister's French dip was also so so We would probably only return if we went out to drinks for a nice view. We stopped at Zephyr Cove for lunch and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Our waiter was very serious and didn't offer much in the way of friendliness or hospitality. While the service was adequate, there were no pleasantries that made us feel welcome. I ordered the steak sandwich, expecting sliced steak, but it turned out to be shredded beef. The bun was over-toasted to the point that it was difficult to eat, and the horseradish slaw was piled on so heavily there was enough for another sandwich. My son ordered the Classic BLT. The sourdough bread was also over-toasted, making it so hard that it actually hurt your mouth while eating. The sandwich came with only two strips of bacon, which was disappointing. A BLT should have at least four strips so the bacon is the star of the sandwich. Overall, the meal didn't meet our expectations. Zephyr Cove is a beautiful place to visit, but based on our experience, the food left a lot to be desired. read more

I have lived in north Tahoe for over 8 years. I kept driving by Zephyr Cove Restaurant every time I went to SLT. I know it's a tourist stop but I finally decided to stop and check it out. It's a cozy historic restaurant with great views. I sat at the bar and the friendly bartender gave me a menu and took my order quickly. I ordered the Three-Tiered Club sandwich. It was sourdough bread cut in half and had substantial amount of turkey, ham and bacon. I also ordered a cup of French Onion au Gratin. It was a small but it was full of onion slices and tasted quite good. I will try to come back and try their breakfast. read more

I've been coming to Zephyr Cove restaurant for 10 years or so and was surprised i hadn't already done a review. Super cozy log cabin feel to the place because its a historic building from the mid 1800's. Beautiful rustic original hardwood floors throughout and wood accents everywhere. If you are lucky you might get a table by the fireplace !! I highly recommend for breakfast lunch or dinner if you are staying in South Lake Tahoe/ Stateline area because it's quiet and cozy and typically no wait for a table, especially when compared to any stateline or Heavenly village restaurants. So if you want to get away from the chaos of stateline and have a lovely meal in a historic building, try Zephyr Cove and thank me later! If you sit in the northwest corner or outside on the deck you get beautiful lake views. All the breakfast offerings are great, i've honestly never had a bad meal so i'd recommend everything! Cute little gift shop on the way out too! My wife and always used to eat breakfast at Red Hut in Tahoe but Zephyr Cove is waaay better food, atmosphere and scenery. read more

My family went here for breakfast today for the first time in about 20 years. When we lived in Lake Tahoe, the Lodge was one of our go to restaurants especially for breakfast. The food did not disappoint! Same great food that we always enjoyed years ago. My husband got the veggie omelette which came with hash browns and toast. My daughter got two Zephyr specials and split it amongst herself and 3 children that eat like grown men. It came with 2 pancakes, 2 bacon , 2 sausage and 2 eggs. My granddaughter got the biscuits and gravy and loved it. I am giving the 4 star rating for the delicious food. If I were to rate the service, I would give it a 2 at best! Our waiter was extremely rude and totally lacked any personality for being in the hospitality business. read more

A true GEM hidden in plain sight. We were looking for a nice, simple dinner and found Zephyr Cove Restaurant after several local South Lake Tahoe residents recommended it. Yes, it looks like a tourist-trap. It's part of a "resort" that offers lakefront cabins, rentals and an attached general store. Service - friendly and quick Ambiance - dripping with camp-vibe including the log cabin interior and furnishings. Lakefront view - WOW. If weather permits I would definitely suggest sitting on the lanai. But the star was the food, Excellent! I am quite the fan of crab cakes - and theirs was a real winner! Nothing fancy, but we could really taste the crab. For dinner we opted for the namesake Zephyr Steak Sandwich and the French Dip Sandwich. Both were built on roasted ribeye - so beefy and unctuous. Do NOT forget to order extra au jus for the French Dip - it was out of control-not just beef stock. Home-made apple pie ala mode with a great cup of brewed Starbucks coffee ended a very pleasurable meal. We may stop off on ouir way back to Reno airport. read more

Cute little spot. Prices are what you'd expect for a place primarily relying on tourism. We sat outside and had a great view of Lake Tahoe. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, no complaints there. We got our food and drinks relatively promptly, but it did seem to take a bit long considering it wasn't very busy. Or maybe we were just very hungry! The sides were not great. Both the fries and potato salad were on the bland side. The chicken sandwich itself was very tasty. The chicken was moist in the center but also had a bit of a char. The tomatoes very fresh and flavorful. The chipotle mayo had the right amount of kick and portion. We both loved our drinks! The restaurant is right off the mai road, so there is some traffic noise if you sit outside but it's worth it for the view. read more

2nd year in a row for a week stay during the first week of October. We had space 188 and 189. They were both full hook up sites with water, 30a electric and sewer connection. Farthest back before you get to the tent camping sites. Backing in our 24ft travel trailer was easy for both sites. The sites are far from level and had to stack our leveling legos 3 high on one side. The staff here was super friendly when we checked in, the beach is right across the highway but they charge for parking ($12 a day) seems if we are staying at the zephyr cove campgrounds, the vehicle access to the beach should be included. The only reason we drove there is to launch our kayak from the far side of the beach. Dogs are allowed only at the far end. We saw an awesome aurora boreales from that beach!! read more

The drinks were great and the location is hard to beat, especially since there aren't a ton of options in the area. This is a great breakfast spot! Twelve of us ate breakfast before the noon M.S. Dixie cruise. The dining room is classic old Tahoe, with lots of wood and a large fireplace. The food was tasty; large portions and coffee was fresh. The bar was available, too, for those who may like a mimosa or toddy. The staff is friendly and they help each other. Zepher Cove Restaurant is a beautiful place that brings back memories of when I camped across the street at the Zephyr Cove Resort with my Mom, my trailer and my daughter who was then 4, she is now 23. We would watch the MS Dixy dock at the Zephyr Cove pier and shop in the gift shop which I did today. I came by myself and sat out on their deck overlooking the pine trees and Lake Tahoe. I had an amazing server named Ashlan, and I ordered a beautiful salad and a French Dip to die for! This was a Five Star meal with outstanding customer service. Zephyr Cove Restaurant is a cozy little spot near the lake. It isn't lakeside per se but is walking distance. We missed breakfast so we had to choose from a pretty limited lunch menu. I got the grilled cheese and a cup of tomato basil soup. The latter was so salty I could barely eat it. The grilled cheese was pretty tasty but I had to take the bacon out - too much salt in this meal. My partner and I also got some nice hot toddies to warm us up. Our server was nice but the place seemed understaffed. We fortunately came before a big lunch rush and I noticed that many tables had to wait awhile for their food. read more

This place is so cute and you can see the lake from the outdoor patio. Parking is limited and only for 90 mins, but luckily there were plenty of spots when we came. The food is good, but the views are better. The best part of the meal was definitely the salad! Service was slow and we would have to flag down our waiter for everything. Came back to bring out of town guests for lunch on the lake. I parked and got a parking pass, went inside and ordered food. My guests asked to eat at the beach; I expected it to be less than 15 mins. and the parking attendant rudely made us leave the parking lot, even with food in hand. We weren't there for the beach, weren't dressed for the beach, but thought we'd eat at the water. She was incredibly rude.
