Management sucks. People come in the casino wearing pajamas. Just nasty. The machines are dirty and lots of nasty people sitting on the machines, sleeping. The floor staff red shirts are all cool but everyone else need to be fired. I won several jackpots and not once has a host introduced themselves to me. This place is so weird - the location is not great but they have extensive free parking. I went with my mom to go see a concert that was supposed to start at 8:30, but there was a huge line and they wouldnt let anybody into their chairs until 8:30! Great place to hang out and have fun, but be AWARE: there is a cashier on the late shift (wearing a suit) who demanded identification to cash a non-jackpot ticket. When I asked why an ID was required, he said, 'Because we want it; we can't cash the ticket without ID.' After I handed him my driver's license, he made a copy of it. I asked him why he made a copy and requested that the copy be returned to me. His response was, 'Because I can, and no, you cannot have it (copy) back.' Came with friends to the Celtic Illusions show at the event venue of the Casino. I don't believe they have renovated that area in decades - maybe since it was built. The seats were dirty and stained which I hope they clean if they plan on holding more events there. The venue has good visibility from any seat and the sound was loud and clear. We went to the casino which has been remolded, but calling themselves world-class is a stretch. Most of the machines we tried had issues with the touch screen. Every time you entered your pin the screen jumped and entered a different number. They probably need to recalibrate those touch screens. There are some poker tables and blackjack tables as well as the slot machines. It was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon. Parking is close by and there is easy access to the casino. They get an extra star because they are Smoke Free! Love that! They do have a room for smokers, but the place does not smell. I have been coming to Casino Miami for years and have to say, it's one of, if not, my favorite casino in the area. So when I first moved to Miami my job was right down the street from here so on my lunch breaks I would stop by when I had a spare twenty dollar bill lying around. The one thing I have always loved about this casino is that it's smoke free! Smoke free! You can wear whatever you want there guys because you won't smell like an ashtray after! Praise the Lord almighty! The casino is smaller than most, but it's kind of charming that way. The parking lot isn't large either but it doesn't need to be because there isn't heavy traffic, however, it's never an issue to find parking. Mostly slots here but that's ok with me since that's what I play. I can understand that someone may not want to hang out here at night, but is any casino in an area that you'd want to stroll around past dark? I don't think so. I always feel like I do well here on my penny slots. Last trip my five bucks gave me over one hundred dollars. A total score. Well today i was visiting this casino for the first time before heading home .. and i noticed they had live singers in the back. That was something different and entertaining. They also had a karaoke competition which kept me there even longer. But i noticed they did not reward the good singers and who ever was in charge was extremely not organized with the whole competition. I believe there were two top singers and one wasn't even given a place and the other was given the 3rd place. It was a shame that the good singers were not correctly recognized. I would of loved for them to continue singing, as they were very entertaining. I hope someone with a talented background would take over to improve the quality of these type of competition. The world's fastest game! A brief history: The Jai-Alai was a main attraction in Miami during the 50's and 60's. In 1968, the players went on strike and management decided to blacklist them entirely. The strike, along with the Florida Lottery, devastated the industry and is part of the reason the place has gone down hill- Poor management has also been a contributing factor. I've been going with my pops since I was 6- I'm now 28- and not one piece of decor has been changed since. Routine maintenance usually gets a band aid and as a result, the structure has slowly deteriorated. However, If you can get over some of the eyesores, this place is actually the bomb! On Sundays the entrance is free and they have $1 drafts- Who can beat that?! And you can bet as little as a dollar on a 20 minute set (there are 12 sets in total). The programs are a dollar but you can probably find a free one on the floor. The bottom line is that It's a cool place, with cheap beer and a laid back environment that is awesome, especially when accompanied by friends. Supposedly management is preparing to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation. Miami-Dade county recently passed legislation that would allow the Jai-Alai to incorporate slot machines. During my recent trip to Miami I have to say that Jai-Alai was certainly the most memorable thing i did. ok, yes, the place needs a renovation, yes, its empty, it feels like the 60s ... yes, all of that is true. but that is part of the charm. I was completely fascinated to find a sport that is extremely interesting, but is outside all of the commercial TV business. I admit that I didn't understand all of the rules, but figured out enough to enjoy the game and have a blast. I honestly have no idea why not more Miamians go and watch the game. it's $1 to get in and for that you get more than 4 hours worth of entertainment ... tell me a place where you get that much for your money. this is a place that is far off the beaten tourist map ... but it provides a glimpse into the Miami of the earlier times ... when everything wasn't shiny and glittery. on top of the fun game, i have to say that the Miami Jai-Alai logo is just amazing ... my business advice to them would be to sell cool t-shirts with that logo. read more
