You can not and should not eradicate every creature living in town, they stay away from people and are surviving as fellow beings in the world. No one visiting Mendo wants support a business practicing animal cruelty. Coming from the city, we go to Mendo to cherish nature. We are utterly disappointed in upper management and will not be returning on principle.

Just magnificent! There's a good sized living room, full kitchen and refrigerator, a small 4 seater dining area, a bedroom (almost entirely taken up by a queen bed) with a sliding door that opens onto a balcony and a full bathroom. I asked for decaf coffee ahead of time and that was waiting for me together with a small bottle of white wine from a local winery. There is no internet unless you connect to the property's wifi which is more than adequate - about 60 mbps in this bungalow. The bungalow temperature is controlled by a thermostat and a self-igniting gas fireplace. These are the plus-es. On the minus side, the balcony had no view to speak of at all, looking mostly at the exit road and the side of the bungalow in front of the Albion. (I think the view from the other bungalow balconies is better.) The furniture was old and very worn. The couch/ pull out bed in the living room was hard and not particularly comfortable to sit on watching TV. The biggest negative was my bathroom (but only the bathroom) was crawling with ants. When I mentioned it to the property contact they were quick to say they'll address but, unfortunately, it was time for me to leave before they could. (My fault for late notification to them). In all, it is a comfortable (not luxurious) stay in a spectacularly beautiful area at a reasonable price. It's a solid 3* accommodation in a 4-5* setting at a reasonable price.

I then wonder how dirty the rest of the floor is so I take some paper towels and clean an area and this is what it looks like. I emailed the innkeeper and they responded right away and said they would have someone take care of it in the morning. When we come home from dinner I go to turn the light on in the porch area and it's out. So I again email the innkeeper and he responded quick and said he would have the manager of the day call me tomorrow. So I get a call from one of the owners who didn't seem shocked and was semi apologetic. This cabin was over $400 a night and I would expect a clean and safe room. I asked for a discount and was offered a discount on a future stay and I said I would not be going there again and all he said was "okay and bye" and hung up. So some other thing's wrong in this cabin, slider door to patio, lock broken so the lock is a stick. Shower head is about to come off the wall. I will post pictures of that. The entire property is very unkempt, spider webs and weeds everywhere. Not worth the price we paid.

The peace and quiet to overlook park and ocean in the distance is a great way to start day. Very polite and attentive staff. Your little sitting areas on property are a Way to end the day with a glass wine. For those who don't want to drive to go and sightsee, have a cup of coffee or get a drink/bite to eat....walk out the front door for a short walk to ALL. We will definitely return and refer others. Perhaps next time we will try one of the other rooms just to see what else to offer. Nice soft towels and a quaint gas fireplace in the room. Oh yes, don't worry about charging cords for your your phones has two of the cradle charging beds beside the bed to keep you ready to go. No tv in the room. Take advantage of that. The staff were very friendly and suggested their faves for breakfast and we did take their word. The Inn also offered complimentary wine tastings at Husch Winery and we also enjoyed the offering and were pleasantly surprised the winery also offered us a discount for purchases since we were staying at the Inn. Something I really would like to mention is the welcoming cheerful hospitality and professionalism of the manager Steven Maldonado. During our stay we experienced a provider internet service outage the 2nd night of our stay. Steven was so diligent in his attempts to resolve that he stayed for a long period of time troubleshooting to clear the premise and making repeated calls to the provider. He also came to personally inform us that it didn't look like it would be restored that evening. He was also back really early to get back to getting the issue resolved with the provider. We stepped into the office to check out and he said it had been resolved. I thanked him and told him he was so great through it all. He never lost his cheery disposition and welcoming charm during the experience. We will definitely check for cottage availability when we come back to Mendocino to visit.

It was buffet style, the food was all separated out, it was great. Agate's pricing is a bit more than some other spots in town that include some kind of breakfast, and is further away from downtown (requiring walk on a road with no sidewalk sometimes in the dark after dinner--I recommend bringing a headlamp), but we found it great for us in other ways. Sadly without the breakfast, we may look elsewhere for our next stay as I don't think the pricing has gone down to reflect the lack of breakfast. What a shame, the breakfast room is beautiful. I wonder how they will end up using the space.

A few little things were off - shower was a fine size but water pressure was lacking. The windows should be double paned being this close to the road, but earplugs help. The heat is baseboard and tricky to control. The rooms will def need window AC units in the summer months to be bearable. It's a great place and super comfortable and cute spot to stay, especially being dog friendly and a nice price compared to other limited local options. I called their…read morehelp desk upon check in because the room was freezing when we entered and the wall unit didn't work. They said to just use the space heater?? Okkaayyy... should have had the room heated before arrival or warned us that the unit didn't work. They said "the space heater should heat the room up quick" well it's been an hour and the room is still cold. The bed is rock hard, and definitely didn't seem like a queen size. What a joke. Not worth the price.
