We stayed in the Treehouse room, and it was absolutely gorgeous. They even left a welcome note for us with our names on it. It had a tiny kitchenette with a microwave and fridge, plus everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The room also had coffee, tea, a tea kettle, and a coffee pot, and they even emailed us in advance to ask what type of creamer we wanted in the room, including almond, oat, and half-and-half options. One of our favorite parts was the real wood fireplace. It made the room feel so cozy and special. The bed was also super comfortable and warm, and we fell asleep with the window open, which was perfect. Eric and the team also give guests access to the lobby area, where you can play games, read books, and enjoy homemade cookies and lemon bars that they leave out for everyone. It was such a sweet touch. The entire property is beautiful and open, and there is a short trail down to the beach, about three minutes from the property. Around 5 p.m., we saw locals walking their dogs and hanging out by the beach, which made it feel even more charming and peaceful. Breakfast in the morning was amazing and included with the stay. Eric explained where all the ingredients were from (local) and even accommodated gluten free guests. Overall, Allegra has everything you need, so you really do not need to bring much. It was cozy, welcoming, and such a special place to stay. Big shoutout to Eric who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. He drew us a map of local restaurants he recommended, all of which were amazing! We will definitely be back soon.

We did an easy self-check in and were greeted with a cute card, a small bottle of local wine, and some of the best chocolate cookies and lemon bars ever. We loved enjoying the view from our room with the ambient warmth from the wood-burning stove. The real gem was the freshly made breakfast served in the main house each morning. My husband and I were blown away by the flavors and freshness of both of our breakfasts and easily could have stayed longer for more. The staff here is very responsive, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. We absolutely would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet escape in Mendocino.

The girlfriend and I recently went up to Mendocino for her birthday weekend during December…read more14-15th, 2024. This review is for our 2 night stay in the Bessie Strauss Suite. Now, for starters, when I think of a room "suite" you're expecting pretty nice amenities. You definitely want to feel like you have the comforts of home at your disposal. This room is listed as having. . . White Water Ocean Views King Featherbed Wood-burning Fireplace Mini Fridge Private Bath Tub and Shower So, let's get into it..... Firstly, I found it very easy to reserve the room via the app from Booking.com It's one of my preferred travel reservation methods, and the Inn Keeper John later reached out to confirm payment details and to charge the room just before my stay. That part was very simple. We arrived on Sat 14th around 3 ish in the afternoon to be greeted by one of the hosts named Diane. She is very welcoming and friendly. Gave us a little tour, asked if we needed anything, showed us to our room, etc. Diane gets 10 stars for her individual role within the Bed and Breakfast. Mind you, December is VERY cold in Mendocino. Some roads can be flooded. The ocean waves are angry but beautiful. It's windy and rainy. It's cold!! But I am dating a winter snow bear so she likes to feel the chill while retreating to a comfortable room. For this review, I am going to simplify it with a pros/cons list of how the experience was for 2 days, 2 nights. PROS --- Diane makes homemade cookies daily. Delicious! Delicious homemade breakfast served daily outside the room (picture) Wonderful upstairs views of the ocean tides Best homemade pesto sauce I have ever had during breakfast A very large plush king sized bed with like 12 pillows A mini fridge which is appreciated Strong fast wifi connection A seating area to eat cookies and interact with other guests Walking distance to the town of Mendocino A large enough room where we didn't directly hear too much noise above or below Up front parking right by the Inn You have a set of keys to come and go at all hours from the front locking door to your room. CONS --- Featherbed, you say? It is so plush, that you have zero support for joints. For those of us in our 40s, we went from a relaxing massage in town, to waking up with back and joint pain from it being too feathery. No support. Tub and Shower? Sure. They even have a cute lavender sleep bath salt. What could be the problem. How about that the tub only filled up with barely lukewarm water. My breath has more heat. The tub and shower wasn't cold, but it definitely did not warm us. My partner had to use the tea kettle to boil water and pour me a bath. The lamp on one side of the bed kept flickering and wouldn't turn on. We had one lamp across the room by the sofa. One small lamp on the other side of the bed. One very wobbly lamp on the table by the bay view window. And the bathroom lights. The room is dark and dreary. Oh, let's not forget the wood-burning Fireplace. I have never been so anxiety filled near a fireplace. The fireplace is the only place to really have warmth. The room itself is large and drafty so it will get cold. There's a tiny space heater behind the couch but that does nothing. You could touch it with your hand. The fireplace chain screen that is there as a safety measure so you don't have fiery embers flinging out on the carpet or worse, on you, doesn't close all the way! It is very old and outdated. Downright safety hazard! I was cold every day, and every night. I couldn't get heat from the tub, shower, fireplace, space heater or anything! Obviously, we cuddled and had the bed blankets, but then your back hurts from the pillow softness. The couch is more comfortable. I am not even going out of my way to find negativity with the stay. This is just how it went! For the price of this suite, my experience was very disappointing! I have been cold ever since! We would not stay again.

It was cozy and quiet and within walking distance of anywhere in Mendocino you'd like to go. Surrounded by plenty of cafes and restaurants, once you park you will have easy access to everything. Staff was friendly and helpful. We checked out too early for the breakfast (starts at 9:00 am), so can't tell you much about that. If in the area, I'd stay again.

As I walked in, I met a beautiful and kind person with an honest smile on her face. She introduced herself as Issabel. She made you feel at home, and now it's time to rest. This hotel is so beautiful that you don't want to leave this place. Isabel showed us around and genuinely took care of us. We were so lucky to find this place. Dinner was served around 5:30, and the chef made fresh food for us. Breakfast is included, and it's delicious and presented beautifully. Isabel stayed completely involved with us. Usually, we drop bags and want to go outside, but leaving this place was hard. Thank God we were on the first floor with the ocean view. This place is a must-visit in Mendocino. You must go and share your thoughts with your family and friends. Thanks, Isabel. We miss you and can't wait to go back and see you.

Great food service. -Pine Room had the best view, you'll see the most birds coming to the bird feeders What was different: -Extensive DVD collection and games to choose from -Since cell phones aren't reliable here and front staff leaves at a certain hour, you have to call for help using a land line. -Wine hour at 5pm daily. -Two person soak tub and shower with great pressure -No AC, but opening the windows allows for a cool breeze. -Note that "food service gratuity" is added to room charges when you check out. We were charged $47.47 for 2 nights. What I wasn't a fan of: -Very thin ceilings and walls, you will hear everything in the lobby and other rooms and it will keep you up. -Cell phone reception is spotty to non-existent.

It's the perfect escape from everything and totally affordable. We stayed in the garden studio on weekdays for only $70/night. You can't beat that price for any room that's actually in the tiny town of Mendocino. There's no breakfast served at the cottages but you're only a short walk from downtown Mendocino which has plenty of coffee, food options, and great art galleries. Mendocino is adorable, and has a completely relaxed vibe. The cottages are on the very west end of town so only a 1/4 mile walk down the road to Mendocino Headlands State Park with breathtaking scenery. The room was very clean, quirky and cozy decorations, and plenty of firewood is provided. The three cottages are on the same property, kind of an extended backyard, but the incredible garden and ample space made it seem very private. The proprietor was nice but not overly involved in our stay or our business. She lives on site but was pretty much absent. This is a great place to stay in Mendocino and the price is unbeatable.

Check out was simple, just leaving our keys in the room. We enjoyed the scone breakfast every morning and the simple but kind hospitality provided by the inn staff. There are no TVs or fridges in the room but there is a communal fridge on property. There is shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion in all the rooms and makeup wipes. They provide fresh towels daily if needed as the climate tends to not dry things in just one day. They also have an electric car charger if one is needed and ice. The parlor is a step back in time with coffee and tea and open 24/7 for guest use. They also provided in the afternoon - upon our arrival on a Saturday (not sure if this is the norm but a great touch!) The inn is right off of highway 1 but wasn't too loud, although could depend which room you stay. It is also walkable to parts of town about a quarter mile if you're willing. They provided flashlights as well if you go out at night- a nice touch! And I do recommend to see stars in unpolluted night sky! Overall we had a great and restful experience here and recommend you stay in this quiet b&b if you're looking to recharge! Thank you Joshua Grindle team !
