I wish Yelp had a NEGATIVE rating, since this experience was one of the worst I've had when working on a home project. The "President", if you want to call him that, Kevin was the most unprofessional person I ever dealt with. He has Zero Customer service and support. I purchased TWO doors, that both showed up the wrong size. When the correct size arrived, one had a Bent inside screen, with the wrong color frame. The end units, were cracked and would not tightened to retract the screen correctly. The Door Handle was Plastic, and using Kevin words" the door closer did not fit in correctly with the frame of your frame. We are retooling the metal frame to be deeper to hold the plastic handles effectively. What I would say is BUYER be aware. The company does not support its customers once the product is out the door. They have Zero customer support and zero tech support to solve any issues. I reached out to Kevin, via phone, text with NO response . I spent +$1500 between parts and having a Professional Window and Door company install these. The Window company share that they have never seen a company treat its customer like this, as well as this door for the price you paid was poorly made and constructed. read more

It's a great screen door and once I got it installed, it works very well. It even recovers nicely after I walk full-speed into and through it! Quality control and support could be improved. The top and bottom rails were too long, so I emailed support and they sent me a video showing me how to bend the side pieces to accommodate the top and bottom rails. (Why not just provide this info in the instructions?) And the rails were still too wide, so I just cut the rails to fit. There were random cuts on the rails that looked like a mistake, so I emailed them and they explained that those were by design to allow water to drain out. (Fine, but why not include that in the instructions to avoid you having to answer questions and your customers having to wait for an answer.) The top rail was missing one of the two fuzzy screen protector strips and I emailed them about it and got no response, but figured out a way to make it work on my own. The sizing was a bit too large for the opening so I had to cut down the top and bottom rails. In the end, it's installed and what I was hoping for, but could have been a much easier process. read more

Just remember, the competitors dont offer any warranties for a reason. I originally found casper screens when I watched a 150+ lbs mastiff (Duke) run at near full speed at, and through, a casper screen. I didnt recognize the significance of watching the incident at the moment but more concerned with playing with the big doggy and getting to my next jobs that day. Both screen and Mastiff were not harmed. The screen was pull from the tracks but easily replaced on tracks as if nothing happened. The density of this screen was much stronger than anything I saw previously. That was almost a year ago. The screen appear undamaged and functioned perfectly, immediately following the incident. I was in shock the screen survived but the million + dollar home didnt suprise me it had a massive dog proof screen door. Fast forward to about a month ago, I have several clients request the best possible screens available. I completely forgot about the massive dog running full speed through the screen door. Then, it being placed back onto the track as is nothing had happened?! The clients requesting the screens were leary with retractable screens because they have had previous experience and were all disappointed with previous screens however neither of the clients have had a Casper screen. Competitors screens never fit perfectly and often had large gaps in various areas with no adjustments available like casper screens allow. Coincidentally, Dukes parents, reached out about 2 weeks ago for a small plumbing repair. THAT made me recall Duke, and "casper screen door" incident. Duke and the screen where still in great shape. In fact, Duke now never runs at full speed through ANY doorways. After their quick plumbing repair, I did a quick search for casper screens. Locally in Poway, and offered a lifetime limited warranty, and while researching retractable screen doors, I had YET to come across this company, or ANY warranty with all of the competitors?! As I researched further, and attempted to compare, Casper is simple BEST IN ITS CLASS and inferior to all other retractable screens I have compared. The fact of the lifetime warranty and the design with construction materials that are extremely durable are used is just "space aged" compared to "stone aged" competitors! When comparing the cost, Casper isnt even the highest cost option available when they should be, due to their warranty. Some competitors charge HUNDREDS MORE, while using rubber bands, cheap plastics that break so easily. the fitting of the screens are done onsite ensuring a perfect exact fit everytime! Its crazy competitors charge similiar or more than casper and sell ANY screens. I had done 2-3 hours of research on the construction, quality, service, reliability and cost of retractable screen doors prior to recalling the "Duke incident". After my previous research and experience has always ended in disappointment, anger, and annoyance with at least 10+ other companies which have similiar products but really it was ONLY similiar in concept. I can CONFIDENTLY approve these screens are BY FAR, THE BEST. They are INSANELY reasonable cost considering the lifetime limited warranty but its really not suprising when you look at the quality and the construction of the screens. In comparison to other products, its literally comical to see what is offered and how its constructed and when you factor the competition cost with NO OTHER WARRENTYS OR garunetees. I got a double door from Casper screens for my parents for Christmas. They absolutely love it and the magnet is perfect for them to easily open and close it. The man who came and installed it was so kind and got it done quickly so my parents would be surprised when they came home. I have been recommending the company to all my friends because of the high quality product. I purchased a "custom" screen door from this company that lasted about 2 weeks. Disastrous experience all around, save your money! They have flaws at about every level. First the "custom" sizing didn't account for the width of the screen roller, so the tracks needed additional modification to fit the size of the door opening we provided. The roller and tracks all seem to be nice quality metal products, but they cheaped out on plastic caps at the top and bottom of the roller that hold coil and allow the screen to retract. My caps broke in transit and made installation very difficult. I attempted to epoxy them back together to avoid replacing the entire screen, but they were under so much pressure they broke again during use. Because the caps didn't function properly, the screen wasn't guided properly through the tracks, and the screen itself tore in less than 2 weeks of light use. After telling me they won't refund "custom" products, their customer service ghosted me. A very frustrating process and I have no respect for a company that won't stand behind their product. read more

This company defrauds consumers. On March 29th, I placed an order for a Casper screen door on their website. The total was $632.86. The order specified a screen door of 96" tall and 36" wide. The product I received was 94" in height. The package included an "adapter" that was 2" in height, which the company claims "makes up for the missing 2 inches". With the adapter in place, the door does not look good. It looks like it was cut too short and had to be shimmed. The business claims that the reason for the adapter is because FedEx charges too much to ship a box over 96". While the online order form does talk about an adapter, it fails to adequately describe what the adapter is or what its purpose is. The statement "Doors between 94-96" will come with an adaptor [sic] that is installed above our top track" doesn't quantify that it will be a 2" adapter. The order form is the only place on the website that mentions an adapter. It is not even mentioned on the FAQ page, despite there being a specific FAQ about "what size doors can Casper Screens be installed on?" I note that in the imagery on the website that shows doors larger than a normal size (approx 80"), the pictures are cropped to not show the adapter. Casper Screen doors claim that doors greater than 96" cost an additional $400 to ship. I've attached a screenshot of the website configured with a 97" door that shows shipping charges $46.62. This leaves me with an eyesore that doesn't exist at 93-7/8" or 96-1/8". I have tried to resolve this dispute with the owner and he is unwilling to refund or accept a return of the product (at their expense). He claims to want to talk to me, but has never called and does not return email after I told him I was disputing the transaction. read more

UPDATE: Wow, what a turn around. After Kevin read my review, I received an email within hours. He apologized and explained some of the challenges that he and his business are going through. He wasn't making excuses... just giving an explanation and an offer to make things right. That's all a customer can ask for; we are all human and make mistakes. The sign of a good business is how they handle things after a mistake is made. I received a call shortly after hearing from Kevin from service rep. Mattie, who listened to my concerns and found a solution for each. She sent a technician, Mario (who was amazing by the way); he took care of all my concerns and did it with a smile... The customer service is the worst I have experienced in a long time. Kevin Boyd was available to take my order, but after that he became non existent. I called him and texted him multiple times to try and get just simple items such as an invoice, an upper slide track (which was missing from the order) and a lower cover that was cracked. No luck. He did write me back once and blamed it on his warehouse (nothing like the owner of the company passing the buck), and said he would take care of it. I gave him my address and waited and waited and nothing came. If this is not enough of a reason to avoid Casper Screens, believe the reviews that say how cheaply made this product is. Do NOT buy this product! I bought the double door screen set, and I was told by Kevin how satisfied I'd be compared to Phantom Screens that all my neighbors have. Casper was 650 and Phantom was 1100 so heck yeah! I'm smarter than my neighbors...NOT! The order and install was great, but right away after install, the usage of the door was subpar compared to Phantom...just plan bad really. I like to open just one door at times, so you connect both screens and put the lock in (I'll get to the lock after) and it looks great. Once you're outside and want to come in, the only exposed handle is the open side, but if you try to pull it apart, the magnet is so strong that the energy to separate the doors causes the lock to fall open and the hidden side of the screen crashes into the base and the handle can break. It did on my after a few of those. The "lock" is a vertical slide lever that goes into a "base" screwed on the top frame...very cheap looking. Being vertical, it needs tension to hold it locked. Any disturbance in tension and lock falls with gravity and the screen goes crashing into the base. Also, the tracks are very loose and sloppy, so it just has a very cheap feel to the motion when they rattle and flop. The top rail didn't even have the felt for insect intrusion protection, so there is that as well. The handles are cheap little plastic parts that have a thin plastic "rail" that slides into the groove of the door, which really isn't that secure. I guess it's supposed to be great so they can be adjustable. They snap when the door flies loose as mentioned, or any slight bend such as my wife did trying to pry the two doors (magnets) apart will snap them, rendering them useless. I'm out of door handles now and can't even use my screen. I left a couple messages, but no call back. I called Kevin directly and complained and he called me a whiney bitch. I am literally going to throw this 650 dollar contraption into the garbage, and pay the extra money for the Phantom screens. The saying "you get what you pay for" has never hit me harder, and that's a hard pill to swallow when it's 650 dollars. I'm eating that 650 and spending the 1100 to get a nice product. Some advice, if you can afford to the the right product, do it! Don't cheap out like I did with Casper or you will be unhappy...unless you just have never seen a real screen door, such as the Phantom. Ignorance is bliss as they say. I'm only pushing the Phantom, because as mentioned, 4 of my neighbors have them, and they are legit! I sure hate throwing money away, but this product is garbage...my bad. Joe Wilcox read more

Two of the framing pieces of the door I received were the wrong measurement. I went back to check the measurement I had sent and it was correct, theirs was incorrect. This meant I had to get someone to cut the metal frame pieces to the correct measurement. Furthermore, there is no indication on their website that the actual netting comes easily out of the bottom runner. I had installed partly because I have an indoor cat and wanted to be able to open door for air but keep her in. It would have been nice to know how insecure the netting was but nowhere on the website does it indicate this. I understand that no one is perfect and mistakes are made, but my calls and emails to the company about the mis-measured frames were ignored, so customer service not good. read more

We had screens installed for our double doors. The screens retract back to the edge of the molding of the doors and are not intrusive. The double doors can open and close without obstruction. No issues at all however we don't have small children or pets that can run into the screens. Also we are careful not to let the screen "snap back" when retracting. Today I was completely delighted by the level of service and customer support by Casper Disappearing Screens. I ordered a "self-Install" retractable Door two weeks ago. When the shipment arrived on Saturday afternoon , I realized part of the door was damaged & dented. Since we are hosting a Bridal Shower for my future daughter-in-law this Saturday, I was extremely disappointed since I had no time to remedy the situation. I sent Casper a mean email and I received a call directly from someone in their company telling me they would remedy the situation. To my gracious surprise, they sent Dale to my home this Friday morning, a day before the event to build me a brand new frame. Not only did he build a replacement part on site, but he graciously removed the damaged frame and installed the door for me. He is a Pro so he did a much better job than my second install of a Casper Door. Eventhough this is not my first purchase from Casper, I went from being extremely upset to an extremely delighted customer. Not only are their retractable screen doors way superior to the retractable doors sold at Home Depot (I've replaced 2 of them thus far with Casper), but their customer service is Extremely Amazing! read more

Ok. So I've had my front and side door screens for a little over two years. I still love them but....we live close to the beach. My front door faces west where we get all our fresh air in. So when I have my front door open and my screen closed the actual screen comes off the track because of the breeze. Even at the slightest breeze it come off track. When this happens I have to be very careful and gently push the screen back into the track while retracting the screen door. I'm sure one day I'll have to call up this company and see if they can put a new screen on but right now the tears aren't too bad. That's the only pet peeve I have with this. My side door? Please know, these screens are delicate and it would be very easy for a large dog or running child to pull the screens down. That being said, we don't have a large dog and the kids are grown. I have two casper screens. They were great for a very short time. They do not last. As a realtor I have since noticed other more sturdy screens. Both of mine did not slide well and came off rack within a year. I contacted them and all they want to do is charge service calls which is obviously how they continue to make money. My screens are frayed at the bottom hardly slide. I contacted them initially because the magnetic strips come open with no one near and I have concerned because I have cats. I wished I had read the bad reviews on amazon. They are cheaply made, expensive and DO NOT stand by their product. Note we are a two adult household no children. Spent $449 to install a Casper screen door in Jul2020 and was told there is a lifetime warranty for parts and three-year warranty for everything. Even the screen door quality did not look good and not have a smooth open and close, I thought it should be no worries for at least 3 years. Called today for the broken screen in the upper right corner and was told the screen is not under warranty and need to pay $150 to repair. It's a horrible experience. Do not know what to do - who knows how long the new screen will last and no one wants to spend $150 once 1.5 years to maintain the screen. The people were good when called for installation but not helpful when called for service after the installation. Would not recommend. I purchased the Casper Screen door about 4 years ago. Skip to "Conclusion:" if you have no experience with Casper screen doors. It has always had some problems of jamming and binding. The vertical moving frame kept catching at the bottom on something. I lift the vertical piece out and the "boot" was left behind in the track. Over time this problem manifested in the screen tearing at the very top and very bottom of the vertical frame. It puts a lot of stress on the screen mesh where there should be some reinforcement. Now this year the return spring tension has gotten weak and it wouldn't retract past about half way. So I do my due diligence and go to the FAQ page. I didn't find a FAQ on tensioning the screen return spring. I call support and they just send me to the same place that wasn't helpful. OK, so I watch all the videos to find out it is under how to replace the end caps. So it requires near complete disassembly to adjust tension. Then reassemble to try it out. If it's not right then disassemble the door again, adjust the tension and try again until satisfactory. Not exactly designed for maintenance. During my "servicing" episode it becomes apparent to me that the bottom boot is causing the binding. The reason seems to be the tang of the bottom boot slips out easily. So it was dropping down from it's position in the vertical frame rail and getting caught on the screw heads that secure the bottom track. I wrapped the boot tang in duct tape (if it moves and shouldn't use duct tape, if it doesn't move and should use WD40 :-) Now I call back to support and they said they could send out a technician for a full servicing and screen replacement for a bunch of money. My counter was I am making a warranty claim. Fix it for free. They declined my offer. Conclusion: The warranty is worthless. Their design requires yearly maintenance for a bunch of money, because there are no simple user end adjustments. They do not accept the idea that their manufacturing flaw (loose boot tang) caused the issue and therefore the will not honor my claim. read more
