Just got the screens. They are very cheap and do not have a smooth open and close. The lock that is extra is like 99cent store plastic. Such bad quality. And bad return policy. The customer service is amazing! I got disappearing screens for my back door - I love them, they don't detract from my view at all, and they let in a nice breeze. I also love that it's all done in one visit (it maybe took 45 minutes max?) A few months later, they email me asking how my screen doors are. I say they're fine, there's a small rip at the bottom - how would they recommend I fix it? And I kid you not, they email me back immediately, tell me they will replace the mesh, and voila, two days later, my screen doors are fixed! At no additional cost! AVOID!!!! Garbage product, Garbage company, worthless warranty. We purchased Caspar screen for three double doors some years ago. At some point they all stopped working. I called the company and they told me that they could refurbish them for $250 each so we paid a total of $750 to have it done. A few months later one of the screens stopped working, the screen was very difficult to pull out and would not retract. I thought no problem I have a warranty that will cover it. I called Caspar and explained the problem and was told that there would be an $89 service call that is not covered by the warranty. So the warranty does not really cover defective product and installation. Being an engineer and DIYer I decided to diagnose and fix the problem myself. Caspar referred me to some troubleshooting videos which where actually helpful. I discovered what I thought was the problem which was that the plastic end cap on the pull bar was missing (see picture). So either it was never installed, or it was loose it fell off and got lost. I was able to purchase a new on from their website for $5. Then I removed the bottom track and found one the screw was installed into a stripped hole so it was not holding the track in place. When I went to re-install the top track I found one of three screws was missing. It turns out it was screwed into the door molding by itself and not into the track so it was doing nothing. There is a latch that is supposed to hold one of the screens in the closed position, but it flimsy and does not hold the screen. The screen still had a lot of resistance so I took it apart, put some grease on the moving plastic parts and now it is much much. I spent several frustrating hours doing this and re-installing it on the door. I sent an email to Caspar and received no response. Nothing, zero. read more

I have been wanting a retractable screen door for so long and the flies and mosquitos were out of control this year. I tried to go to Home Depot and buy one and install it myself but it was not the right size and I really wanted it to look good since it was our front door. We had a bad experience with this product. Apparently, the guy that came out to install it was an INDEPENDENT dealer who has no affiliation with the Manufacturer. When we tried to get the Manufacturer to come out to repair the screen he refused, saying I did not purchase it directly from him! I told him it was his product nonetheless but he still refused to help us out. Well, we got ahold of the independent dealer who told us that they no longer SELL this "Disappearing Screen" because it was DEFECTIVE and they lost money going back to repair or replace this screen. For a premium brand, my expectation for customer service was high. They cut and sent me the incorrect screen size, which rendered the product worthless. They agreed to send the correct screen size, however it required me to open the spring loaded screen housing, remove the existing screen, and replace with the new screen. The mechanism inside the housing is relatively complex with several parts that need to be carefully disassembled and reassembled to make the housing work properly. Was not able to do this by myself and attempts at resolving the issue have not been successful. At this point, we have moved on, but certainly feels like a waste of nearly $600 due to poor attention to detail at Casper. Would not recommend. read more

Overall very pleased, we use them everyday on the French Doors on the side of the main bedroom over looking the backyard. I recommend getting the same color as your door so they blend in on the sides and track. The doors are perfect for what we need.. but a heads up: ~The doors are NOT for security they are to keep bugs and dust out. ~Not recommended for a heavy traffic area as opening and closing may become an annoyance. ~Not necessarily (10y and younger) kid friendly when opening and closing, the magnets are very strong for the french door screens and could move off track if a younger kid attempts to open and close. However super easy to put back on track. ~There is a small lip on the track. ~The french door screens come approx 2" into the door on each side on the exterior, so get the same color as your door. ~Install was quick and easy by the Casper Installer. read more

If it was possible to leave 0 stars, I would. Our screen came broken and the craftmanship was cheap. Very cheap plastic that does not move seamlessly. Just not at all as expected. I contacted the company and they offered to replace busted plastic but is refusing to issue a refund or have anyone other than an entry level employee talk to me about the issue. I've been living in my condo for 7 years and always had an issue with mosquitos in the summer. I've just lived with keeping my doors closed at all times, even during the hot summers because I'm highly allergic to mosquito bites. (If you've seen the movie Hitch, that's almost how bad I can blow up after one mosquito bite). I've tried the screens I saw on the infomercials, but those looked ugly and would always fall down. Eventually, I gave up. One day I randomly Googled retractable screen doors and found Casper screens. I fell in love when I saw the video and made an appt immediately! Rose scheduled me right away. I live in San Francisco and although they are in San Diego, they have installers in many areas so it was pretty easy. My rep came out (I believe her name was Evie). She was so nice and accommodating and got everything done in an hour. The end result was actually better than I thought it'd look. The housing is pretty clean looking and flush against the wall. I like that it's white, not black, but the strip on the bottom is black, which is good due to dirt that'll accumulate. It doesn't slide super smoothly, but it does the job. It looks pretty. So far, I'm happy with this purchase. As soon as Evie left, I decided I had to write this review. I plan to tell all my neighbors as I think they would really like this product too. What's good about it is since we live in a condo, there are very strict rules and regulations, which is why I haven't been able to install a screen door on the outside, but this fit perfectly inside the door and did not take away from the interior of the house. I must admit, I was extremely nervous about this purchase because some of the reviews, but I'm glad I didn't listen to them. I had a good experience and I'm pretty hard to please. I had the screens installed on double doors about 3 years ago. I made a huge mistake in purchasing from this company. I have another set of screens from Clear View for over 6 years and they work perfectly. The casper screens are very light weight and very flimsy. The do not close completely, pop out of the track, and are inferior in every way to the Clear View. I called them and they said I had to vacuum the track which I did several times. This did not solve the problem.They do not re-wind so they just hang partially open. I would not buy this product. In fact, I think I am going to replace it with the Clear View, a mush superior product. read more

I really want to write a positive review but at this point I have to say that customer service is really poor. We ordered our door October 8. We were impressed with how quickly it got here. My husband installed it but the pull bar was too short and the screen buckled. After many calls, some not returned for days, finally the decision was made to send us a longer bar. November 9 a tracking number was given to me and as of today, November 18, it has still not shipped. This seems unreasonable. read more

The DIY installation for the double-door retractable screen is not for the faint of heart. The videos make it looks super easy, but there are missing details in the video and the written instructions are sparse, to say the least. Here are some installation problems I encountered: 1. The upper and lower tracks must seat completely into the side rollers that contain the screens. Otherwise, the dimensions will not allow the configuration to fit inside the door frame. This is not mentioned in the instructions. Further, the slot that accepts the track in the roller housing is 'pinched' and it takes some prying to make the track enter and fit properly and seat. It's not easy to make both ends seat when mounting the assembly according to the Casper installation video! 2. Even though I sent the correct dimensions to Casper, I had to hacksaw 1/8" off of both tracks to complete the installation. Frustrating. 3. I damaged one of the boots during the first try at installation. It took 10 days, a number of phone calls, and finally a 20 mile drive to a local installer to get a 10-cent replacement boot to complete the installation. Again, frustrating. 4. Once installed, one side of the screen still drags on the screw heads that are used to secure the bottom track to the transom. It's not clear that using round-head screws is a good choice and that the boot will ever smoothly pass over these screws when opening and closing the screen. For the amount of money charged for the double-door retractable screen, I found the basic design to be poorly thought out and even though I will live with the bumpy opening/closing, I expected more for the cost. On the positive side, personnel at Casper were helpful when I could get hold of them, but sometimes did not return calls or ship promised parts. read more

HORRIBLE PRODUCT and the OWNER KEVIN is a MASTER at giving a customer the RUN-AROUND. We bought two screens. Spent almost $1000. One works great. The other we have had NOTHING but trouble. And he won't do a thing about it. My husband has taken the screen apart 3 times to re-roll it and try it again. We have spoken to his service tech (which doesn't work for him anymore).We now have duct tape on it and a putty knife under it to try and keep it working. Owner Kevin says "he has a very simple product". Instead of satisfying his customer with the help they need, he instead made us feel like idiots. (My husband was a facility director for a hospital for 20 years. I think he knows a defective screen when he sees one!) RUN from this company. The owner is ONLY interested in your money. The installer was nice and efficient, however the product is made of flimsy materials, they constantly come out of the tracts and are difficult to get back in, aligned and even barely functioning. They have never functioned properly. I tried to leave a review on the company web site, but you can't do that. Ergo, they have only 5 star rave reviews on their own monitored web site. They did sent a technician out when we called and complained. He was very nice and even said these were the complaints he came across constatly. He told us we had to keep the track cleaned out and be careful using the screen doors. We have these..by another company, at another our primary home, for well over 12 years and have never had a problem with those.
