To begin, I do not yet have my couch but I have to compliment Cassona just for the experience of shopping for a couch. At the beginning of my visits to the store it was just to enjoy the beauty of everything. All the pieces are amazing! I visited this store many a time with various friends and family members - they agreed with my assessment. Then there's John and Angel. No matter the time or day I was there John and Angel were ready to help and just as ready to stay out of the way. My father brings his own measuring tape holstered to his belt. Angel remarked "They don't need our help. This man came prepared!" However, their help and advice is invaluable and they think of every detail of which I had no idea could be involved in a couch. I'm fully confident that I'll love my couch and I'll update when I get it. read more

I recently stopped in to look for a new couch. I had the joy of working with John who was absolutely amazing. He not only incredibly pleasant to work with but he educated us on how to look for quality in all sofas. He was honest about everything from price to logistics. At most stores the sales team will treat you like another commission check or waste of their time. John sat on the adjacent couch from us and talked as if we had been friends for years. It was stress free and I did not feel pressured to make a knee jerk decision at all. I was in need of a couch much sooner than I could get one from here but he was more than accommodating to help in anyway he could. You really get what you pay for in terms of quality here. My husband and I were able to find a quite affordable dining set here BUT it has not held up well at all. Just a bit more than a year later, two of the chairs are broken and the cheap finish on all of them has come off. They're also a non-standard size, so your typical dining chair covers don't work for them! Another issue we had with Cassona is that the merchandise was NOT delivered when promised. We ended up waiting for three months and were then delivered a dining table with warped wood on top. Another eight weeks later, we got the crappy set we'll soon have to trade in. Yes, the people who work here are nice, but why shouldn't they be? There are a lot of nice people in the world and being nice at what you do simply isn't the same at being good at what you do. Also, they are not so nice when you're calling to see where your furniture is or what can be done about the shoddy merchandise that's been delivered. read more

As my sister-in-law (and fellow Yelper, Elizabeth W.) said when she saw my Fiancée's and my condo for the first time, "Ahh, to be gay and fabulous...!" Well, I owe Cassona a thank you for the fabulous part! Having a partner who is a director of interior architecture makes picking out decor or furniture extra difficult. While I love modernity, I also value comfort. Decorating our new condo was not going to be an easy task. After chatting my favorite Yelper, Nicole V., we visited Cassona to look at their furniture pieces. We worked with Cassona's awesome duo, Angel and Jon, in selecting, personalizing, and purchasing a sofa. Our gorgeous klein sofa sectional was made of a tough and edgy, yet soft fabric, had an extra wide chaise perfect for naps or cuddling, and a possessed a modern look while still providing back support and having various pillows. After our couch was delivered, we returned to Cassona to check out a bed frame we had seen. Sure enough, we fell in love. Our king sized bed frame was hand-crafted and stained by the talented Canadian manufacturer, Huppe. We chose the Silk design due to its natural walnut material, and the headboard with five joint sections (or reveals) which peek through to the wall behind. We felt obligated to also purchase two nightstands ("his" and "hers," if you will) which attach to the bed frame and float above the floor giving the entire piece a 'feng shui' feeling of warmth and relaxation. Cassona kept us up to date with when our furniture would arrive to their store and when it would be delivered to our condo. The delivery guys were quick in setting up the pieces, cleaning up, and describing any details about the pieces (i.e. how to separate and combine the different sections of the sofa). Best of all, other than what has already been stated, they LOVE Yelpers. I saved 10% off my entire purchase (trust me, it added up) simply by checking in to the store on the Yelp app. I'm all about a good deal! Got a couch and chair here with the fabric I wanted for about 1/3 the price of Crate and Barrel / Room and Board equivalents. Delivery was prompt and as promised. A minor complaint - when they delivered the couch it baaaaarrrrely fit through our hall and scratched our wall. Their initial call was to tell us that "our delivery driver told you it was a tight fit and you said to go ahead so we shouldn't be responsible." Well, there was a language barrier there, so I'm not sure how that conversation could have occurred. I just hate when, before getting the whole story, a store manager sticks up for their employee at the expense of the customer. It took a couple of weeks, but at the end of the day the owner from the Evanston store came by to look at the minor damage and it was fixed appropriately at no cost to us, so was just a small deal in an overall smooth transaction. If I needed something else to furnish my place I would probably check Cassona first and hope for another good deal. read more

I love this store. The guys are really helpful. I usually spend a lot of time lurking before I come to a decision about buying a piece of furniture. I made my first "adult purchase" of a sofa from here a little over a year ago. Good, clean lines. I haven't had any problems with mine, but was assured that if there were, I could contact the store immediately for resolution. Today I just received delivery of my new coffee table. Delivery guys 15 minutes early even! They put the table together quickly with no fuss, and I am now typing out my review from the comfort of my awesome lift top coffee table! read more

I have bought 2 beautiful furniture pieces from Cassona, as well as a statue named Gorda. I love the furniture in this store. They were delivered very fast and on time. However, I tried to purchase an ottoman and placed the order. I put a deposit down and waited the 6-week estimated time. Then, I was told it would be another month. Then, I was told after that, another month. And so on, until 8 months passed and I finally got my money back because I was tired of waiting. The people are nice there, but the store needs to cut off their suppliers who can't produce. The store worked with me to decrease the cost for the delay and offered free delivery, but enough was enough. I'm bummed because I liked the ottoman. Long story short, I think the furniture is top notch. I wouldn't buy anything that wasn't in stock. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience here, I would give 10 stars if I could. I moved to a new condo and abandoned a lot of old furniture starting off with a clean slate in the new pad. I needed a dining room set, a full bedroom set and complete furnishing for my new living room. Combine this with the fact that I am clueless and illiterate when it comes to interior design and that sort of thing, I didn't even have the terminology to say what I liked or wanted !! So it was a with a lot of trepidation I ventured into the store in Andersonville, the first encouraging sign was that they let me browse, a sales person checked in with me when I arrived and then let me explore and look for ideas. When I finally had some clue as to what I wanted I was lucky enough to be looked after by John who was amazing. He very patiently went through my lists, spent ages going through swatches with me, gently and diplomatically eased me away from my more horrendous choices and was genuinely interested in making the whole process work for me. At no point did I get the feeling that I was being encouraged to buy the more expensive choices and because of the size of the order he worked out a very generous discount. The furniture arrived this weekend and I could not be more pleased, I had brought some photographs with me of my new place on my first visit and that helped a lot, now that its all installed the entire package works. The delivery was efficient and very professional. My impression is that the philosophy in this store is that If they help you make good choices they will have a happy (return) customer and that's more effective in the long run than just selling you the most expensive item on the floor. It certainly worked for me, I'm back next week for round two, the rugs and tchotchkes and stuff to 'pull it together', under John Zotti's careful eye of course !! I've bought an end table that has a glass top and drawers, a cool coffee table that converts into ottomans and a shoe storage rack. The prices are fantastic. The quality is really great considering how reasonable they are. The furniture is stylish and well made. I also have to say that the service is great. I've bought at both the Evanston and Clark St. stores and have always had great experiences. In addition, one piece had a small defect in it. They ordered me a new one and replaced it, no questions asked and no problems. I really think that this is a great alternative to expensive downtown stores, plus it helps keep money in the neighborhood. read more

Fun furniture, great accessories. You will not find repeats of items found here- in other stores. Some very interesting wall hangings hand created by traditional artisans in Mexico. Fantastic colors in bed linens, custom orders. My favorites? Incredible, heavy, but well designed ceramic wall tiles in these funky red/mocha and bit of pumpkin colors with leaf designs. I really have to give props to this place. Our sales guy, Angel, was not only patient and not pushy, he was truly helpful in assisting us in choosing some nice pieces, even dissuading us from several things because he didn't think we should spend that much, etc. The best part? After having already ordered a bed, sofa, and chair from Pottery Barn, we walked out with the same -- plus a rug and two lamps -- for $800 less than we spent at PB for those three items. I use Yelp quite often, for everything from restaurants to car repair shops, but I've never written a review. There's a first time for everything and my experience at Cassona compelled me to finally become a Yelp contributor. I have been shopping for a reasonably priced sofa throughout the last couple of months and was not terribly pleased with anything until I went into Roy's furniture last weekend. I will not deride Roy's in a review of Cassona, but I was less than thrilled with the experience I had and decided to shop elsewhere. Fortunately, Cassona had the same make and model in their very nice store. I called ahead to ask for the price and was initially disappointed to hear that the model I wanted was more expensive at Cassona, but the manager was willing to price match with absolutely no fuss, simply thanking me for bringing my business to her store. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted by a fantastic sales associate and the manager. Now, I absolutely hate environments where salespeople are present, whether it be jewelery stores, car dealerships or furniture stores. It always seems the associates are looking at me as though my presence is inconveniencing them unless I cash in my 401(k) to by an expensive item (I was overwhelmed by this sensation at Roy's). Well, my experience at Cassona was perhaps the most pleasant "large" purchase transaction I've ever had. Everyone was incredibly friendly without being overbearing and genuinely wanted the best for me, their customer. I was there to buy a sofa, of which they have a decent selection in the relatively small store. They also have a decent selection of other furniture and rugs as well as some pretty unique pieces. I have yet to receive the couch I ordered and will update my review when I take delivery. I expect that the sofa will arrive in the quoted 4-6 weeks and that any issues I have will be quickly addressed. I'm not easily impressed, but Cassona delivers on all fronts and I had a truly wonderful buying experience. I will definitely be back for any furniture needs in the future. read more

I'll preface this review by saying this was among the last stops we went to when looking for a couch. We tried everything from large chains to other small boutiques and everything in the middle. John Zotti is by far the most helpful sales associate I have ever met in the history of my furniture buying life. He went into specifics about the quality of each different manufacturer without being asked and possessed a level of knowledge that others did not come close to as well as informing us of what to look for if we were to buy elsewhere. The store carries manufacturers that you can find in other local stores (Younger, Rowe, etc.), but the prices are comparable and the customer service is second to none. Just moved to the area and walked by the store a couple times. Window had great items so we went in. We really liked a lot of pieces, but I'm so indecisive so we went in another 4 times. Each time the staff was amazing, patient, helpful but not at all pushy. They gave you their honest opinion and let you go from there. Angel and John are amazing. Finally on the 4th time in, we purchased our sectional sofa. John was so incredibly patient with me as I walked around the store a million times, carrying swatches all around, then he stayed late to make sure our order went in on the same day. We had some major issues with the sofa we purchased; but thanks to the great customer service everything was resolved and we now have a sofa we love! We waited almost 3 months to receive our sofa and were very disappointed when the very next day the seam in the seat cushion came apart. We contacted Cassona and spoke with John who went to work immediately to get this issue resolved. Unfortunately there was a defect with the fabric we chose and the sofa kept coming apart. John worked diligently to express our concerns to the manufacturer and get the issue resolved. We ended up choosing a different grade of fabric and having a whole new sofa made (no charge to us). The new sofa came within a month and we are pleased with it. Cassona has great furniture at reasonable prices and the great customer service will keep us coming back. read more

I have purchased from them several times when renovating my son's room, living room, home office and family room, and have been very pleased with the customer service they provide. Like the other reviewer the quality is really lacking. It looked really nice at the store so with some reservation I got a sofa. Less than a year later a button on the back came off. I'm about 105lb and the sofa is used gently so I was really concerned about the quality. When they sent out a repair guy I wanted him to either redo all the buttons or replace the sofa. The owner reassured me that if other buttons come off at later date even after the warranty date that they will take care of it. I should just call them again. I did explicitly ask her about the warranty and she said not to worry. Well, 2 and half years later another button came off so I called them. Now they are saying that the warranty has expired and they are not going to follow up on what they promised me. It seems that they will promise and say anything and cross fingers that nothing goes wrong. I should have just followed my instinct and push to exchange or done something at the time. For a bit more I should have gone to Macy's and gotten a better warranty and service. Never again. They are definitely friendly and helpful at the time of purchase. Cross your fingers that nothing goes wrong after that. Or get it in writing. read more

I've had nothing but excellent experiences with Cassona: 1) I purchased a Rowe sofa from Cassona a few years ago that I absolutely LOVE! However, I've had some issues with the springs. The parts are under warranty but full warranty service with labor is expired on the sofa. I reached out to Cassona to ask them if they could assist me with figuring out how to get it repaired, and Alma not only first contacted Rowe and found out all of the details about what was and was not covered, and how to handle things through ROWE, if needed, but she actually spent the next month getting quotes from local repair shops and was able to help me find a very inexpensive, but highly qualified, in-home repair person. 2) I purchased a coffee table that was marked down to sell, first they gave me a huge discount on the delivery, and then, when the delivery person was out sick, Alma showed up with a young man from the shop. They brought the table to me in her vehicle and assembled it for me instead of making me wait and reschedule with their delivery service. I love their interesting and beautiful furniture, and I can't say enough good things about their service. This is truly a fantastic place to shop for furniture! read more

It always feels like victory when you can find an awesome neighborhood business that you can feel great about supporting. Put Cassona in your list of places to shop for furniture at! I was in a situation where I needed a couch in a short time, so choosing a couch from a catalog and selecting all my desires for fabric and wood, etc, just wasn't an option for me. I tried the big name places only to be disappointed with the quality of the furniture and no guarantee that those items, while not being custom made, would be in stock. With my upcoming surgery and need for a couch to recover on quickly approaching I popped into Cassona on my walk through the neighborhood just on a whim after reading some yelp reviews. To my great fortune they had a beautiful floor model couch they were selling. Because it's been on the show room floor it was at a discounted price. I waited a few days, came by and sat on it a couple times, talked with Angel and we were able to negotiate something that benefited us both. They got the show room space freed up for another fabulous piece of furniture, and I got a couch that would not only be a great place to recover after surgery, but also a great addition to my life for many years to come. Easily the highest quality piece of furniture I've ever had. It's awesome. The experience of shopping there was wonderful. I felt like they really cared that I got something that would fit my needs. We received our furniture and we absolutely Love it. Its all that we were told it would be. We had one minor issue with one of our chairs but Cassona was right on top of the manufacturer error and fixed it immediately without any hassles. It took us an extra week to get back to them, so we were the only delay, but as soon as we did....Presto... it was fixed! They are great people to do business with, and great pricing. Potentially one of the best furniture stores in the city. It's a small store, but wonderful taste, very high quality/unique pieces, and reasonable prices. We just bought a really unique bedroom set and coffee table from there. John and Angel are extremely helpful and knowledgeable (They even let you come in with your dogs if out on a walk). I liked the style of something on the floor, but it wasn't the right piece. John spent time with me going through their catalogs from that furniture maker as well as others until we found just the right pieces. They were delivered last weekend and I'm in love with them. I also commissioned an independent furniture maker to design/build 4 custom pieces of furniture for me. While at my house, he commented on the high quality of the bedroom set from Cassona. Terribly rude, They screwed up my order and didn't fix it. My husband and I bought a condo in Uptown last year and were looking for a new sofa to celebrate our new home. We came across Cassona last May and found an amazing sofa, but the customer service and accountability is terrible. The associate that was helping us was initially very friendly and explained all of the options available for the sofa. It was shown with tufted cushions on the back and seat. He actually suggested that we get the seat cushion without the tufting because he said the buttons accumulate crumbs and would catch on clothing - so helpful, right? We picked the fabric and confirmed that their would be no tufting on the seat cushion. I paid and we waited for delivery. Upon delivery, the sofa cushion arrived with tufting and I assumed it would be a simple call to fix my order - completely wrong. I spoke with the same man we placed the order with and explained the mix up, which he immediately became defensive and said that I did not order it without tufting! He was not apologetic at all and refused any wrong doing, he actually said, "You signed the order, nowhere on the order does it say 'no tufting on the seat cushion. I can mail you a copy of your order." Are you kidding me?! I was so upset and he refused to offer any solution besides I buy an entirely new seat cushion for $500, almost half the price of the sofa. I have never been so angry about a transaction in my life. Another reviewer seems to have experienced a similar encounter (sun y.). They are friendly until something goes wrong and then they leave you with a product you're unhappy with. Today, my husband stood up from the couch and his pants caught on a button and came off leaving a nice little hole in the cushion. I will definitely try to have them fix it under the warranty, but I am not holding my breathe. read more

Great experience at Cassona this weekend. This is the second time, not counting accessory purchases, that I shop for furniture at the store. The first time was a few years ago for my son's bedroom set and yesterday helping a friend with furniture for a new apartment, living room and bedroom. The staff at Cassona is always very friendly and knowledgeable about fabrics and materials. Prices are very reasonable taking into consideration the quality of their products. The owner is a delight to work with, as are the 3 employees there. I recently learned that one of the employees actually is the artist of some of the original artwork for sale. If you are planning to redecorate, it is worth the trip to Andersonville. Check their website as they often have great sales for sofas or other items. There is parking on the back too!!! read more

I LOVE this store! We searched through several other stores for a sectional but couldn't find anything we liked that was cute, comfortable, and affordable. My friend recommended Cassona so we checked it out and were immediately in love. Their furniture is beautiful and we seriously wanted everything in the store. Angel helped us pick out our couch and helped us pick the perfect color and material. It's the best couch ever and everyone comments on how beautiful and comfortable it is. Angel and John are so helpful and are not pushy at all. We will definitely be going back for more furniture. I thought I had written this when we first got the couch, but I can say that we have had our couch for a few months now and the cushions look exactly the same as they did on delivery day.
