I did some research before narrowing it down to the top 2 companies. I called Koren first as she had also been recommended by some neighbors as well. A competitor had a website where you could book appointments and secure cleanings for certain parts of the house. It was a little much for me and led to more questions, thus my call to Koren first. I explained the Sq Footage in my home, the layout of the lower and upper levels, how many stairs as well as the loft. She explained the processes she and her team go through and answered most of my questions that I would have asked. We booked an appointment, she said she would text me an hour before, and she kept her word! We had a few older stains and a few recent and she and her team made our entire carpet look new with no more stains!! Her price after researching and inquiring with Koren was very fair and the work they do justifies the expense. I told her and her team, as they were packing up, that they "are the hardest working, most thorough team that has ever cleaned our carpets, EVER!". I highly recommend if you want someone to give you that extra touch and that was the most impressive to me. We have a distressed type of tile on the kitchen floor and I have never seen it without the holes being filled. It looks beautiful. The carpets also look great. Hate to be so harsh, but I had the same exact experience as John D. Just got the keys to our new place and wanted the carpet cleaned prior to moving in. Couldn't take time off work so scheduled an early appointment, the first one of the day. Mike called me right at the scheduled time and says he was running late. (half hour to be exact!) When he arrives, he starts with minor rushed spot treatments and started shampooing immediately. After not even an hour he was finished with 3 bedrooms, a hallway, a full set of stairs and a living room. I was running late for work and didn't get to inspect it much. 4 days later when we started moving in, I got to finally do a thorough walk through... I really don't understand what I paid for. Every stain was still there. Ok, I wasn't expecting a miracle on the living room because it was pretty trashed, but the stairs and bedrooms just needed a touch up, especially when he stated, "these carpets are going to be 80-90% better." So I lost a whole day of moving because I had to borrow a carpet shampooer and do the job myself. I hate to burn a company like this but just a heads up to others who are about to spend their hard earned cash. Koren and her daughter were great! Our carpet feels and looks new again. While our carpet is generally clean (no stain spots), it has not been professionally cleaned for 7 years. We hesitated because the last 2 contractors we hired: 1. Damaged our laminate floor on the lower level. 2. Left the carpet wet for 3 days. Koren arrived generally on time, protected the hard flooring on lower level and went to work. The entire process took about 80 minutes. The woman who owns this business (a rarity in the carpet cleaning industry, btw) takes real pride in her work and it shows. For starters, I could time my watch (if I wore one) by her promised arrival; she and her crew showed up exactly when she said they would -- a really good first impression. They spent more than two hours pre-treating and cleaning just over 600 square feet of pile and the underlying pad because she was committed to leaving the off-white wool carpeting better than it's ever looked. We thought our two occasionally naughty dogs had discolored a few patches permanently but nope -- she persisted and prevailed! Based on the experiences of friends, who used other companies, I had very low expectations that the light colored grout could be helped. Instead, the results are amazing! Castaway Carpet Cleaners did an absolutely fantastic job! My boyfriend just moved into a new house...the previous owners left it in great condition except for the carpets. The stains were so deep that my bf was adamant on replacing them completely. I convinced him to try cleaning it first, if it doesn't help then he can change them. After using a different cleaner for a couple visits we decided to try someone else for a house another family member had purchased. They showed up right on time. They were nice and explained what some of the different marks on the carpet could have been from. They explained some of the stains wouldn't come up due to the age of the stain and type of carpet. So before they started I knew what to expect. Sometime later, after cleaning some of the areas twice, sure enough the carpets looked great and in some places the age definitely showed. Cleaning can be a biotch like that. Overall they did a great job and were very friendly. We had them at the end of the day during the holidays and didn't feel rushed at all. I have used this company for the 6 years I owned homes in Oakley and Brentwood and loved them. I moved to Martinez a little over a year ago and was very excited they were willing to come over the hill. Once again- THRILLED with the professionalism (friendliness) speed and results. I have 4 kids and an indoor 10 year old Labrador who likes to eat socks and vomit them up on the carpet....White carpet! They look amazing- will try to load pic! We've used this place twice. First when we purchased our house in July 2012, and again this past month. We had a different person each time (the second time was the owner), and had very positive experiences each time. Their prices are competitive - not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive. I'm of the mindset "buy cheap, buy twice". They got out stains in our high traffic areas, as promised! Not easy considering that we have a dog, two cats, and two toddlers. Two days after the carpet was cleaned, my dog threw up all over the place. He's 80 lbs and he had a full stomach when he started. Three huge stains right in the middle of our living room. In addition to carpet they clean my couches every-time I entertain to remove pet hair & oder. I've had one white couch & love-seat for 16 years and it still looks great! I had them clean my tile floor last year and the difference was night & day! When I worked in real-estate I used them regularly.
