Great experience going Solar with Castaways! Reasonable price. Some prices out there with others are high so be aware. A 30-year Solar Insure insurance policy is included in their price to alleviate the possible expense on something going wrong. (Includes insurance against leaks caused by components that attach the panels) Great!!! I had signed with another Solar Company, and they backed out and wanted to increase the price... Everyone did great at Castaways! Elisa was the main contact. Nathan helped me decide with questions I had due to my tech background. Elisa was there all the way! I am sure it takes a lot to quote and juggle the whole process as she did. She keeps it all moving along. Jason was the electrician and Casey on the roof with the panels. Several others helped and another man in the attic. They did a clean install and used components that make leaks a rarity. They even showed pictures of the components and how they ran the wire into the attic when I asked about it. These pics were automatically done. (I suspect they are required by Solar Insure) The Utility is the toughest part. Ours would not communicate well. They had an answering machine and email and a form letter that states it will take at least 30 days to get the meter changed and go live. Not an ideal response from the utility. The install and inspection by the county went quick after our install in Osceola but, I am sure it varies. If you are considering Solar, it's real and it works! I have produced 47% of what I used last night by 1:20 PM today! I am looking forward to monitoring it. Consider Castaways! If you decide on Castaways and this review helped, please mention my name. Had my solar panels installed today, job went smoothly and flawlessly. The crew arrived on time and went straight to work, I was kept informed throughout the installation process. Very friendly and knowledgeable crew, they were willing to make modifications upon my request, however when configuring the Envoy box to connect via WiFi it kept erroring out and would not connect so the company decided to have someone return the next day to troubleshoot the issue. Jonathan return early the next day and still no success, after a while the issue was solved. If your router WiFi has its Security Method set to WPA2 the Envoy box will not connect because the Envoy box is set to NONE. Both the Envoy box and the WiFi Security Method must be the same for the box to connect to your WiFi. To fix the issue Jonathan ran CAT6 cable from the Envoy box to my router and the problem was solved. I believe there should be a way to change the Security Method settings on the Envoy box via the App or the web browser interface to match the Router WiFi settings. So I thank you Jonathan for your patience and great work, your determination to solve this issue shows that you care about your work and your customers. I actually searched out and found Castaways Energy as I was looking for a REC certified installer. I had 3 quotes already from different solar companies (offering lesser name panels) and Castaways beat out every one of them. The follow up and scheduling was seamless and really fast, while other companies I had reached out to all seemed very hesitant to promise a target completion date. I realized it was because Castaways is an installer themselves and they're able to offer the full service inhouse from start to finish. Nate and his team definitely went above and beyond to deliver even better than their promise! Installation went smoothly (in half a day for 24 panels) and Keith and his crew were professional, fun and friendly! They even stayed longer until they tested each panel to ensure they were all working properly. They also made sure that everything was in order with Duke Energy to speed up the interconnection agreement. My PV system is working perfectly now and I am a happy customer! Just want to say I do not often write reviews but, after signing a contract to do a Solar System with another provider, they then backed out and said they could not do it for that price. Seemed like a bit of bait and switch. Castaways Energy Elisa, Nathan and all of the install team have done wonderful at coming through with a nice system. Priced right and with the awesome newer Enphase IQ8+ inverters on each panel. The app keeps track of the production. The system and each panel are in view every day showing us the production. I now would like to install a similar system in Ohio but, I find pricing not so good locally and production would be less in Ohio. I have asked Castaways to see if they can work out an Ohio system for me. That will be a tough one but, I am that satisfied if they could make it happen! With some extras for their ride to Ohio. I was seriously starting to doubt the solar industry after some insanely high quotes I had gotten from other companies. When I called Castaways, Nathan took the time to go over my quote in detail to make sure I understood both what I was getting and the value. The quote alone made Castaways stand out, but they also included a 3rd party warranty on everything including labor which sealed the deal for me. Everything Castaways did was prompt, well managed and well executed. Often the measure of a good company is not on how they do when everything goes smoothly, but in how they handle problems or difficult micromanaging customers like me. A couple minor issues that were outside of their control did crop up along the way but Nathan and the crew stepped up at every opportunity and knocked it out of the park with courtesy, skill and enthusiasm. This team from calling them, they always, answer, to the installation and maintenance of my system was great. The electrician that came out, was fabulous. 3 days for my system. I had the sunlight backup installed so a slew of equipment had to be wired and installed. I highly recommend this company and you should go to them directly instead of Project Solar, which I did. Project Solar has the cheapest prices, like Mona Lee, but the customer service is terrible along with getting anything done. read more
